Fast charging stopped working, What would cause this? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I own a galaxy s6 edge plus that wont fast charge but will slow charge for some reason, My question is what internal part would cause fast charging to not work and could i fix it myself taking the phone apart? On my device data transfer also doesnt work, indicating a possible issue with the path between the USB port and the main logic board. I also wanna know could my phone in theory charge faster on a wireless fast charger if it is unable to fast charge via USB?

[Q] Is USB charging good for battery?

Hi all,
This is my first post here so please excuse me if I break any rule.
I have recently installed Cleanrom on my SGT 10.1 Wifi only. It runs really smooth but now whenever I connect my tab to my computer, it automatically charges the battery. I don't like that because I like to do a full re-charge when battery level is very low.
When I connect to my comp, I just want to transfer files, not re-charge because I figure too many re-charge cycles is not good for the battery. I could be totally wrong though.
So the questions are : is USB charging good for the battery? Can I somehow stop USB charging?
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi, just want to share my experience for your first question...
Many forums on the internet say that USB charging is fine for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and some users even recommend it because it charges slower than charging through the wall adapter.
However, I've found that while I charge via USB, my tab gets noticeably hotter than via the wall adapter. The part that gets hot is just to the left of the front facing camera when looking at the tab upright in landscape. It doesn't get crazy hot or anything, but it's definitely hotter than via wall adapter.
I tested it by leaving it to charge while the tab is off for 1 hour before touching the area that gets hot.
Maybe someone can perform this test to confirm/deny. Is this extra heat bad for my tab?
The supplied charger is also USB style (without the data connection), but outside the specs, so the differences are minimal.

[Q] help, charging issue

So I pay £45 a month for my Samsung galaxy mega 6.3 I've had it for a month and a half now and its a lovely phone, works well and everything, however all of a sudden I plug my charger in and it constantly flicks between charging and not charging (the little lightning bolt symbol appears and disappears constantly) whilst the cable is firmly plugged into the phone, this is when the screen started to flash at me and click on things I haven't touched , the most common thing it does is switch on driver mode , the back and options button flash at me and the screen switches on and off rapidly, I've reset the phone and tried a different battery and still the same result, its not as bad now, when I put the charger in this time the screen doesn't go weird it's fine its just my phone will charge but after 5-10 minutes it will stop charging again and I have to go and unplug it and plug it in again, this is seriously annoying so is it a malfunction with the phone? Is It something I've done? Is there an easy way to fix it? I need help please!
Is that the same when you charge your Mega through USB cable from PC? If yes, then it is phone's hardware problem, but if NOT, I would suggest to change charger.
Charging from PC is also possible, but the charging current is about 1/4 th of current from dedicated wall socket charger - the phone is charged although much less intensively.
Nominal charging current from wall socket charger is approx. 1.9 amp so if you need to find new one, choose wisely and accept only charger with 5V 2A specs.

S3 charging too slow

Hello all, I have a galaxy s3 I9300, the problem is the charging takes forever to charge ... I tried AC and from laptop. I changed the battery to my other I9305 , and the charging went really fast so it's not a battery problem.
If it's the charging port , can it be fixed ?
Mabye the problem is the cable; try another USB cable to see if there are some difference.
If not mabye yeah, is the charging port.
Try to hard reset
I had the same problem and after multiple headaches, I finally found the answer.
Check all these things out:
- Some background application or service might be draining your battery and thus not letting it charge properly. Go into battery settings and check if everything is normal or there's something disturbing in there.
- Your micro-usb plug has dirt in it. If you can't see anything from the outside, and you're not going to mess anything up, I'd recommend to dissable the phone and have a closer look.
- The most common and most likely problem to be going around is that your cable or power adaptor isn't working as it should. If you are using the stock SIII charger, it has a well known problem and doesn't provide the 1000mAh it should - I have two and both of them give an output of ~100mAh. To check this out, download an app called "Galaxy charging current" (I think you must have root access on your phone for the app to access the charging data). If it's not getting 1000mAh, try changing the cable or the power adaptor.
I hope this helps!

Fast charge/ Quick charge problem

Alright I have a weird problem my fast charge / Quick charge is no longer working anymore it only says charging . I have checked to see if it was the charging adapter and cable and both of them are fine because they were fast charging my Note 4. Only 3 things I can think of that might be the problem well 4
1. The charging port is faulty and needs replaced
2. The battery is faulty
3. The processor is messed up but unlikely because it is working fine
4. Something in the system is keeping it from fast charging/ Quick charge
Does anyone have a idea what might be wrong with it ? My phone will normal charge fine it just will not fast charge anymore
Thanks
Might be the cable. Have you triend a different one?
The Charger needs to communicate with the phone before it switches to fast charging mode. If your cable is broken and communication is not possible it will not fast charge.
This is the reason a charge on cable (without the two data wires) will never work for fast charge.

like I said in the above post it is not the cable and I have tried multiple ones still does not work but when I use the same lg fast charge adapter and cable on my galaxy note 4 it fast charge and even when in use the Samsung fast charge and adapter on my v10 does not work but does work on the note 4.
This happens to me too...I just unplug charger from wall and back in, after that it's all good. I think in my case problem is because charger stays in wall non-stop.

I have tried that still no luck at all I am at a lost as what it could be.
Fast charge
I have had the same problem. At first I replaced the battery didn't help so I ordered a new OEM charger. It worked until tonight. I thought I'll give it a little smack on the table. I plugged it back up and now it fast charges just fine. I'm going to try the same on the other charger.

you can check this:
1. Make sure your device is fresh, not too hot because the thermal sensors inside the phone if detect the battery too hot, the charger dont activate fast charging.
2. Make sure the cable you use is good enough, i mean not so flimsy or thinner, it must be fatter because the current fast charge use.
3. If that i say above is right then plug the fast charge into the socket and plug it to your phone, if with in 10 seconds the round circle of fast charging dont appear on battery icon then unplug the charger and plug it again until it ativate fast charging.
its a common problem i have too,, i use the original charger and cable who came with the phone and even the phone are cooler and so on sometimes fast charge dont ativate at first attemp.

Wondering USB hub with PD charging now enable on S20 line

was looking into upgrading to S20 but wondering if issue with S8 and S9/note9 has been fix thx for Samsung finally getting PD certification
So back in the day you could get USB C hub and hookup note9/S9 with pass-through charging, but charging speed wasn't enough to keep up with battery drain
playing a game or HDMI out or using GPS split screen with other app while hookup to hub will slowly drain your device even while charging ... eventually it will die.
or say using DEX
question is for people who already bought device S20 tested a USB hub with PD delivery see if there no difference in charging speed while phone is using say SSD or Harddrive or USB camera
and are charge levels while doing this able to keep up with drain speed / actually gaining % in battery rather loosing.
or does the OTG function is what limit all this from charging at respectable level
I did this with the s20u with the charger they provided it took 2 hours to charge no drain issue
If it's taking 2 hours it's probably charging at 5V/0.5A (2.5W) USB charging. So long as you leave it alone and don't use your phone it will charge .... Not doing PD charging (15W) that's a disappointing guess OTG disables anytype of fast charging.
If they would only enable 5V/2.4A normal USB charging I'll be happy under OTG
