Samsung Galaxy A500F stuck in TWRP Recovery Mode - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need help urgently please.. I created this account because earlier today I installed TWRP for my Samsung Galaxy A5 from
HTML:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/general/to-port-twrp-to-galaxy-a5-a500fu-t3150843
I used Flashify to flash the ".img" file into my device and then Flashify asked if I wanted to reboot my phone so I chose 'yes'. My phone successfully booted into TWRP recovery mode but now I can't go back to the normal OS, even after I tried most of the stuff I read on net. I tried installing the stock ROM but it needed the software version and stuff which I think can be accessed only from the settings which can not be accessed from TWRP mode.
I am ready to Factory Data Reset my phone but I read that Factory Data Resetting wont work out.
HOW DO I GO BACK TO THE NORMAL OS?
Please help
It is a Samsung Galaxy A500F which I bought in June, 2015.

The info Is in /system/Build.prop.
And you don't boot via Flashify After flashing a .img File. That Triggers A Recovery-loop.

And by the way Mount System to access it.

you can go on download mode ?
you can fix that problem without data resset ,find cf autoroot for sm-a500f fllash via odin and after fllash phone can restart on normal mode.
or you can install fresh stock by these procedure.
search on google for SM-A500FXXS1CPL2 6.0.1 4 Files Repair Firmware and place right on odin ,that way phone wipes all and install stock firmware.

You could try the zip in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-2-6-3-0-touch-recovery-t1943592/post50943534
Then you could just flash that using CWM. And yes it does affect things when you flash it as it changes your recovery from CWM to TWRP which is more touch screen based, easier to use as well as being a lot more powerful than a basic CWM. Having changed you may find TWRP doesn't find your previous backups. This is usually as both of those recoveries tend to save them in different places and it's just looking in the wrong place for the files. You can either change the settings to a CWM style restore or just run a new backup through TWRP and delete the old CWM one.

Guys, everytime I flash twrp using ODIN it goes down as a success. And it reboots the phone. But then I shut down the phone and reboot to recovery its once again the default Samsung Recovery. The phone is not rooted. How do I prevent the original recovery from overwriting the TWRP recovery?

Just use the TWRP Manager from the Play Store. Root the phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33305792&postcount=3 and install the manager.
@lurker316: forget TWRP-manager. The only extra step, you need, is a factory reset. So backup all your data before. To avoid reboot after flashing TWRP, either uncheck reboot in Odin or pull out battery after succeeded flash.
Hi guys, i have a problem with my phone, I tryed to re-root it after upgrading to android 4.3, now the only response i get from the phone is download mode and that happens only when it's plugged in, I applied this TWRP but i still have the same problem. please if anyone has an idea, help!

Ok a few things to get straight. Recovery has nothing to do with root per se. BUT if you are not rooted, any custom recovery flashed via odin will not stick if the device is allowed to boot normally once.
I guess you are pretty new to this. Do yourself a favour and read through the threads in my signature. Then you will know what to do. In any case make sure what device model it is exactly you are using!

For doing this you will need original samsung USB cable and USB debugging ON...After doing this download latest version of TWRP or CWM and flash it via odin.In odin choose option PDA...If not there then choose AP and flash it via downloading mode. :good: and REMEMBER-Root is required
If u got success...hit thanks

I am sorry but that is not correct.
1) Any usb cable which is to specs will work (talking from experience)
2) USB debugging is only of concern when system (rom) is booted. So in download mode which is needed for odin it has no relevance.
3) ... and as I stated root is nice to have but certainly NOT required
Your two points are correct but third that u are saying root is not required....but for flashing custom ROM root is required....because in cyanogenmod I unrooted my device and after that my phone stopped working and twrp was also crashed

Your scenario is not an explanation of FLASHING a custom Rom. You can flash a custom Rom without prior rooting in a temporary recovery without issues. That rom however will most likely be rooted and unrooting THAT Rom as you did might crash things as you stated.
BUT those are two completely different things...
You can also check the first thread in my signature. It's in there too.
I'm not new to this....I'm developer for CyanogenMod 13 Galaxy S3 I9300

Flash cf-autoroot (specific file for s3 i9300) via odin and you are rooted. Simple.
Recovery and custom roms are by choice, not by force.

4. Flash SuperSU through CWM (download from here)
5.Wipe Cache partition.
6. Then flash anMicky387_kernel_511.zip

Thank you for this guide. It helped me figure out what to do.
Have a question. Is the Micky387_kernel_511.zip only for android 5.11?
I currently have 5.01. If I want to upgrade my N915F to Stock 5.11 so I need to install this kernel before or after I install the OEM ROM?
Thank you.
Thats all basic:
Download Stock FW
Download latest ODIN 3.10.7
Download latest TWRP Recovery
Download Mickis 5.1.1 Kernel (if you need Root)
use ODIN to Install the Stock 5.1.1 FW
use Odin to instal TWRP
Flash Kernel with TWRP

Now you don't need to flash a 'permissive' firmware in step 6 (you can flash flash the zip of the new SuperSU 2.6x after reboot into TWRP/CWM recovery to get root).
You can also try to remove/de-active KNOX software flashing the file KNOX-FREE_TEKHD.zip By @TEKHD (at the same time than SuperSU 2.6x if you want) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347792751
I hope this help you with this and other security warning messages
help me
It does not work on sm- n915fy with stock 5.1.1 . The flash recovery with odin is successful but when I turn on mode ' recovery comes out the message (in update system) and I still have the stock recovery
When using odin to flash recovery, untick the AUTOREBOOT option. When done, after pass appear, just remove the phone from cable and remove battery. Put it back to phone and reboot recovery. It worked for me...

Yes, when you flash a costum kernel you will lost Root. After flashing Micky's Kernel just flash the root again, and you have root again. It's not possible to reset ur Knox when you flash costum stuffs.. Simply just flash this attachment.

any other ideas to wat i can do to get it booting
Do you have a Linux machine? Not virtualbox, but real PC running Ubuntu. Because I've unbricked friends i9300 using Heimdall, because i didint need drivers for linux. On VM it wont work, because it's not recognized by Windows, so it cannot be attached to VM You can also try using Ubuntu Live USB or CD
yes i can get a linux not a problem mayb u can giv me how to do it..
thanks alot
Here is a Video tutorial how to use Heimdall. https://youtu.be/6TgyaUbjcm4
BTW, if You go to download mode, do you have proper Mode lNumber? And are there any mount errors in TWRP?
here is the link to to the my download mode on s3
https://www.dropbox.com/s/n01ncdyzo9jpu6k/IMAG0019.jpg?dl=0
Model reads SHV - E218S
no i don get any mount errors as u used USB OTG to transfer the files to the phone.
So, try this
1. Boot to TWRP
2. Wipe System, Data, cahce, dalvik cache, and internal storage
3. Flash back to noot rom http://arter97.com/browse/S3/ROM/back-to-n00t/back-to-n00t_ROM_V9.zip
4. Flash this kernel zip http://arter97.com/browse/S3/kernel/xda/arter97-kernel-5.0.zip
5.Reboot
Hope it works
I think, that you need specific backup of e218s. Try to look for someone who has e218s, root it, install twrp and make backup to sdcard. Insert sdcard into your device and restore it. That will definetly fix a problem. I was not able to find e218s firmware anywhere, so it might be a little bit hard. You can always send device to any phone service and they will flash the firmware for you
sorry i am a little confused now .
should i try the Heimdall methed?
should i download the rom and kernel in above and flash
or should i try looking for the 218s rom
Sorry i miss read it SHV - E210S
Ahh if You have e210s ,it will be easy, just wipe every partition in TWRP, (including sdcard) and flash this file https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/de.../CyanogenMod/cm-11-20141122-NIGHTLY-e210s.zip along with these gapps https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95832962473395379 and reboot

There has to be something that was done to make it i9300, because there is a thread here that says that you can convert the e210s korean model into the i9300 international model. I can't find it, but i'll make sure to edit this post and insert the link once i've found it. But I was able to find THIS thread which is for the korean variants of the S3. Get yourself a prerooted firmware from HERE and install it.
EDIT: HERE it is the thread for converting the E210S. WAIT? How did it show i9300? It is supposed to show i9305...
EDIT2: I see. You thought it was an i9300. You screwed the device by flashing an i9300 ROM when it was supposed to be the E210S, i9305's Korean relative. Don't make the same mistake or you will really brick your device. Or it may be already screwed because you installed i9300 recovery? What recovery did you install anyways?
IT IS SO MESSED UP, PLEASE CLARIFY WHAT YOU DID AND WHAT YOU INSTALLED SO WE CAN SEE WHAT YOU DID WRONG.
thanks alot ... i installed the pre rooted rom and it came on .. il try and convert it later

Can you attempt to boot to recovery using the correct button sequence?
Boot to recovery with this button combo:
VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER
Hold all 3 buttons until you see the blue text in the top left corner of the screen that says:
RECOVERY BOOTING
Also, see if you can boot to DOWNLOAD MODE
Boot to download mode using this button combo:
VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER
If you can boot to recovery, which you said was TWRP, select WIPE, then swipe across to Factory Reset. That might take you out of the boot loop.
If that doesn't allow you to boot normally try to boot to DOWNLOAD MODE and flash a the stock firmware through Odin. If you were running 5.1.1 then flash the stock 5.1.1 firmware for your device and country. You can download the stock firmware from www.sammobile.com. You will have to create an account first. Let me know if you can even boot to recovery or download mode.

When you boot to TWRP, connect to your PC and see if your PC will recognize your device. Then look in Computer and see if you can see the internal storage/sdcard. If you can then you can download a custom ROM and flash it through TWRP. If not, then boot to download mode and flash the stock firmware through Odin.
I put the stock firmware back on, Is my phone still rooted? and will i be able to try using xposed or will i have to start over again?
If you used Odin to flash the stock firmware then your are NOT ROOTED and cannot use Xposed. Now that you have a fresh install, start all over. Take your time and follow whatever instructions you are using. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help.

Yeah no problem. I will make a post in a few minutes with links to guides and files and threads. Hold tight and let me put it together for you.
One thing I need to know though. You said you were able to flash the stock firmware. Which version did you flash? Was it 6.01?

Okay. Here is the link for CF Autoroot (see below) that you need to flash through Odin in the AP slot. Scroll down the page and find SM-G920F. There is a download link over to the right side of the page. This is the easiest way to root your device.

Now, for a custom recovery. There are 2 ways to install TWRP.
1) You can download TWRP Manager from the Play Store and let it install TWRP for you or...
2) You can download the TWRP TAR file and flash it through Odin. Here is the download link to TWRP for Odin. I recommend the Odin installation. You already have Odin open and it's super easy.

Select the latest version which is this:
twrp-3.0.2-1-zeroflte.img.tar
These steps will get you rooted with a custom recovery installed. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.
Cheers fast!
Can you help me with installing the correct firmware for Xposed?
Thanks
Some reason after flashing twrp its going to the android recovery still.

If it boots to stock recovery then the stock rom is replacing TWRP with the stock recovery. Once you are able to boot to TWRP it will patch the stock ROM. Since you are rooted, download TWRP Manager from the Play Store and install recovery that way and once it says it's installed it will ask you if you'd like to boot to TWRP recovery. Lemme look at the Xposed info and I'll post back shortly. Lemme know what happens with the recovery install.

Since you are running a stock 6.0.1 TouchWiz rom I would use this modified Xposed version by @wanam. Here is a link to his thread with instructions and download links.

What other issues are you having right now besides recovery?
