You can install greenify, or try calibrating your battery, there's a millions guides how to do it with or without root. Personally I'd move to a custom Rom if you like as close to stock as possible try OdexLite. But to start with try greenify and naptime both available from Google play and again calibrating battery could make a difference.

What kind of applications you have in the background that drains your battery?
You can have at most 5 hours, maybe 6, of screen on time depands what you do.

What make you conclude it's the kernel.
And what have you done yesterday or the day before this problem started?
Hi,
I dont remember what i have done before the problem began,
but i downloaded apps that told me that was the kernel.
How can i root him??and unblock?

I doubt it's the kernel.
Please post battery stats screenshot after drain(from 100% full).
also install Wakelock Detector and see what keep the CPU/screen awake.
Use phantom kernel it automatically root's the device and it Save's battery too.!!

Hello,
I got a used Droid Razr Xt912 (Verizon version) 4 days ago. Android 4.1.2 was pre-installed on it with lots of Verizon Bloatware. So to get rid of it I decided to root it right away. As I am new to rooting I read few tutorials and downloaded Droid Razr Utility. I flashed Offiicial JB firmware and wiped all the Data. It completed successfully. Then I tried to root the phone by using Razr Blade 4.1 Root Exploit by djrbliss.
After completing these steps , I restarted the phone . But when I checked with Root Checker I found out that phone was not rooted successfully. And SuperUser app is not there.
Anyhow the phone is working properly but I am getting horrible battery life. On full charge with wifi, data, and GPS off and lowest brightness the battery drains in 8-10 hours. With moderate use battery isn't even lasting 4 hours.
I never had a chance to test the battery life prior to flashing. So I am not really sure what is happening.
Here is what I am getting in my phone about menu:
98.72.16 XT912 Verizon.en.Us
Android version 4.1.2
Any help on what could be cause of it and how to solve this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Ahmar
I've had great success with Matt's utility, which can be found here on the xda-developers website. That should get you rooted successfully and improve your battery. Good luck!

I have installed mokee KK 4.4.4 rom. So far battery life is far better than previous stock rom.
There has been a significant improvment

I've rooted several phones, and installed a few custom roms. My question is regarding the S5 and battery life when rooted. In past phones, I've noted that battery life varies greatly upon root. I'm not looking for a custom rom this time around, and I'm wondering how all of you have found your battery life to be after you've rooted? Have you noticed significant drops? Is it better? Worse?
Thanks!

Rooting itself won't make any difference. But after you root you can get rid of the bloat which helps cut down on the wake-locks (that when software pulls the phone out of deep sleep to do something) and frees up memory so that will help with battery life. That's one of the most prominent reasons for rooting in the first place. And then you can load a custom rom that is basically stock but with a lot of tweaks to help with battery life and stability.
Have Fun!

Can system apps be removed even without a custom ROM? My HTC One would allow me to do that with odex system files. Some phones need a custom ROM that's deodexed and write permission to allow changes. If not when you remove an app it comes back after boot.
Anyone know?

You can remove any app you wish on stock "rooted" rom......
Use Rom ToolBox from the Play Store

The Sickness is correct, after you root, there are several app managers that allow you to remove apps, or, if you don't want to totally remove them you can just install Titanium Backup and freeze the app so it doesn't cause problems and then just unfreeze it if you actually need it.
Good Luck!

Since the update on Saturday I can't get more than 2 hours SOT,before the update (lollipop) I used to get 3-3.5 sometimes 4. Same exact apps, settings (Wi-Fi on when home off when not, mobile data on when not on Wi-Fi auto switch enabled,GPS on all the time with little GPS usage mainly google location services being used ,everything "optimized". I'm really lost here. If anyone can tell me their experiences before and after the update that would be great with setting changes if available. NOTE: I'M NOT ROOTED (PURE STOCK).
Anyone?

My suggestion would be to try this.
1. Root your device and S off.
2. Flash a custom Rom
3.profit.

You don't need s-off to flash custom rom or root.
Unlock bootloader, flash twrp recovery, flash custom rom, root (No need for s-off in all that)
And as @Deathmeter said, no improvement in battery life with custom rom or root

There is a new kernel in the sprint Android development section(I use it on badboyz ROM)... with a few tweaks from flars kernel app I use, battery life has improved for me.
