First time poster, long time lurker...
As far as I can find, I have not seen this issue come up for anyone else. I recently jumped in with the temp root to clean up the bloat and to de-sense. Process went great and everything that I attempted to freeze is froze.
To my dismay, the last two days (since I performed the clean up) my battery life has taken a severe turn for the worse. With screen off I'm losing about 10% an hour, which is way more than before. I used to easily get a day at the office, but now a morning is a lot to ask.
I've checked the usual suspects, and have gone as far as uninstalling any new apps that I've installed since the root. All to no improvement.
I suppose my next step is to re-bloat to see if that brings me back to where I was. But before I go that far, has anyone seen or heard of this problem? If I'm the only one, I suspect my cause and effect is off. I fully expected this to help the ol' battery... But its been the opposite.
I have the exact same problem, I am going to factory reset mine as soon as I have time to set everything up again.
My battery life has literally dropped in half.

Bummer, exactly what I was trying to avoid. Oh well, that's the risk we take I guess.
With all the memory and speed this phone has there is no reason to freeze anything. I can live with bloatware until I get s-off.
When you go freezing apps you alter the way the phone operates. You could have frozen something that the system needed to operate using less
Power. Now your phone works harder and uses a lot more power. This phone is faster and smoother than any rooted phone I ever owned.

True statement. One of the reasons I have not updated my temp root script to include de-sensing is because every time I try it it runs like crap. Seems like it just struggles looking for things the framework expects to be there.
Ah, the voice of reason! You are right, I was tottaly content until I started f'n around with the insides. Ill unfreeze it all tonight and keep my fingers crossed that I don't end up needing to reset.

Agreed... This phone is a beast with an OEM extended battery. I used %40 in 14 hours with my standard usage, which includes about 30 mins worth of calls, receiving emails and texting.

+1, i'm very satisfied with the stock battery on daily use.
When I travel, I throw in the extended battery and I'm watching an entire season of Arrested Development, no problem :x
I haven't desensed, and I only froze some of the bloatware, like the friendstream, nfl mobile...etc. that were in the app's folder, just to keep it clean, but I've learned I just crowd it up again as soon as I start downloading apps No task killers either, just use the one that shipped with it to kill some lingering apps now and then.

I was actually using your tool... appreciate your work on that, it's flawless as far as I can tell. Was going to thank you over on the development board but being an XDA noob I was not allowed!
I thawed everything out and will see tomorrow if I'm back to where I should be. If so, I may give your recommended list a try and see what that brings. I was really liking not having to see all that crapware everywhere I turned.
That is the reason I didn't use the de-sense option. I only froze some of the bloat that i really didn't use. I was afraid that if I de-sensed, it would cause more problems than it fixed.
I started a thread where I gave a long list of freezeable apps, it's linked in one of the stickies in the dev section, and I have left them all frozen. Something like 30 apps frozen. I have NOT de sensed though. I lose 1-2% an hour while idle, though the first 10% from 100 to 90 lasts much longer (complete opposite of my old Dinc which would drop the first 10% in ten mins!)
Well, I bit the bullet and factory reset tonight. We'll see how my battery fares tomorrow.
I had ADWLauncher installed before with a theme and custom icons etc. I left all that out this time.
I do like Sense quite a bit (I love the widgets) so I'm sticking with that for now.
I have two extended batteries I bought with the phone and originally my battery life was outstanding. I could stream audio all day at work (switching between iheart and Sirius) and still have battery life on my way home.
This is outstanding, no other phone I have owned could do that. Lately, my battery life is in the toilet however. I killed an extended battery in a half a day.

definitley looking forward to hearing about the results to the factory reset. i haven't had great battery life but i've also temp root and cleaned pretty soon after getting the phone, so i don't have too much to compare to.

Let us know how it goes, I'll do the same. I used my freeze script to thaw it all out... hopefully I can leave this thing on my desk for a couple hours tomorrow so I can get some good data on idle usage. Fingers crossed it goes back to the way it was.
I have actually been using Go since day one. I never really tried sense, but it drives me nuts not having a dock bar... I think we can all admit the bar at the bottom is a waste of space. Anyway, I played with it a little tonight and it seems super smooth with good looking widgets (as you mentioned). I may have to get it all set up sometime and see if I can get over my dock bar hang-up.
I had the same battery problem as you and I have yet to even temp root my phone(I run Windows 8 Dev Preview, drivers are unsupported). I don't even play games on my phone and had the same issue. It isn't a root/bloat/de-sense issue.
AtL, that battery chart looks painful. Read the issues list if you haven't already... Some folks have reported battery life like that and ended up trading in and getting one that behaved a little better.
As for my issue, after half a day it looks like thawing everything out was the ticket. This chart vs the one in the OP clearly shows a much slower idle draw. I think I'm back to only charging once a day.
So let that be a lesson to everyone... Be careful of what you think you don't want.
The factory reset seems to have helped some, but it's still not back to where it used too be. I have been streaming iheart all day on 4g using an extended battery. I got probably 6 hours out of the 1st battery & I'm down to 80% on the 2nd battery now.
I think the 4g network may be partly to blame in that I think my higher battery useage started almost exactly when the national 4g outage occured.

I have been here a while bud. I was just posting to show that I had the same issue while NOT using Temp Root or anything you had used in your experience of the problem. This has only happened to me 1 time.
Debloated with no issues
If you know what your doing and have exp with this debloating / desensing will have only positives on your battery. Im pretty sure that horrid battery life had nothing to do with debloating. And as the OP stated it only proved mild imrpovements aftyer hard reset. Unlikely debloat caused that.
Took phone off charger this AM
would explain why when I had the rezound, the battery life started out great, then get beyond terrible.
I am looking to get one of 5000-5400 extended batteries(doesn't matter if it is 5000, 5200, or 5400). I was wonder if there are any that are good quality that doesn't have the battery cover that looks like a hump back. I saw a lot on amazon with a nice smooth battery door but they said not for the i717. Anybody recommend one other than the Mugen?
i have that mysterious gold battery. it is o..m.g. too good for what i paid for it. my original battery is long gone and it basically closed the curtains on my anker 2700ma. i had it for about 3-4 months now and still to this day loving every min of it. im honestly a gadget nut and im always playing with my phone so for this thing to last me from when i wake up in the morning (5:25am) til the end of my work day (5:00pm) i finally found a battery that will go the duration without charging. thats internet, music, youtube, nova 3, ect. i normally put it on the charger around 9-11pm. at that point it is down to about 15%. i bought it because a female on this site started a thread about it and alot of people were iffy about it. only a few of us bought it, and im pretty sure all are satisfied as she proved extremely right to the discreditors lol.

Where did you get your battery from?
Where did you buy it?
This was a tough decision for me, but today I bit the bullet and got the Maxx hd. I am posting this in the DNA forum because that is the phone I wanted. I truly wanted that phone.
DNA pros, and why I wanted the phone:
Fastest, most efficient processor available.
Best screen available.
I like sense and the dialer it comes with.
Solid cell signal in weak areas (this fact eliminated Samsung for me, but neutral with Motorola)
Reviews say great build quality.
5 inch screen
I prefer the physical buttons rather than on screen
Great camera
$100 less
I like the stock music app
Why I didn't want the Maxx hd:
Old specs
I don't like pentile screens, my eyes notice the little dots
Terrible reviews on the camera
Not a fan of blur
Not updated to 4.1, doubt it will come before the year like they promise
Why I bought the maxx hd:
I travel a lot and am a heavy user, especially when traveling. I figured I would be cussing the battery way more than cussing the screen and camera.
I want an sd slot, or more than 11gb of free space.
I really like the notification light. I frequently work in a conference room with other people and hated the tbolt light, couldn't see it while sitting on my desk. DNA is in the grill too, tho I hear it is easier to see. The one on the back is a waste to me.
Those are my thoughts. Both great phones, tho I am truly bummed. If there was an sd slot and 2500 battery rather than 2020, I would have the DNA tomorrow. If I didn't travel like I do, I probably would have gotten the DNA because the wireless charging would negate the small battery.
I understand that some people need more battery life than the DNA gives, but when flying aren't you able to plug your phone in? (it's been ~10 years since I've flown) If you had to in between flights that would be horrible but I personally wouldn't care much during... well, maybe if I wanted to use the phone landscape since the plug is on the bottom. If you're traveling by car, you can plug it in pretty easily as well. Just my .02. You have a good 2 weeks to decide and there's a lot of cons for the Maxx HD for you.

Ya I fly every week, And I am often not by a charger. I could have bought a battery pack and thought about going that route. Like I said, for me, the battery was highest priority and once a week I would be cussing the DNA.

Some overseas flights do. When I went to Dubai earlier this year, I had a plug in, tho there was also a tv for every seat and no internet so no need to use the phone. Lol

Honestly how do you manage to go through a whole battery in a trip.
Assuming you for some reason you only travel with no other electronics except for a phone and refuse to plug it in during the trip, how can you possibly use more than this.
Get to the airport with 100% battery
Use it for maybe a half hour, so you may be at 85% now if you were playing some games for that time
Get on the plane and put it on airplane mode, you may be at 70% by the end of the flight if it was long and you were playing some more games
You have a layover so you eat some lunch, check up on some emails, surf the web for a bit and call your wife and chat for a bit, so your at 60% now
Next flight comes around, put it back in airplane mode, by the end of it your at 45 if you played some more games.
Now your at your destination, but your a half an hour from your hotel but your company loves you and pays for a driver, you play even more games, your now at 25% battery.
Now your at your hotel, you can plug your phone in and watch some TV and never got a battery warning.

why not spend $50 on a really good battery pack rather than an extra $100 for a bit more battery in the phone? I personally carry a small 5600 mAh external battery that cost me $35 as to render battery life a non-issue

I never understood the travel argument. First all airports have charging ports. 2nd, if you travel that much...why are you using a phone at all? Get a Nexus 7 or dare I say an iPad. Way better battery life and experience for when you fly. No need to use your phone anyway.
However I'm glad you're happy with your choice. Moto is a complete non starter for me these days with Ft Knox bootloaders and I refuse to to be at their mercy for updates.

The Razr Maxx HD is only $200 on Amazon - $180 with a new plan. The price of the phone dropped substantially the day after its release. I'd also personally find the battery charger annoying to carry around and plug in and would rather buy a phone with the battery life I need.

2 other reasons I forgot to mention in my original post is foxfi works in the maxx and voice / data work on 3g. I am often in 3g only areas and talk on the phone while tethered.
My post as in no way bashing the battery life on the DNA. I read pretty much every review it there and the 25 page thread on the DNA on this site. My tbolt got me 4-6 hours of in screen time, I know the maxx is more like 5-7 hours on screen time and the DNA is closer to 3. I am impressed reading about what they have done to increase battery life, it looks like they accomplished a lot since the tbolt and rezound days. And if my wife were looking for a phone, that's the phone I would get her today. And I think the battery works for probably 95% of the users it there. If I have a friend looking for a phone, that's the one I'll recommend.
Just not for me.
I tend to rely on one of those ZaggSparq portable chargers to give the little more unmpf I need to finish the flight or day with my TBolt and expect the same with the DNA.
I find it interesting when there's a battery life discussion there's always someone saying "all you need to do is A, B, and C and you should get through your day".
I work construction and there's constant battles over there never being enough outlets, besides do you want your $600+ phone sitting there with 40-50 strangers walking past it? I went almost a year carrying a 5000mah battery pack for my RAZR and it's a royal PITA pulling that whole mess out of your pocket every time you get a call, message or just want to skip a song on Pandora. TuneIn radio can kill a 1700 battery by 1 pm.
You have no idea how liberating it is to not have to jump through hoops trying to do everything you can to save battery life. Turning on/off lte, gps, wifi, and airplane mode when it's needed, brightness to minimum, trying to plug in for a minute here and there to get that precious charge.
Anyone that tells others to jump through all those hoops obviously lives and works next to power outlets 24/7 or their life is so dull that they look forward to babysitting their settings like having another child.
A big freaking battery just works. No merry go round swapping of settings or constantly eyeing the battery meter. Put your settings where you want, leave lte on, then just unplug it when you get up then plug it in when you go to bed.
Do i wish i had the guts of the DNA? Of course. Would i give up the huge battery and 48gb of storage for it? Not even if it was free. I will never be chained to an outlet again.

I again agree with all this. I have a rezound and don't babysit my settings unless I'm outdoors and knowing I'm not going to be using it, I'll swap it to 3g only. I use the extended battery and have 7 of them in the house between the wife and I to use (thunderbolt for her, uses same extended). I don't need the battery life, but it is nice to have.
No phone is perfect right now (not even the iphone and its small screen). All of them comprimise something. If there was a perfect phone, it would be a no brainer on what to get, but everyone will have to choose what is best for them. For me, I think I'm going to try a note 2 first, see if the reception issues are a problem for me (live in a big city so hoping not). If it doesn't work for me, then the DNA will be plan B. I survived with the HD7 which was worse for battery life and still only 16gb so I know I can do it.

While your point is valid, it's also a special use case. Everyone is different and you can't expect everyone to have your lifestyle. I'm not defending OEM choices, but the vast majority of people don't have that kind of situation and you can't expect them to invest extra money into things the majority of people don't need. The beauty of Android is choice. If you found a phone that suits your needs, great. I'm not sure why you feel the need to come here and hate on people giving options to help make their lives easier in different situations. I have spent a great deal of time in my career working in stats and analytics, and some of the most rewarding pieces are showing people who so staunchly "can't believe" this or that exactly how big and different the world is outside their backyard.
I would by a battery pack and wifi drive before I get the Maxx HD. The screen and the S4 Pro processor is reason enough.

Are you a member of the Admiral's club or something? I travel a lot and there is a fight to get to an open outlet - often you'll find one on the floor by the window where no seats are. I've been to a couple of airports that have some outlets but for the most part there is about 1 outlet per 100 passengers.

Well said. For many of us, we just want a phone that works reliably for a 24 hour period with normal use. We don't have to buy a thicker battery for it, buy a spare battery for it, buy a car battery and strap it under our shoulder, walk within the radius of an extension cord or only turn our phone on when we have to actually use it or scheduled an incoming call.

Many sources have cited that the DNA gets about 4.5 hours of screen on time. Not 3.
Also, how the hell did you get 4-6 hours of screen on time with the Thunderbolt? That has the worst battery/power management I've had of any phone.

And from what I understand is the 4.5 hours was unplugging it and 4.5 hours straight. That doesn't translate to unplugging at 6:30 am, screen on for 4.5 hours, then be at 10% at 10:00 at night.
My first day today with the Maxx, I unplugged at 3:00 am, talked on the phone for an hour, and had 5.5 hours on screen time by 9:00 pm when I plugged it in. I was on it playing with settings a lot and reading while I was fixing a computer with its 20 reboots. I am guessing the DNA would have been dead at 3:00 pm. Lol
I have a Rezound I got in June of 2012, I am unlocked and running CM10.1 and the phone has never run smoother, but the battery is killing me. Back in December my battery just outright died and Verizon gave me a new one. The problem is that even though this battery is only five months old I only get half a day off a full charge. This morning I played a game for ten minutes or so and surfed Reddit for a few, in total less than thirty minutes of use and I was already down to 85% on my battery. Does anyone else have problems like this, is there an actual fix, am I doing something wrong? Someone help please.
i use the pc to charge the battery its charge it at 500mah max
the battery life is better then normal charging
i use for browser uc with lower brightness and low image

Try another battery, undervolt your phone, reduce your brightness, etc.. Can you take a screen shot of Settings, Power, Battery Use to see what's using most of your power? I'd suspect the screen is since it's a power hog.
Screen is a *****!

I will start manually controlling my screen brightness, and what do you mean by "undervolt your phone"? Attached is a SS of m battery usage.
Make a screen shot after clicking on Screen item on you your screen shot. That way we can see how much usage of screen time you get. Usually I don't get more then 2 hours of screen time.

If you got about thirty minutes of screen on time with only 15 percent drop in battery, then that is pretty good for this phone. Sorry to inform you, but it isn't going to get any better with this phone. Battery life is, and always will be, the worst aspect of the Rezound.

Yeah that is a bit of an odd one to me as most reviews said battery life is about the same as the Galaxy Nexus, and most people I know with that phone are content with the battery life.

I assume you're talking about the stock battery and not the extended. With the extended I usually get about 5 1/2 hours screen on, but that with maybe 5% left.

Screenshot or it didn't happen. Seriously though get an extended.
where would you all recommend coming across an extended battery? ebay etc? Also, I got an extended battery a little while ago, granted it wasn't HTC oem or anything, but the back cover that came with it did not appear to really give me any signal anymore, as if the contacts for the antenna were not touching in order to allow for the signal to be amplified.
I have this: 2750mAh Battery For HTC Rezound, ThunderBolt 2 Extended with Black back cover from UK-Expert (can't post links yet)
I know I know...probably not the greatest thing to trust...didn't think much about it at the time =P Should I just go for buying htc oem off ebay? or what do you all suggest to get the extended battery & the cover so that it actually works this time =P

As you know our antenna is part of the battery cover. I have read quite a few posts where people buy an offbrand extended battery and their signal ends up bad because of the new battery cover. So because of that personally I would buy your first extended from Verizon. You have to be careful buying "oem" batteries off of Amazon and EBay because they make claims that they are oem when they are just lookalikes. I can suggest a case too that won't add any thickness to the back. I got that case and extended and love it.

Looks like they are out of stock on the case but you may find it somewhere else. GL

ok will do. that case is out of stock but i'll check around I'll be careful looking for them since Verizon doesn't want anything to do with the Rezound accessories much anymore...or at least I had no luck finding anything. I'll see what I can gather up on ebay/amazon hopefully I get lucky thanks.
Hello Group,
At what battery drainage amount to you connect your LGV30 to a charger?? I got mine last weekend and to me the charge is decent but not great for being new at least to what I have been used to.
I use the charge cable that came in the LGV30 box and I also use my daughters wireless charger that she got for her Samsung Galaxy 8 since she doesn't use it and they both work great.
I generally charge it when it gets around 50-60% I dont know why but I cant stand my phone to ever get low even though certainly it will at times
Thanks, Jake

Are you talking about the speed of charge? For me the battery is so good I don't even look at it. At the end of the day, I put it on my slow wireless charger, and take it off in the morning when I go to work. Can't remember the last time I used the wired charger that came with the phone, but I thought it was super fast.
I normally plug in around 3%. Even though I know that's a bit low.
Here's todays battery usage.
I've been leaving high accuracy GPS on which is why my battery drains so quickly...
But I used my phone to stream music all night at work with GPM.

Hey Group,
Good news, well I took my phone back to AT&T (they suck) and trying to explain that there is something wrong with the battery on a 1 week old new phone with one of the mindless helpers there is like trying to pick the correct 6 numbers on a lottery ticket.
I could tell pretty much as soon I I had brought it home (the bad one) but I decide to wait a week and give it time to see it get better even did the Oreo update. So anyway the young lady tells me that its me and I must have to many apps working in the background, I tell her, thanks but I dont have anymore then I always run and I basically use it for social media and some web surfing and I rarely do any games on it as I am a hard core computer gamer.
She again tells me that OH! you must have to many apps running in the background, I'm like (sigh) so I explained what I had just typed and so we go back and forth and she did not stop telling me about the apps in the background. I was going to get the Galaxy s9+ because I didnt want to deal with these jokers anymore but I decided to stick with my LGV30.
So now she tells me that the manager says I can just swap it out for another one if it passes their battery diagnostic test first, I said WHAT? so again I tell her from last night until this morning (about 5 hrs) when not being used it dropped almost 30% charge.
and of course it failed their "State of the Art" diagnostic test so I had to fork over another $45.oo to complete the deal but these phone is doing great.....theres more but this is the short version! btw, ATT&T is the DEVIL

Actually it's Verizon, but postpaid AT&T is close second.
I try to never fully charge or discharge. High of 80-90% ... low of 20% or so ....
Best battery life I've had so far on a phone.
