Our Redmi note 3 supports fast charging from hardware perspective, it's just that Xiaomi has decided to not include it in the device to cut cost. Is there any way the developers of this device can enable fast charging by some tweaks. <Request>

Uhmm some custom kernels enabled fast charging, like Franko kernel(Nougat only). You can probably find one for Marshmallow if you searched the Development thread(Snapdragon, don't know anything about mediatek)

I'm on nitrogen OS Nougat. Is that kernel compatible with it.?

Yes, although you won't be able to use the default cpu settings of Franco kernel because NOS likes to set its own. You can disable it though by editing some stuff.

I think nitrogen stock kernel have the option to enable fast charging, check with kernel adiutor or ex kernel manager. For nougat you can use franco kernel, radon, agni kernel, elementalx kernel, for marshmallow radon or agni..
I'm using LOS 14.1 (latest build) on my RN3 2GB.
I was thinking to flash a kernel but now confused with the variety of kernels present. So which one is better for Nougat: Franco, Radon or Agni ?
Stock LineageOS make 84k in Antutu, franco 74k...i stopped trying here and back to stock. No problem with it, fast and reliable.
Benchmarks mean NOTHING. Come on ... When will people realize it. Franco works great, if you want d2tw then radon. I'm on radon for several months and never had a problem and I have reliable d2tw.
I am using Elementalx, so far so good :good:

Use Agni kernel!
Agni for better battery backup.
I want a flash and forget kernel. With agni there is an app involved and imdont know how to manage those settings
Franco....

You can try radon too.
as of now. .for games (Shadow / Radon / Stock)
with Agni i'm facing game freeze (on Honkai Impact 3. .when render a lot effect)
** i still use NOS-N
SyncedPlus Kernel
Features:
Cpu overclock and underclock (min: 268Mhz, max: 2.7Ghz)
Different frequency table
Voltage table (undervolted by default)
New cpu governors: electroactive, syncedplus(based on conservative, main feature is its responsiveness, set as default)
New hotplugs: cpuquiet, alucard(default with modified parameters)
Mpdecision hotplug is depracated
Gpu overclock and underclock (min: 27Mhz, max: 657Mhz)
New gpu governors: ondemand, conservative (default)
Simple GPU Algorithm
Adreno Idler
I/O Schedulers: tripndroid, fiops, vr, sio, zen(default)...
Powersuspend
Tcp Congestion Algorithms (westwood is default)
Zram disabled by default since this device has plenty of ram
Other fixes and tweaks
There have been many changes since first times I compiled and tested this kernel, so I can say its pretty stable, I didnt have any issue.
Note: For everyone who has reboot problems, adjust voltage by +10mV or more.
Instructions:
Option
For Carbon users:
Code:
fastboot flash boot syncedplus-carbon.img
For Omni users:
Code:
fastboot flash boot syncedplus-omni.img
Option
This is the easy way.
Flash it with twrp, there is option to flash .img files. Flash it in boot partition.
Downloads:
Carbon kernel
Omni kernel
For rooting method I suggest using Magisk, and for kernel editor Kernel Adiutor(can see cpuquiet, dont know for other tools).
These are stable kernel versions, so if any of you find some issues feel free to write me.

Great kernel! I didn't notice any issues with carbon on android 8.
By the way I find your settings a little bit laggy why you don't switch to sio sequlder and interactive cpu governor? I find them more responsive and battery friendly
Regards John
This kernel working on original 6.0.1 Android, like Advanved Stock Kernel?
If no, its possible to do this kernel. Nice stats

Thanks.
If you find better settings share them, you can here or in private message so I and others can test.
I used benchmarks as a performance test, and performance is better with current settings in comparison with interactive.

You already have custom kernel (elitekernel) for stock android with almost all of features of my custom kernel.
I suppose this kernel will work on xperia z2 too? Since the hardware is almost exactly same... Or something else?

Did you try flashing one of these versions ?
The only difference between this kernel versions is wifi location and maybe encryption(I forgot if there is big difference, as far as I remember there were problems when using the same boot.img for both roms), so if you flash omni kernel version on carbon rom, your wifi will not work and probably encryption. Try and see if it works, if not, just send me boot.img of resurection remix rom and I will fix it.
Z3c port pleaseeeee

I am sorry for late reply.
Did you by mistake write that you flashed Carbon V because this kernel wont work on that version, it will work just on OREO.
Also you can expect these days z3c kernel port, and kernel for z3 pie.

I know it's for Oreo and that img file I linked is rr oreo's boot.img. I meant carbon version by writing carbon v(not 5,etc). Really waiting to see the combination of your kernel and rr, cause i think the serious flaw with rr is its kernel. Btw, seems you're doing it faster than rom developers bro, I haven't seen any stable pie rom for z3 yet:fingers-crossed::good:

There is but not fully functional, I will just port kernel to it, and all is left to do is fix bugs in rom.
I have posted test version on discord https://discord.gg/krRBhje
Have tested it on Z2. It just makes the screen black. Until I restore my stock kernel.
Any possibility to port it to Z2 ?

So, there are some custom kernels available for the Poco and I just want to ask the community which of them are you using and why?
Franco kernel.. ever since its 1st release up.to thw latest r17 release.. simply smooth.. fluid for gaming..no hangs or lags or hiccups what so ever.. even though it doesnt give you a high antutu score. Only about 275-280k.. this kernel is stable. And battery friendly without hogging too much battery
Derp Kernel, simply, clean, great battery life and overall feels really smooth I can tell.
I'm coming from FrancoKernel too, and I was getting worse battery life, besides, when I flashed Derp Kernel I felt the device smoother than before with FK, maybe this is a placebo effect, maybe, everyone should give it a try.
Derp or sphinx???
Shadow is good but most of the kernels for poco are

I actually don't flashed any kernel but With my current daily driver Nitrogen OS I got NitroKernel + which gives me actually better battery than Stock kernel when using thermal mode in Nitrogen os settings that help me greatly. I will say try this nitrogen rom with its own kernel and I'll say you'll never need to look for any othe kernel.

+1 for Nitrogen and Nitro Kernel. Stable rom, great kernel. I used sphinx before, also stable and great battery life. But after last update, I'm too lazy to flash another kernel.
