[REQUEST] Bypass PIE security check - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I looked up some threads on how to bypass the "position-independent executable" security check (1, 2) but I suppose I can't do it myself. The file which has to be modified differs with the devices. Has anyone done this successfully on kenzo/kate?

Following for kenzo. Me too saw so many posts but the files are different for kenzo.

Need help to (re)activate the native Android encryption

Dear all,
I need some help in (re)activating the native encryption in an Android 4.4.2 ROM.
The phone is a THL T6 PRO which was delivered with a Android 4.4.2 Stock ROM.
The normally available native encryption is not available in this ROM.
It is absolutely not visible (not only greyed out).
I am using a Custom ROM which is based on this Stock ROM and therefore the encryption is also not available.
I read dozens of threads, but nothing really helped me to find out, where the encryption is disabled or how to fix it.
The only interesting things concerning this topics which i found are:
- Android fstab file
- Partition layout, I ran the two patches without success.
CS_usrdata_fix-fs.zip
ICS_usrdata_shrink.zip
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2122702
I would be very glad, if someone could help to get the encryption working, which is really important for me.
I am really satisfied with everything else from the cutom ROM, which is:
http://klausminator.de/custom-rom-fuer-thl-t6-pro166lneue-versionkmdroid-v0-8/
pw for download can be found on the website
Thanks a million, best regards
Harald

can mdz-16-aa flash the mdz-16-ab rom ?

same hardware.
I did some digging on the entire china problem with their crippled and excluded roms.
The common solution to fix the AA model is to flash the international firmware on it.
If you not already running on Nougat it should be easy.
Some users however report that the AB rom won't flash without removing the device check first.
Others claim it works just fine if a full wipe is done prior to the flashing.
Fire up Google translate and check some of the chinese threads in regards to flashing the AA model or removing the bloat and installing the Google apps.
i came across a step by step guide in a Vietnamese forum. It was mentioned that Cast function is not available.
Planning to try out the guide but any better guide / steps which would enable the google casting function?

Android 8.0 Oreo update for US unlocked Galaxy Note 8 has leaked online

As seen on Sammobile :
"The leaked OTA requires the device to be on firmware version N950USQS2BQK2, which is the latest official build and only available for unlocked Note 8 units on Verizon at this point. However, to get around that limitation, any unlocked Note 8 owner can get the N950USQS2BQK2 firmware on their device by following the upgrade path suggested by the Reddit user. Also, this is only for the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Note 8 in the US, if that wasn’t clear already."
"Naturally, we don’t support flashing unofficial software unless it comes directly from Samsung as part of a beta test program, so you’re on your own and would require some knowledge of flashing firmware (both via a PC and through the phone’s recovery mode) if you decide to try this out. What we can suggest is looking at a few step-by-step guides that seem to be making the rounds online with directions for installing the leaked Oreo build.
We would also suggest making a proper backup of your Note 8 via Samsung Smart Switch (or any of your favorite backup apps) before trying the test Oreo firmware, as you may have to wipe all your phone’s data (including images and other files on the internal storage). And, if you do install it, let us know how it works! To see what features Oreo is bringing to the Galaxy S8, check out our exhaustive What’s New With Android 8.0 Oreo series, which should apply to the Note 8 as well."
GREAT NEWS!!!

Android Oreo OTA (this is real)
"Hey, Here is a link to the Android Oreo OTA
https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQS2BQK2-to-U2CQL1-UP https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xTtsn6gcg4JEX2dYKPiXTWVhPiGPzIBn/view?usp=drivesdk
Before you can do this build you will need to be on 2BQK2, so to get to that you need this build: https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQU2BQJA-to-S2BQK2-UP
ODIN for BQK2: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19gW_CxUf2HdL4UYyxTkyOnBY8cluRIVS&export=download
this file for BQJA is on SamMobile, SamFirm, and Updato. These are OTA updates besides the flashing required in that.
I currently have an S8 on the Oreo beta and will be buying a Note8 this weekend because of this. I AM SO EXCITED!
Oh just a side note, this may be unstable and crash, you have been warned."

Hopefully Exynos Oreo will get leaked too ?.
If anyone tried it already, how is it? Any new features?
I tried this. I get errors on the oreo update. I just odined the AP, CSC, and CP so i take it i need to odin BL rest to get this to work. I'm a little hesitant because of having an unlocked phone so if a unlock BL exploit comes I don't want the inability to odin back to unlocked BL. Not sure if it's possible or if it increments

Lenovo A7600-H Stock ROM

Hi
I am trying to find a source of the correct Stock ROM for my Lenovo A7600-H (Android 4.4.2).
I have searched the XDA Forums.
The most promising link I have found is within a thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/lenovo-a7600-h-stock-rom-t3010576 posted on 23rd January 2015.
However, the link gives several alternatives. How do I select the correct one ?
For example, Is there a way to match one alternative up to the data I see in the "Version" option of the Android “Factory Mode”. This option gives, for instance, " SW version ALPS.KK1.MP1.V2.10 ", "Kernel version 3.4.67" and several other pieces of data.
Many thanks for any advice.

original Mi Box S (MDZ 22 AB) Oreo 8.1 firmware?

can anyone provide a link for 8.1 ? for people who want to down grade from Pie 9?
I do not encourage you try to downgrade from Pie to Oreo.
If you are having difficulties with the upgrade, the most effective interim solution is to perform a full system reset initiated from the Settings menu.
For those adventurous souls.............
Here's the official link for build 699 Oreo 8.1, which is the original rom shipped at intro.
https://android.googleapis.com/pack.../cf1bcb02c65dae169a2313ef62d9d0c63a91588d.zip
CAUTION: You cannot downgrade from any version of Pie without some complex manipulations of your firmware.
I will avoid linking to these instructions for the following reasons:
One necessary step involves opening your MiBox's case.
Careless users can inadvertently destroy DRM critical partitions, with ZERO chance to recover. This can impact your ability to use Netflix and other commercially licensed streaming services.

bigtalker,
thanks so much. fortunately (or unfortunately) i "am" an adventurous soul and i know of those links you speak of about changing back and forth between 8.1 and 9.0. and i am doing so seamlessly. this is not the problem.
the reason why i ask in this thread for the "original stock" 8.1 firmware is because of varying file sizes of such 8.1 DL's that i have taken from the Net...i dont know which one is original. yours is the smallest 8.1 file size so i suspect it is true. the others are larger which is dubious. that said, all of them boot up successfully (the 8.1's including yours and the 9.0) HOWEVER it appears i have ANOTHER separate problem (?) with my remote. which i would like your feedback on if possible on the thread below.....thanks much!

After upgraded to Android 9 last week, my Mi Box 3 can only output 5.1 surround sound channels instead of 7.1 which I have been enjoying on previous version Android 8.1. Any suggestion fix this issue so that 7.1 is working again? Else I may have to revert to 8.1 via the posted complicated steps.
