Hello, I have a big problem with my 4x. The phone is overheating a lot from the time it came from repair. Could someone share ss with temps from HWMonitor ? Here are mine, I'm unable to hold the phone in hands and I wanna show some ss to the xiaomi service. The phone was 100% working technically before the service, now is a mess
Please help guys
P.S The phone was just idling, no apss etc because I've tried everything and did a clean flash

This is abnormal for sure but you are using custom rom so who knows what is wrong with that rom,kernel....
You should flash MIUI rom and see or maybe some other custom rom.
What is that rom you are using now?

Been using this before service and that's not the problem because the max CPU was about 45 degrees not more but I'll try tomorrow to flash full MIUI.
It's RR. Tried custom kernels, different firmwares and still the same. Clean flashes etc, everything.

I dont think i have ever reached 50C even during heavy gaming.. there is something wrong with your phone definitely, maybe they forgot to put thermal paste on CPU after removing it? (if there is thermal paste, tbh im not sure)
What is even more weird is that the phone is actually working at this temperatures, did you played with thermal config file? With these temperatures the phone should shutdown or restart atleast..
Btw. is pa_therm0 temperature sensor reading bugged on Redmi Note 4? Cant be that high.

Never played with any thermal configs etc, the phone was running great before. Also flashed new system & kernel so it will reset.
Thanka for ss Sir.

I was playing Temple run brave. First it's fine. But after about 20mn uses! The phone is abit hot. And everything is abit laggy! I wonder why! I check the ram and suprisingly there's even more free space! Then I flash custom kernels on stock ics and overclocked! The problem won't be solve! I realized that it's abt the stock rom! One time in the laggy condition, i found out that Cpu frequency drop to 810mhz! I have no idea what caused the change in cpu frequency. I did turn it back to maximum frequency! And the phone still laggy but better! I suggest that there's something on stock rom keep decreasing phone's performance in everyway( CPU,..) once once it's hot! Anyone experience that problem or only me? Who can solve it?
There is an process, AFAIK, that turns the processor to a slower speed when it gets hot. Try changing the governor to "performance".
Process?

What's the process called? I will try to kill them! I don't wanna change the governor to performance because it will always run at maximum frequency even screen of which drain battery like hell!

Freeze it with Titanium Backup: it's something called overheat control (or something like that)

I would not suggest bypassing the overheat control.

Even freeze overheat controll, doesn't help much! Still a bit laggy in temple run brave!
CPU frequency keep dropping even if i freeze overheat controll. So there must be sth else beside that process!
Maybe a bug in the kernel that you are using.

The game is lag in a few mn while playing the game! So i tried XSX kernel V2! Still lag! Then i flash KA Xs speed kernel found out that while the game is lagging the maximum cpu frquency run at 810mhz. So i assume that cpu frquency does drop on stock, xsx and KA Xs speed kernel!

Maybe there is a hidden process in order to prevent users from locating it and stopping it.
If this issue happens when phone is hot, preventing the phone from dropping the frequency could most possibly kill the hardware.

heh? read the comment in temple run: brave! it's the game's fault.
try other games, if it's laggy then there's problem with your phone.
i played Nova 3 for 45 mins with no lag at lag, though i dont know if the frequency got lower or not, the phone's hot though , but still no lags..
Hrm i found out that it's just a random decreased! Sometime it's fine! But i'm sure it did happen on stock rom n stock kernels but not always! U can try to check ur cpu once u think it's laggy!

I've encountered the same "freezing" when playing Plants vs Zombies for longer time... but I also noticed that when I was in "cold" place e.g. room with air conditioning system, there is no "freezing" issue even I played longer than I used to...
I guess, it is really affected by the unit's temperature...
Let's say that unit's temperature is the cause of the problem! So what make that related to system performance? I thought it was a process called "overheat controll". I freezed it and even remove from system apps. Still no uses!

Did your problem get solved, I'm too having such a situation.
Wha the **** is up with that? I'm actually raging right now.
I play any game for 5 minutes or so, and when I quit it the phone has it's performance basically halved. It goes like this: Run Quadrant Standard -> get 3300 points -> play 3D game for 5 minutes -> game slows down noticeably -> close game ->run quadrant again -> get a score of 1600.
What's up with this crap? It's so insanely aggravating. I restored my phone from PCC and it still happens. The only way to get it running decently again after it starts crawling is to reboot it.
Seriously, I've had it with this piece of crap of a phone. I think this **** crossed the line, I'm selling it.
Hrm i think it's when ur phone get hot and decrease it max cpu frequency to about 800mhz! So try some custom rom or kernels might fix the problem!

I don't have that visible underclocking under CPU Master. Mine always says 1500 as max frequency. It looks like you set it to 800 manually.
But anyway, I think it's related to overheating because I noticed that if I let it sit for a while after running a game performance goes up again.
Anyway, I don't give a crap about what's causing it. A phone should NOT overheat from normal use. Ok, it's summer and it's hot, but seriously, I've had it with this phone.
I can't deal with this. I'll just sell it and go back to my trusty ol' Xperia Ray on Gingerbread.

All high power phones have problems with overheating and becoming slow. Install a custom kernel and undervolt it, that should help. Also using a custom rom and kernel has reduced my heat problem a lot.
Of course your xperia ray doesn't have issues because it is slow. A dual core in a phone is going to heat up.
I have played shadowgun for 30 minutes without any slowdown.

Ever since receiving Lollipop I've found the phone to get hotter and hotter during regular usage; browsing, texting, basically anything with the screen on and brightness at 50-60%. It gets hot around the camera button after like 5-10 minutes. On JB/KK, the phone only ever got so hot during intensive gaming.
I'm interested how many of you are experiencing the issue. Please vote and let me know your model/ROM.
I'm on D802 and running Cloudyfa 3.1(same thing was happening on stock V30D).
I experience overheating a lot with lolipop, even with a various custom kernels and roms, I've tried UV, downclock, etc...
Then I went back to stock kernel and soomboons ultralite rom. Started all over again by wiping everything. Installed all my apps, and with trickster mod downclocked to 1577400 with ondemand gov, and everything else stock. I think that's it, been a week now and...
Phone doesn't overheat that easily, UI experience is very smooth considering huge downclock (offcourse it is snapier on 2,26, but then you have battery/overheat problem)
My battery finaly last over 4hr SOT, with screen most on max brightness, and everything synced on wifi/4g.
Hope it can help
chers
EDIT: this is a screenshot after I typed this post, temperature is just fine...

Not single sign of overheating. Actually I'm getting insane battery life out of L.P./Cloudy. Battery stats attached with medium usage with Wi-Fi and sometimes 3g.

Nothing special, just installed amplify and lollipop memory leak fix xposed modules and thats it. Not even trying to save battery.
YES! Have a T-Mobile D801 here. On stock LP 5.0.2 my G2 DEFINITELY heats up during normal usage. Since I've been on CM12 and Ive really not had any overheating issues at all.
Been running a T-Mobile D801 on the stock Lollipop 5.0.2. No overheating problems at all, other than when running Waze extended times in the car while charging at the same time.
Note: I always keep background sync on most things switched off on any Android phone, so the same applies here. Gives me close to two days battery life.

I was feeling little wariness while I am holding my device in my hand and when I checked my device temperature with Cpu-z I got these readings. So please confirm is this really a concern for me or not.

Woah buddy those are some heavy temperature readings there. I have not encountered any heating issue except while installing custom roms or using the phone while gaming in high brightness. I think the fact that you were using your phone while it was being charged increases the device's temperature greatly and caused the problem because even my device heats up like crazy.

These readings I noted after my phone booted up after 'optimizing apps....' but truly speaking I am feeling only little warmness.
While charging my phone temperature fluctuate between 45-50
This is my current temp reading while I am charging and typing this reply and I am feeling only little warmness[emoji14]

It is normal for the device to get warm when it reaches the optimizing apps screen because the brightness is set to max at default and processor is continually used. You have nothing to worry about mate.

Yup, it's pretty normal. Also it shows cpu temperature not your device's temperature. I can see that you have boeffla kernel installed, so be aware of modding too much with kernel settings. Thermal throttling is enabled in the kernel so no need to worry.

I asked on MIUI forums and they said it's when the phone is in deep sleep it leaves gaps. which is stupid but that's what it is
I asked in the other thread also because I Just now found this one.
What is the Shell application and why is it using so much battery? My phone is the Snapdragon version and I flashed the Sphinx international rooted rom.
10hours sot, omg, finally bought a decent smartphone *_*
How do you guys get 10 hours? Android + android system takes about 28% of my battery (snapdragon)
EDIT: Never mind, I forgot that I never really drain the whole battery anyways, otherwise I would get 9 hours with pretty heavy usage.

You should also consider that it takes approximately 3 Hours to charge because its charging 4000mAh, my S3 charges for 2 Hours to charge 2100mAh .. So think about how many mAh your packing in compared to other phones.

My Note 4 need 1:25min. from zero to 100%. It's not fair to say "S3 is slower" cuz RN3Pro is from 2016 and S3 from 2012.
