I have installed Nitrogen OS 7.1.2 and i have flashed Franco Kernel from recovery, the problem is that when i open the FKUpdated app it say Uh oh! Your device is not supported by franco.Kernel.
How can i fix that and what is causing that?
After the flash via TWRP i lost root access
Thanks
Only Lineage OS is supported. Flash it manually. Also Franco kernel settings won't be applied on Nitrogen as Nitrogen f***s up with everything. You need to unroot and flash SuperSU for root.

Nitrogen os loads the default Nitrogen kernel governors like impulse. No other ROMs which I know don't have this problem. Nitrogen dev keeps changing things.

is there any good option for battery other than Nitrogen OS? i've tried LOS and it's great but some substratum themes do not work there.
Also can i flash the new ROM without wipind data to not lose all apps data?

Have you tried Umangs LineageOS? https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unofficial-lineageos-substratum-radon-t3592853 Its very smooth, good battery life (for me at least) and have had no issues with substratum. I recently switched from Nos myself, and glad I did. Also if your upgrading from the same rom you don't need to wipe data unless told to

If it's a different rom then yes. You will need a clean install. But remember you don't have to wipe internal storage. The more you flash roms the quicker your restoring will get. But I do feel you. It's quite tedious
yeah it's kinda something i hate to do: thanks :highfive:
Take backup of the app's with titanium backup. Don't erase the internal memory, as it doesn't matter.
Ohh poor u guys, just because the cpu gov of some custom kernels doesn't implemented on rom, you blaming nos that much. I feel sorry for your stupidity, and recklessness.
Anyway, all you guys need to learn how scripts or something works on rom. Since nos rom use init.qcom.post_boot.sh as script commands, so basically there is a command that will force the cpu configuration back to stock at booting if the governor selected was interactive, also there are others configuration to that will be necessary at booting. In short, I just edited that script so nos will support custom kernel, tested using every custom kernel. Just make sure that u replace the file everytime you update rom.
Replace it in /system/etc and set permission to rwrr/0644. Oh, and remove .txt ext, I'm to lazy to make flashable zip.

Don't worry even if u replace it, It doesn't change anything on stock setting. Every thing will be normal.

Im on nitrogen os oreo with radon kernel and wondering why i get only 6-6.5 sot where i would get easily 8-10 hrs sot.
I just implementesd what you said copied the file without the txt extension with permissions as 0644.
You think it'll help increasing the battery backup as i would get easily more on other roms with this kernel, thanks in advanced anyway
Edit the max frequency for the big cluster is being limited to 1382mhz and not going to 1843 as on my kezo ill check the file

wow, wait, don't use the preset values they are wayyyyy too low for the phone to work properly...
multitasking is generally bad on official lollipop on this phone, if you want a performance boost i suggest you get yourself cm13 (the lastest snapshot build is really good and stable, but of course you will have to go through the process of unlocking your bootloader and flashing twrp which can be risky)..
otherwise (only if you are rooted AND have busybox installed), try to play around with the values yourself instead of using the predefined ones that are no good. also to get better multitaksing, debloat your phone and reconsider if you need stuff like fb messenger etc...
that's all i can tell you about this topic

well, launch it, and let it do it's job (install its stuff onto your phone)
PS: The anime character "Haruhi Suzumiya" is copyright of its owner
PS: arise fix
Open up a file manager and go to the root folder. You need to have SuperSU installed for this
You'll see a folder called su, go to /su/su.d
In this folder create a text file, label it as "permissive.sh" and put the following code in
Code:
supolicy --live "permissive *"
Then save the file and go to recovery and flash arise and Dolby Atmos addons again and then reboot
It should now work
Stop reading my bs! Here's the download link
https://srv1.botstack.host:8000/oneplus/op2/custom-kernel-for-haruhios-v3.8-STABLE.zip
Or
http://srv1.botstack.host:9000/oneplus/op2/custom-kernel-for-haruhios-v3.8-STABLE.zip
This is a project that started as a kernel for my ROM and that is what it's going to be
It can be flashed on other ROMs too and I will gladly provide support however I can't guarantee results
Do note that this is a "secure" kernel. It has many of the security patches merged from CAF and selinux enforcing is forced with no way to go to permissive
What about v4a?
Get SuperSU and input these lines in a terminal
Code:
supolicy --live "allow mediaserver mediaserver_tmpfs:file { read write execute };
allow audioserver audioserver_tmpfs:file { read write execute };"
Wait for a few seconds, swipe away v4a from the recent apps list and launch it again. It should now work
Why isn't a thermal throttling tweak included inside this kernel?
Well in my usage the kernel is so fast that thermal throttling modifications are not needed. You can apply if you want
Currently known bugs?
Nothing
OMG you're copying boeffla!
Relax. I used boeffla's anykernel base as I was in a hurry and didn't have time to make my own zip. Also, boeffla's anykernel zip is one of the best around trust me
What are the features?
Too lazy to write, check back here in a few days but there are quite a lot of features you're gonna like
I'm a nerd, I support the GPL, I'm gonna take you down because you didn't release the source code and neither did you tell me whose toolchain you used!

Also, as im using bens RR Rom, will this have any bugs or side affects with that rom (i had flashed boeffla kernel and had to face a lot of problems on his rom such as the xposed modules becoming inactive or not performing after some time, etc.) and last main thing, idle battery drain
Hello world
EUI was so pathetic that I learned about repacking system images and ROM cooking in less that 48h after receiving my X722 ELITE.
Hereby I present you a fully working LOS 14.1 based on the latest available nightly for the X720!
First of all, credits where it's due:
@codeworkx for mantaining the source code
@murat1150
@slothdnk
@MakeX722GreatAswell
@evlo
@mick_novi for starting the amazing thread in the X722 section
Bugs
Same as for the X720
-------------
I must say that after using it for a while I found out that the device started slowing down. After investigating the settings for the kernel are set to the wrong governor.
You can fix this by installing magisk root and then installing kernel auditor and going to the CPU tab and setting the proper min and max frequency and changing the governor to on-demand
Bluetooth for BMW 2017: only audio works. This is the same bug as on the x720.
Front camera works but the quality is poor.
Installation procedure
Unlock bootloader. Best to be on genesy 26S or any 20s ROM
Install TWRP recovery (I used one specificly for the X722 by @CrisBalGreece). If you use a X720 TWRP image then you'll have to extract boot.img from the zip and flash it after flashing the ROM in fastboot, else you will not have network.
Wipe cache, dalvik and system (f reset)
Flash my ZIP (link below from google Drive)
Flash OpenGapps package of your choice for ARM64 Android 7.1
Wipe cache
Reboot and enjoy
Please note first boot shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes !
Disclaimer: Everything you do is at your own risk. I can't be held responsible for bugs or anything that leads to consequences because of my work.
You can use my work for your own ROMS. In fact, I would love to so that we can boost the support for this amazing device (160EUR!).

@soulaiman Well done! Do you think it would be possible to automate those cooking steps with pre/post build phase scripts (image mounting + filelist to copy)? Instead of cooking manually after every zl1 build, perhaps we could use either zl1 or (even better) a dedicated zl0 Git repo as source.

I'm sure a repo would be the best solution. It is possible to build a script for it but it wouldn't be easy as you have to use different tools and python scripts to unpack and repacked the dat and image.
One big problem! Sim card doesnt work.

yes it was in. i was on latest stock 20, then i tried LOS 15 without SIM, then 14.1 with sim.
i'm not sure flashing other roms will help or caused troubles because i can't see any modem firmware files in zip files for both LOS or Genesys, but i'll try again tomorrow to see logcat and with permissive selinux. maybe something just needs to be chrooted in ramdisk. also i'll take a look at second sim not getting detected, we had similar problems when i ported CM to dual sim Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, then we got LTE working on both SIMs even if it was impossible to do on stock ROM

The firmware files for Genesys are in the system.img that you have to unpack.
The firmware files for LOS are inside the system.new.dat that you also have to unpack. They are inside system/etc/firmware
Please try LOS 15 with a sim so that I know for sure that it is my ZIP that has the issue and not incompability between basebands version and LOS 14.1.
I did not notice any problems specificaly with the SIM card, but I had some failures when I flashed this ROM over the previous Genesys 26s installed. Flashing again with data wipe in addition to cache, dalvik and system solved it.
The ROM seems pretty functional for me so far but the performance is not very good. I got a score of 134000 with Antutu, while the results with 20s and 26s were between 150000-152000 points. I tested again with the device rooted and AKT running with a performance profile and the results improved to 144,000.
For the photography enthusiast, I think the default camera is worse than the original and crashes when trying to set 16:9 format but on the other hand the Google Pixel/Nexus Camera port can be instaled allowing HDR+ photos and (stabilized) video .

Just a note on kernels
I've tested many many kernels on many devices. When they are configured the same, performance/battery is about the same. Any difference was slight enough to be considered noise in the test methods. I always suggest to learn about kernel parameters then tweak it to the way you want. Any kernel will give more performance, or battery life, or anything between - all depends on how you configure it.
Ps - same device, same twrp, supersu instead of magisc, no problems. Except seems not compatible with ex kernel manager - it doesn't apply settings. I believe it doesn't set proper permissions to be able to write. But hey, it's young and a stockish kernel, hope to see more.

Ps - same device, same twrp, supersu instead of magisc, no problems. Except seems not compatible with ex kernel manager - it doesn't apply settings. I believe it doesn't set proper permissions to be able to write. But hey, it's young and a stockish kernel, hope to see more.

EXKM seems to work fine on AEX rom using the butterfly governor good battery life and smooth.

i had to use his toolchain, and fix a few includes for it to work. im going to try different ones to try and figure out the lag, maybe thats not whats causing it but im new at this . been reading logs all day

It booted, but was very slow and laggy, even did a system cache wipe....Then restoring the default boot.img had wifi not working....Just FYI for those who want to try...Do a backup

yeah, sorry. new at this. dont know if @geneticengineer wants me passing his old kernels he hasnt posted around either. if you can find his afh, he has a really old one on there thats way faster. im still learning, im working on pulling the stock modules and kernel to make a back to stock zip rn actually will post soon if you keep using it, it speeds up a tiny bit lol

Is the only benefit to have magisk modules on stock rom? I have XT1806 rooted TWRP r9 Gladius Magisk 14.3 flashed this kernel but kept booting straight to recovery...had to do a full restore. I'm looking for custom kernels that provide speed and power benefits. Thanks

actually i think i missed something in defconfig that enables the secondary processor, im also going to switch toolchains, expect a new kernel in a few days
Here's a link to GeneticEngineer's AFH-hosted original kernel from the TWRP thread. I don't think he'll mind it being reposted in this thread. This should tide people over until you can iron out the bugs in your build.

Thanks for picking up the baton and running with it, incidentally. I did ask GeneticEngineer to create a thread for his kernel but perhaps he missed the message.

i actually get those weird reboot to recovery bugs all the time on this device and 2 things fix it, booting to bootloader and picking "start" or a full restore
I tried version 2. I still couldn't get it to pass Magisk SafetyNet. I also noticed that this kernel breaks fingerprint gestures.

GeneticEngineer's original both passes SafetyNet and leaves fingerprint gestures functional on my otherwise stock single Sim EU version:

Thanks. I tried it and still wouldn't pass SafetyNet. The fingerprint gestures worked though. I am running it on a secondary ROM. Maybe that is causing the issue?

I've built a fully working stock kernel which has the needed commits for Magisk modules to work correctly and passes SafetyNet [emoji6]. Need to do some more updating (upstream) but I plan on posting it soon, probably new thread (Resurrected Kernel).

A stock based kernel isn't gonna play well with custom ROMs, unless your secondary ROM is a stock ROM? I plan on creating one for cm-14.1+ based ROMs too.

If you need someone to beta test it, let me know. It is the only reason I am not running stock.
Okay, so I have been trying to get dualboot another Oreo ROM on my redmi note 3 but i have been very unsuccessful. First I tried multirom which didnt work at all and couldnt install it, and then i tried Dual Boot Patcher which was able to install the secondary ROM on my ext SD, but then my primary couldnt boot and it kept going to fastboot no matter. I could only solve it by wiping everything and reflashing stuff on my phone.
So basically what I want is this: I have Nitrogen OS with Agni kernel as my main primary ROM, and i want to install ABC ROM with radon Kernel as my secondary ROM (preferably on my ext SD, but idk really). I want the secondary ROM mainly for gaming because ive realized that my primary rom always has too many apps that slow it down, so a clean fresh ROM with few apps and only games would be nice. So how can I do this? (if its even really possible). And if its not possible with oreo, but possible with nougat or something, please let me know. Essentially i just want good game performance for my phone while maintaining all of the apps that I regularly use...

U need TWRP Recovery to use this trick.
No need of multiboot/ dualboot etc.
Just share me ur boot.img, i mean, upload & share the share link.
I'll enable dualboot and u ll be able to run 2 instances of the same ROM!

Okay well I was able to use dualboot patcher to boot NOS Oreo + Agni kernel as my primary and NOS Nougat + radon as my secondary for gaming ( I found out DBP doesnt support oreo roms yet). But what trick exactly are you talking about? Is it anything that i can enable myself? Or what boot.img exactly do I have to share? (Will a twrp backup of the boot.img work or something else?)

Its a tough work, so, if u share the boot.img, it will be easier to u.
(Update ur rom to latest version and share the boot.img from the rom.zip)
