So my wife's razr shut off on its own not even a week after her getting it. So I played around with different chargers till a little white light came on left till morning and nothing. Took it to vzw and they charged it for a few and turned it back on told her to use the cord that came with the razr. The whole time battery was a little more than half full. So today the razr decided to go blank or shut off if you will because it doesn't respond to button presses. Battery was a little less then 3/4 full and laying in bed. No apps installed today since this weekend. Wanted to know if anybody else is having this problem and how it was solved also factory state phone

Soundsike you've got a duff one. Send it back for a replacement
I've never had those problems... If I were you, I would go into recovery, wipe everything, then fastboot the .173. (The data wipe isnt necessary before fastbooting but I would still do it anyway) Before doing that however, I would also take a look at running applications on boot and try to eliminate possibilities. Since you replaced the razr already I would assume the problem had to do with some data somewhere. It could also be worth it to not restore any data from previous backups (Verizon adds things on to backup data and such. When you get ur phone you enter a pin to restore this backup) If you're using a data backup from another phone that could be causing it too. I would also download a battery logging application to make sure somethings not causing terrible battery drains. The best thing I thing would be restoring to an absolutely clean backup with no data and trying that out for a while. Obviously you could have another bad Razr, but I'm more inclined to believe that its a problem with data.

mine the day you received restarted every 5 minutes. take him to warranty, stayed 48 hours. they could not fix and I got a new
do "factory reset" and don't install any apps. if it happens again, you need to exchange the phone
Mine has the same problem. I just saw the last times when it happens.
The phone sends a sound of empty battery, and if you are quick enough, you may hit power button and the lock screen gonna show your batter complete empty, only the red border.
This happened to me:
- Just some minutes after I charged my phone;
- After a factory reset;
- After a fast boot room;
Have no idea when it happens or why. It just happens.
I will send my to warranty as soon as possible.
As far as I know, it is not related with any app or config you do, cause even factory default with no app installed I have got this error :/

I'm an MDM administrator for my company. We have had 4 razrs die with this issue and possibly a 5th today. It's a PITA but I just get them swapped out.
Two days ago, I noticed that there was a firmware update for my Archos 101 while at work. I had my Archos with me but not the AC adapter; the tablet requires the user to plug it in before getting started. I paid a visit to Archos' website and downloaded the update file to my laptop instead, double-checking how to install it. Note that I don't have Internet access at home.
Recently, said tablet had been locking up extremely frequently, and without obvious reason or even any real pattern. I even tried a total device reset (wipe the internal user storage and reset the Android partition back to factory defaults) and it didn't help. I was fearing that the firmware had gotten corrupted, and figured that updating would help fix that.
When I got home that night, though, I was dead tired. I made a mental note to update using the offline method in the morning, although I did have the presence of mind to plug it in and get the battery charged. In the morning, I did as the instructions on Archos's website said: mount the device via USB and transfer the firmware update to the root of the user storage area. Unmount, let it detect it, and give it the okay. Simple enough. I hung around the house long enough to watch for an "update okay!" message, then bolted out the door so I'd make it to work on time.
I didn't return home until about 9 PM. After settling in, I picked up my tablet to check on it and see if the update did the trick. Nope! It froze again before I could even launch an app. Frustrated, I put it back down and held the power button to force a reset. When the screen powered off, I walked away to check on something.
I returned to find that the tablet's green power light (which is normally steady on) was blinking rapidly. As in 20 blinks as second or so. The screen was flickering on for less than a second at a time in roughly one-minute intervals. And - most alarmingly - the unit was HOT. I tried to pick it up and burned my hand a little on the metal backplate.
After some back-and-forth texting with a friend for advice, I ultimately opened up the tablet in an attempt to disconnect the batteries. Turned out that they're soldered to the board, though, so I left the tablet open to give the hot components a chance to cool. I'm hoping that the batteries drain quickly.
I basically have no idea if the tablet can be fixed, and if so, I'm scratching my head over how. Anyone here have any ideas?
Last night I received the 4.0.3 update from Sony in Europe. After installing successfully everything was working perfectly.
I left it out overnight. I put to charge this morning while I was out (it was still working at this stage).
I came back at 6 o'clock and now it won't turn on. I've tried holding down power but nothing happens. It must be fully charged because it was at 70% when I plugged it in. The green light is still on but I can't even get to recovery, the screen is completely black.
What should I do? I'm somewhat experienced in flashing but if I can't even get the screen on then there's not much I can do.
Suggestions?
if this is all gone wrong due a official update it can't be fixed, this is certainly a software problem and it must be repaired by sony, i'm sorry to tell you this..
You could try to press the reset button with a needle or something under the volume buttons. don't know if this will help you but at least you could try
Good luck.
Ps: if you wil send it back to sony, it will take no longer then 10 day's.
YF,
Mahaco.
Thanks for your help. The issue resolved itself, don't know what was wrong.
They do lock up from time to time and you have to reset it with a pin in the reset hole.
I got the lockup myself. First time ever, but only a week after using ISC. I have used table S more than half a year already. So this is probably caused by ICS 4.0.3 upgrade. Not good. Reset helped.
tablet s not booting past sony logo
sony sending box.... hope they canot fix and I get a newer model. I even choose to reset to factory, just more lines of failed to mount and reboots back to sony logo
Finally got box, called yesterday to where it was, they put rush 24 hr. Got home and had two! LOL! all boxed up going out tomorrow to Laredo, TX. Guy said bunch tablest returning backed up a little.

Have a pin handy when you go out with the tablet!lol
Has there been any word, whether official or not how this happens?
I'm curious if it has something to do with a specific app/wi-fi/push notifications.
I don't do anything crazy with my app. Basic web, books, games are pretty much it. I've had my tablet for about 3 months now and up until this weekend it never locked up. I've had to reset it twice now. I'm not gonna walk around with a paper clip so that I can reset my tablet and hope there's a fix for it in the works.

i think bad flash
I got a similar bug. Every time i turn off my tablet S and i want to turn it back on, i have to wait for the battery to drain on the starting screen. thatn when it's drained i charge it and viola, It's working. Can anyone confirm this ?
Hey all, I got my phone into a serious problem this time... And myself too
I don't know what happened but I just plugged my phone in, started charging... , no I didn't leave it all day, when it was charged but I found out that it didn't charge further than 75%
I waited 10 minutes, still nothing.
I unplugged, showed that it was charging, I thought it may be lag and rebooted the phone.
Nothing, still same, I plugged my OTG cable in and weirdly it fixed itself but after pulling it out it got back to "charging"...
After a few tries it did the same on the OTG cable, I tried cleaning the USB input thingy on the phone but nothing...
Now I'm forced to stay at the wall plug because the phone lasts seconds thinking it's charging since we know that it runs full-speed.
I tried getting into recovery but... Well, I powered off the phone, managed to get to fast boot and it showed "hboot searching sad card for updates" or something like that! it takes long so I powered it off again and it started itself up without touching, I assume that's because it thinks it's charging.
Can I do something to get that phone back to life or is it time for a new one?
Anyone getting this problem too? Or did anyone have it and fixed it? Please tell me how
Sad to hear this. Have you tried any other chargers?

I tried 3 different chargers each with 3 different cables, an apple charger, some belkin charger and another charger with 700mA
my dad fixed it somehow until it went empty and had to replug the charger, it fixes itself below 10 and above 20 prcent it goes back weird
Well, things going totally insane now, I wanted to format the internal SD and flash a rom with sideload.
Went recovery, wiped everything, started sideload... Computer gave an error, I think it was something with timeout or something idk anymore...
Tried it 20+ times! all same
So I went to install stock recovery, installed it too, everything passed, then locked boot loader with fastboot oem lock, succeeded too, but it showed security warning, but I just went on and installed the European RUU, which failed due to code 158 image error...
Redownloaded that RUU, same thing...
Downloaded others, ran each for 1.5+ hour! but it seemed to take hours instead 20 minutes so i lost hope, I still am able to unlock boot loader, install recovery and stuff but unable to get a rom on it, can anyone at least tell me how to maybe flash ROM through USB OTG? I know that works, right before my phone died I used a PC mouse on it...
I need to fix this phone and sell it quickly, support is dropped also so that's the best idea, I cannot afford to give this phone for maybe 10 euro so I really have to get this fixed.
I got patience until mid-October because the OPO comin out probably, anyway I'm waiting for ANY suggestions to get a rom on it, may be stock, custom idc, I just need it working because I found out that the USB charging problem is hardware, not software, my phone still won't turn off
Thanks in advance -ozi
So guys, today I got a bit upset and disappointed because of the loss I almost made, yeah, almost.
Because I sorted out how to get the phone back to life when this issue happens.
Well, it all started with a full memory, yeah I had 5/64GB free space left.
And my phone got the bug/hardware fail then too, I still don't know what it is, but that isn't fixed yet.
I thought like "what can go wrong if I just try to put my phone to all ZERO".
So without even stopping for a second and thinking what can make a problem, I formatted the whole phone.
I knew I was going to use ADB Sideload but not that it was going to take 3 days.
So I went to Sideload (PhilZ recovery) and while side loading the stuff, it got stuck, approximately 30 percent where it stopped working.
The error was something with protocol if I remember correctly since I'm not having this issue anymore.
This happened maybe 20 times, yes, I was freaking out at the command prompt trying to figure out why it didn't work.
Anyway then after hours of searching my brain reminded me of the ADB Push command I once read somewhere... And immediately researched for it, how to use it and such...
Then I rebooted recovery, did ADB push rom.zip /sdcard ... FAILED
Why did it fail, well, I didn't know...
Got very disappointed this time and went to what I was doing: searching on Google, xda...
Took over a day, to be honest, really, I must say I posted this WAY too early, because I could've searched first.
You know, school, laziness, sleepiness and such.
But back to the point. I've finally found some old files sitting there, taking their space in my HDD, they were These files.
(Download them if you want to fix your phone too.)
I opened it, TOTALLY forgot about it, not even remembering it was there...
I saw flash TWRP recovery and flashed it, since I had no adb connection, the first one failed but then fastboot opened, and my device was at fastboot at that moment, knowing that you need fastboot to flash a recovery.
SUCCEEDED, even if I knew that it was going to succeed, I was happy because it was one of the first things which succeeded .
So I opened recovery, and went to advanced - ADB Sideload
I tried everything again, and this time uninstalled htc sync manager (not the drivers).
It took long, just about 30minutes to transfer a 980MB file, MagioROM...
But at least it WORKED, now I got a working ROM.
Now about the USB issue, I'm going to look further into that, I'll change the title to "ROM and USB Charging issue".
Tho I really think it's just the hardware. And I'll update this when I get some further.
And to the fast-panicing people amongst us (including me), do research and don't give up. This way you will less likely have an expensive brick
So today I went on and opened up my phone, I got nothing better to do anyway, it was still thinking that it's charging, but I made sure it weren't the pogo pins by cleaning them and checking the cables...
It was an USB connector problem, when I touched it a bit with a screwdriver, it went back normal and when I plugged it in it got messed up again.
So the people who got this problem: go warranty before it's too late or do it yourself by buying parts and replacing them, I must say, one x+ was one of the worst jobs to open up a phone tho lol
Dear all,
I hope there is someone here, who can help me with my issue. I lost my hope after trying almost everything found in the internet.
So here is the problem: I was using my phone as a navigation in my car. The battery was low, so I used the car charger and kept it plugged, while driving. I observed, that even though I was charging my phone via car charger, the battery continued to get low and finally the phone turned off. After reaching home, I plugged my phone with an original quick charger from Xiaomi. Unfortunately I was not able to charge my phone and it got stuck in a bootloop, with a phone showing Mi Logo, vibrating and switching off repeatedly.
When I connect the phone with the laptop, it is shortly recognized (when it is booting) and then disconnected and again and again. I can go to fastboot mode but I cannot flash my phone using MiFlash, because I get an error: Failed. Low battery.
Does anyone know the solution? I would really appreciate any help.

Are you on miui or a custom rom?
I think I know what problem you are facing, your device's battery is actually drained of all the power, like it empty. So drained that it doesn't even have the energy to turn on the phone to get power. I had a lenovo a560 last year, and it had the same problem, so what i had to do was either leave it for charging and pray that it begins charging (and sometimes after 3 or 4 hours the battery started charging as normal when it got 1% battery), or the second method was that i took the removable battery out and charged it externally using wires. The second method worked since the battery got enough power, to keep the phone on during charging.
Now the problem is that redmi note 4 doesn't have a removable battery, so either you can leave the phone for charging, and actually forget about it for a day, or the only other thing is that you have to visit a service center.
Not joking about the charging process but that is the only thing you can do.

But wait, if the phone is able to stay in fastboot mode, why not charge it there? Like just open fastboot mode, and connect the charger. It will atleast charge some percent.

Hi, i thought about it before, but the phone was staying in fastboot mode for a very short time, to short to charge any resonable amount of power, and kept rebooting quickly. I left the phone for two days without trying to fix it and I tried just now to go into fastboot and try to charge. It stays now for quite a time in fastboot so I will keep my fingers crossed that I will be able to charge. I will update here if it was a success or not. Meanwhile, thank you for all your ideas! Lets see what happens...

Unfortunately, no good results. I kept my phone in fastboot mode multiple times, but I was not able to charge my phone. Turning off fastboot is only causing phone to stuck in bootloop.
I also had an impression, that the phone was not warm at the back, where the battery is. Now I am starting to think that the battery is completely dead and I have to change it. But how is it even possible, that after 8 MONTHS the battery is completely f***ed up?
Can I somehow check the state of the battery? I would like to be sure, that there is no way to bring the battery back to life and I really have to go somewhere to change it. I am really reluctant to have a battery from some unknown company. :crying:

Are you rooted?
This is really a kernel fault man, I had the same issues with mediatek Chipsets before, but you are saying in "8 months", so that means you are well covered in warranty. You can send an e-mail to Xiaomi customer care or visit a service centre with the phone bill. I am pretty sure a faulty battery or such happening can be covered using warranty, plus I would suggest NOT to get the battery changed from a 3rd party store.

Sorry, I actually don't know much about the phones, so I don't know what 'rooted' means. I never did anything with my phone, software or whatever more than required.
With the warranty there is a different problem in my case: I bought my phone in China when I was there for my business trip and I live in Europe (yeah I know, my own fault, I should have bought it at home). I have bill and everything but I guess it will not help. Besides, Xiaomi gives 6 months warranty for battery (in case this is really the battery).

Knowing that you are not rooted is a positive thing when regarding the warranty, ok so here is the thing which you should do. But first of all please stop the battery charging process, since this can now be harmful and can damage the components. Ok so here's what you should do -
[email protected]
Send an email to that address regarding the battery problem. And provide the details including about the drainage of battery, and the methods which you tried. Plus attach the bill also. It doesn't really matter where you bought it, because the bill serves as to give them information that the device you own is actually bought by you, and it contains details about device like IMEI etc. If they respond and say that you can send your device to them, (in this case they will give you an address) you should do that. If they say they cannot help it, then consider getting a repair from a local shop.
I just checked my phone's inside and found out that you cannot externally charge the battery, so this means you need a repair, unfortunately.
Before ending this reply I just wanna clear the fact that,
The battery isn't damaged, it just isn't able to get power,(here it is because of the device) this means that if somehow some energy can be provided to the battery, the battery need not be replaced.
I wish you luck , may you be able to fix your phone again.

I am still waiting for the response from Global Service. If nothing happens, I will go to local 'mi center', where I know they can repair xiaomi phones, but not on warranty.
Apart from that, phone is still dead, but I have not tried yet anything else. I found this: https://xiaomifirmware.com/guides-and-tips/fix-bootloop-redmi-note-4-mtk/
But I am not sure, if this should work. Anyone have tried?

That post shows you how to enter deep flash mode. You can give it a try. If that works, Voila, If it does't better go the service center.
So I got the response from service (it took them ages). Maybe it will help someone:
With respect to your concern, I would request you to please follow some troubleshooting steps in order to resolve your issue:
Try to charge your device with another compatible charger for at least 30 minutes
Long press power button for 10-15 seconds and check whether the device is responding or not
If the issue persists please follow the below mentioned steps:
Note: The below mentioned procedure deletes the data you have on your phone.
Sign Out from your Mi Account :-
Go to the settings
Select Mi Account
Confirm to Sign out
Create a backup : -
Go to the settings
Go to the additional settings
Go to the backup and reset
Go to the local backup
Go to the backup
Select system and apps
Then, select backup so that a backup would be created
After creating the backup, you can find your backup file through the below mentioned steps:
Go to the "explorer"
Select "storage" option
Then, "MIUI"
You will get a "backup" option
Select "all backup"
In this folder, you will be able to see your "backup file"
(Note :- Please save the backup file on your PC/Laptop so that your important data would be prevented)
Factory data reset :-
Go to the settings
Go to the additional settings
Go to the backup and reset
Tap on factory data reset
In order to restore your backup file, please follow the below mentioned steps:
Go to the settings
Go to the additional settings
Go to the backup and reset
Go to the local backup
After that, select your "backup file"
Then, "restore" it
I did not try anything from this yet, I have my phone at home, but maybe it will help some of you.
btw. the previous method from the link (deep flash mode) is not working for me.
PEOPLE I FIXED MY PHONE!!! I used again and again this method, which I have already posted before: https://xiaomifirmware.com/guides-and-tips/fix-bootloop-redmi-note-4-mtk/
I didn't work at the beginning, so I left my phone and actually wanted to wait till I go back home to my country for the weekend and visit Xiaomi service, but FINALLY IT WORKED!!! I cannot explained what was the reason that this time it clicked. My phone was completely drained, left for long time without touching. As a result I have a battery icon now and it is charging, no bootloop anymore. Hope this method would help someone. Be patient and try multiple times!
So it is not software problem causing the bootloop
So it is not a software, but only hardware - the battery - as the only problem in this case. I am facing a very similar case with my Redmi Note 4x Mediatek (4/64 Memory) just starting Friday morning (9Feb). I thought it was charging overnight, but in the morning found the power totally drained, and stucked not be able to recharge for hours. This phone is still under warranty (9month use) but ridiculously the Official Service Agent said they need up to 40days to fix this phone. This is worst experience comparing to other phones I ever had.
