Hi. Please forgive me if the answer's out there and I've missed it. I've been looking but don't see an answer to my problem.
My unrooted Kindle HDX 8.9 was on whatever the newest software was as of two weeks ago. One day it was fine, the next it wouldn't start up. I can get it to boot into recovery occasionally. I tried factory resetting it from recovery. It said "erasing" then rebooted and said it was updating, then nothing. The screen turned off and nothing else happened.
Sometimes it will power on and the first two kindle screens will appear then it goes black and nothing else happens. I can still get it into recovery sometimes. Mostly it just says "kindle" for a few seconds then goes black.
Is there a way for me to reinstall/flash stock kindle software?

As you probably gathered there is no easy answer to your problem. It has characteristics of a power problem (bad battery) where the device will only run for a few min/sec before shutting down. It could also be overheating. I would engage Amazon if the device is still under warranty.

Interesting, thanks for your input. I was actually wondering about the battery but wasn't convinced that was the problem.
It was at 60% battery the night before the issue, and then next morning I plugged it in. I took a shower, got out, the battery icon said 100%, and then it just stopped working. It wouldn't connect to wifi, so I shut it down to restart it. When I restarted it, nothing happened. I tried to restart it several times. It would occasionally boot to the first "kindle" screen then go black. After that, it ran down, I assume because of rebooting/hanging on one screen and then no battery icon would appear when it was plugged in. After a few days, I plugged it in and a big red battery did appear on the screen.
This stupid device was ONE WEEK out of warranty and Amazon would do nothing but offer me $20 off a new $400 Kindle. Fool me once, Amazon... Luckily, I bought the kindle with my Mastercard and they have an extended warranty policy. They sent me a check for the cost of replacing the Kindle and I bought an Ipad. Eff Amazon. I'll never buy anything from those jerks again.
I still have the Kindle but am no longer invested in trying to fix it. Maybe someone will give me a few bucks for it on ebay. It's in perfect condition other than the not working thing. Never been dropped, rarely left my house, no kids, no smoke or pets, etc. I'm pretty pissed at Amazon. There are 20 or so HDX reviews in the last month that say almost the same thing.

Agree with the shoddy treatment from Amazon. Although technically out of warranty (by a week!) one would hope for more than 5% off retail. Enjoy your ipad.
So, this was my mothers tablet and it stopped working one day. She hadn't used it in a while and it was simply under her bed. After a period of no use she pulled it out and tried to use it - didn't work at all. Plugged in = no response, etc.
Friend has same tablet, same charger, etc. Tried his charger with her tablet, nothing. No charging light, no indication of response of the tablet whatsoever.
Tried the long-time trickle charge using a lower power charge, left it charging for days on end. Still nothing.
Tried replacing the battery and the charging port/ribbon, still nothing. Left to trickle charge again and still nothing.
This was all many months ago and she has since given up and purchased a new tablet. I thought of a good use for this TF300 if I could get it working so figured I'd try to fix it. Is there anything else I need to try before I just go ahead and replace the main board? It's only like $30 on ebay so no harm done if it doesn't work.
The screen on my Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 suddenly went blank while I was using it. The battery was not very low. I tried pressing the power button for 20, 30 and 50 seconds but nothing. I connected it to a PC but did not detect anything. I thought the battery died, so I bought a new one and installed it but no luck. My Kindle just won't power on anymore. I don't hear any sound either which makes me hesitant to buy a new replacement screen.
Is there a way to fix it? Which component(s) could be dead? Or is it designed to fail after a number of years ? I thought only the screen and/or battery could die with age. My Kindle is 6 years old, but I have been taking care of it.
Thanks.

Likely a component on the main or daughter board took a dump. Not much you can do about that aside from replace and hope. Probably more cost effective to grab a lightly used one off eBay or another auction site.
Does anybody know how I might be able to go about testing what component may have failed on my Fire HDX 8.9" 3rd gen? I was using it last Friday in the morning and noticed it was a little sluggish, so I held the power button and turned it off the normal way to clear the cache. I plugged it into the original charger that I've always used, but when I came back to it, it wouldn't turn on. The device was only around 62% battery life when I turned it off, too. My device isn't rooted and is running the standard fire OS. I opened it up and tested the battery with my multimeter and got a reading of around 3.8V so I'm not entirely convinced the battery is the problem. When I've tried various combinations of extended presses of the power and volume buttons, it still hasn't responded; nor is it being recognized when I plug it into my computer. Is there a way to test if it's a bad power connector or if one of the boards might have fried? I'd hate to lose this thing seeing as I've had it for the last 6 years and would like it to continue to accompany me on work trips.
I love the HDX for its computing power and screen so much, I decided to upgrade to the 4th gen, even though it's still 6 years old. Ironically, the day that my 3rd gen bricked is the same day that my "new" 4th gen arrived... Maybe it was jealous?? Lol.

Looks like it was the motherboard. I purchased a used 16gb HDX 8.9" 3rd gen and swapped the boards. Next thing I know, my kindle works and the rest one didn't. I just wish I could recover the old one so I can increase my storage capacity. Too bad there's only one motherboard listed on ebay and its a 16gb as well...
I've had the S23 Ultra (US, unlocked, from samsung.com) for a couple of months. I didn't root it, drop it, or splash it with water. I charged it last night, but when I woke up this morning, there was no sign of life: a black screen, no sound, no reaction to charging (even after long charging with a different charger and the cable), no reaction to a long press of Power + Vol Up/Down, and nothing detected in adb.
So I have a few questions:
Has anyone else had a similar experience with their device?
Any suggestions on how I could resurrect it?
Do you have any ideas about what might happen? Throughout the two months, I used the same old low-current (850 mA) Motorolla charger. The charger is still operational.
My current plan is to contact Samsung Support.
Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
Have you tried using a higher capacity charger, like an official Samsung charger plugged into the wall? Have you tried a wireless charging pad to rule out an issue with the USB-C port? Samsung still uses the lowest grades soldier pennies can buy on their most premium devices.

Looks like you've tried everything basic and the phone's just dead. Could be a motherboard failure. Best to go to Samsung instead of breaking your head, as it's still under warranty. At least that's what I'd do in your position.
Wish you the best.
Try half an hour charging on wireless charger if you haven't tried yet
Saw this happen on a Note 4 back in the day. It wasn't really dead but in a weird power state. Fully charging for a few hours (even though it showed nothing) then holding power and volume up and down got it to reboot.

My old Note 4 went into this state and didnt manage to revive it with Power and Volume Up + Volume Down combo. The only sign that tells me it's not fully dead is the green notification light when I do the above combo.
About weird power states - I had Galaxy Buds Pro, which refused to take any charge - wired charging did not work and wireless either. Only way to revive it was to use wireless power sharing from the phone. Problem did not reappear later. Go figure...
Really? I "didn't root it" as if that is a bad thing
You obviously charged it with faulty charger. I experienced the exact same thing. I was about to cry but then i remembered i was testing a cheap, fake Samsung charger...
Then i plugged the phone into REAL charger, waited for 2-3 minutes, phone was alive with all its glory.
Get a GENUİNE one with GENUİNE Cable, you are good to go.

Had this happen on my old s21u. Contacted support and told them I had done all the steps you did. They had me send it in for repair (was actually 2 months after warranty expired but they still agreed to repair it free of charge) and ended up changing the main board, usbc port and something else. Never happened again after (didn't change chargers or anything). So yeah, contact support that's your best bet.

As for resurrecting your device, you could try some basic troubleshooting steps like a hard reset or checking for any software updates.

It will be hard to do it if he can't even turn on the device i any way... No combination of buttons work, no way to turn it on with charger or ADB...
As its apparently either dead or in power-off state you could try to start it into download-mode by:
1. pressing Vol-Up and Vol-Down together and keep them pressed
2. plugging in a USB-cable connected to either a powered-on computer or a charger while keeping the buttons pressed
Normally it should boot into download mode (you can release the buttons after boot-up ).... Maybe this helps if the power button is broken....

Can't a power surge damage a device? It can happen either during a storm or by using a non-recommended charger. It can fry certain components, even though phones have protection.

No, it was like... My fake charger suddenly stopped working and my other phone recognized the charger + cable as a DATA TRANSFER DEVICE. It is really hard to describe the experience. No charging, my fake charger was recognized as something else..
The experience was... My S23 Ultra blacked out. I thought it was charging. Then, complete darkness. Didn't respond to power button.. Nothing. I thought it was bricked. Then i got up and found my other charger. Waited.. 10 - 15 seconds later my phone was back again. God i swear, i was shaking with sweat. It has been almost 1 month, my phone is just fine..
That day i decided to go with only geniue products. Maybe my phone protected itself by bricking itself. I really dont know.
To me it sounds like what you experienced was just an empty battery .... without juice in the battery the phone cannot do anything and the defective charger did not charge the phone while you thought it did....
Update from me: I scheduled an appointment from the Samsung site with an authorized service center (Best Buy). They checked my phone and said that they couldn't fix it if it wasn't turning on, and I had to send it to Samsung. That was unexpected.
I sent the phone to Samsung, and today I got a message that they could not reproduce the problem. I wasn't able to communicate with the service worker yet. My concern is that it could be a bad internal cable connection that restored the circuit due to the shipment vibrations. If so, and they will not check it, I could end up with a phone with a faulty connector that could die at any moment (hopefully during the warranty period).
It's also possible that being in the weird power state was fixed by simply letting the phone completely deplete of charge so that it properly turned off, recharging, then rebooting.
I had this problem on my old s7 edge. It seems that samsung never fixed this problem. The screen would stay completely black, unable to do anything until the battery completely drained. The device itself was never rooted or modified. Pretty disappointing it was never fixed.
