Hi. I have an Xperia Z3 that was running android L as software and everything was working fine. Then I update it to Android 6 and it was the start time of my issues. My phone has started taking a long time to charge and discharge quickly. Now after a week of use, It won't start again.
When I plug it to a wall charger, it just keeps showing Sony Logo and goes off again. But when it is connected to a USB cable, only the red led is permanently on.
I've tried various solutions found on the net but none seems to have worked. Now I've just opened the back of the phone and remove the connector of the battery and now it is showing the battery charging symbol for a time and it goes off again.
Please help me fix this issue. Thanks
Mm that might be the sign of battery degrading I would recommend u to give it to the service center.U

Hi,
I have this new problem for a couple of weeks now. My X10 mini will not charge when switched on.
The problem coincides with the time I started using my Laptop to charge my X10 mini.
It occasionally starts charging while switched on, but stops after few minutes. I am forced to switch off the phone to charge it properly.
At present it charges when connected to my laptop, even when it is switched on.
Can anyone please guide me to fix this problem.
I have rooted the device.
If there is a shell command, that I can run to kick start the charging, I shall do it too...
Thank you.

Need Help with Charging when Phone is On
There should be some program that is triggered when on connecting the Charger while the phone is switched off, that is not auto triggered when the Phone is switched On.
If I switch on the phone while it is charging, the charging continues.
Does anyone know of a fix to this yet?
Thanks,

The phone detects if a charge is coming in, whether it's turned on or off. The only thing is that charging via USB (through a computer) is not as reliable as charging through the grid, using the wall-charger. Charging with the wall-charger is the preferred option.

I am plugged into the wall socket charger when I face this problem.
So how to solve this? Is there some changes I can do to a script file so that the program for charging kicks in as is required when the phone is connected to the charger?
Please help.

I've seen this thing on my own phone when the battery was too low. Don't let it go below 10% and only charge it with the wall-charger. The only time my phone is connected to my computer is when i want to change a rom or kernel, and only for a couple of minutes. In any case, i recharge it when it comes down to around 20% (say between 15 and 20), and only using the wall-charger and i do not see that problem anymore.

Hi,
Just thought I'd update.
I generally plug into the charger, once the battery reaches low (when the battery bar turns RED, 15 - 20 %).
And I always use the Wall Socket charger, as the charging is quicker. (I used the PC when I suspected the Charger Adapter)
And what I see is, though the charger is connected, and the tiny LED glows Orange (charge > 10%) or Red (Charge <=10%), the battery icon shows the charging symbol for a moment and then returns to discharge.
Same thing happens even if I disconnect the charger (MicroUSB end) and connect again.
If I shutdown the phone, the phone boots up and enters the charging mode.
Now if I switch on the phone, the charging continues.
I have even changed the Battery to try fix this, with no effect.
I understand that I'll have to charge it going forward before the charge gets below 20%. I shall do that.
But I still want to fix this problem where I don't want to be forced to restart the phone every day just to trigger the charging.
Please help.

About the having to reboot to get the charging going, you can't fix that yourself, but hopefully it goes away. I've had that same issue where is stopped charging after a couple of seconds, but when i got my battery back up to somewhat normal, that issue disappeared by itself.
I am currently using Mini Cm 7.2.1.9 version nAa kernel -11 i.e. 2.6.29.6 now the problem is that my phone is not charging since 2 days before that my phone is working but many times charging problem occured but solved naturally ( i did nothing ). When i plug the charger red light blinks for sometime after that no light and phone is not charging even it is not starting on many times i plug in charger and unplug it but no result .
When after keeping 5 hrs of non-stop charging phone booted but after 50% charged again same problem occurs i.e not charging. Many times when i plug in the charger and keep charging my phone starts dropping out the battery level means i was having 10% battery available(before charging) then when i put on charging after 1 hr it is showing 0% and phone switches off then phone doesn't charge for hrs but after 4-5 hrs again i put in charging then phone charged up. Today after 50% charged i want to reboot it to recovery but after that my phone doesn't rebooting nothing happens now what to do .......?
Now i want to solve this i read many posts on this forum regarding battery issues but no answer to my problem i want to roll back to S.E 2.1 version i.e Eclair which came with this phone or switch to Mini CM 9( 4.0.4 ICS version) my heart says don't roll back go ahead means install CM9 version but don't how to do this saw many videos on youtube but m not able to do so specially i dont want to brick my Mini .
Please friends and specially nAa i know this is your hard work which resulted in using ICS on this MIni guide me .....
Thanks.................
First, i think your post should be in "XPERIA X10 Mini Q&A".
Have you tried with annother usb cable? I had a similar problem, and i solved it buying another usb cable.
your phone probably have hardware problem and you can not do anything, take it to a service.
Battery charging stops when the phone overheats... when it cools phone charging starts again... problem in power ic or charging ic
I have the same issue. During is erratic at times. Chances are that it's your charger

Have the Xperia Z tablet in stock ROM, unrooted, everything stock ... and a couple days ago out of the blue the tablet has stopped charging.
Even when I plug the USB cable in, the LED does not come up. Looking at Settings->Battery it shows a slim line under "Charging" only. Tried different chargers and different cables, same thing.
If I power off the tablet, and plug the charger in, now the LED lights up and the tablet charges.
As soon as I power on the tablet, the LED that was on goes off immediately. With the tablet turned on somehow it cannot detect the charger at all.
Tried rebooting the tablet a few times and didn't help.
Anyone had the same issue?
My next step is to use the Sony Companion software to repair it but not sure if it will wipe out my tablet ...

It's weird that it still charges when its off. I had a problem where it wasn't charging at all, and the motherboard got fried apparently, and Sony gave me a replacement.
I googled some, and people having similar problems as yours (on Sony as well as other androids) ultimately had to get their phone repaired/replaced unfortunately. For example - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...Z-only-charging-when-switched-off/td-p/513665
I suggest you take a backup of all your data while this phone is still working!

Hello,
Im having problem with charging My xperia z2
Recently I tried using magnetic charger for first time but it wasn't charging at all and phone started getting more heat so I removed it and got back to USB normal charging but now its not working as usual... when I connect usb charger phone showing charging symbol and red light on but its not charging at all, turned off phone and tried charging while phone off still same ..getting red light on and charging bar in the middle of screen and phone stuck on same percentage and goes down slowly even it keeps screen on charging bar after I unplug the charger !?!
I tried hard reset using power button and vol+ afew times some of the tries worked and phone charged normally but after i plug the usb charger again problem gets back ... so i keep resetting phone many times till i get lucky and charge normally
Also tried factory reset and flashing new stock ... still same
I don't know but i have feel that magnetic port causing problems for battery even i didn't use magnetic charger again
and i read somewhere it might be possible to disable magnetic port?
any idea?
help would be appreciated
any help?
When you connected the magnetic charger first time, have you connected it in the correct way? If it is connected upside down, it ll cause serious issues..
LikeTh3DON said, you probably connected your magnetic charger in the wrong side. I've done the same with my D6503, and I have the same issue. I already looked to change the battery, nothing change, it's a chip on the motherboard I think.
Look on that thread, some users have the same issue, no solution so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2745786&page=3
If you can, use sony's usb cable and charger, or a usb port on your laptop, don't know if it's related, but my phone charge easier with those. If it's the same issue than mine, your phone will charge to 85-90% and the screen will constantly goes on. When it happen unplug your phone or it will heat a lot without charging.
Same thing accidently done with me.now phone dsnt charging with megnatic cable(charging on and off regularly) nd with USB its have same problem when battery % reaches above 90.
Please give me solution..
Is that repair is available for this issue?

Hey,
I haven't necessarily got a solution for your problem but thought I can offer you my opinion. I've used solely the magnetic charger for nearly a year as my USB port has clean snapped off from my logic board. The whole time I've not had an issue, the only time the device heats is during intensive games or/whilst charging.
I know that people have had issues with the magnetic charging port in the past, it's a relatively easy fix, however, will involve opening the device and stripping out a lot of the parts to get to the ribbon.... up to you what you want to do.
Guess I should ask the obvious, have you tried different cabled/ chargers etc?? the fault could potentially lie with the cables if they've been damaged/frayed.
