Ok guys so i was faffing about with my tablet installing apps in the systsem directory (its rooted) so when i reset to factory they would still be there... all was good untill i installed to many and i got a message saying insuffient memory, and tablet, froze when rebooting its stuck on tab 4 loading screen..
i have an external memory and android recovery to work with as no pc recognizes this tablet, never have.
Things ive tried:
Wiping cache
resetting to factory
restarting tablet
installing a new rom
Tab 4 7.0 (kitkat)
What i think needs to be done... just not sure how to do it:
removing apps out the system directory or setting to default but im not sure how to do this with only android recovery that lets me update from external memory card?
£10 to who ever helps me solve this..
TWRP file manager .. you can remove files to gain space

Hi all,
i know this question has been posted many times but it didn't really help for me. I've flash my phone to 2.3.4 and root it with CF-ROOT. I checked my phone storage and internal memory is still left with 700+M.
However when i install apps by running APK or installing them from market, it keeps prompting that there is insufficient storage.
Its definately not any issue with the market because i used the new market and the old one and even running apk direct, it still gives me the same problem.
Is there a hard limit in the phone that sets some memory for internal use thus i can't use the 700M left?
Not my device (I'm running an original Fascinate with custom ROM), but have you tried booting into recovery and wiping the Dalvik Cache?
Once you do this and reboot the device, it will take a few minutes to reach the main screen as the cache has to be rebuilt.
It worked for me, though I had to wipe the darn thing several times as I was reinstalling all my apps.
Hope this helps,
Wook
Hey there!
I found myself in a small pickle today.
I tried out a few roms on my motorola defy plus, and as of today I have absolultely no space on internal memory, although it is supposed to be 1GB in size.
I'm thinking that this happened, because every time I tried out a new rom, I installed all the applications I use all over again.
I tried clearing the cache, the Dalvik cache from recovery, but it didn't help at all.
In this way I am unable to install any aplications whatsoever, whenever I try to open the Market, the phone hangs for a while and then reboots, actually whatever I do with it, it reboots, for example opening the contact manager, trying to manage the apps and so on.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Perform a factory reset
before installing new rom.
Thank you for your reply, but unfortunatelly it doesn't work.
Any other ideas?
It really seems odd, because the du -hd1 command from terminal doesn't show what is that big. It shows 2.4 GB, from which the memory card is 2.1 GB located in the /mnt folder.
Is there any way that I can wipe all data from the phone?
AW: [Q] Internal memory 100% full after trying out more ROMs
Cwm has the option to clean up the SD card or under the android settings. Maybe every before and after the flashing process backups of your system?
I THINK U WIPE EVERYTHING using(EXCEPT RECOVERY)
ADT.......
THEN FLASH A NEW ROM
HIT THANKS IF HELPED.....
Hi all,
I bought a Proscan PTL7035-PL (preloaded with Android ICS 4.04) last Christmas. I rooted with a great success and have it running a full-fledged Google Play store. The only drawback is that all apps go to the internal sd which has only 2gb of storage space. I tried a couple of ways swapping the internal and external sds. None of them has worked. Then I followed one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991583. Basically by modifying the mount point of the internal flash and external sd as described in the file vold.fstab , the hope was to make the system use the big sd storage for apps and data storage etc.
Here is where my nightmare began. After reboot, my tablet stuck at the android logo and the booting never finished. I kind of know that my mounting points messed things up. The fix can be as easy as just restore the backup copy of vold.fstab which I have on the tablet. The problems are that:
1) There is no way to access the system folder of the android device now as the device itself cannot finish booting; and it can't communicate with a PC via USB.
2) Even if I can force it boot into the Android System Recovery 3e, it is not much a help as it needs a certified ROM or backup copy to recover. The official ROM is not out yet and I don't have a backup copy.
It looks like my device has been soft bricked. So how to pull it out?
Anyone ever solve this?

Long story short, similar issue. Has Rooted my 9 year olds Tablet, (Same as Op), and actually had it running great. Well, I was installing Gapps, via root explorer, and my Son was talking, and I forgot to Mount the System Folder that I was Replacing with the gapps one, R/W - it stayed R/O and never got replaced.
Thus the other 2 folders I changed to R/W are stuck that way. I think it was the entire Root Folder, and One more. I can elaborate.
Is there a way to fix this, as the tablet will not boot properly. (Hangs on Splash Screen), then if I attempt recovery, it gets stuck at the Android with the Red Triangle coming out of his belly, but no Menu Choices.
Anyone?
Hi guys,
I can't work out why but when I go to wipe all settings then install custom rom from zip file in cmw recovery, it completes normally but after the reboot it just stays on the android bot. I went back into recovery and managed the phone through usb to my PC & saw that in the phone storage there was nothing where there is obviously supposed to be boot files. I have installed this custom rom before & it has been no problem. I also have tried a few other roms (all that i've tried before & they all work) and the same thing happens. I have found one rom that worked strangley and when I manged the phone on my PC i saw that it has placed the boot files on the sd card (not the phone storage).
how can i fix this.
i am very new to rooting so please no complicated talk
can someone not help? this is a big issue.
ill try and explain the problem in more detail below...
i have been messing with my phone lately using CMW TOUCH to wipe my data then install rom from zip. everything was going great until now.
i want to install a rom (that i have installed before.so i know its compatible with my phone), i go through tge same procedure of wiping data then installing from zip.all goes the way it should with it telling me its installing from zip, after a while it tells me to reboot the phone. when i do all that happens is it stay on the green android bot for 1 min then reboots. i went into CMW TOUCH to connect phone to pc & found out that it installed nothing, nothing on the phone storage and on the sd card except the custom rom.
i have tried this with few other roms all with the same results.
NOW...
ive managed to find a rom that will install so it is functional all except recently after a reboot it has stopped detecting the sim, weird.
i connected the phone to my pc to find that all boot files are stored on the sd card not phone storage like it used to.
i had an idea that i will try later today and that is to move the custom rom over to the phone storage from the sd card. remove the sd card during install. maybe that will force the install to use the phone storage for the boot files
will let you know the outcome
jamos
i have just tried to install the rom with the sdcard removed from phone & the same thing happened. even though during the installation it tells me that it is formatting system then installing it installs nothing to the phone storage.
Hi,
I have a Huawei Ascend G6 (U10) and rooted my device with TowelRoot 3.0
When you get a new phone it's custom to first fully charge your device and then let it fully deplete before fully charging it again to make sure you use the full capability of your device's battery. (during this time I rooted my device) Now, while it was at only 3% of battery I was playing a silly game, called Can KnockDown 3. While playing this game, my device turned off due to no battery. After it fully charged again, I tried to run the game again but it got stuck on the initialisation screen.
No big deal, I thought. So, I went on and just un-installed it and tried to re-install it. Problem is, I got Google Play error 492 when I tried to download/install the game once more. So I restarted my device, tried to un-install the Play Store and tried a hard reboot. None of those worked.
After some reading I got to know that I had to install an app called "ROM manager", boot into Recovery Mode and delete the Dalvik Cache (Which was said to be located in "Settings". Now, I don't know much about phones, nor Android. So that proved quite difficult. I went into Recovery Mode but was unable to find the "Settings" tab. So, I wiped Cache and the other setting. Can't quite remember. When I rebooted it, the problem was STILL not solved.
Now, I never noticed the REAL problem because I had my external SD card mounted.
This morning, I wanted to change my profile picture on an app called What's App Messenger. It gave me the following error: "Failed to load image data, please try again later." That really bothered me and after a reboot the problem was still not solved. I quickly realised that all my pictures were on my external SD so I turned off my phone to take it out. Booted it without external SD. Tried to make a picture with my camera, but it said "Internal Sotrage full. Please insert an SD card." but when I went to my filemanager there was NOTING on my internal SD. No maps, nothing. However, in my settings it says that only 1.98 GB of the 4 GGB internal storage is used...
Could someone please help me with this?
try using DiskUsage app, it shows every folder in your phone and how much space they take, also if you have rooted your phone, it shows wich system folders take most of the space (logs and tmp folders, safe to erase)

I appreciate your reply, but I don't think that's the problem. I think my internal SD card is f***ed up now. I've tried wiping it all I want but to no avail. Probably something went wrong with rooting it, or installing ClockWorkMod or something. I don't know.
What I do know is that I need help!
Have you found a solution
