Hi. The phone application was not functioning well and the F/C dialog showed up. I powered off the phone and from that point, the phone won't turn on.
The battery was fully charged before this happened.
When I press the power button, the phone vibrates for half a second, the screen brightens up but does not show anything but a black screen.
I removed SIM and SD cards, removed the battery and performed the above steps but nothing happened.
I also tried to put on the charger to see what's going on. Once I plug the charger, the phone's screen brightens but shows only blank (even without pressing the power button)
When connected to the charger, the green light for charging is on for some minutes, then goes off automatically.
I tried to connect it to the PC, and PC Companion finds the device as usually. It even shows the dialog on the pc screen to mount the device.
I tried a hard reset, but does not work
On some point, the sony logo appeared and then a dialog saying: "sorry process system is not responding". The first time I pressed Force Close and the phone turned off. Immediately after that, the phone turned on and showed the exact message. I pressed "Wait" but nothing happened in the next 15 minutes.
I called Sony's support center and they suggested a software update. Did the process exactly as it should, but again, even after the software update the screen shows nothing but black. It is all the time brightened for some reason.
I tried to turn off the phone for some time by removing the battery, but as soon as I put the battery back on, the phone's screen brightens and stays that way forever.
The phone was functioning perfectly up until this issue. The only application I had installed apart from some games, was AWDLauncher. On the screen I had only a TASK widget and a battery status widget.
The phone is 3 months old and has been always in perfect condition.
ANY help would be appreciated!!!!
Many Thanks
Try to format phone with this method hope it should work as it seems the issue is with OS only ..

I tried the steps found in the link you gave me, but I couldn't go any further after step no (5) from the tutorial, as it would require to enable Debugging mode and I cannot access the OS (since the device won't turn on).
Is there a way to format all the contents of the device and have them replaced by running SEUS (as it always says that my device is up to date now)?
Was it this:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
That Sony Ericsson told you to do?
If not, use that.
Download it, follow the steps when it says you have the latest version, press "Install Anyway".
Hope this works.
Hi itTim. thanks for the response
this is what i did but no improvement at all ((
Sounds like you broke your LCD screen somehow.
That would suck because I broke mine and it cost me $200 to fix.
Hi Hypercore.
Yes that could be the problem. The thing is that I always took rally good care of the phone, always carried in a leather pouch and never droped it. How sensitive is this lcd anyway?? Did you notice any cracks on your lcd or was the problem simillar to mine?
Thanks
When you turn on the phone does the lcd backlight turn on?
If so, look for any faint lines of color (usually a hairline size). If you see any of those then your screen is cracked.
the backlight is on, but there are no lines of colour on the lcd screen.
another weird thing is that the green light on the top blinks one or two times every time i put on the battery. even if the phone is off, once I insert the battery turns on automatically after a couple of seconds.
If all else fails you could try to flash back to your original fw with the tools here:

That won't do anything.
I had almost the same issue. Nothing worked. But, when I removed the battery and left it for a day (24h) without it, it just started working again. Still working without issues..
Good luck!

Phones are very wierd pieces of technology. I once bricked my k610i and that's a phone that's supposed to be impossible to un-brick, but out of nowhere a month or so later i picked it up, hit power and it turned on perfectly. Made no sense at all, but it worked.
Taking the battery out for a long time probably took all the electrical charges from it (kind of like how a computer power supply / monitor can hold power charges) and reset your handset.

Indeed. It could be a frozen chip, memory fault, power-regulator and so on.

if you have done this and did not worked , then it is the LCD.
send it to workshop and check it there.
Guys i Really need the solve of this problem , my xperia has blank screen now without backlight and the phone completely doesn't work . when i put the battery and prees the switch botton it gives me 3 red signals , i've updated and hard reset but it didn't work , and btw the LCD is fine , any idea. did removing the battery worked???? . please answer
After a looooot of time since my latest post, finally my Xperia came back to life. There was a battery failure which means the phone was ok all the time. Weird thing is that the led light showed that the battery was charging ok. I removed the battery and after a lot of time it is working ok again. This was really really odd.
FYI for anyone else that gets this issue.
I just had this for the past hour after trying to change my baseband....could not get it back for anything.
What I did finally try was run another baseband via flash tool, connected to usb and it started flashing....after flash phone powered on again...yeah I agree with everyone, that is freaking scary when it happens.
My galaxy S3 is showing a very weird problem. I was using the phone and before reaching home the battery when completely flat. When I arrived home and plugged the phone to the wall charger the screen remains dark, black. Now the battery is full charged (green light) but the screen remains to the same estate. When someone calls me the phone rings. When I plug it to the computer I can see the files inside the different drives. I reinstalled the OS that is 4.3 but still same problem. I didn't drop the phone and It didn't have any shock.
That is weird. I am thinking of a dead screen but before going for a chirgucal operation on my beloved phone I wanted to ask if that couldn't be a software problem.
Happy to hear from your experiences.
Boot into download mode, volume down + home then power button. If the screen is dead in download then it is hardware.

never heard this type of problem
try to go into recovery and check if it displays anything
If successful do factory reset
In download mode i can see nothing. That is really weird. I am letting the battery drain completely and i will check. Thank you for your replies
I wanted to upgrade so far what i am getting. The screen while dark, black is reacting to touch actions: for exemple when i lock the phone with the power button i can hear the lock sound;when i unlock with the lide action on the screen, I can hear the unlocking sound. I think that must be a weird system problem. If the screen was broken will it react to such touch actions?
Lide=slide. I can actually take a call with the slide action on the screen. When someone calls me i just have to slide my finder at the proper place on the screen to take the call. I need help please.
Most probably its the hardware. Your LED seems to be ditching you. And yes a bad led can still response to touch despite of being black all the way. Actually it's the digitizer that responds to the touch NOT the LED itself.
In your cas3 so far from your feedback I can say that you are having a bad LED everything else including the digitizer is working well.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Thank you i w
ill try it check it tomorrow. I will try to install another firmware, may be 4.0.4. The one i was using i just installed it 2 days ago.
I have this problem: youtube.com/watch?v=chvRbwgT9n8
Sprint Galaxy S3, unrooted, stock
Basically one night my phone would not turn on after the battery completely drained out. Put on charger but phone would not turn on. Did the spin test on original battery and it seemed busted. Ordered a new battery, put it into phone, charged for a few hours and have the same problem the above youtuber does. The battery icon looks identical (both the grey and ~90% one).
1) If phone is unplugged nothing happens, can't start into recovery/download/boot.
2) If phone is plugged in it will show grey battery icon for like 10s, then go to a green battery screen where it shows the battery is ~90% full. The red charging light stays on.
3) I can boot into recovery mode if the phone is plugged in but if I try to normal boot the phone it will 50% get to the S3 splash screen, vibrate, and then turn off, and then 50% of the time it will boot to the home screen but wifi and data will not work (the battery icon will show 100% at this point). After a few seconds the phone will vibrate, turn off, and return to the grey battery icon swirly and then back to the 90% green battery screen.
4) I've tried wiping cache and doing factory reset but doesn't seem to phase it.
5) Reflashing via Odin to stock doesn't fix issue.
Any ideas? It doesn't seem like the power button issue because usually in those cases the battery shows as low or it will be stuck in a constant repeating cycle. This just seems like the phone is not drawing any power from the battery. Thanks.

You posted this in the wrong forum, but anyway, try downloading an app that tells you the charging current going into your phone so you can see whether any power is actually going into the battery. Have you tried plugging it into different power ports around your house / using usb + computer to charge?

No, will try that.
Update: so it appears that the longer I leave it on the charger the longer I can use it while connected. The issue now is that Wifi and data will not enable, sound doesn't work, bluetooth doesn't work. I found someone else with _exactly_ the same issue who had a weird fix:

OK, Czech this out, I took my sim card and SD card out of the phone and tried to start it, and guess what? IT FREAKING CAME ON!!! It obviously wont function without the SIM card, and it prompted me to turn off the phone and reinstall the SIM, but after doing that, it started right back up like it was new.SO EVERYONE GIVE THAT A SHOT. We'll see if it gives me any issues.

The problem for me is that the Sprint version doesn't have a SIM card and I'm not using a SD card. Is there any reason for this madness?

It sounds like you might need to flash a new modem. I'm not 100% sure though since I don't own the phone, you should post it on the Sprint S3 forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-sprint/help

http://i.imgur.com/eYhCtMr.jpg?1There are many people that changed their LCD (Z, Z2 ,Z3) and then were unable to startup the phone.
Of course one might think, is the display broken, did I mess it up myself, etc etc...
Here are the symptoms. If you have the same symptoms, then this will fix your Z2!
- the phone does not boot. Black screen. Will not do anything else then 3 blinks when you press the power on
- without battery, and cable in a charger (not in computer!), will show a battery logo on the LCD
- with battery in the phone and cable in a charger (not in computer!), will make the "Im charging the battery"-light burn red and after a number of seconds (but not always?) a bit dimmed red.
- the phone vibrates if you do the trick with holding the on button and the volume button and keep them pressed (without battery), but nothing more will happen.
- adb does not recognise the phone at all. Fastboot does, but ONLY without battery
- the battery is fully charged, and NOT the problem
- you can flash, unlock the bootloader etc, but only without the battery
- changing the battery with a new one, does not solve the problem.
You have all that? Great..
- open the back of the phone (probably still open )
- take the battery out and concentrate on the part where the battery connector is.
- take a deep breath and keep calm
- solder a very tiny, thin cable from one part to the other (look at the picture).
If the picture is not clear enough, just ask, and I will answer as soon as I can.

Hmm interesting,

Always a bright red led
- the phone vibrates if you do the trick with holding the on button and the volume button and keep them pressed (without battery), but nothing more will happen.
No vibration, even tried the elastic band trick
- adb does not recognise the phone at all. Fastboot does, but ONLY without battery
If only if the PC would recognise something connected. so no adb
- the battery is fully charged, and NOT the problem

Well i tried this trick and it worked however today after many months the phone just will no longer charge. The battery is in good condition etc but the charge is just too slow to give it enough power.
I cannot work out why it does not charge at full speed any more
My Z2 has been lying dead in a drawer for over a year now. I thought it was gone for good so I thought what the hell it can't get worse than it is so I gave this a try and it ****ing worked!!
I registered just to say Thanks. My Z2 is alive again :good::good:

It works. thank you so much. I was so attached to my z2 that I bought an original sony screen for replacement. Imagine the deception with these blinking lights. I would like to know why this needs to be done? anyone?
Hello,
after reading your solution I tried to get a very tiny cable for connecting the two points. I didn't have enough patience getting it working.
After trying it without success, I remembered in past, I had to modify AMD CPUs to overclock them. There I used a simple pencil making a line to connect them.
I didn't think long about that, then simply tried it, and had luck with it. My Z2 is now booting again! I'm happy with my solution!
Hope this will help some other people, who also don't have enough patience.

Million thanks, it worked. I had the phone broken for years and this fixed it. Though it was hard to solder.
Thank you
Just wanted to say thank you for this solution.
I had a similar issue when I put a new battery in it wouldn't turn on. I had the three blinking red lights.
No I have done this it works.
I used Car Window Demister Repair Solution liquid and it work just as well. Got a little puff of smoke but appears to be working okay now.
Again thank you for your help.
you are genius...totally work
Hello everyone. I am also desperate and I came across this solution. I bought the soldering tools however I was unable to do it so I wanted to ask you more about the process. What wire did you use to connect two points? I have 0.8mm soldering wire and it seems to be too fat for this. Also, the guy mention that he did it with pencil. How?
Thanks in advance
It helped me too. Was Xperia Z2, worked well before display replacement, battery at 3,95V, despite of it three red blinks when attempting to start, glowing red while on DC, but not charging (power consumption 0,133A though). Sometimes three vibras when attempting to Power+VolUp while on DC. Black screen only, no logo no nothing.
Hello, friends
Out of the blue, my S6 Edge tried to restart, but got stuck in a loop at the Samsung Logo. One or two times it went to "insert pin" and then restarted again. I tried to Force Restart and it didn't solve the problem.
After a few tries, I managed to wipe the cache partition. Now it's simply bricked with a black screen and a Solid White LED. I can't restart it, enter download mode or safe mode or anything. Odin doesn't recognize it at all. Is there anything I could try?
The phone is not rooted.

So vol down + home + power will not get you to download mode?
How about recovery? Vol up + home + power?
This happened to me before and the way i got out of it was hold only vol down + power as soon as the screen went off completely (no led lit) switch to download mode combo.
Tried both of the commands. They didn't work. I will let it drain the battery completely and then see what happens.

reminds me of the bad emmc memory like the note 4s had.
some times completly letting the battery drain can fix it being "stuck". then recharge for 20 min or so then trying to turn on.
if u plug it into pc does it reconize anything in device manager
even unknown device or descriptor failed anythiing at all?
This morning the LED was off, so I tried to recharge it. Nothing happens. Also, the PC doesn't detect it at all. I think it's safe to assume I need a new phone. Too bad...at least if I was able to recover the data on this.

you can thank sammy for no ext sd card for that one or more than likely pics would be on sd
now one last sollution is to try buying a cheap battery my note 5 had a issue it shut of one day and wouldnt do nothing i understand ures was blinkik and trying at least
so its a leap but last resort
same problem here started over a week ago - samsung S6: black screen, constant white led. tried all variations of resetting with buttons. over a year ago i replaced the battery, and its been fine since. when this no boot issued happened i also tried changing the battery to a known good one. on inserting a battery and then pressing the power button the indicator led will go to green for less than a second before changing to constant white, and it stays that way no matter what until the battery is drained or the battery is removed. Strange thing is there is no information from samsung on what this behaviour means, but I've come across dozens of other S6 owners on the web with the same problem, so this is obviously diagnostic behaviour designed by samsung - but no info from samsung. the phone has never been damaged or watered or rooted so I'm at a loss.
Confirmed diagnostics:
The phone will respond to the power button and attempt to turn on
The phone will charge a battery, so the charging circuits and battery circuits are working.
The phone does not get picked up by a Windows 10 PC with Kies installed in any state - other samsung phones get picked up no problem.
Same here
I have the same symptoms. When I hild the vol up+home+pwr I get a green let for 1/2 sec then white. No other combinations do a thing. I swapped the battery for a new one. No luck.
Mine started a few days ago. The phone was 50% charge and i plugged it in for two hours. Came back and it had a solid red led. After a few hours the red light went off. It was then 100% unresponsive. I then took it apart and disconnected the battery. When I reconnected it, it started to do the white let thing described above

same problem here started over a week ago - samsung S6: black screen, constant white led. tried all variations of resetting with buttons. over a year ago i replaced the battery, and its been fine since. when this no boot issued happened i also tried changing the battery to a known good one. on inserting a battery and then pressing the power button the indicator led will go to green for less than a second before changing to constant white, and it stays that way no matter what until the battery is drained or the battery is removed.

I have one that behaves exactly the same I changed the battery and didn't make any difference. my next step is to replace power management chip. I'll let you know.
Any luck on this?
Mine has been like this for a couple months, kind of gave up on it, but decided to give it a go again!
Same problem here, just happend after switching the battery. Anyone have solved this?
I found a kinda solution, plug your charger in and charge past 30% then unplug charger. then use just vol down and power button for 7-10 seconds, after 7-10 seconds just release the power button while still holding vol down button until you see samsung logo, you can tell if you did it wrong by the solid led being back on, repeat until success, once you have it on do NOT press the power button or it will RESET back to solid led/black screen.
I have the same problem with my s6 active and similar story to dbeeheim. Has anyone fixed this? And can anyone confirm that enzo13's solution works?
Much thanks in advance!!
i have same problem!
Suddenly my S6 dead, battery was ~80%, no charge
yesterday i try to change battery, after that if push power button, LED small light comes but in white with purple, then stuck. (it's small Notifications LED)
and i chnge the screen, but no more than white/prople LED.
(no any thing on screen, always black..)
what is the problem?
i think it's battery because it last month didn't work good, and it's old 3years battery.. but no idea..
Hello guys my Samsung S6 sm-g920f has the solid white led and black screen. Really no fixes?
thank you
Same issue
I have the exact same issue. My Galaxy S6 Edge (G925F) suddenly died and won't get past the 'Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by Android' screen.
I am unable to reach the recovery options. I've tried flashing two different stock ROMs with Odin which succeed but without successfully turning on my phone. I've also tried flashing TWRP with success in Odin but it won't get past the 'Powered by Android' screen before turning off after +-4 seconds. The white LED is on even when the screen is black.
Just had this same issue, my battery died and I forgot to charge my phone overnight, woke up and it would not turn on, black screen. I did manage to replace the battery and do several diagnostic tests on it. My battery was receiving about half the power output it should be (this is normal it's a 4.5yo phone) and when I replaced the battery with a new one, it did not turn on. With wireless charging I can tell I am receiving a charge and with standard I can not. The screen does not indicate it is charging with either method but my wireless charging pad lights up indicating my phone is being charged. I think it may be the processor or screen itself. This really sucks because I lost all my data on my phone and data recovery can be over $500
