Hello everyone
my phone can't connect to PC no matter how many times and solutions that I tried it just does not want to recognize any PC
and I want to update its firmware from 5.1.1 to 7
is there anyway to update it without using PC & Odin for PC ?
also if you have some other solutions for the PC recognition that I should try I'd be happy to see them
& thank you

Make sure drivers are installed correctly and are up to date. Can't you just Update Software OTA directly on the phone?

I'm sorry for the late reply
Unfortunately I can't update software OTA directly on the phone
when I try to do it says "The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a costumer service center"
and for the drivers they are installed correctly even any other S6 Edge is recognized and connected normally except the one that I have

I tried that and nothing happens except that it says that it's charging .. and also in the PC nothing happens
so that's why I though of downloading a firmware and transfer it to the phone via ShareIt and then try to update it just from the phone and without connecting it to the PC

So you mean nothing works except charging? Not even native MTP?
Try another USB cable....additionally check the standard protocol for USB at developer options -> USB configuration.

Hello,
Im trying to flash my phone but having a issue
So i have added the insecure kernel but when i try and do the next part (Run S2 Root) i get the following error
Device is not connected! Please connect the USB cables and try again
Im running the following
S2 Root 1.5.1
Android Version 2.3.6
Kernel Version I9100XWKJ2
Anyone able to help its annoying the hell out of me have tried different USB ports get the same issue
Make sure samsung drivers are installed, try different USB ports, check USB debugging in settings.
If it doesnt work again, try it with a different computer if possible.

That needs to be on, so the problem is elsewhere. Did you install samsung drivers, if you did, have you tried different USB ports?
I have downloaded the drivers and still not working
Still cant get it to work

Hi,
It happened with me too, and there is nothing wrong with the device, its fine.
My friend told me this,
update your Kies software to the latest version, then close the Kies. i mean the kies application should not be running.
Then connect the device and wait for sometime, till the message appears -- MTP connected.
Then open the Kies application, and let the Kies to identify the device.
If it says some error, like device not recognized, then there is an option to debug the connectivity.
Try that option too.
It'll connect surely, but you should be patient.
I think, its the problem with Kies software. I use it only to update the Android firmware. But now, I'm on Custom ROM, so this Kies is no more required for me.
Regards,
Hereticnine.

Correct. Even without Samsung USB drivers installed your PC (I guess running Windows) should show a reaction. At least the PC should report an unknown device.
Maybe you should try installing the drivers manually? Not sure if it's gonna help but might as well try, right?
If that doesn't work either maybe you should try contacting the one you got the phone from. Maybe there's something wrong with the particular device.

OK, one last option. Can a Faulty ROM instillation cause the device not to connect to my PC?
Other than that I guess I should get a replacement for my device.

Okay, you should DEFINITELY check Device Manager and double check that you have the Samsung USB drivers installed. If you have then try the following and let me know if it works:
1. Put the phone in download mode.
2. Launch Odin3 v1.85 (download this version and try it please)
3. Connect your GS3 to a different USB slot than you normally use.
I know the basic troubleshooting sounds very boring, and you've most likely tried the above already, but do give it a go and let me know.

I agree. Windows 10 may not play ball. Try different drivers and/or a pc with an older version of windows. You must reboot the pc each time you change drivers or it won't detect the phone. Use only the usb ports on the motherboard.
