Guys please help me out, I just rooted my phone and installed custom recovery, but while trying to flash any ROM I am getting MD5 file not found error. And the installation doesn't start.
Bro,check settings of twrp that verifications are disabled
use twrp from
twrp.me
use latest vesion..if md5 is not found it will skip the md5 automatically
.use the latest official twrp

Hi everyone, I just purchased a used thor from ebay and am excited about flashing custom roms for it. It came with TWRP 2.8.6 and HDX nexus (4.0.5) already installed, so a great plus and I was able to flash the newest refresh, Fire Nexus rom, BUT with a slight hiccup as it gave me an error, "E:Error executing updater binary in zip". I followed the advice from a google search result that said to reboot back into recovery after the failed attempt and try again, but without wiping. This time it worked.
My question is, if I have a custom recovery TWRP 2.8.6 and now a custom rom, fire nexus with root, does this mean the bootloader is unlocked? I guess a bit confused. Also, would the TWRP error message be an indication of an outdated TWRP or something else?
At some point I would like to move to to CM 14.1, but realize I would need to update TWRP and have an unlocked bootloader to achieve this. Thanks everyone. I am a complete noob to flashing!
- Current Recovery: TWRP 2.8.6
- Current Rom: kk-fire-nexus-rom-thor-20161017
- Rooted
- Made a backup of HDX Fire Nexus
- SuperSU required a binary update, done automatically by TWRP.
Verify the hash value of the ROM , just to confirm it's not corrupted. If it is fine boot into in twrp under "mount" options de-select system and try reflashing. You may need to reboot after deselecting it.

Thanks for the reply. Rom was ok I think..I checked the zip in es file explorer before flashing and all the directories and files were intact. I checked the mount as you said and the system had previously been deselected. I did read that selecting and then deselecting might work. The next time I flash a rom I will def try this method again.
I could really use some help here. I'm using a Mate 10 regular with the latest version of Pretoriano80's TWRP installed (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904). I am currently on ALP-L29 8.0.0.136 and trying to install the 8.0.0.138 update. But when I tap download and install, the phone reboots to the TWRP terminal but the update fails with:
check_write_data_to_partition,write data error
update_huawei_pkg_from_ota_zip: update package from zip failed.
E:unknown command [errno]
Updater process ended with ERROR: 9
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/HwOUC/151698/update.zip
The phone is rooted with Magisk but I've tried unrooting and even factory resetting the device but still the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TWRP can't install update.zip by default.
But you can use Firmware Finder, manually download b138 (update.zip, public and hw data zips for L29)
Then download HuRUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
Go to /sdcard/HWFF/151698/ and place HuRUpdater here (optional: place TWRP named recovery.img here too if you want to flash it else you will get stock recovery).
Then flash HuRUpdater.zip in /sdcard/HWFF/151698/ and it will install update.
After this you have to reflash Magisk as ramdisk is now stock.

It worked, thank you so much!
trying to flash TWRP on my S5 but when trying to enter recovery i get "could not do normal boot", "Secure download : Enabled", "UDC start"
looking online people seem to have problems with having Odin not recognise the device or stuck on the bootloading page but my issue is reserved to just not being able to flash the recovery.
I'am still able to flash CF Auto Root and the stock firmware via Odin. also tried to check if my bootloader is unlocked but does not show up as a fastbootable device (i already had twrp 3.0.1 and lineage os 14.1 so i would assume it already is unlocked)
sorry for missing any needed information
Hi , try to flash latest twrp recovery with Odin.
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.2.3-0-klte.img.tar.html
If that doesn't help you flash this stock recovery with Odin , if that doesn't work download latest stock firmware for your device and Region and extract just recovery.img and make it as tar or tar.md5 to be flashable with odin .

If you try to install the incremental OTA zip with TWRP, it will not install. You have to wait to download the full ROM and then flash it.
In case you don't want to wait, dirty flash the current ROM and it will overwrite TWRP with stock recovery. Now you can flash the incremental OTA zip through stock recovery and after setting up the phone, flash TWRP if needed.
Hey guys,
I'm currently stuck at installing a Custom ROM on my Redmi Note 4/mido.
Everytime I want to flash a ROM using TWRP, it throws error 7. I already tried the solution to just delete the assert-line from the update-script, but it is still not working.
I've tried...
- RessurectionRemix & PixelExperience
- TWRP 3.3.1, 3.3.0, OrangeFox Recovery
I appreciate any help, I really don't get it....
Thanks!
Luke this?
I had this. Turnes out the md5 was different from the original.
Just redownload the files again or check the md5
