Particularly *#100# - to locate phone number says "Connection Problem or invalid MMI code"
And Ping test says ipv6 fails also...
Any fixes?
Anyway to find out phone number on a sim card with no credit without calling customer services?
Browse to Settings > About phone/device > Status. You might see the number listed here. If not, tap the SIM status entry to open another menu. Scroll down a bit here and you should see My phone number.
But it may be different if you transferred number from one sim to another

*#100# doesnt work for me either
type -#06# and see if your imei numbers come up
Also with some network carriers when you top up it ask if you want to top up your own number which it reads out or another so you could try that
That gives me the same error code as OP.
I didnt really want to top it up, it was only to access O2 priorities.

i meant *#06# if your imei numbers dont come up then you have lost your imei numbers and will have to restore them. if they do appear then try texting number to 2020

Yes. Just call them and tell them you are having problems.
Find the "getspc" application.
Now enter ##3282# in the phone app, click "edit" and enter the
code the SPC app gave you.
In EPST click "view info" then Advanced.
In most cases the MSID will simply be your phone number.

exactly. I didnt bother writing anything down, since Sprint's setup is pretty easy. your MSID is your phone number, you just need getspc, punch in your ESN and it gives you your 6 digit MSL number.

Recently purchased the gs2 sim free and stuck my orange sim into it
however, when I go to 'settings' > 'about phone' > 'status'
'My Phone Number' shows 'Unknown'
it hasn't caused any problems YET
however, I've read reports that it can stop you using certain apps
is there a fix to this?
btw, i'm currently on stock ROM, unrooted.

Stick your sim into an older phone and you should be able to set the sim phone number manually. Sadly there's actually no way to do this on Android (even though it is capable!).
used a blackberry and fixed it, thanks a lot
My number now shows on my SGS2 and this is how I did it.
I put the sim into my SE k850i,
Menu > contacts > options > special numbers > My numbers, then enter your number.
When you put the sim card back into your Samsung the number should show up under settings.
Hope this help.
Should be similar for other SE k models too.

I've found a few new dial codes in the Rogers ROM following the Portico update. Here they are:
Note: All of these codes launch a sub section of the "extras+info" application through its GUID (2377fe1b-c10f-47da-92f3-fc517345a3c0)
Field Test
Code: ##3282# (or ##3282 + call)
Description: This one's not new, offers some statistics on radio. The settings also allow you to change a few things (such as network type, SMS limits, ENS and CMAS RMT).
Component: FTDComponent.dll
Color Variant + Life Time Counter
Code: ##634#
Description: Also not new... Displays the multivariant color (my value is null but yours might be displayed) and life timer. It reads that info from the registry ("Software\OEM\Nokia\Multivariant\Color" and "Software\OEM\Nokia\lifetimecounter").
Component: ColorVariant.dll
Silent Installer Component (no actual title - found a reference to "TestUI" so this may simply be a test)
Code: ##4678255#
Description: Mine does nothing at this time but the code seems to indicate that it monitors for provxml files. The monitoring is actually done by the SilentInstallerServiceAgent (SilentInstallerServiceAgent.dll). It monitors for registry entries pointing to physical provxml files at "SOFTWARE\OEM\Nokia\SIAgent\Multivariant" and "SOFTWARE\OEM\Nokia\SIAgent\Tier3". It also monitors the physical folder "C:\Programs\CommonFiles\OEM\Public\PreloadedApps\tier3Apps". When new provxml files are detected, it executes them (I haven't seen any indication so far that it'll do anything besides file copy instructions).
Component: SilentInstallerComponent.dll
extras+info (nothing displayed)
Code: *#07# or ##07#
Description: It gives a completely blank screen. The code is purposely written to keep all elements on the main page to a "Collapse" visibility (meaning hidden). But all the information that would be normally displayed when launching the "extras+info" application is in fact populated.
Component: Regulatory.dll
There's one last dial code that is in theory coded into the phone but the ROM doesn't trigger the action (it's not part of the OS support dial strings):
Product Support Tool (no actual title)
Code: N/A (can possibly be launched through an NFC tag if specifying a "DialString" argument with a of value "778" - I ordered some NFC tags to try it out)
Description: Because I haven't been able to run this app yet, I'm only speculating based on a quick code review... Allows you to view and modify some core cellular settings. You'll be prompted to enter an SPC (security code) before proceeding into certain (if not all) screens.
Component: ProductSupportTool.dll

I was thinking the same thing. If it requires a security code, it must be important!
Anyone test these on an AT&T variant?

I have no idea. I'll need to look at the code a little more closely. The issue is that I can't run it right now; unless I find a way to enable Interop capabilities for third party applications (or sign my app as a second party - OEM - application). Or, if I get it to work with NFC tags (which apparently, were shipped yesterday)... And even if I launch the application with the NFC tags, I still need the password.
For each component I listed, they all have a native code back-end; the front-end is in .NET (non-obfuscated so very easy to interpret) but the back-end (where in some cases - such as the Product Support Tool - most of the code resides) is in C++ (harder to interpret). The Product Support Tool reads "items" from the C++ dll and populates a key-value type list. I'll need to disassemble and analyse the back-end C++ component to better understand what kind of items it's reading. The SPC code check is also done in here so I may be able to figure out the algorithm used to check the code and/or what static values it relies on to validate it.

That's interesting... Anyone else only get their phone numbers while doing ##3283# ? I've read a lot of people are able to enable 4G on some of the RM821 (international variant of the Lumia 920) through the settings in the "field test" component which means they get more than just their phone number.

778 is the code for PST, which should, in theory, allow you to modify settings related to the radios. I entered ##778+call and got a "Service tools" menu to open, but there is nothing available to select.

Code for MDN?
Hi,
Can anyone help with a code to change MDN? I've got the wrong one from a temporary sim used when setting up the phone. And now I can't change it. It's annoying as this number is carried through to the main dialler.
Thanks!

Nokia tells me to ask AT&T and AT&T tells me to ask Nokia. I had both techs on the line, but neither one knew anything about the codes or why we couldn't disable LTE from Cellular settings. Thinking of flashing a different firmware if that lets you control the LTE. I looked into the the development section a little, but not sure yet if that is a solution.
Am I understanding it correctly that value in ##634# Color Variant + Life Counter depends on Registry file, so if you flash a firmware for Red unit, Color Variant will say Red and if yellow it will say yellow.
Is this right?
So basically the phone depends on Product Code as every firmware has different code.
I flashed back to the AT&T 1249 ROM so I could have the field test option back. Until there is a way to enable field test again, I guess I'll stick with this. I looked at the other threads here, but there doesn't seem to be a way to flash to another ROM and have it work on AT&T.
Duds another solution???? thats is a ****... i can't flash but the 4G LTE Works sooooo ban here.
Hello I have a really annoying but strange issue I cant make phone calls or send and receive text messages but I can browse the internet.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 which im sure is sim unlocked but im not 100% sure. It has been working ok up until recently something has changed but Ill be dammed if I know.
I am using GiffGaff and reported my SIM lost so they send me a new one with the same number on it but this did not work.
Im running the stock ROM ..I tried to re-root the phone but this did not work.
I have done a factory reset this has not worked.
If I take the sim out of the S3 and put in into either my old HTC Desire or HTC Desire S it works fine i.e I can make and recieve phone calls.
But soon as I put it back in the S3 it says "Unable to regsiter on network" so it HAS to be the S3 but im sure it is sim unlocked! ive previosuly tried Vodoo unlocker and it said sim lock status inactive could it be wrong?
I tried similar to this: (But when I got to network lock it says on my S3 (MENU NOT EXIST PRESS BACK KEY Current command is 186) what does this mean???
==============================================================================
"Put in a different SIM card to the one you use with your carrier.
Switch the device off and on again with the SIM card in place.
Open your dial pad and then type in *#197328640#.
Go to Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > and wait 30 seconds or so.
Then hit Menus and choose Back. You should now see Network Lock. Then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ."

No it starts 35 ?
so it matches with the one under the battery?
If the SIM works in other phones then the S3 is the problem, try a SIM from another network in the S3 to see if that connects.
If it doesn't then I'd guess the phone IMEI has either been blocked or is locked to another network (but wou would see a network lock message in that case). You say you can still access data - are you sure that is with wifi turned off? If it is unable to register on the network then gprs won't work either.
I suppose it might be possible for a part of the radio modem to corrupt, or a hardware fault. Try flashing a full stock ROM including a radio, with a full wipe before trying the SIM again.

For the post above this the SIM on the phone and battery are the same apart from at the end of the number there is a " / follow by a number" this is differant.
On my mobile the IMEI ends in 6785701 /04
on the battery the IMEI ends in 678570 /1
Not sure if thats relevant?
I am not conncencted by Wifi soon as i hit "Mobile Data" GPRS is enabled and data is enabled. Ok ill try what you said.

The bit after / is not relevant on the IMEI .
Have you actually entered the GiffGaff APN settings .
Or are you running on O2/ Tesco settings and not Giffgaffs .

I have double checked thatmy APN settings are correct as used this gudie: http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Le...tings-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Also/td-p/4491856
I know they must be working as soon as I enable the giff gaff APN I get GPRS data just i still cant make phone calls.
I have already tried a factory reset this didnt make any differance. When I try to force and upgrade on the S3 it says "Your device has been modified sotware updates are not avialble"
I have ordered a free micro sim from Three (thats the network i know my S3 was originaly supplied by) once i have triem them ill update.
I have run a CHECK MEND Report it is showing as this:
Ever blocked CheckMEND has a record of this item having been blocked by a cell phone network
Currently blocked CheckMEND has a record that this item is currently blocked by one or more cell phone networks
Lost CheckMEND has no record that this item is currently reported as lost
Stolen CheckMEND has no record that this item is currently reported as stolen

Its the IMEI that gets blocked not the sim .But worth trying another sim anyway .

Hi everyone, I recently bought an used S8+ (G955F). The seller didn't say it had any problems. I happily went home, inserted my sim card and turned on the phone. Entered the pin code. Then it all went downhill really fast. I will list my observations here (tried with multiple sim cards from different carriers, same stuff every time):
Signal - 1/4 bars when out of the city, 4/4 when in the city.
When sim is inserted and the phone is turned on pin code is required.
When trying to call anyone, Not registered on network error is shown.
When trying to send an sms to anyone, "Currently unable to send your message . It will be sent when the service becomes available" error is shown.
When pressing Select network operator automatically in network settings, "Unable to connect. Try later" error is shown.
When pressing Select manually, "Error while searching for networks" error is shown.
Internet not working as well.
At first I thought it was a demo phone, checked IMEI and baseband version - they were there, so I think it isn't a demo phone.
Could you guys help me out in troubleshooting this device? Could that be a software or hardware problem? Any help will be appreciated <3
Some things I forgot to mention
MM#6 error is present.
However, I checked imei.info and imei24, the phone is not blacklisted on both. Also it shows as unlocked. What is going on
