Bubble under the screen? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my hands on a S3(i9300), it is in a perfect condition but there is this bubble like thing right in the middle of the screen. Touch screen works fine but even the gentlest tap on the screen makes the bubble bigger. And if I pull the battery and push from behind it gets smaller or if I bend the phone in a certain way a little sometimes it diseappears completely. I believe the glass touches the panel or something.
And the other day while trying to clean the screen, I sprayed a bit more cleaner than usual and it got in and started to interfere with the touches and left kinda marks under the glass. Touchscreen is working fine again but it is really annoying me. Is there a way to get rid of this ? Any help would be appreciated.

This is as small as it gets, but as I said earlier slight pressure makes it bigger again.

Sounds like there is a crack in the glass which allowed the cleaner to seep in between the glass and lcd.
You'll have to have the glass removed, clean the lcd, and replaced with new glass.

I bought one of those suction cups and stuck it to the screen and pulled it, the glass came off a little bit from the left side and the bubble like thing disappeared now but it appears the glass is not very well glued. Some dust entered but it is better than having a huge black spot in the middle. Now I wanna get rid of the marks cleaner left under the glass.
Would it work if I removed the glass, clean it and the LCD and use the same glass again?

It might but you would still need a way to prevent dust from getting back in. I'm not sure about the s3 but the glass may need to be bonded to the LCD with uv glue to prevent this from happening again.

Echo Mirrored Screen Protector

Clove sells a universal cut-to-fit mirrored screen protector from Echo, for £6 gbp. As if our HD's weren't sexy enough already. I'm going to try one of these. I think I'll just stick the full sheet on, then trim it with an exacto knife. But I'm worried about trimming the small receiver speaker hole. Any suggestions?
with a scalpel?a pointed one...
why not use the original screen protector as a template?
although i would imagine you will need a sharp blade, a good eye and a steady hand to not make it look like a pile of poop
i would think these protectors are meant for those screens that are recessed rather than full frontal (oo eerrr) like the HD is

I bought one of these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mirror-Screen-P...h=item220335185106&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262
Fit is perfect (no camera hole), but the colours on screen are a bit weird and screen seems darker. Took it off after a week or so.

whats the screen like when backlit? is it clear? what about texture when scrolling and using stylus?
I had this installed on my HD 2 weeks back. looks nice and shiny, but thats all to it. (bought from ebay)
Drawbacks:
1. The mirror coating is not smooth all over, if u see the above pics, u will see distortion in image on the upper right corner.
2. Very Very bad under the SUN! i really have to cover it totally with my hand, or take it in under a shade to see the screen. (u win some, u lose some!) Good for a few days as a fancy, but then now i am going to remove it off and put a normal clear one again. Had it running all the time on Full brightness - load on battery too! Its good enough indoors with full brightness only, cant use the Auto Brightness control.
I have this on my wife's iphone too, which i got from Javoedge - very good quality that is, and no distortions, but it is a bit thick!

removable hard screen protector?

Back in the day I had a palm tungsten T. This came with a clear polcarbonate screen cover which could be clipped on the front of the device to protect the screen whilst in your pocket. Or could be clipped onto the back of the device for storage whilst in use.
This seems like such a great idea - I can't understand why it hasn't caught on.
The large screen of the touch HD seems particularly vulnerable and there are a great number of cases/skins on the market that provide virtually zero protection to the screen.
Has anyone come across this type of removable, hard screen cover for the touch hd?
Was the Tungsten a touch screen?
Seems like a hard cover wouldn't be possible with the touch screen.
Not that I want to blow anyone's bubble here, but been using the HD since it came out with no screen protector whatsoever and till now there's not a single hairline scratch on the screen. Using the pouch that came with it though and doing nothing special, not even cleaning the screen (hand and face grease) makes it a bit slippery and it actually protects better than having a shiny, "dry" and clean screen. That's my experience with it.
As for the question, every screen protector reduces the screen sensitivity by a bit. A thick or solid screen protector will reduce it considerably/completely since it will not allow the foils of the touchscreen to be connected and register input.
Yes, the tungsten T was touchscreen,
...and I'm not concerned about small scratches on the screen. I'm sure that the disposable thin plastic screen protectors are easily up to the job for that. Rather, I am worried (for example) that I might bang my leg on the corner of a table with the touch HD in my pocket. This could easilly smash the screen. Since I have signed up to a two year contract with this phone I want to give it the best possible chance of survivng that long.
You both seem to have missed the point a bit. The screen protector is removed when you are actually using the device. It can be unclipped and attached to the back of the device for temporary storage.
Since the screen protector is removed from the screen whilst in use there is absolutely no reduction in screen sensitivity.
However the tough polycarbonate cover means the screen is completely protected whilst the device is in your pocket.
The thing looked like this for the Tungsten T.. obviously the cover would have to be specifically molded to whichever device.

Anti-Glare Screen Protector Making The Screen Fuzzy?

Here's the problem after applying the protector:

How can I get rid of it? Cleaning it doesn't seem to do anything. Does this happen to all anti-glare screen protectors?
Anyone?

I think that's normal while using a matte type screen guard. I use one, and I have the same appearance.
matte screen protectors > +prevents the hand fats after usage ,+ gives a great screen feeling ,-it gives distortion as u posted
normal screen protector >> nothing just for protecting :silly:
Oh wow... I wasn't expecting that. I watched some reviews etc. to see how the screen looked in YouTube, as apparently it makes the image slightly distorted (which it doesn't) and those people didint have this issue. I thought it's like in some TVs or PC monitors. The image is matte, doesn't reflect as much light and doesn't have this fuzzy stuff.
Does anyone at least know what is causing the fuzziness? Is it something in the screen protector, like glue that was sticking the top and middle layer together, or is it the light reflecting? If it is the glue, then I could get some alcohol or cleaning substance and get rid of it hopefully.

its the material of the screen protector since its matte ,, it consists horizontal deviated lines which u cant remove and they are the cause of this distortion

Thanks to everyone who helped. I think I will get used to it. Having my screen matte is really beneficial ;D
I don't know if I'm getting used to it or it's going off, but it seems like the dots are becoming smaller and smaller...

Success story with Nillkin Tempered Glass screen protector *pics*

Hey guys
I dropped my phone the other day, and a wild crack appeared I figured I had shattered my screen. It did have a tempered glass screen protector on it though, so I had my hopes that the damage was minimal. I took off the screen protector today, here are the results:

The phone is 100% fine. Screen is flawless. The drop shattered the glass from the protector and not the screen itself. It was somewhat of a nasty drop too. Dropped right onto the metal legs of my desk chair :laugh:
Highly recommend Nillkin 9H hardness glass protector. I have one on the back too
nice. I have the Nillkin too since August. That shatter protection is the main reason why I use the protector. Great to see it actually works.
I almost lost hope of getting this device due to the self cracking issues, but thanks to this my hopes got high again.
Hehe yeah tempered glass is awesome, you should see the state of the tempered glass on my old Z after many concrete face plants , yet the glass underneath is mint not so much the bezels
The Z3 will be the first smartphone i use with a tempered glass screen protection.. I only heard about those from the xda forums, they're not popular at all in germany. However i really hope for a more glass-like feeling, less persistant fingerprints and so on.
Keep in mind that the tempered glass is like 0.3mm high and therefor more like to break by hits like the one you had. You can see that the crack started at the left side of the screen. Without tempered glass, the screen is flush with the bezel, so i think that your glass would have survived that, too.
Nice, but remember if its a corner impact you will be less lucky.

DIY Clear back cover

Hey, how many of these little guys stay up and working?
Today I've opened my carp (42 mm edition) to look at the ports, just to look at the possibility of connecting it via USB for modding, root, flashing ROMs, etc. (so bad there's almost no scene on this device series ) when suddenly a crazy idea just crossed my mind: Why don't try to expose the guts of this old, used (and abused) watch, like those expensive skeleton watches?
So I've inspected carefully the back glass cover and noticed that there was a gluey sticker between the glass and the device itself. After removing the sticker, the glass is exposed and ready for some abuse.
The sticker:

}
The next step was to find a way to remove the paint without damaging the glass itself, so I've taken a knife and tried, with success, to gently scratch the paint. TBH, I'm very surprised of the scratching resistance of that glass piece, because you can give it some serious abuse (like fast, hard scratching) without leaving marks on it, so if you try to do this mod you don't need to worry too much about damaging it, just don't apply too much strength and pressure to avoid deep scratches or breaking the glass (if you hold it on your hand or on top of a soft, non-hard surface).
After about 30-40 minutes of scratching paint, I've cleaned the glass with my breath and a cloth, applied some thin double-side tape (aka. smartphone tape, very useful when repairing stuff like that) to fix the glass on place and did the same for the outer plastic ring. Now, here's the result:
As you can see below, the text remains intact, I suppose that is printed deeper inside the glass or something:
Looks pretty nice if you like the look of the bare naked electronics. Aside from that, I feel sorry for that disturbing off-center white ring (I guess it has moved a bit when I've put the glass back on the watch) and that wire that separated from the charging coil when I oppened the watch. Maybe I'll fix it one day. Cheers.
EDIT: I've done a WatchMaker watchface matching the skeleton style of my back cover. Here's a picture, I've attached the .watch file for anyone to use it:
Very nice mod! Will be replacing the battery on my 42mm soon and will have to give this a go.
