Galaxy J3 (2016) - ODIN failed due to "MDM mode. Can't download" - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, it's been a while! I have a Galaxy J3 (2016) that is in development to be used for purposes other than a phone, and has a custom Android 5.1.1 on it. I am trying to see if it is possible to either install the stock ROM or flash TWRP and a custom ROM but am running into some issues. I found TWRP for this model and when I tried to install it through ODIN, the operation failed after a few seconds and the phone displayed "MDM mode. Can't download". I tried factory resetting through the recovery and it said MDM mode didn't allow factory reset. I booted up the system and turned on developer mode, but everything in the developer mode menu is grayed out so I couldn't factory reset using that method either. Does anyone know how to go about removing this "MDM mode"? I did some research and didn't really find any solutions. Any help is appreciated!

Have the same problem

I am looking into using ADB sideload/fastboot methods instead since the bootloader is locked-out from the MDM. Does anyone know if there are any ADB/fastboot methods of enabling USB debugging manually through a stock recovery??

Help needed please!!

[Q] Galaxy Tab 10.1 Boot Loop! How do I fix it?

I have the 32 GB retail model of the galaxy tab 10.1 and it was working perfectly and I had no problems until I tried to boot it up today. It gets stuck between the Samsung animation and the Samsung logo. I'm not very great with fixing these kinds of things so could someone walk me through it?

what was the last update you did to your tab? any app or tweak?
I once had a similar problem but doing a wipe/factory reset from the recovery menu seemed to fix it for me and I've had no problems since.
Ok thanks, I just did a factory reset and now its back to normal.
How do you do a Factory Wipe and reset? I cannot get mine to take the ClockworkMod Recovery.... I have tried many times to install it and Odin says that it was successful but when I try to boot into the CWM... All I get is the USB fastboot or Odin again... any suggestions? I am trying to fix my Boot Loop issues on Galaxy Tab 10.1

If you have fastboot that means your tab is Google I/O tab. So i believe the method may be different to install CWM for you. Google it
Hi guys! Can you give me a tip? Since yesterday my tab got caught in a boot loop. Didn't made any changes, just went into it. I have rooted it a long time ago. I can't get into recovery mode by holding power+up. All I can get it the download mode that first says "waiting for usb cable" and if I connect it to the PC it goes to "press the [START] of Odin3". Do I need to try the fastboot method and reset it to factory details? I've being trying to do that but no devices were listed... Or do I need to reflash something with oding again? Please, just give me a tip.

Hey nightrave
I got caught in a bootloop the other day after updating to 3.2 from 3.1, my tab was rooted and running the starburst ROM. When I rebooted it it keeped getting stuck on the logo screen, and my device wasn't being recognized when I plugged it into my PC. I found a file online for the stock 3.1 firmware and flashed it using Odin and it got it out of the boot loop. If you can't go into CWM to flash a rom or do a recovery I would try using ODIN to flash the firmware your device was on. I ended up flashing the firmware for 3.2 the same way and the Galaxy Task 10 ROM. Let me know if that helps
app not working
i downloaded an app and it was working fine for a few days and now when i go use it i get an error msg and it kicks me out of the app. ive deleted and reinstalled app a few times but it still does it. what do i do?
Did u try goin on rom manager and clicking fix permissions.. its suppose to fix any force close issues, not sure if that would work.
I was able to fix my issue by installing a 3.2 rom. My tablet is not bricked anymore
Getting a com.android.phone error now but i'm trying to figure it out.

Galaxy Note 10.1 stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen

Dear all.
First of all, thanks for your attention, I really appreciate.
I have a GNote 10.1 Wi-Fi version (N8013) with stock Android 4.1.
My S-Pen was getting me crazy, because I was not able to use it correctly on the edges of the device. I tried an app that supposed to reset the alignment, but I did not work, so I googled and found that the only way to fix it was "factory reseting" the tablet.
So, I installed the TeamWin recovery and backed up my data. After that I hit the button "reboot". But before rebooting, the recovery screen "told me" that I was not rooted and "asked" if I would like to install SuperSU to get root access. I checked YES and rebooted.
After that I got stucked at the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen (see attached file).
I've tried to switch off the note, but the screen goes off for one second and it lights up again at the same screen.
If I plug the USB cable and try to switch it off, the note goes to the battery charging screen. If I remove the USB and push the power button again, the tablet gets back to the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen.
Odin seems to "connect" with the tablet.
I can enter both the download mode and the recovery mode (not the teamwin recovery).
Attached pictures of what I get.
Any sugestions?
Thanks!!!
Everything is ok now
Dear all,
Hope I can help you if you have a problem similar to mine.
I remembered that a PC with no OS stops on some screen, but everything else works, just as what was happening with my note.
I tought that I might have wiped more things than I should, so, the only thing I had to do was to restore the backup that I had.
To do this I should reinstall the TWRP and the only way was via Odin.
Solved the problem this way:
1. Downloaded the Odin (http://techbeasts.com/2013/08/08/download-odin-pc-latest-version-v-3-07/)
2. Downloaded the TWRP file (http://techerrata.com/get/twrp2/p4noterf/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-p4notewifi.tar)
3. Connected the Galaxy Note to my PC using the USB cable
4. Entered the "download mode"
5. Loaded the file from step 2 into the tablet using Odin
6. Rebooted the tablet
7. Entered the recovery mode (TWRP was working)
8. Restored the backup that I had
9. Rebooted again
Did the dance of victory!!!
I am so glad to have my device back.
Regards

@ agelcer: Was your tablet rooted?
Hello. I havea similar problem with my note 2 phone. It will not get past the
samsung screen. My cpu knowledge is very limited. Are you open to accepting payment for attempting to fix my cell phone? All I want is the pictures off of it if that is all you can do to it. Pleass email me at [email protected] if you or anyone you know can help. Thanks....Jay
Same thing is happening to mine. I tried Odin but after the download the srceen goes black and then comes back to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 screen.
Hello folks.
Same problem here with a n8000.
It had the stock unrooted rom probably JellyBean.
Can only access Download Mode, nothing else.
I get connection to Odin, tried to flash original firmware, 4 file firmware, re-partition with pit file, flash a custom recovery, all seem to pass through but nothing changes, still stuck on 'Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1' screen, never moves on to boot animation and still can't access Recovery Mode.
However, something else I triy with Odin and it FAILS is ticking 'Nand Erase All'. It won't let me erase nand.
Could this mean some kind of memory corruption?
Does it have anything to do with EMMC?
If it does, is there a possible way to fix without replacing the hardware?
What else can I try before giving up?
It would be nice if other users who report this problem attempt to Nand Erase All and see if it also FAILS..
Thanks alot and sorry for the long post.
Edit: after posting I found this which is PROBABLY THE SOLUTION for me.
And here is another topic on this issue.
did you find the solution?

I assumed from my searches the solution would be JTAG or replace the EMMC.
Since I don't have the resources for any of those, I just abandoned it to the dust and rust..

I'm not very clear about bootloader upgrading, but I guess it was included in the 4 file firmware I tried flashing and it said 'success' but nothing changed..
I think it ain't just a softbrick since I can't erase nand..
What's your background, osirisx69?
This happened to ours as well just today. Unplugged it rebooted it and it's stuck. Can only access the Odin mode.

[Q] Stuck at LOGO Screen, Reactivation Lock ON, can't flash ROM, failed to mount /sys

I tried to flash a rom using Odin but it failed. The phone now stuck at LOGO screen.
I entered download mode and noticed that the REACTIVATION LOCK is ON. I think it prevents Odin from flashing anything to the phone.
I tried to enter recovery mode, factory reset but still same. In recovery mode, there is a line saying "failed to mount /system".
I don't know what to do now. Please help.

Yes I tried to flash back to stock firmware but failed. I searched for solutions and it seems its because the reactivation lock is blocking odin from flashing anything to the phone.
Hello, did you try Smart Switch? I had a similar problem after rooting then stupidly activated Knox, but Reactivation Lock was OFF as once you root it seems like you can't enable it, my answer was Smart Switch which initialized everything

Hi. Yes I tried smart switch, it says it can not reognise the device. After I failed to flash the ron for tge first time I was able to boot the phone, knox ask me to restart the phone so I did restart it. I think it was when reactivation lock was triggered. after that the phone is not able to be booted. No idea how to disable the lock.

Do you have the latest odin? Read somewhere someone with the same issue and the problem was odin. He installed the newest one and everything was fine.
Good luck
I am in same situation. Yesterday I was able to reinstall original firmware. Trick is to get Odin to recognize com port. By connecting to USB first and then entering download mode it seems to work.

SM-G925I stuck in boot loop

I've been attempting to unroot my S6 Edge for the past day and probably took a wrong step which resulted in my phone not been able to boot. I currently have access to download mode and recovery mode with TWRP. I have tried to install the stock firmware downloaded from sammobile, but I have been running into errors. Most commonly, Compete(Write) operation failed. I have wiped the cache and done a factory reset and nothing has worked. So now I have run out of ideas with what to do to fix this problem. Please help.

Need help with twrp on Tab A 10.1 2016

Hi
I'm using the P858Y version of this device
And i simply can't get twrp working on it
What i've done:
- Enable OEM - USB debug
- Get to download mode
- Untick auto reboot on Odin
- Flash TWRP with Odin: So far, every version from 3.0 - 3.7 of the device on twrp website
Everytime i tries to boot to twrp, it just get black screen with backlight still lit, the twrp seem working cause i can swipe or touch the screen and it vibrate, but can't see anything
And i have to flash back to stock rom in order to get back to normal
- I've tried to use adb to control twrp with the back screen but the internal storage doesn't show up on my pc, simply can't flash anything with adb
Device on stock rom is normal, the screen, Touch screen is normal aswell
I don't know what i did wrong in the process
Any idea how i can get custom rom to work on this device
Don't know if anyone has experience this problem.
Every help i can get is appreciated

Hello friend! I'm a noob and can't help you (yet), but someday maybe I can help you.
for now I recommend looking for some twrp here that has been made for your model specifically (in this case the Tab A 10.1 2016)
if you've already done that and didn't find any related post, maybe we just have to wait for someone less noob to help us.
I also have a problem related to the SM T113NU tablet. I tried using Odin 3.13.1 and TWRP 3.0.2 but I was unsuccessful. Simply when I try to access the TWRP menu only the factory menu appears.
I wish you success and that you manage to resolve the issue.
