Xperia X or Xiaomi mi5 - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

I wanna know you guys opinion, wich one wold you prefer and why without thinking on price?

if you consider specs ONLY then Mi5 is good!
however as sony fan, I will always go with xperia! ,
mi5 has its own benefits, MIUI can never be closer to AOSP android and it gives so many options to control your device performance and appearance.
such as
- various meters on status bar (data speed/traffic)
- led flash off by power button
- no navigation bar gives you more area on screen
- navigation buttons can be swapped and light of the buttons can be on/off
- HOME button can be customized to various of options
- blob can be activated
- mi5 can be used as remote control for your tv/dvd/ac etc
downsides of mi5 and other mi mobiles in general
- snapdragon based mi phones have very low volume output specially on stable rom
- boot unlocking mi phones has long process, you must flash developer ROM , over stable rom (will wipe all data) and then request KEY from mi and they will send you sms in 5-15 days THEN you can unlock your bootloader in order to flash stable rom and gain ROOT ACCESS
- mi phone on unlocked bootloader don't easily get updated via OTA and you always have to download full latest ROM and FLASH it using xiaomi flasher which WIPES all data
XPERIA X
- amazing camera
- never hangs
- simple interface
- allows you to disable many bloatware apps (if you don't wana root)
- unlocking is easy,
-flashing is easy
- you can flash without loosing any data,
downside of xperia x and xperias in general
- unlocking bootloader will wipe your DRM KEYS (but xperia x running on android 6 ) (it can be extracted before unlocking bootloader using dirtycow script
- low volume in X
- heats up ALOT, you can iron your clothes
- when heats up! device lowers down processing speed, camera functions get disabled and brightness gets reduced
- very bad batter 2600mah , can only survive 6-9 hrs if you use 4g and movie with gaming

My device doesn't have any CWM, TWRP bla bla custom recovery, as Yet its not available for my phone. I rooted my phone, Installed Xposed Framework with Terminal Emulator, successfully done. installed Flashfire (No, Not Flashify), Nandroid Backed Up. Then Flashed Dolby Atmos Successfully. Installed Viper4Android successfully.
Next Day, I uninstalled Both, and tried Flashing XtremeMusic Mod with Flashfire. But I am Bricked.
As I have no custom recovery installed, (Actually I even can't access to stock recovery too, tried different hardware key combinations, took help from Internet also, but no luck. Sometimes pressing these keys make be stuck in boot loop only. Recovery opens when I use some rebooting apps but then stuck in No Command screen).
After bricking my phone, I went to service centre, and they flashed Stock ROM and everything fine again. Then at home, I tried to restore that backup I made with Flashfire with Flashfire but flashfire showedan error message that Unable to decompress the backup. rebooted and Again Bricked. No custom recovery installed so I can't recover to normal state again. Bricked Again within 1 hours. My brain is not working now.
if flashfire can't restore its own nandroid backup, then why there is a backup option available?
At every week, I brick my phone, Visit Micromax Care and Fix it (They do not void warranty even after root). No custom recovery/ ROM available for my phone, where lower end devices like Micromax Bolt A65 has custom recovery available.
Now my phone is bricked, no recovery available, so how to fix it?

New to huawei, Root & Emui, help.

So i just got my mate 10 and i want help in understanding things, plz?
- notification center and icons are very big and close, is there a way to decrease their sizes ? (with or without root), i come from AOSP and things look so huge on this phone.
- is it possible to unlink the ringtone and notification volume ?
- is it possible to wake the phone with "ok google" ? (with or without root)
- is it possible to get google lens in google photos ? (i guess that requires to change the device ID in the boot file?)
- will adding a launcher like nova cause troubles with widgets and other EMUI functions?
- is it possible to adjust the swiping and tapping on the fingerprint sensor to customize what they do?
- is there a faster way to install update on the phone? maybe through pc or another source because huawei server are very slow and takes a lot of time.
- Also just discovered, that the phone supports either 2 simcards or 1 sim and a microSD right ?
Root questions:
I m used to rooting and flashing twrp and so on, but i want to ask before messing with my huawei:
- is it easy to brick the phone?
- So if i rooted the phone. will i still receive updates? and if yes, would that just remove the root or brick my phone?
- I read so many users re-brand their phones because chinese roms or so have more options? what are these options? and does it worth it? can the language be changed to English if on chinese rebranding?
- The rooting will void warranty, but is it possible to unroot, and have it back fresh, if an issue was discovered later?
- if you have your phone rooted, what apps are using that requires root?
- if i want to rebrand my phone one day, is my only source funkyhuawei ? or it can be done through twrp, flashing, like any other rom on any regular phone ?
so far those thank you very much for taking time to read and respond

Stuck with Android 4.4

Hi there !
So I've bought my Xperia Z2 Tablet back in 2014 and I've immediately unlocked bootloader to root it. Of course I did NOT backup the TA partition etc...
Several weeks later I realized I couldn't update system. Since then, my system has stayed with android Kitkat 4.4.
But now, 4 years later, even Netflix isn't supported anymore on Android 4.4 so I need to update badly.
But actually I'm pretty lost with all the Xperia scene. My tablet is actually rooted and bootloader is unlocked. It has Busybox, Rommanager and Superuser installed.
I've tried PC companion, which of course tells me he can't update my tablet because of the unlocked bootloader.
Then I4ve installed Flashtool, I've tried locking bootloader but then my tablet can't boot anymore (Flashtool says it's connected in "flash mode") and I have to unlock bootloader for tablet to boot.
I'm pretty lost between Firmware, Kernel, ROMs. From what i've read I think I'm supposed to upgrade to 23.5.A.1.291 but not sure what market/operator I should pick..
And then I can't find a simple walkthrough. Most of them are outdated or missing files or steps...
Any help about how I should proceed would be much appreciated.
Thanks
If you have an unlocked bootloader you can easily install even Oreo (8.1 Android). Just flash the original firmware for your device (even Kitkat are available in flashtool to download-try some press media version).
I have japanese SOT21 Au operator locked tablet with forever locked bootloader and i've managed to replace standard 5.0.2 version by flashtool to 6.0.1 (taiwanese version 23.5.A.0.575) - which removed space from 32Gb to 16Gb (because SGP521 is less), but also resolved many problems - the sound level which was awful quiet on 5.0.2 now much much louder :good: and even Sony display enhancements works (i thought i will loose DRM keys with this flashes, but they ok as i see, i don't backed them up and everything much faster working and even the battery is better - less energy use with Battery Saver on (the Stamina mode on original was useless) and at last it charges during like watching Twitch stream in Source quality (on 5.0.2 there was strange behavior when tablet cannot sustain energy charging with discharging, so battery was like stuck in specific percent forever, just awful - watching something 1080p with full brightness with charger attached are just impossible short. I have 2011 Toshiba Thrive tablet which can work without user-removable battery, can work only from original charger-19volts, i'm using it like internet-TV, they don't make them like that anymore).
I'm amazed how easy it was - just flashing, no any dancing with root or anything. As i remember - first i flashed the original firmware, then cleaned to factory settings and flashed taiwanese SGP521 tablet firmware on it - it works from the first boot.

nubia Z18 mini apps crashing

Hello guys,
I buoght the z18 mini ( nx611j ) 6 months ago and it camed with some vendors firmware (geekbuying maybe) , witch meant that I could not receive OTA updates;
-- like a month or two ago I flashed ( using TWRP) V2.29 official firmware ( nothing weird during the process - maybe a bit , the fact that i had to delete some files - the pattern security had gone mad and didn't alowed me to unlock the phone ), I installed GAPPS via TWRP
-- after that all mixed felings :
PROS - better imput screen response
- I could check for updates in Settings / System update
- almost instant unlock via fingerprint
- even faster unlock via face recognition
- probably more improvements which I don't recall and
CONS - PUBG start crashing , BIG TIME ....like more than once per match.... MOORE... to be more accurate I had to start it
over after every crash
- other apps start crashing aswell but still not that often , not in a worring manner
- maybe more Displaying Popup Ads
I flashed MAGISK , update it and rooted the phone and checked if I pass Safetynet - one didn't
and V2.33 firmware came out, Google it for infos , flash it via twrp , flash gapps, belive I lost root and twrp in the process, no problem ..... but hell broke loose
- even more apps crashing , including Chrome
- unable to set fingerprint, pattern or facelock - I have no lockscreen option activated
- still not able to receive whatsapp messages , I couldn't receive with neither vendors firmware nor v2.29 , only received
messages when unlocking screen (phone), I tried everything in the past and hoped an update will solve it
Now I have 4.4.78 kernel version from 3 Jan 2019 ( belived my problems were past and dust, but nooo sir)
should I flash a custom rom ?
so if somewone have some tips would be much appreciated
Now, I use nubia rom (Chinese) v 2.36 with flash with twrp. work fine.
pls, bear in mind that all default of permission of android 8.x so serious therefore all app will not gain all permission as developer want. You have to give gain permission by manual. again. Try to do.
As your problem, it seem to be good clear all cache, davik and data
Wipe all to settlement it.
There is a trick durng flash rom you need to do a lot. Try to search article and following.

[HELP!] System UI won't start after tweaking Quick Setting Tile

Hi all,
I did a stupid mistake this afternoon. I downloaded the System UI Tuner app and tweak the status bar to only show ONE quick setting tile upon first swipe down (obviously wont work but idiot me still think that it is a good idea to give it a try anyway). Upon pulling the slider to 1, the System UI crash immediately and only show black screen and everything stopped working. I am desperate now and really need kind people here to help me troubleshoot this to reset System UI to get it working again. I will list down some informations below.
Device:
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2
Just updated to Android Pie today
What is working now:
- Power Menu
- Safe Mode
- Google Assistant
- Stock Recovery
- Fastboot
What is not working (Can't find a way to make it work):
- System UI
- ADB (USB debugging was turned on but I cannot authorize my phone without System UI)
- Unlocking the screen
- Boot loader not unlocked
- Internet (Data was not on before crash and WiFi require me to sign in)
What have I tried:
- Turn it off and on
- Boot into Safe Mode
- Wipe Cache in Recovery
- Flashing (dirty) the same firmware again with recovery
Kindly request if more information is needed for trobleshoot.
Of course, the last resort is to do a factory system reset but I really wish I can keep my precious stuff in my phone... and also I've set up my phone to act as 2 factor authentication for my Google Accounts which I might be a problem if I reset my phone.
Thanks In Advance!
