Hey, so this a thread i decided to carry over here from the Nexus 5 forum. I've recently switched to the XZU and am definitely loving the build quality and the feel of the device. I try using it from time to time without the case but I'm also pretty concerned about how fragile it is due to its size and slimness. So I'm curious how are you guys using your devices? Does the risk of damaging it outweighs the unwanted bulk of a case for you?
Yes the risk does outweigh.but I can't blame. You for not wanting
To use a protective case for it. Because it hides the true sleekness
Of this beast but it comes. Down to personal Preference I just ordered two cases for it and one of them is a nillkin and the other is a vertical
Leather pouch with the swivel belt clip

It sucks that there aren't that many quality cases for the XZU down where I live. And even when I do find its usually the cheap generic ones. I had bought the Nillkin fresh series which didn't fit well and felt cheap. Then bought another generic fake leather case which doesn't seem to be holding up too well either. I think I might just order one of those Love Mei aluminum bumpers.

I have a glass protector in front and plastic on the back then to carry around I do use a case but when at home, I prefer to hold it naked (the phone!).

If youre holding the " phone" naked then be sure to keep your hands dry as its quite slippery [emoji1] also I do the same with my phone when at home just worried the top and bottom rails paint is coming off from constantly removing the case as it's made of plastic.

Have you placed the front glass screen protector ontop of the ASF?
Those who are using this phone naked please be careful.
I was using it naked for a while and I am very careful with my devices but
unfortunately it slipped out of my hand and hit hard floor. Luckily there is only a slight scuff in the right corner.
I am now using a case.

Yes on top of it. I did not want to remove anything
I want a slim case with good grip, protection for the corners, wireless charger should work through it. Recommendation for charger is also welcome.

It is really nice but the corner protection is a bit limited.
Is there a similar case but with more corner protection?

Hello XDA,
Im looking for a case that will protect the nexus 6 from minor drops and that i will be able to enjoy from its beatiful desing and its white color.
I dont want the case to hide the white color on the back and the "NEXUS" writting. It will be great if the case could seal the audio input to prevent it from getting dirt and eventually ruining it.
I dont mind if the case will make my phone bigger or heavier by much.
Highly prefer Mat material and not plastic because plastic fealing makes my hand sweat.
Could you please recommend me a good case that fits my needs?
Appreciate any help offered!
I got this one and like it. Transparent back and choice of color for the sides. Cutouts are accurate.

Its up to you, there is no "best transparent case" but there are many good choices.
Here are my favorites for clear/transparent casesmost of my cases are clear/transparent)
SUPCase (frosted clear PC back with TPU bumper)
TUDIA ( TPU Clear top and bottom with a matte clear back
Cruzerlite (clear back and sides TPU with android logo on back)
Evecase (100% clear TPU case but the buttons are hard to push)
Ringke Fusion (hard PC back with TPU bumper)
I'm a big fan of my Orzly Flexislim. It's the frosted clear color. There's also a smoky black one out there but since you've got a Cloud White I figure this is most applicable to you.

Buttons are probably my least favorite part of the case. It's just cut-outs, and the material left around the cutouts is pretty thin. I'm not afraid it will tear or anything, just that they are the two bits of wiggliness on the otherwise solid case.
On the plus side all the sides (both top and bottom) are covered all the way around which is nice. This is in contrast to cases like the Bear Motion sandstone case or other similar snap-on cases that leave the top and bottom exposed.

Eh I was hoping they would be covered. I just ordered two more cases because I'm a case whore when I get a phone. I bought a Spigen Ultra Hybrid (the all clear version) I'll post pictures when it arrives Monday. I also bought a Diztronic ultra
Thanks for your replys guys. You've helped me alot. I'm debating between the Ringke FUSION case and the Ringke MAX case. It seem they are the two that best fits my needs. The only thing that prevents me from getting the FUSION over the MAX is that im not sure the case will feel good in my hand. I tend to sweat in my hands specially holding cheap plastic so i fear ill have it with the FUSION case. Is there anyone here that has the FUSION and can share his expirience about the material and grip of the nexus with the fusion case?

the cutout is my fav, in this way the buttons are flushed with the case. Preventing alot of accidental presses.
well, to each his own....this flexislim is my fav case at the moment. Just hope that it comes with more colors.
I just received my Ringke Slim clear yesterday. I dig it:

I have Spigen ultra hybrid with clear back and gun metal sides, and the Ringke fusion clear. Still making up my mind which I prefer. The Ringke has caps for the headphone and USB sockets....the headphone one is OK but the USB takes a bit of fiddling to get it to close flush. I think I prefer the feel of the Ringke but the Spigen feels a little more solid. The Ringke is better for the buttons, there's a clear separation between the power and volume buttons. With the Ringke case there's a clear audible click when the buttons are pressed, which I don't get with the Spigen. Both cases work OK with my tylt vu charger.

As you can see in my signiture, i had Motorola atrix 4G as my daily driver before the Nexus 6. I didnt use the audio port quite much and it got ruined by the dust overtime. Same thing about the hdmi port but not the usb port.
I had the atrix for almost 3 years and those port got ruined twice after i repaired them. If i took the atrix to the beach i noticed it always got sand into the port even i didnt took it out from my backpack. Sand can get in from the tiniest holes and i plan to use the nexus 6 for a long time, therefore i wanna make sure i get the best suitable case for me.
Cheers.
Huge fan of the Cruzerlite cases. I have the clear one on my N6 now and it's great.
EDIT: I'm using a Dbrand skin, so I switched to Ringke Fusion Crystal so I could see the skin more clearly on the back. Fantastic clear case.
Tried due diligence and to search for the right thread.
I picked up the Fosman case on Amazon, one of the cheapo $10 ones, and it's turned out pretty great. Love the matte/frosted back, though I wish it were a bit more transparent so the black came through better. Good purchase, though I'm sure all of these TPU / cruzerlite / whatever companies are pretty much selling the exact same product.

I hav both and they both have good grip on the sides and are a bit slick on back.
Two others you might want to consider are the uag maverick and the poetic affinity. They both have threads here so search and read about them. I have the uag and like it but the back is a little ugly imo. I will be getting the poetic tomorrow, and yes, I have a problem with buying cases. I want to keep my Max incase I want to go back to it but I have a clear fusion I could send you for the price of shipping if you'd like. Send me a pm or email if you're interested.

I cover my ports also to keep crap out..even if you find a case you like but it doesn't have covers you can always spend a couple bucks and grab silicone port plugs online... I use them when not in my OtterBox on my Note and they work well.

How did you like the UAG compared to the Ringke Max? I have the Max now and while I like it I find it a bit slippery on the back, so now I'm gonna try the UAG.

They are both very good cases. The UAG is a little slimmer maybe, but not much. I might actually go back to the Max, I haven't decided yet. I think if you like the one you'll like the other. I guess the one advantage the UAG has is, even though it's still slick plastic the indents on the back give a little more grip, and the volume buttons feel better.
So I bought the Spigen slim armor with kickstand case just recently and found that it is rather a thick case and added bulk to the N6. It in turns made the N6 not be able to fit the car mount I bought. Anyone got recommendation for a good slim case?

Ringke Slim Case.
But keep in mind. Slim cases like this offers less protection.
I really like my Diztronic case. It's thin and feels well protected. A few videos on YouTube where people do drop tests and it came out without a scratch.

The slimmest i have is ringke
Try Orzly case, it is very very thin.
The Ringke Max is actually pretty 'slim' with a lot of protection. If you want close to naked feel, then the Ringke Slim might be best, but really not that much protection.

I bought the Spigen Ultra Hybrid (clear), Thin Fit (clear), Slim Armor and S Wallet. IMO the Slim Armor fit and looked the best, but FAT. The TPUs just made the phone uber FAT(er). The wallet hinge/flap/binder thing is too loose and flabby [I wanted tight form fitting].
I ordered several generic gel jelly slim TPU.
First one to arrive is one with a logo that reads INSTEN and I am very impressed by it.
It's tight (queue up Micheal Meyers), lip is thin and holds on to the frame without going over on to the glass, barely raised ever so slightly higher than the screen.
It makes the screen/viewing pop out (it might be the color I chose, yellow).
The cutouts are great, the thinly covered raised areas over the power and volume rocker are just right (if you have the slim armor you might experience what I have, where touching the buttons is just too sensitive).
Grippy and sturdy. Knocked some on the table, I'd use it to press some buttons, sure..
I might go order more colors.
Usually I like Goospery Mercury Gel TPU cases on my phones, but haven't found any made for the N6.
EDIT: easy in and out from pocket.
Thanks guys for your suggestions. I think I'm going to go with the slick wraps full body because it does not add any bulk and provide some protection.

That INSTEN case is identical to the Caseology cases. Probably made in china, and companies just put their own name on it. But they look OK with medium protection.

I'm not doubting your choice, as it's your phone. But any "protection" you get from a skin will be just to prevent scratches and no drop protection. Good luck.

I dont have the caseology, but from the images I can agree, sans dimple. It's a good thing being at 1/3rd the price. I went ahead and bought green and black as well. It is so far my fave case.
I'll add, you know the form, shape that the phone has, makes it fit well in the hand and really gives it that unique feeling that it is a much smaller phone. This case INSTEN keeps that feeling intact..

Agreed. Fairly protective without being too bulky. Good grip too.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a case that preserves the top heaviness and dramatic tapering of thickness at the bottom of the phone? Basically I'm as concerned about drop protection as preserving the original "feel" of the phone.
Does anyone have both of these and can compare?

The calicase says it is the thinnest and looks really thin but the nilkin seems interesting as well
i got the calicase and it is super thin almost feels like you are not using a case and i love it
I have the Nillkin Nature and love the case. I did purchase the Ringke Fusion Air for comparison as well, and it's thicker than the Nillkin Nature.

How is the grip compared to "regular tpu"? One of the reviews say it is really slippery.
Seems the Nilkin is thicker but also has some extra side grip... Hmm.
The Nillkin case is garbage - such thin TPU that it deforms easily. I have the Ringke SLIM and its a pretty decent choice for a slim case.
It is a little slippery but it looks fantastic
Unfortunately CaliCase doesn't seem to ship to the European Union...
Or outside of the US, for that matter...
man the calicase really looks perfect for me, unfortunately I'm in the EU also and they don't seem to ship here
i have the nillkin natura, it's perfect! the materials are great, and aesthetics of the phone is not damaged by the cover.
black color on s7 onyx black is great.
I have the calicase, and it's definitely the thinnest case I've ever owned. It also does not interfere with my coral edge to edge screen protector (which I'm not a fan of, but that's a different story). As others have stated, it's a little slippery, but not enough to really bother me.
i got the calicase and love it... not too slippery imho. soooo thin
I am another fan of the calicase. However, you should know that it makes the power and volume buttons nearly impossible to depress without trying more than once. Small drawback, but I still love it.

I don't has have either case any longer. I'm now using the Rock thin tpu, Ringke Fusion and the Ringke Onyx.
The Nillkin didn't fit properly after I put a carbon fiber back skin and the Ringke Air was way too thick for my liking.
