As anyone managed to get the face book trending working on bixby. I'm using Bixby on my SGS6 edge. Is the fact I'm not rooted or is there something I may not have done. Everything else works fine apart from that. Any ideas?.

Hi chaps/chapesses
Quick question that someone can hopefully help answer..
Chromecast screen mirroring on my S2. I currently have Jellysnap rom on it due to the fact that the utter! app doesn't work properly with my Bluetooth car adaptor (Avantalk) when using Cyanogenmod 11 Kitkat (I really like it because of its offline capabilities as I am on PAYG with no mobile data) .
I was just wondering if anyone has had any success screen mirroring their S2 to their Chromecast with any kitkat rom. I don't really want to start over again installing kitkat if at the end of it, the screen mirroring doesn't work so I was just wondering if anyone out there in xda land had already tried it?
Ive searched the forums and cant see this question relating to the S2 with a kitkat rom but can see others have asked the same about other devices...
If no one has tried it, I might just bite the bullet and report back on any success/failure...

Hey y'all,
Let me push this topic a little bit. Since it was opened a lot has happened in that area. After r3pwn has closed his thread, because google has implemented native mirroring support into the chromecast app for Kitkat devices, the platform for discussion was closed as well.
I'm facing similar issues as the topic opener. I'm using my i9100 with cm11 m12, latest chromecast app, which works fine, e.g. YouTube. However, once I start screen cast, the TV screen becomes black. After each few seconds the app tells me, that the cast connection was disconnected and the chrome standard screen is shown on TV. After several trys the screen stays black. Does anyone have an idea how to make this work.? According to several posts it should be possible...

It is working for me now. I am using Markox89's latest custom CM based rom (20141220) and screen mirroring works but only if I use Mirror Enabler from r3pwn which I find strange. Even though I have downloaded the latest version of the Chromecast app which is supposed to allow all devices to screen mirror, the mirroring doesnt work - I get the same as above, screen stays blank and I get disconnect messages on the phone a short while later. Doesnt matter which way I try (either via the option within the Chromecast app or via the Settings/Display/Cast Screen option within the Rom itself) The only way I can get it to work is to continue to use r3pwn's Mirror Enabler app and I think it was only v5 that worked as well (tried v6 and v7 but still got the black screen followed by a disconnect and before I could ask about that he had closed the thread). Once I had done this and got it working, I now have a Cast Screen tile appear automatically after I go to Settings on my phone so I dont even have to open the Chromecast app to screen mirror any more so the phone automatically sees the Chromecast now Personally I think r3pwn has closed his thread too soon but not heard anyone else having a problem without using his Mirror Enabler app since the latest Chromecast app update. I will just keep his apk's safe.
I know this sounds silly, but have you tried a reboot of the Chromecast as well? I actually rebooted it with the button held down which factory defaulted it and I just re-set it all back up using the Chromecast app to my Wifi etc. This MIGHT have been the fix but as I am unwilling to mess with Roms now that it is working, I am staying put.

i tried v5 as you said and it worked but mirroring is very slow.

Yea, for me v5 also works and it's also super slow.
Yeah it is slow for me too but I think thats unfortunately the device capabilities.. Ive not seen or heard of it being very responsive on the S2 but at least it works.. Not sure why v6 and v7 of Mirror Enabler dont work - a shame as there might be speed improvements in those versions but neither work for me, just says straight away that casting has ended when using either version.

In new lolipop roms it is a little fast.

@thisrock Do you mean that you have managed to get it working with lollipop?
So after not messing with the note 4 too much, Verizon is back at it with removing what they want.
So far, I'm missing the Samsung Browser and Samsung Smart Manager app, along with download booster. I'm sure there's more ... Anyone else notice anything?
Phone isn't overly impressive, debating sending it back and keeping my Note 4. I miss the ability to draw on my screenshots, thats handy. Thoughts?
Huh? I'm seeing Download Booster on my Verizon S6 Edge.
Settings->Wireless And Networks Section->More->Download Booster.
Also u can have snote on the phone I'm using it same like the note3 I used to have

I have s note as well. I don't miss that much, just the ability to draw on pictures/screenshots.
Thanks for download booster info. Still missing stock browser and smart manager, unfortunately
Is there any way we can get the stock browser and Smart Manager?
Stock browser supports the fingerprint login... I really miss it.
I am not sure about Flash support. My GS3's stock browser was able to.
This time I really like Touchwiz features.. they are really pretty and well polished.
Hello,
I have tried the steps described in post #212 in the how to pair with non Samsung device topic, however the app can now detect that build.props have been tempered and won't connect to it. After I used the trick to click the watch icon I was able to active the watch, however connecting to my Nexus 5 proves to be not so easy task
If anyone has connected the phone can you post a short guide on how to connect it(which version of the Host Manager, Gear Manager and the Stub are you using will be enough).
Ty
I'd also like information about this. I have a Nexus 5 and just got a Gear S, and all of the tutorials for making them compatible, here and elsewhere, are out of date and broken by Marshmallow. In any case they don't work for me. Is it possible now? Could a new tutorial be put together?
I am seriously thinking about reverting back to 5.1.1 as waiting for Samsung to update their apps for Android 6.0 would take some time as even their S6 Edge frontman phone has not received Marshmallow, yet ;(
android wear with Gear S
until then ..maybe android wear for Gear S? any news on that part of dev ?

Can you give me solution in 5.1.1 how paired ?
I've used the BlissPop Rom with the solution in this post:

No need to change your build.prop if you preactive your watch.
However the thing that annoyed me most was that it doesn't matter if I pick up the call on my phone or watch, the call always gets transferred to the watch. So you have to manually transfer the call to the phone each time you get one....
Not to mention that I got contacts synced somehow, but the messages and any other app's notification, did not get send to my watch, even when the app is selected in Gear Manager notification settings....
So I ended up buying used S5 and tbh after removing some of the bloat I enjoy the S5 more that I did my Nexus 5.
Hi,
Does anyone have a link to a current Google Phone APK that works with the S10?
Thanks
Google phone APK is available on APK mirror, although not sure if it works on S10, download it and try.
A port can be found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218/post74588791
I use it on my S10+ and have been using it on my S9+ and S8. I've had no problems so far though scam call reporting is still a little iffy, I've had it magically work twice or three times but it generally doesn't. You also won't get the Pixel's call screening either.
To all those that have rooted your Galaxy tab S6's. Have you found any problems that make you wish you hadn't rooted? I'm getting one soon and am planning to root it, mostly for ViperFX but also the utility and to match with my rooted phone. They always warn for things not working, like OTA or KNOX or Bixby e.t.c.
Please tell us if you'd had any issues.
I have my tab rooted for adaway and root apps.
Surely if you root, you will trip Knox and lose the option to get official software updates. .
I used to hate Knox. It was the reason that I rooted my previous galaxy tablet.
But now I find the secure folder is quite handy. The stock rom is stable and reasonably smooth. I don't think that I need to root tab s6.

My previous tablet Tab A 10.1 with S pen and 3 GB Ram was slow, so I rooted it and got rid of all the bloatware. It felt faster for awhile until I bought the Tab S6. There's no need for root. The Tab S6's Snapdragon 855 and 6 GB of ram is a beast even with the four bloatware apps.
I mainly use the tablet to watch videos and surf the web. I might play some games but nothing too crazy. The only reason I would root my tablet is if Pokemon Go was scaled correctly to the 2560 x 1600 screen resolution. I would spoof with a tablet. My phone already does it better.
I've not found any reason not to root, but not many reason to root either - I just want more control and to have TWRP . I'll never use my Tablet for things like S-Pay, so losing them means nothing -
The only thing I'm disappointed to lose is Secure Folder, but I can accept that and hopefully in the future there will be a module or something to get it working again. There's not really anything else I've missed since rooting.
Overall, the ability to run adaway and Vanced has definitely been worth losing Secure Folder. I've seen a few people mention Viper4Android, but I haven't researched it much or installed it, the quad AKG-tuned speakers in the Tab S6 are great so I'm unsure what the benefit would be.
I've not noticed any problems since rooting except a few random reboots - Knox obviously doesn't work anymore, but it isn't causing any issues - Bixby works fine. OTA will no longer be available I assume? But should be able to use Odin to flash should I ever need/want one.

Secure Folder is for hiding stuff you don't want people to see if you let them use you tablet.
Once rooted, you lose OTA updates. If you want to update your tablet, you have to flash stock firmware then root it again.
The times and the ROMs have changed, means there are less reasons to root compared to some years before. We have a system wide dark mode even in some apps, ads can be blocked via private DNS, clock can be centered via GoodLock and all without root. Besides we can expect two major android updates on tab s6. So I`ll wait with rooting ... . I just rooted my s8 after two years, which is petty unusual for me to wait this long but there were no reasons like I just wrote. But since there will be no android Q for the s8, I'm sure there will be custom ROMs with Q sooner or later.
m.
Now have a working Secure Folder with root - So there's 0 reasons not to root for me personally.

Why not just use the Private DNS option in network settings, with an adblocking DNS solution like AdGuard, or even NextDNS?
Exactly!
