Can people check if this is the case for them. My note 8 arrived with a sealed tab but these numbers shouldn't differ. Had a chat with Samsung online chat and they'll get back to me Monday apparently.
Purchased from Samsung UK. Very suspect
Mine have matched for every device I've ever purchased.

Yes. T-Mobile pre-order.
Just checked, both of mine matched, also purchased from Samsung UK.
I would give Samsung a call.

Thanks for checking. I've told them
Mine matched as well TMobile Note 8 purchased direct from Samsung US.
Could be an error in the factory where they put the phone in a box for a different Note8. Does the IMEI sticker on the back of the phone match the one on the box or the one in system settings?

Sticker on phone matches box. Must be error. But it'll affect me badly if I need anything from Samsung. They'll think I'm being devious.
Has to be exchanged though there's nothing wrong with it. Pity. This unit giving me this battery life. 5hrs sot with 40% left. Not bad. All on 4g too. New one will give me worse battery life and pink screen lol

It's up to you if you want to keep it, most people throw away their box after getting the phone, so if the only problem is the box, you can just say you threw it away. It's your decision if you want to send your phone back because there was something wrong with a cardboard box. The only problem would be if you're still in the return period and ask for a refund or exchange. In those cases usually they ask for everything back.

As someone who always keeps the box, for potential future sales, i thought most people keep their boxes.
But regarding the return you're right, it's a headache, due to the device lottery. This one's ok. I'd ideally like written acknowledgement they sent me mismatch imei info so I can use that in any warranty claim. Or send me a box with the same imei as is in the software lol. Case closed.
None of the above will be done for be I'm sure lol. I really just want them to know, so I get no bs in the future.
What imei is on the Receipt? That is what matters

As long as your IMEI matches that of the one on your account with the actual device, That box won't matter.
I don't think most people throw away their boxes. It matters if the sticker on the box matches the phone, especially if you are buying from a third party.

Did you manage to get this resolved lawtq?
The same thing (same phone, same mismatch, direct from Samsung UK) has just happened to me. I've also flagged it to the store and am now awaiting their response. I'm assuming they are going to want me to return it but we'll see.
It's definitely a factory issue though. The box was properly sealed and it's pure luck that I thought to check the IMEI.

Nothing. I want an exchange. I don't want any rubbish down the line. I'll ring them now, emails have proved useless so far. The customer service so far very unimpressive.
Keep us posted on your developments too! Please
Ok so an email to Samsung 9 days ago proved pointless.
Just rang them, they've arranged uk mail courier to pick phone up tomorrow for exchange with tracking. I'll get exchange a few days later after they process the return (inconvenient). Can't I go into store and just exchange? No, as I purchased online. Grr
So if anyone wants slow service, email Samsung

I raised the issue by phone on Friday but they then wanted to switch to emails for the subsequent responses. I've just sent off a request for an update and if I don't get one by tomorrow I'll call and get it resolved directly.
The need to send your device back before they'll supply a new one is an inconvenience I could do without though especially as this is a glorious phone. I can't imagine I'll manage to persuade them to do any different for me though.
Keep me updated on how you get on as well.

No point. Samsung still has to be the ones who fix this anyway and never goes to give out your imei. And the pickup didn't happen. Expected from UK mail tbh. They will never be dpd
After enquiring why the pickup didn't happen I was given some made up reason by the Samsung rep. UK mail say the phone was refused pickup. Unreal. I'm just returning, can't give these people my money. Lol

##786# ..... Scroll down ,You will see reconditioned status and activation date

He is right about the ##786#.. but typically if you get a replacment phone from sprint and not Asurion, the only times that you will get a new device is if they are on back order or if you complain enough to customer service.
its coming from asurion ... lost my original .. we will see
i got phone and it says all 0's for data and voice and NO for reconditioned ...
it has the asurion sticker though behind the battery on phone
so i am guessing it is safe to say that the phone is brand new???

hmmm that is weird .. wonder what that means
If you get the phone and theres a sticker behind the battery then most likely it refurbished. When i had my OG EVO and had to get it replaced through asurion, it was refurbished, they sent me 3 replacements all refurbushed and defected. So about the 4th one, it actually came in fresh out the original box with all the accessories.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
...Yes , Unfortunately it sounds like its likely a refurbished handset.
I had been fortunate enough in my past experience with Asurion Insurance to have gotten brand new units. The brand new units come in original box with a brand new sealed battery , SD card and all accessories. (Exactly the same way as if you purchased it in the store)
The refurbished ones come in a Asurion box , have their sticker in battery compartment and is the handset only. No battery .
However, if you would like them to send you a new unit . Keep sending back any refurbished units they send you. After 2 or 3 times they usually send out brand new in box units.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Crap, and i thought it was a new unit because it didnt say reconditioned. The one I have from them now has no dead pixels and seems pretty solid except for the battery cover not snapping all the way shut on the top. I asked if they could mail me out a new battery cover but they have to ship me another unit.
Anything else I should make sure is ok on the unit? Some of you guys have gotten unlucky with refurbished units. Some people actually believe that refurbished units can be better then new because they are all specifically inspected. How long does asurion warranty phone?
Great info. I got mine a week after release and suspected it was too young to be a refurb. I was able to confirm today that it was not. I managed to get it for $375 on the 4th of July weekend on Craigslist. Dunno how i found such a sweet deal.
Not to take the thread on a tangent, but can anyone list all of the ## codes? Seems like i've used this one and at least one other before (the one where you must use your MSL as password). I'd like to make note of them for future ref.

You will almost always get a referb with your warranty until they send you several that is defective before you get a new one.
WoW did i get lucky ... so i called asurion to tell them that my battery cover was not closing all the way on the phone which was messing up my power buttons and volume buttons and wanted them to send me a new battery cover. They said that they cannot just send me the battery cover but would have to send out another phone. Well this time i opened box and it was a brand new HTC box sealed with everything in it .. manuals .. charger, etc etc ... i was very very pleased .. thanks asurion ... this was only my first exchange with asurion
Hi, all.
I'm a recent Galaxy Note convert. Migrated from years of glitchy and crap service from Sprint, and also a defective HTC EVO 3D. I absolutely LOVE my Note in ceramic white. However, I have had a couple of initial teething issues that I don't know are actual "problems," or just what to expect with a new Android device.
My Note is pretty much flawless most of the time, but there are instances where I've had random reboots, prolonged freezing up of the device (like when selecting certain live wallpapers and customizing their effects), and other times when transitioning from one program to the homescreen, and my phone will lag up and the icons will disappear off the screen and slowly reload a few icons at a time until everything is there, again. Also, I just realized that sometimes when I have alarms set to go off, they won't wakeup my screen. The alarm will go off but the screen will remain off. Other times the alarm will wakeup my device and turn the screen on.
So, my question is... should I be concerned and demand a new phone from Best Buy Mobile, or are these normal issues and nothing to really worry about? When I went to Best Buy, yesterday, to try and get a new phone, they were really apprehensive about it. They told me that AT&T would not allow them to replace the phone if the issues couldn't be replicated in the store (of course!). The rep did say some valid things to me about what could be causing the issues, but the whole random rebooting thing is what really has me concerned. He told me the phone was so new and that software updates have really came out yet to address any type of initial issues. Do you all agree or should I really try to get a new device??
Thanks in advance for any help.
I would get it replaced. I have not had a random reboot in both the stock rom and the SauROM custom rom. I know many others here, do not have random reboots. Something is definitely wrong hardware wise.
No random reboots or freezing on mine.

If you're getting random reboots on stock rom with no OC, then definitely go and demand a new phone. This sounds like faulty hardware. I've never had a random reboot, even though I am undervolting and OC'd to 1.83Ghz.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I am running stock ROM. So now it seems like I'm having two problems... the first being that literally no store in my immediate area has anymore ceramic white Notes in-stock and the second being the unwillingness of BB Mobile reps to replace the phone. Today ends my 14-day trial with AT& (even though I have 30-days to make a final decision) and I'm limited on how much I can do today due to an engagement I must attend, tonight. Does anyone have anymore suggestions on what I can or should do? Thanks for much for helping me sort through this. I knew that random reboots didn't sound right.

Agree.
The other stuff you mention (laggy screen transitions and such) seems to be par for the course where just about any Samsung Galaxy phone is concerned, to differing degrees on different devices, but there's zero reason why a brand new device should be locking up and powering off on you, unless there's more to the story.
In either case, dump it and get a new one.

Thanks. There's no more to the story. Haven't really played around with the phone much or modified anything. Anything modifications I've done have been 100% stock. I guess I'll have to try and get the black/blue Note and before my 30-days or up, hope to swap it out for another ceramic white. Considering this wasn't my fault and BB gave me the run-a-round.
Do what you have to do, but get that sucker replaced. If you have to raise your voice with them and tell them they sold you faulty hardware and you want a replacement or a full refund. If they say no, tell them to get their boss, if that person says no, tell them to get their boss. Eventually they will say their boss is not there, at that point tell them to get the DM (district manager) on the phone. Someone will bend and give you want you deserve, that's the whole point of a return policy. Honestly if they did absolutely ANYTHING but give me what I wanted with a smile on their face, I would demand a refund as they have not erned my money. Take that refund and go to an ATT store or go online and buy that phone. I have had to take the "get your boss" route several times when they tried to give me the run around and I know I'm right. Once someone tried to tell me that they wern't aloud to call/contact their DM (this was a radio shack), so i found called another radio shack and just asked "whos your DM...ok and I need to contact him, can I have a number" and about 5 minutes of hold I had their number and called him directly to tell him the BS I was dealing with. At some point you will get the guy who isnt taking the return personally and knows his job is to smooth this crap out, simple as that.

Thanks for the excellent response. I just returned from the BB Mobile store I purchased my Note from. Even though I was told BEFORE I came that they had ONE ceramic white Note left... when I got there, I was told not only did they not have anymore white Notes (and haven't had any for a few days) but they were completely sold out of black Notes. I was then told to "factory reset" my phone, as a "be all to end all" solution. I feel so exhausted. I'm scared to ask for a refund and then go to an AT&T store and AT&T tells me they won't approve me for a line of service. I know it's most likely improbable that will happen, but you never know. I just don't want to be locked into a contract and then they have the ultimate freedom to not work with me. But what you said makes a lot of sense. I wish you had posted your response before I went to the BB Mobile store. I really don't want to take a second trip there, tonight.

I understand man, its a chore to deal wit hthis crap. I do not know how the deal between ATT and BB works, but if you have a ATT store around maybe give them a call and tell them about what your dealing with, or hell call ATT customer service and tell them that they sold you a defective phone and you're just trying to get a new one. Wiping may actually help, but who knows. Your on a time crunch, I'd be more aggressive with every passing day. Maybe someone here can shed some light on the relationship between the two entities and if there is anything ATT can do.

*UPDATE* So I just got off the phone with AT&T customer service. Now, grant it, this is only my second experience dealing with AT&T customer service and they were probably bending over backwards for me because I am not a customer locked to contract... but I have a very pleasant and satisfying experience with AT&T. Not the horror stories I've heard online. I talked to two different reps, one regular rep and another in the warranty dept, and both were helpful, knowledgeable, and shutdown all of the lies Best Buy had told me.
Both reps said they had no idea why BB was being asses about giving me a new phone. The rep in the warranty dept went much further, and apologized to me for all of the troubles they put me through ... and specifically stated that she had no idea why BB didn't simply give me a brand new phone, as that's the whole reason AT&T has the 30-day buyers remorse policy. She said it didn't matter what the reason was for my wanting a new phone, I am still covered under the 30-day policy, and BB should have simply given me a brand new replacement phone.
The final recommendation was since I technically bought my phone from BB, normally the policy would be I would have to get BB to honor AT&Ts policy and give me a new phone. But, because of all of the lies and run-a-round, AT&T recommended I go to an actual AT&T Store and they should pretty much be able to give me a new Note. AT&T setup a time to call me on Monday, to find out if I was able to get a replacement phone. They notated my account, and they said that if for some reason I wasn't able to get a new phone at the AT&T Store, the warrant dept would send out a new phone to me. A bit of a hassel, but overall it seems like my issue will be resolved (I hope!).

Yes, I'm getting to that point, too. And it doesn't help they usually employ riff-raff trash around my area. I am calling BB during normal business hours to cancel my insurance with them. I've spent like $1,500 with them in the last year or so and another $350+ with getting the Note, and to be lied to over some B.S., just has me really soured. I would rather just have my insurance through AT&T.
Hate to hear all that mess...best buy mobile is going further and further down hill. Att was right...best buy should have replaced the phone. If they had none they should have secured one by order or sent you to a store that had one. Even if you were out of the 30 days the insurance would have covered you.
On a positive note, glad to see ya! I remember seeing you around the evo threads back when I had one

Hiya! Thanks for remembering moi lol. AT&T wasn't at all flattered that BB tried to throw them under the bus. I was fully expecting AT&T to confirm what BB had told me, but to my surprise, they said I was entitled to a new phone and should have been given one. I ended up going to a Best Buy Mobile outlet and an actual Best Buy Store. They all claimed they were fresh out of any Notes. One of them told me they had one in-stock, but when I got there, I was immediately told that was incorrect and they had no more. Called another BB in my area, they were supposedly fresh out, too. If there's any good news from all of this, it's that the Note must apparently be extremely popular! Either that or Samsung shipped very limited quantities. At any rate, I can't wait til BB customer service center opens, so I can cancel my insurance with them. I'm also taking back my Galaxy Tab to BB. I've barely used it since getting the Note. If I do decide I need a tablet, I'll see what the Galaxy Note 10.1 is all about.
awesome news man! Glad we were able to get you straightened out. This right here is the whole reason behind XDA. People coming together to help each other out. I am doing battle with AT&T right now myself. My situation is with my discount. I qualify for a stack of different discounts (can only have one though) and Everytime they "fix" my account I end up gettings texts telling me to call this number and verify my discount. When I call they tell me they need me to send them more paperwork. Im still in my 30day window, but barely, so I'm going down to the store tonight with box and receipts and telling them to have it fixed while standing there or refund me, no other options, no wait and see if this worked, no email BS. Either it works or it doesnt, simple as that. Im hoping I'll still be around this forum with my note and not another section of XDA with a new carrier.

awesome news man!

I hope you get this sorted out. Discounts are a huge thing. I don't even know if I qualify for any discounts. With Sprint, they made it sort of obvious to find out what discounts I was eligible for. Doesn't appear to be the same with AT&T. I guess I'd have to do my own homework.
Has anyone got any experience with claiming warranty through Amazon? I bought my S3 a few months ago and now there is an issue with the screen showing a pink splodge to the right
I assumed it would go through Samsung for replacement, but I asked Amazon first and they have already have a new one on the way to me! I tried to get out of them whether I would need to include the charger, cable and earbuds in the return, but they were a bit sketchy about that. Obviously they said they wanted the phone back, even if it wasn't in the original packaging, but they didn't really give an answer either way about the other bits. I can't find the earbuds that came with the phone, so I hope it won't cause them to charge me when they process the return
I remember having a kindle replaced once and they said outright to keep the charger and cable and just return the device.
Anyone have any experience with getting a warranty replacement from them with a mobile?
Thanks :good:
I wouldn't worry about earbuds, due to hygiene regulations they can be of no use to them whatsoever!
I haven't had a warranty replacement from Amazon. I have a question though. Did you have to pay extra for the warranty?

That was my initial thinking. I'll see if I can badger them further into giving a straight answer.

No, I just went on their support thingy and described my problem with the screen and that I have had it a few months and asked who I need to contact to get it repaired. They said they will replace it and sent me a new one within a few minutes (should get it on Tuesday) and issued me with a courier pick up for the old one. I was surprised as I thought Samsung would do it, but I was checking with them first anyway. It could be due to the fact I used a mastercard to pay for it and that gives you extra warranty and protection with things like this.
My HTC One S (early fall-to-bits black version) from Amazon UK was exchanged after a few weeks in a similar way... complete and new one arrived.
One good reason to use them.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with Amazon before, they always give good service. I was glad when they said they would handle my problem rather than Samsung!
Did you have to return all the accessories with your phone?
Had to return my Galaxy S because i got caught in heavy rain and wouldn't work and forgot to send earphones and USB cable but they never even asked and gave me a full refund within a day of them getting it.

I did anyway. The new replacement was an all new sealed box.
Yeah, I think this a new sealed boxed one too. I'll send it all back as it came sans the earbuds as they would just chuck 'em anyway.
So, a week ago I bought an HTC One from craigslist. We met at a T-Mobile store so that they could verify the phone was clean and able to be activated. They said everything was clean and safe to buy. Phone was working great for a week and then out of nowhere earlier today all the data and cellular service just turns off completely. I try turning it off & on several times, toggling airplane mode off/on, etc. etc. Finally I go in to a T-mobile store. After 30 minutes of turning it off & on, changing the SIM, calling corporate, etc. eventually they tell me that the phone was reported lost earlier today and is now blocked.
They tell me there is nothing they can do.... am I really just out the $450 now? Is there anything I can do??? What's the point of them verifying or checking anything if this can still be done? Any help or suggestions please!?!?
The only way to get it taken off the list is if the original phone owner calls in and says it is not stolen. It can be used with AT&T but none of the carriers that use Tmobile.
What your seller probably did was make an insurance claim. Get a second phone for $175 then he never returned the old phone sold it to you made $325 and then you get screwed.
Happens a lot more often now that IMEI can be blocked since march.
If you can get a hold of the person who sold it to you and be like wtf

If your seller was the original owner, then he is committing fraud if he has later reported it stolen. Check with the seller, and if you don't get a good answer, call the police. If the phone is stolen, then you need to call the police.
Thanks both of you, I love xda!
You think the police are really going to do anything about this? I kinda figured that would be a long shot. I'm guessing if I can find the seller's contact info they either won't answer, will hang up on me right away, or maybe even change their number if they didn't already....
To me, what I can't understand is how T-mobile doesn't have a better process that is more controlled. The IMEI should be tied to an account/owner and only be allowed to be activated on another account after transferring the ownership with the owner's consent. This seems like a pretty spotty process without any kind of controls in place.
Really don't want to be out half a grand....
Unfortunately I don't see any process like that anytime soon probably minimum ten years. That's what GSM is all about freedom to get a phone anywhere anytime. It is unfortunate that this happened to you. Happens very frequently especially within first fee months of phone launch.

The police report may not help you, but eventually it is quite possible that it will get the perpetrator into a lot of trouble - maybe keeping them from hitting someone else...
wait til all the big names start sharing the IMEI blacklists.
fun times.
I called T–mobile myself a bit ago and just explained what happened. Apparently the lady put in a request to unblock it. She said it will take up to 48 hours to get it unblocked and to power cycle my phone pull the SIM out and try to make a call in 48 hours. Not sure what to think about that.... I guess I'll just give it a day or two and see what happens :/ From the research I've done it sounds unlikely they'll unblock it but I will stay optimistic.
SIDE NOTE: I found the sellers phone number and the text string of arranging the purchase. Think I should contact authorities or T-Mobile with the info or just try calling them directly?
If nothing else doesn't work, you can sell it to an Canadian or foreigner... Otherwise good luck...Did you ask for the receipt?, because when I bought my t-mobile htc one, I asked the seller to sent me a receipt.

Haha yeah I understand what you're saying and that you're not promoting me doing the same thing that was done to me. As a backup plan if nothing else works, this device could be used on AT&T right? I recently came from Sprint so not real savvy on how the SIM card / GSM networks work yet. Would I have to get the device "unlocked" to use on AT&T or a different GSM network? If so, could anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this and/or how much that costs.
Att and tmobile share imei lists.
Take that text string to tmobile. If the number that Texted you about the se is the number on his account. They can cross reference your phones imei to his number and use those texts as proof of purchase and help you.
I work at a store and if you came to me with this info I would unblock it for you....just sayin

You would also get fired for doing something stupid like that. You need to read up on the process of unblocking phones. Serious note, dont risk your job over something like this. Its not worth it, plus that phone is property of asurion once its reported stolen.
Do this!!!!
*Try to contact seller and get your money back
*Contact authorities and have them file a report and maybe and insurance fraud case.
*Dont waste your time anymore trying to contact tmobile. They will not unblock it. That phone belongs to asurion due to them paying for it. I would also recommend calling them 1-866-268-7221 Maybe they can assist you with something.
Good luck and hope you get your money back.

Actually I wouldn't be risking my job at all and there is a very strong possibility it would get unlocked. in circumstances such as this a rep can approach his manager with it and the store manager has the ability to call customer care and request the unblock. I would not be unblocking it myself

Well there is your lesson learned, Don't buy phones from Craigslist! I actually in the past had that happen but on a iPhone 4S and well it actually got blocked 3 days later and AT&T said it was reported stolen. So From there on I either buy my phones on ebay or just do some AT&T loopholes to get a brand new HTC One which I did and pay the new activation price for it

Is eBay safer than craigslist? How did you get the new phone from Att?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Why not learn a lesson from it and sell it to get the most of it ? Thats what i did in past
You can sell it on eBay say it is blacklisted at least get some money back.
Buddy of mine lost his phone made a claim. Then found his phone the day he got the new phone he called asurion for instructions on what to do he sent his new phone back they received it and got his money back in about ten days total. But they never unblocked his current phone that he found again. Here we are almost three months later his phone is still blacklisted and did nothing wrong. Called Tmobile at least ten times they always say 48 hours and doesn't do anything so he just gave up its a paperweight.

So I went over to Ebay and I see there is an HTC One with a T-mobile blacklisted IMEI with over 40 bids selling for over $400... this is very encouraging. Only difference is that one is Unlocked and the seller said he already verified it does work with AT&T with some minor APN changes. Does this seem legit? If so, what is the best/cheapest/most reliable way for me to unlock my phone? I did research this, but it sounds like many online sites charge a pretty good fee for this and don't have the best reputation. Also, most recommended having your carrier do it, which I'm sure is not an option in my case..... Appreciate the support!

I wont suggest you listing it as a phone working on at&t because this phone would not work in usa after a certain period(when tmobile UPDATES their blacklist with other networks) , if the ebay seller advises as such he would face the consequences . Payments are mostly done through paypal and they give a 45 day window for the buyer to claim the phone as not described . That would put you again in the same situation you are today in . You not just sell it for parts ? Get your money out of this sh*t and get yourself a new phone?
Just my 2cent !
@jones75534 sorry to tell u but most unlocking service wont unlock your phone . It is blacklisted in all the database
So I have the purple camera issue (like everyone else apparently) and I'm wondering a few things.
First off is it worth it to go through AT&T for a replacement? I have been reading that people are getting Phones back that are in poor shape, and not only that but the issue is recurring in the replacement phones as well.
Secondly I am assuming I will need to relock my bootloader and un root my phone to send it back, correct? My concern is if I get a replacement phone with 4.3 already installed am I limited in my ability to root/s-off, etc?
Third, am I maybe better off sucking it up and sending to HTC and losing my phone for a week? If I do that do I need to relock/clear/etc?
Anyone... Bueller?
I'd say it's worth a shot. The worst thing that can happen, is you receive an unsatisfactory replacement device (whether it be too used/damaged for your tastes, or has a purple camera.) You can simply return it in this case, letting AT&T know that you aren't satisfied with the replacement.
I had my One replaced via warranty, and really lucked out, as it would seem I received a brand new One in return (still had the grey IMEI decal and AT&T "DON'T TXT & DRIVE" plastic wrap on it.) The camera sensor date is 5-22, but I've yet to encounter any purple with the camera, thankfully. My defective One had a 5-01 sensor date, and the purple was awful, showing up even in well-lit pictures.
IF YOU GO THIS ROUTE!!! Pay for tracking and insurance at USPS when you return the device with the prepaid postage label and packaging. This is for your peace of mind. AT&T handles warranty returns through a third party called SmartLabel/Newgistics, and there are quite a number of complaints about this company.
My complaint? The tracking number assigned to my return package was "not found" via their tracking site until nearly 3 weeks had passed. During this time, I was getting e-mails and phone calls from AT&T, warning me that they had not received my device, and that I'd be charged up to $900 if I didn't return it within 10 days. Apparently, Newgistics just sits on the package in a queue until they decide to attend to it. That's a really ****ty feeling to have looming over your head for 3 weeks -- thinking your phone was either lost or stolen -- and it can be avoided if you just cough up 5 bucks for tracking and insurance at the post office.
Also, one last tip, if you're concerned your device may be considered "damaged" (AT&T doesn't offer a warranty replacement for damaged phones, and will make you pay for the replacement.) Bring your phone to any AT&T location, tell them you're interested in getting a warranty replacement, and have them inspect your phone. They can put a note on your account that the phone is not damaged. Of course, this is different from water damage, which they cannot determine (due to the sealed construction) until you mail it in

Thanks for the reply. Was your device rooted or did you clear all that before sending it?
Sorry, forgot to address that. My device wasn't rooted, but it was unlocked and S-OFF'd with the GPE CID. Before sending it back, I changed the CID back to the AT&T-appropriate one (something like CWS__001) and restored via the stock Android 4.3/Sense 5.0 RUU. I did not relock or S-ON the device. They haven't yet received my return, however. From what I've read of AT&T's warranty department (regarding other Android phones,) they don't seem to care/notice what has been done, so long as the stock OS/firmware is present, and appears to be stock.

I would recommend you attempt to unroot and restore the phone as much as possible before sending it in, though! My above post should not be interpreted as a guarantee that they will accept a rooted/tampered phone.

Purple Tint Also
Hi everyone,
I also have this purple tint issue. I have had the phone since 7/10/13, and I keep thinking that the next software update will fix the camera issue. I was hoping 4.3 would fix it, nope. Now i'm hoping for 4.4 but I am thinking it will not do anything. I was going to wait until the 4.4 update comes out to see if this will fix it or not.
I purchased my AT&T HTC One from Best Buy. Would I have to go through HTC to replace it with the warranty or could I go through AT&T? Would you suggest one over another? Also, would they give me a hassle about replacing it because of this camera issue by like trying to say it's not their fault?
This will be the first time that I have had to replace a phone. Do I have to send it in and then I will be without a phone while they replace it or will they send me a replacement, then I send my phone to them?
Thank you in advance!

I would probably go into an ATT store and see if they can exchange it out right there. I would think, if you have your receipt they would. If not, I would then head into best buy and have them do it. You have one year warranty. I bought mine through att and just went in last week to exchange it, and the gal actually did it right there and loaded the info on the new one, however it was the 32 gb model, and I own a 64gb model. She had to place a order for another one which was sent to me FedEx.
I just go it yesterday, took only 3 days shipping, and now I have 10 days to put my old one in the box and get it shipped back to them. Pretty simple and painless really. I haven't turned the new one on yet, my initial observation looks pretty much identical to my old one, with no physical defects of the new (refurbished) unit.
I just hope the innards are just as pristine as mine was. I also relocked it, s-on, unrooted and restored att software to it. Didn't want to take the chance of some crap coming back on me.
Thanks!

In my case (blown speaker), I had to go to a special warranty store. They wouldnt replace it at a normal store for me. But the device service center or whatever it was did replace mine on the spot with no shipping, so that was a plus even if the drive was a bit out of the way.
I suppose I got lucky as well as I'd never heard of this purple camera issue and while I'm sure this phone isn't brand new, its been working alright. I've had terrible luck with the One, with this being my third replacement.

I just had mine replaced due to that issue, and the seams on the plastic, and the phone mic didn't work right, andd the screen had like 10 dead pixels lol.
Anyways got the new one back hoping for the camera to magically be better..it isn't. Still junk lol. Semi sharp and tons of noise in the picture. As soon as you zoom in for detail BAM noise. It is a phone camera and hey, at least it doesn't go purple anymore right? Oh my phone was in like new condition when it came, zero scratches (or it would have been sent right back to them).
