RN4 SD charging only when turned off. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

RN 4 charging only when switched off and if charger is already connected and phone is turning on. But after disconnecting the cable from the charger while it is on and again plugging it in, it won't charge.
While connecting to charger when it is on it shows in *#*#4646#*#* as
power plug:AC
battery status: not charging.
Is it a software problem or a hardware problem? After waiting for some time even if the lap doesn't detect my device. It charges. Tried to change settings in developer options to make it mtp only. Lap still not detecting.
Using stock miui 8.2.10.0 with supersu root. Original charger.
Tried using different roms even stock without root. Facing the same problem.

Battery won't charge when phone is off

1. My phone never charges when the phone is completely off. It seems to only charge when in Android. Is this normal?
2. How do you enter that rapid battery recharge service mode from the boot menu's? The mode I'm referring to is when the phone has not booted Android but all it's doing is recharging the battery with the screen off. If you press the power button, the screen turns on for a second showing you the battery level.

Mine does that by default. When I plug it in to charge when three phone ifs switched off, it well show me A image of a battery with water like thing inside our and the charge level..
Did you change something in the phone?

I decided to try a USB wall charger and it's now showing that image of a battery.
Do you ever see that battery image when you plug the phone into a PC USB Port? My PC has decent powered ports (almost 1000ma) but it just won't charge the phone when powered off. But charges when in Android.
I basically only flashed a retail ROM and updated the Radio.
Something to check into is the USB cable that you are using...swap it out with another one.
Speaking from experience with a different Android (DInc), I know I have plugged it into some cables that provide just power via USB (no data) and then I am guessing there is the possibility that there are some that provide data and no power.
The USB cable is perfectly fine, I tried another cable anyway and the same thing happened.
I tried three PC's including a Desktop with decent USB ports, none of them charge the phone while turned off. I tried two USB Wall Adapters and both can power the phone while off.
So it seems that if the USB Port cannot supply more than say 1.5Amp or 2Amps (basically all PC USB Ports), it won't go into battery charge mode.

[Q] CM9 charging problem

I'm running jokersax's beta 0.6.9.3, and I have the wierdest problem. When I instantly plug in a usb cable, whether it is through pc or power outlet, the phone doesn't charge, or recognize that there is even a connection. But when i fiddle and shake the usb cable and reconnect it, at random times it's recognized. However when I turn the phone off, the green light appears instantly as i plug in the usb cable, which means that the usb port is not broken. How do I fix this? (Also this has been going on since the early cm9 builds, but I was able to tolerate it till now)
Sounds like you've got a damaged cable/port/charger. It's only allowing some off the current though: when the phone is running it's not drawing enough to charge, when it's off there's enough to charge.

I don't know about that, when I've tried jokers CM9, I had similar issues, when I connect the cable it shows that it is charging but charges only like 5% per hour, hopefully I have several batteries and charge them using a battery charger. I've tried using fastcharge but that feature didn't work for me, simply didn't turn on.
it's not the cable/charger, I tried several different cables and chargers, all with the same result. I have a suspicion it might be a battery problem, so I ordered a new one. I'll see if that's it
Try unplugging and plugging it back in without moving it about. I have to do that on my Xoom (stock) to get the little charging indicator to show sometimes.

[Q] Phone discharges when plugged in and doesnt charge

Phone discharges and does not charge when ON and plugged in.
The charger light glows even if it is jst connected to the phone and not to the power socket. Though the charging seems to work once the phone is switched off but jst charges upto 10% after which the animation turns blue and stops charging further. , also if trying to charge with USB via PC it says unrecognized device and the phone doesn't charge.
any solutions?
have tried different USB wires as have a cpl of more Androids at home but same issue with all wires.
I am using pure stock rom with no rooting or flashes done yet.
There was a solved thread in forum but for other rom.

Not charging when powered ON, Charges when Power Off.

Hello there,
I have problem with charging. The phone is charging during power off but not charging when turned ON. I previously tried USB debugging and USB options to Charging but didn't happen. Later, I did hard reset and still same.
MIUI ver 11.0.1 stable
Android Ver 8.1.0
I would be very thankful for any solutions.
I had the same problem took it the service center they told me that my phone was water damaged...
Try to change the USB cable. I faced the same problem here about 3 months ago. Then I try to change my USB cable and it works. I thought the build quality of built-in charger is not the same as you buy aftermarket.

Strange charging problem

I have a strange charging/usb problem on my phone. Any help will be appreciated.
When I restart the phone and plug in the charging cable, it charges normally. When I disconnect the charging cable, I hear the sound which notifies that the cable is disconnected, but the "Charging device from USB" notification does not disappear (the charge animation next to the battery icon disappears). When I reconnect the charging cable, I hear the sound which notifies that the cable is connected, but the phone does not start charging.
In the meantime, the phone's connection to the computer works. And when the phone is switched off, if I unplug and plug in the charging cable, it starts to charge at every turn.
I tried different chargers and charging cables but the result did not change.
I tried it with a brand new charging board but it didn't make any difference.
I tried with global rom, eu rom and a few custom roms, the result did not change.

my problem is pretty much the same, when i plugg the charger it notifies normally that the phone is conected (LED & sound) but only charges for 1 second and then stops charging (still conected), u tried differrent chargers and stills the same, but sometimes charges normally, and when it does, just until 80%, any idea?

I don't think your problem is the same, because mine doesn't stop charging and fully charges. Only stops charging if I unplug and re-plug the charging cable.
Your problem sounds like a bad battery. Did you try to re-plug your battery?
