Very suddenly, with no messing about with things (I haven't even made a backup since Christmas 2016), and no new apps, I completely lost reception (bars). I thought it was just Verizon's spotty reception at first, but later that night I realized that it was like my phone's cellular capability had been turned off.
And it won't power down. Forcing it manually to do so (power button plus volume rocker) is hit or miss.
The phone also gets very hot during the "powering down" cycle, during which it's completely locked up.
I was able to get into Philz Touch 6.0 recovery using an app I installed called "Quick Reboot Pro", and recovered to an earlier recovery, to no avail. Deleted dalvik and cache, but still nothing changed.
I have Xposed installed, with the power button module that offers an advanced menu for reboot, that includes recovery, but that doesn't work. Neither does the manual way of accessing recovery.
I swapped SIM cards with my other z3V, which has no issues. The "problem phone's" SIM is recognized by the other (working) phone, but not vice-versa. So the card is good.
Really kinda stumped. Close to a factory reset at this point.
Ideas?
SIM is recognized. MEID is null.

Yesterday I started having issues with my lapdock -- when connecting to the phone, the lapdock would just show the Moto logo and never go to phone view. Thinking it was a problem with the lapdock, I went to Sprint to try it with another Photon. As it turned out, the lapdock was fine and my phone wouldn't talk to the HD dock either. No new apps had been installed nor settings changed since they both had previously been connected.
After a backup with Titanium, I did a factory reset (didn't wipe personal data). The phone appears to talk with the lapdock again and I haven't tried the HD dock yet. I restored everything with Titanium.
The problem I have though is that the home and search buttons don't work and I'm missing things that were previously on my phone, like when holding the power button the only option there is power off -- no airplane mode and I can't remember the other one that was there.
I tried to initiate a NAND restore (as I saw with another thread), but using the power button+vol up, I can't get it to actually go past the initiating message. I'm charging the phone now since it was at 60% and will try again when it reaches 80%.
What am I missing here? Doing a factory reset should've taken me back to initial everything I thought--so why are things not like the original release?
Updating this in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. Did a second factory reset and wiped internal storage this time. Things might be back to normal...default lock screen is back, extra options on the power button are back and home and search buttons work again.
Just got an amazing deal on Razr. It does have a clean ESN, but unfortunately, I do not have Verizon as a carrier, but I was hoping to use this as an "mp3" player and such. Root it, have fun with it, etc.
Right now, when I power on, it comes to the "Emergency call" screen, and says "No Service" at the bottom. The previous owner did leave an old SIM in it. When the SIM is removed it goes to the same screen when powered on.
I have read around (yes, I did try finding help around the web before I came here and asked) that the activation screen can be skipped and it'll work without a SIM.
When I try to go into the recovery (Vol down + power) to hard reset, the physical volume buttons don't work to scroll to the options, nor does volume up work to select options. Just ends up resetting the phone after the timeout.
I have looked everywhere for a workaround or fix for this. Couldn't find much on the recovery part of it.
Stock ROM and unrooted (told by previous owner)
HELP?
Hi, I have a 2 week old handset which has now twice displayed a pretty strange/annoying bug.
I have been using no Stamina settings other than location based WiFi and queue background data for the most part to gauge battery life under my normal work schedule but I noticed last week that my saved WiFi at home wasn't on, so instinctively I tried to click the WiFi symbol but to no avail.
I then tried to restart the phone, but when pressing the power off option, it simply booted me back on to the screen I was on before hand. This continually happened until I got pee'd off and repaired it.
Again today I ran into the exact same problem. No WiFi and I could not power off. After several attempts at powering off I managed to get it to boot into safe mode where I started uninstalling apps to rule out any rogue apps. I still couldn't reboot forcing me to repair and wipe the phone.
I keep telling myself that this is merely a software bug and I can't seem to find other posts where people are suffering similar problems.
So I futilely ask, has anyone ever had anything similar happen to theirs?.
Yeah I think this is a software bug too, a similar thing has happened to me a couple of times with the wifi becoming "stuck" and rebooting the phone fixed it but if you're having trouble shutting down your phone, have you got quickboot enabled? Regardless of that though, you do have two options to force a restart, either hold volume up and power, this will force shutdown or press the small red button next to the sim card tray.

I am pretty sure it is the quick boot option now. Stupid bug.
Phew...don't have to return it now.
I think sony have disabled the quick boot functionality for some reason, I ticked it thinking it might be almost like a reboot instead of power off & then power on, later I noticed the power off menu wasn't doing anything when tapping it, was almost about to do a reset but then remembered I ticked the quick boot option.
Hope they enable it in future updates.
Just encountered a little problem today. From the beginning: My Note 3 was rooted/TWRP'd running Vision X 3.0. Gave my wife my new G3 and took the Note 3 back. When I wiped her data in TWRP and restored a backup (same ROM) the 4GLTE icon started flashing on and off. I wiped complete again, installed a new ROM and did the same. Then I Odin'd to the new update. Same issue. I did encounter an issue with switching the phones earlier in the day. I had to get Sprint to do it via chat due to the Note 3 not being deactivated/reactivated correctly when I tried through the site. So I am guessing it could be a bad SIM card or they muffed something during activation. It will at times stop flashing and give me full LTE, but if I reboot or shut the phone off/back on it starts flashing again and the phone gets warm. It will sometimes stop/start if I mess with Connections Optimizer too, either checking or unchecking. Appears to be trying to connect to LTE but something is preventing it from locking on. I would appreciate it if anyone that has run into this before can give me some ideas. I do have a service center in town, and will go in the AM if I cannot find a solution anywhere else. I have never encountered this before.
Also in settings for data, Mobile State flashed between Connected/Disconnected and Mobile Network Type flashes between LTE/Unknown along with the LTE icon in status bar.
Tried killing data and all that. Airplane mode etc.. Sprint service center says it may happen when updating and will calm down in a couple of days..I don't think it was the update since I didn't update until after it started.
Also failed to mention when I switch to CDMA only in Data settings it will stay on 3G and doesn't flash. Has to be an LTE issue. And it is not the towers in the area because the G3 is fine.
Since it's broke anyway, going to Odin NC5 and see what happens. Tried freezing Connections Optimizer and flashing a new Kernel but didn't work either.
EDIT: Nope. That didn't work either. Ugh
Apparently it was a Sprint issue. Had to let it ride for a day or so and now back to normal. LTE is good again. Was an issue on their end when something went wrong during the phone swap.
Had this same problem with my Galaxy Grand Prime and rebooted in safe mode and it stopped. Safe mode disables all 3rd party apps. It is a 3rd party app causing the problem. I had to turn phone off, turn back on and hold volume down button after seeing Samsung logo popup, then wait for the safe mode to appear in lower left corner and release the button. Flashing stopped after that. Turned safe mode off and its still good so far. Hope this helps someone!!
So, my Samsung Galaxy A10 got into a bootloop and I'm 90% sure it was caused by short storage, because seconds before it started I saw the storage was full. I've had a similar problem before, where my phone would randomly reboot and stop when I clean up some space, but now it just locks itself on a bootloop and freezes on the Samsung logo.
I tried entering Safe Mode, but my phone just won't load it no matter how many times and how many buttons i press. Alright, "let's try Recovery Mode", i thought, but it was also very hard to do because the buttons wouldn't work most of the time. I managed to enter it around 4 times in a span of 3 hours and I got two different screens. One screen was what I believe to be the standart, with options to clear cache, factory reset and etc. The other one only had the option to clear app data, no idea why it changed or what triggered it. In these few instances where i could access the Recovery Mode, I tried clearing cache, repairing apps and clearing app data, but nothing worked.
I can't turn off my phone either, I tried holding the power button for almost a minute with no results. Maybe that's why the recovery mode didn't work...? Right now I'm waiting for my phone to run out of battery and see if it helps.
Also, one thing that is kinda concerning... everytime it reboots, before the Android logo appears, the screen glitches for a millisecond in a vibrant color.
Please, is there any way to fix it without losing my data? I'm sort of a noob so I have no idea how bootloaders and similar things work, I'd be really thankful if you guys could help

Meh... why isn't your data on a SD card?
If you used a SD card as a data drive... you be able to do a factory reset and not lose critical data.
If you can't connect with the PC and you can't get into safe mode I don't see how you can recover the data. Maybe someone here has a plan for you...

Thanks! Yeah, no SD card for me
Draining the power didn't help, but I figured out why the buttons didn't work: I was supposed to press them when my screen started glitching, not on the android logo (leaving this info here in case someone else has the same problem). Still unable to access safe mode tho, only recovery.
Welp, most of my data was only personal things and at least I can backup some stuff with my google account, so I did a factory reset. Now it's working again, which is great, I just wanted my phone back honestly :,)

Boot loops are tough. Sometimes after a couple tries it may go into safe mode but don't count on it. Another question is what caused it, a poorly coded or incompatible 3rd party app running at start up? You don't want a repeat. It may have been a single event upset that corrupted the user data partition, these are rare but can happen.
Get a SD card and use it as a data drive, everything you need to do a complete reload should be on it including installable copies of all your apps. A full reload with no internet connection can be done like this. Since all the data is already on it for a reload, no time is wasted reloading data.
The SD card is a valuable asset if you use it correctly.
