Concept-ify - the one and only improved stock Android Marshmallow ROM
Started by @Gray47Maxx and @kamilkos16.
Turned into something beautiful by @Pachops427 and @trpslHello everyone!
It's time for Concept Team to present our new and improved stock MM ROM:
Concept-ify!#include
* If you have any modifications - it probably will not work. I've warned you.
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
* Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM.
* Because only you are choosing to make these modifications.
Features:
AOSP UI and apps
Custom rootless kernel (SkyMelon 9), much faster and more stable than stock
Massive cleanup of bloatware (Removed 170+ apps), so plenty of space for your own apps
Multi-window mode added.
Improved, sustainable sound (doesn't damage your earspeaker, like a certain soundmod out there)
No deep system modifications (the world is yours, he-he)
Additional packs which will make Stock look like AOSP or (in the future) CyanogenMod/LOS
And much, much more...
Version 3.5 changes:
-Regressed to SkyMelon8 Kernel due to some issues with SMK9 causing bootloops
-Fixed an issue where screen casting was disabled
-Tweaked some system colours
-Fixed Face Unlock being unavailable
-New UI with rounded corners
-Redesigned Settings app, fixed some issues with colours
-New fonts from Google Pixel for a more AOSP look
Installation:
Concept-ify is now a universal zip for ALL models! Simply flash the zip through TWRP over stock 1.33 (make sure you're on the latest version!)
The latest version, stable_v3, comes in a convenient single zip format. Flash it in TWRP, and follow the on screen instructions.
Users who are currently on Concept-ify stable_v2 can choose the "Update" option, and newcomers can choose "Install" for a clean install.
Enjoy!

Video instruction of installation!
PM to me if you experience any problem with this pack
Mine is M4 / 16GB . Is it possible to install this patch on pexo rom v3 ( stock mm based rom )
I have 956 mb free in system partition
Interesting... Some questions:
- Should I do this procedure on a fresh install of stock rom? Or can I do it on my setup which is stock rom with some bloatware removed with TWRP scripts?
- Will this result in a fresh install? Will I lose my data and apps?
- If I get careless and **** things up, will my current TWRP backup restore everything(even fix the partitions)?

There isn't any script for 16 GB version by now because I think it's not necessary

- u can try on some modified system but I don't guarantee it'll work like it should
- no if u backup data u shouldn't lose anything / It's in second step
- if u follow instructions u should be fine !!! Just be carefull and precise !!!
Can I apply this for E2312 8G?
---------- Post added at 10:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ----------
The system more than 4GB, after apply this u have 5.5Gb that's mean move system app to SDCard?
SDcard can be format in this process.
So I should first flash a tft file, then do this?

Yes, you can. You'll get more space then)))
I've flashed a clean tft file via flashtool, then I flashed it via TWRP. Now, it's been 20 minutes and it still didn't boot. And the phone is heated up.

Hmm... What did you do before bootloop? Have you only flashed the ZIP file?
I flashed a clean rom via flashtool, flashed recovery via fastboot and flashed it via twrp.

So, you haven't done anything with a partition resizing? It may be because of this. Also, have you wiped before flashing the FTF?

And what does this patch exactly?
And will it do its job as it should if the stock system is already some tuned and tweaked (e.g. debloated, especially with associated odex files, also: with Xposed, Adopted storage formatted as F2FS, etc)?

The main patch will delete some unnecessary apps (AFAIK even Google ones) and will replace them by the Xperia X analogs

Probably, no. So much tweaks for the system. But you can make a backup, reflash the whole system, then get another backup and use this.

Xperia X, what is it?
And if a system is already debloated (including bloat apps odex files, so much free space is retrieved), Google stuff is replaced with "pico" opengapps.org,
then is the patch needed at all for resizing partitions with parted?
---------- Post added at 10:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 PM ----------
Gray47Maxx said:
Let's begin!
Code:
...
6. Type: /external_sd/parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
7. Now you have to type in one by one:
rm 30
rm 29
mkpart primary 742 6142
mkpart primary 6142 7818
name 29 userdata
name 30 system
...
Click to collapse
And how much free space is needed in the system partition to resize it this way?
ALTERNATIVE QUESTION:
Is the both partitions boundary, i.e. 6142
in:
Code:
mkpart primary 742 6142
mkpart primary 6142 7818
Is it set arbitrarily and we could set other value instead according only to our needs,
or
it must conform to some physical medium quantization (blocks etc) to maintain optimal data writing there?

mkpart primary 6142 7818 means that the partiton start on 6142MB and it end on 7818MB which makes 1676MB partition so for example:
Code:
mkpart primary 742 6142
mkpart primary 6142 7818
You want to make first partition bigger so u take 200 mb from second one and get 742 6342 and 6342 7818 like that
U can't change 742 or 7818 u can change 6142 but in both commands must be same

Hey XDA!
I have been making custom LX CM11 builds for my iyokan. I thought I'd release them here.

* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
Credits to mikeioannina, CyanogenMod Team and others who made LX possible. I am just making minor changes to their hard work.
I will try to keep up with latest LX and CM changes but their are no guarantees. This work is provides as is.
WARNING: This ROM uses a modified internal memory layout. You can BRICK your device.
Our /system partition is originally 400MB but this space is not enough for a fluid kitkat experience and a full installation with proper google apps.
Our /cache partition is also too small to fit art-cache when we enable the ART runtime. We originally had 100MB /cache but art-cache needs ~150mb of free space.
I have repartitioned the internal memory layout, giving:
353.5mb in /system
570mb in /data
4mb in /cache
If you want to use this ROM you will always have to use the included kernel or use a kernel that includes the layout changes. Bug reports with non-standard kernels will be ignored.
You will have to wipe the device and make a clean install.
You cannot restore nandroid backups from previous android versions or restore nandroid backups from this ROM to other ROMs that don't use the new partition layout since you risk corrupting the data.
I suggest to use Titanium Backup, Helium or any other similar app to backup your data if you really need to.
Requirements:
* Have the stock ICS 4.1.B.0.587 full ftf flashed (doesn't matter if you have flashed it in the past or if you flash it before installing cm11.0, it will work both ways)
WARNING: If you are coming from mike's LX CM11, FLASH STOCK FTF first and follow the instructions below.
Steps required for correct installation (order is important):
1: Flash boot.img in fastboot & reboot into recovery
1.1 (optional): If the device is not booting, reboot to bootloader again and run:
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
2: Enter recovery, go to mounts and storage
3: Format /system, then /data and then /cache (Important step!)
4: Flash update zip
5: Flash gapps (recommended package is the one provided in the link below)
Steps 1.1, 2 & 3 are not needed when you install new builds of iyokanLX CM11 on top of older iyokanLX CM11 builds in the future.
If you want to return to a ROM that doesn't use the new partition layout, you need to follow the above steps again (only replace boot.img & update zip with the ones you want to use).

Custom Kernel for all the P780 roms???
@andreya108, thanq for your good work. and posting the recoveries and kernels here also. it might be helpful for so many p780 users.
is your kernel can be used in both JB and KK?. b'coz of network signal issues and fast battery drain in KK i switched back to stock JB. will your new kernel solve this two issues in KK. not only for me, i had seen so many unhappy KK users with these two issues .
The kernel is only for KK. Any roms. But one should repack boot.img, only a few provided (stock + miui 5.5.29 + cm11)
Different versions for ROW and China EMMC layout.
Do you know if I can use kernel on Nexus 5 2.2. CN (link)? Asking because I see this ROM there, but ROW, so maybe you have tried? If yes, which of them should I choose (1507, cm11 or miui). Interested because of 3 headset buttons (out of which only 1 works currently).
EDIT: Ok, I read in your post above that I need to repack it somehow. So for now I'll pass. If it's not very complicated process and someone would be willing to describe it, I'll be very grateful.
EDIT2: I see that you are the author of the ROM that's in the files. Didn't know that. Sorry and thank you for providing the fruits of your work to us

Check Kernel Injector tool, I've updated the first post.
Hello!
I have big problem with your kernel. Now I have CM11 beta2 with "boot-cm11-ak-prada.rc8-stocklcm.build191 #2". GPS isn't working. Earlier I had Alice Project v8.4 with your kernel rc5 and still the same problem - GPS isn't working. What should I do? Is any option for efficient GPS on your kernel?
Thanks!
Currently I cannot answer definitely. There are a lot of problems with CM itself, so it cannot be used as everyday rom. Battery drain is awful.
But on Alice Project v8.4 + "boot-1507-ak-prada.rc5-newlcm.build176.zip" is still the same problem. GPS isn't working. Is it possible to have working GPS on your kernel?
Have you repacked the boot with your ramdisk?

There are the instructions about repacking

thanks for your good work. any changelogs available for the new releases.
what's the difference between lz4 stocklcm and stocklcm?.
Changelogs only in Russian @4pda.ru for now, sorry.
lz4 - kernel packed with LZ4, not XZ. So, it is larger (only fits in + layout) but has less loading time.
Please give guide to change layout...
How to shift from row to row+, using recovery (if possible)
Soft bricked, reflashed. Lost. The instructions are not quite clear to me. Am I supposed to flash the files in the emmc zip folder via PT and then install the recovery img via recovery flash? If yes can someone tell me a good ROM to install the files with that will work with the 8 gig row version?
I switched it by downloading firmware for flash tool and extracting the files from this thread to the directory with this firmware, then in flashtool you have to set format partitions and download.
AND BEFORE FLASHING YOU MUST BACKUP YOUR IMEI - otherwise it will be deleted. I used mobile uncle tools for this - backup it to your external sd card - the internal sd will be deleted in this process

Thanks. And the recovery? It seems it's a flashable zip. Should I flash it from the recovery?
I unpacked the recovery to the same folder as the firmware and also flashed it from flashtool. After flashing lenovo firmware you will have stock recovery so then you need to root your phone etc. This is the fastest option.

The Prehistory of UltimateROM
About a month ago I decided to set out to improve the performance of my phone with a more optimized build. I had already begun building OmniROM 5.1.1 with a some set of optimizations based on the work of OptiPop Team, and shortly after some the major issues on Marshmallow on our devices were resolved, this idea to create an ultimatively optimized AOSP-based ROM has born.
Why Should You Use UltimateROM? What makes it different?!
Honestly, I don't necessarily care, how many users or downloads my ROM has. Most importantly, and what I do care about is people liking and enjoying their phone; if you try UltimateROM and you like it, great! I'm glad you enjoy it. If you don't, maybe leave some feedback on how I can improve it, and go try something else in the meantime. If you'd like to know, what I've done that makes this ROM unique, here is a list:
Highly optimized. similar to Linaro(and in many ways, better than), build, resulting in a smoother Android
Compeletely developed in the open, everything I do is right on my GitHub for anybody to use and improve upon.
A unique kernel which attempts to balance features, stability, and of course, performance
Almost the sources, excluding apps, the SystemUI and some more, are based on CyanogenMod ones, which means there are more fixes and support for our legacy devices (even though CyanogenMod itself doesn't really support any devices like our, anyway google doesn't even do that minimal support as CM Team does)
Disabled SELinux. Looking backward on how many issues SELinux was causing and still causing for people that use it on MM, it seems to me a ridiculuos how google promotes and implements it everywhere, without any proof of improving anything rather than making worse.
Current Information
Everything I do with UltimateROM I always test personally on my phone, but anyway...
Code:
#include <disclaimer.h>
/*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear
* war, or the current economic crisis caused by you following these
* directions. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and
* if you point your finger at me for messing up your device, I will
* laugh at you.
*/
Please also note that currently I don't test installation with the Gapps. So far installation is only tested as dualboot ROM - though, the uploaded build is an usual one, - please let me know if the uploaded build has issues with booting, even though normally this should not happen.
What's working:
RIL (phone/SMS/3G)
Video (playback & recording)
Audio (playback & recording)
Wi-fi
Bluetooth
Camera (Front and rear)
2D/3D HW Acceleration
USB, MTP, ADB
all native tethers (Wifi/BT/USB)
external storage
What's not
Formatting SDcard as adoptable storage will screw it up (don't format / encrypt)
MTP bug with doubled folders in sdcard root folder
ROM features:
Dark Marshmallow Theme
long volume press to skip track
PA Pie control
SlimRecents / improved AOSP recents
Re-added task manager
Navigation Bar
System UI tuner
expanded desktop
storages are swapped by default
extended reboot menu
customizable button backlight settings
Viper4Android FX
superuser embedded

Installation
Before installation, make sure that you have enough free space on partition /system. AT LEAST 540 Mb is required for this build if installing WITHOUT any Gapps. If you don't have enough space, follow repartition manual. (at your own responsibility for any kind of possible damage. Be sure to measure twice and cut once!). There is a CWM ReParted zip that was tested by @Culateralligator.
wipe cache
make sure you're using TWRP 2.8.6.0. All the below is only tested on this recovery. Philz is not supported by this ROM and not planned to in the near future. Note that TWRP from the linked topic requires preinstalled chrono kernel.
install ROM first
install latest chrono kernel
install gapps (optional), if you do so, make sure you are not running of space on /system ( about GApps )

Take some time to try this ROM, and now there are some issues
1.there are lost 4 opentype fonts (compared with Sergeyl's CM13)(JP,KR,SC,TC-Regular),so Simplified Chinese display likes XXX
2.V4A needs to works with busybox, lol...
But ROM works smooth

These are removed, because of overly sized ROM. Are these fonts only that support these languages? If so, I'll of course re-add them. I was comparing this ROM to my OmniROM and haven't found these fonts, so I thought they can be safely removed.

I guess, it's common 6.0.x problem, as busybox has got partially replaced by toolbox and toybox from AOSP, thus making some apps confused.

Yeah, these 4 fonts only support Janpanese,Korean,Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese,(lastest outdated AOSP 6.0 has same problem...)Maybe OmniROM has different font files

Did you format your sdcard as adoptable(internal) storage? This is something you actually shouldn't do and it's explicitly mentioned in the issues list as it doesn't work properly on our devices. SDcard should normally work without formatting (in case of M - which also performs encrypting of it), thanks to @SergeyL work. Now you have to format sdcard from Windows / *nix / whatever other OS; if even this won't help, we'll probably need a volunteer to test it. Personally for me sdcard works, but you may want to try SergeyL's CM13 to see if it's working there.
WiFi is unstable, lost connection from time to time, Web Browser is crashing. And any of gapps do not work - do not fit in system. Yes, i readed first post, i have orginally partitioned internal card and do not want touch it. SergeyL's CM13 work with smallest gapps

I can confirm Web Browser is unstable.
I haven't those WiFi problems yet, but I'm testing for little time.
What do you mean with smallest GApps?
I've tried no repartition + SergeyL GApps and I get ERROR CODE 70 -not enough system space-.

removed Gallery, Calendar and PrintSpooler to free up some space
Viper4Android driver post-install (no need to install manually anymore)
Fixed busybox related issues
Might fix GApps not being fitted on /system issue in the future, but I'll need a volunteer to test the new partition scheme. If anyone knows how to modify CWM repartition scheme zip and create a new one with ~700-750Mb on /system, it would be even much great, because right now I have absolutely no time for this.
Enjoy!
Something weird... I've connected phone to PC 5-6 times.
Last 2 times appears sdcard1 with 1,09GB (real internal sd).
However, I have access to files of real external sd. But when I try to paste a file, it says I have no space for it.
Succesfully installed gapps removed printspooler webbrowser gallery calendar clock and 1 more thing and i found 48 mb gapps

Indeed, it seems that I have misapplied one fix to the vold binary. Does this issue also appear on CM13?
P.s. it's possible that vold from CM13 will also work, because UltimateROM use same sources as CM. Can anyone try replacing /system/bin/vold and check if it helps?

Some personal thoughts:
- this kernel works only on exynos variants of S8(+) and Note8, only Pie and OneUI based roms (stock and stock based roms) I'm not responsable for what can happen if you flash on other devices/roms/android versions.
- if you take any of my work without my permission i'll report you, and you'll probably get banned.
- you should read at least install instructions stated in this post - i won't offer support for any issues regarding installation;
- for more info about features included and bug reports make sure you read post #3;
- press 'Thanks' button instead of saying it - it will keep the thread clean and keep me motivated to do more;
- feel free to send me some coffee (which btw, runs out pretty quick) via paypal, if you want to support my work.

FAQ:
Q: How to report bugs?
A: If you want to report a bug make sure you include:
-device variant / modem version / bootloader version / region
-detailed info about the encountered issue
-steps to reproduce the bug
-logs
Q: How to take logs?
A: Download Logcat Extreme and take a look at this.
Q: Does it work with stock rom?
A: Only if you format data on TWRP before installing, if you had stock kernel before - please do note this will erase all your data and internal storage
Q: How to revert to stock kernel?
A: That's not a choice at this moment, you either reflash your current custom rom (if that had stock kernel included), or install stock firmware via Odin which will probably cause damage to all your data including internal storage.
Q: What semi-systemless kernel means?
A: I changed the way of patching camera drivers and secure storage libs in a way to avoid altering original files, so if you are on stock rom and stock kernel, you can simply backup your boot.img and if you don't like hades you can restore that boot.img without any futher issues.
Q: Saved wifi/bluetooth connections don't work anymore, what to do?
A: Simply forget and reconnect wifi networks and/or re-pair bluetooth devices.
Q: Why is this kernel better than *&% kernel?
A: I never said it is and i also don't like to compare. You are the only that can decide if it is or not for your use.
Q: Why this kernel?
A: I made this kernel to disable samsung security and add few things for myself, since it went pretty well for me i decided to include it in the rom and release as separate too.
Q: Why samsung security disabled?
A: Samsung firmware and kernels are signed and made to get along eachother untampered. The second you change something (even only with rooting stock rom), that very moment security starts to spam in logs/operations which can result in lags/heats/freezes etc. Since we can't sign our roms/kernels as samsung, it`s better to disable security to avoid conflicts and ulterior issues.
Q: What's Moro Sound and how does that work?
A: It's an advanced sound control implemented first in S7 by @morogoku, which can be found in hKtweaks / MTweaks - sound section.
You can change the output gain for speaker(s) and headphones, and also the equalizer to one of the profiles inside, or to your very own profile according to your taste.
*I'm not responsable for any damage made by yourself on your phone/headphones/ears using too high values on this mod. If you are in doubt just leave it disabled or switch to other kernel.
Q: Why a separate tweaks app?
A: I made this app to properly maintain and adapt A5/A7 2017, your choice what app you want to use.

Congrat to developer. You have done a great job with this v1.2 kernel. When I first used it was on ROM Hades v17. I had to go back to Hades v16 cause my battery didnt last a day. In the meantime I have updated to Hades v18, even though I was reluctant to do it. I big smile is on my face cause the kernel works nothing less than perfect. Thanks a million.

CAOS 11 (Custom AOSP OS) is a project which based on @phhusson's Treble GSI AOSP 11. I began it because original project have not only pros (stability, speed, support) but also some issues and limitations - pure AOSP code have some bugs / haven't much useful things and it's a hard way pulling it. So i did this fork. System can run with SELinux enforced state, as an original Phh AOSP GSI. Fully compatible with PHH-Treble patches. Has dynamic root which can be activated/deactivated without reboot - 'su' binary and SuperUser app (can works on all devices even with system read-only). Also has dynamic SafetyNet helper (but it compatible not with all devices), users have four ways to pass SafetyNet: a. just enable SafetyNet option (recommended) b. disable SafetyNet and enable "Spoof Pixel 5" then reboot c. enable both options and reboot d. mount system as RW and create empty file /system/phh/secure (legacy method), and in the Recovery do Wipe Data or Factory reset

vanilla, gapps, go-gapps: all possible architectures
NAMING
Some information you should know about knowing what type of gsi it is
<ARCH>_xyZ
<ARCH> can either be arm, a64 (arm32_binder64) or arm64
x can either be a or b
y can either be v, o, g or f
Z can be N or S
b = a/b
a = a-only
g = gapps
o = gapps-go
v = vanilla (no gapps included)
f = floss (free & open source apps instead gapps)
N = no superuser
S = superuser included
Z = dynamic superuser included
-lite = for VNDK Lite vendors (also can help with broken camera even on normal VNDK vendors)
so in most common example "arm64_avZ" is ARM64 A-only vanilla with dynamic superuser

KN0WN BUGS
• excluding fixes, the same as on AOSP Roar (in some cases doesn't work: broadcasting on TV, calls via BT; offline charging does not work normally etc etc)
NOTE: always test ROM first without Magisk (with clean boot ramdisk). and don't send me bug reports if you have:
a) Magisk installed
b) modified/custom vendor or kernel
c) dirty flashing rom without wiping data
d) modified props values (another device fingerprint and so on)

Hi,
I flashed CAOS R 2021.04.19 in my HTC U12 life but DigitalWellbeing tools are not available. Is it only available for pixel devices ?
And I'm unable to transfer files using USB connection? Any suggestions or work around to get it working ?
Thank you.

Yes, I flashed caos-v305-210419-arm64-agZ. I'm unable to find any settings/app entry for WellBeing.
@eremitein - thanks for your work. The ROM is great and fast.
I have it installed on Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro. There are some problems with sound and screen backlight but both of them can be resolved from Phh treble settings. I have posted solutions in X3 Pro thread.
I have one question - in case I would like to update CAOS in future. Is there any "official" way to do this ? Is it possible at all ? Or clean flash is required every time you post new version ?

How to update GSI
< only same ROM variants >
• go to TWRP, make wipe Dalvik cache (optionally, but recommended)
• install new GSI img to system (or reboot to fastboot/fastbootd and flash GSI)
• boot to TWRP again, resize System
• reinstall same GApps if used before
note: dirty update is not supports by me, do not send bug reports - if you will have bugs first try clean install

Big fan of this CF. I hope there is a option to update (with further versions) using fastboot/adb. (Without loosing data) My Oukitel WP6 just supports these 2 options .

I have one too, and you can simply flash a new version on top of the old one in fastboot without wiping, works totally fine without loss of data.
BTW @eremitein , did you work some magic on VoLTE in the latest releases, or is it on @phhusson side? For me it just works out of the box suddenly, no more fiddling with IMS or APN settings, see screenshot. This is on your latest crDRom, really really nice, see screenshot:

So basically just:
fastboot flash system xxx.img
?
Yeah!
And a
fastboot erase cache
never hurts, just to have no junk left in there.
