I have a bip, and see that when you record an activity (such as walking, running...), it records an altitude profile, too. I am not sure if this is done via the barometer that the device allegedly has, or via the GPS profile and the altitude information in Google maps, though. Other than that, there is no indication how the barometer can be used.

I don't know if it is the same in the bip but in the pace, when you are in the compass, if you touch the screen it shows latitude, longitude, altitude and air pressure.

No, on the bip the compass is only a compass - nothing extra happens when you touch the screen.

I ask because mine says up to date, but is 0.0.9.40??

[Q] Strava Running/cycling app supports Gear Fit

Hello!
I read today that Strava Running/Cycling app now supports Gear Fit, and today they have released an update that fixes some problems with Gear Fit.
Has anyone tried Strava and Gear Fit together? You need a premium subscription to get heart rate working, and I'm concidering a premium subscription if anyone can confirm that heart rate is recorded when using Strava.
Thank you for answers!

I think the app connects automatic if you check the option in app connection section. But you have to have a premium subscription to register the heart rate - as far as I have understood.
It works! Even with the free version.Nice!
You can start stop via the Fit. Great potential.
Hope now for runtastic and others.

I can get it to work with free version of strava but cannot get the heart rate, do you able to get heart rate on free version of strava?
I am considering get the premium version if anyone confirm it is able to get heart rate from gear fit.
Thanks
Siong
Indeed it works with free version of strava, without HR monitoring. You can start / stop new session from the fit, and see several details (speed, distance...)
Same question here : anyone knows whether HR monitoring works with the premium version?
also on gear 2?
Is this only possible with gear fit or also with Gear 2 (neo)?
I can't find any strava option in my gear manager for gear 2 neo.
It looks Strava is similar with Gear Fit Manager. Why do we need to bother one more app?

Thanks for your response. Let me see if it fits to me.
Just received response back from Strava Support that Strava not able to read HR data in GearFIT SDK at the moment , even on Strava Premium. Hope Samsung will open it up soon on the GearFIT SDK.
Below is the response I received:
"
Hello,
Sorry about that. Currently, the GearFIT SDK does not allow us to read HR data, but maybe it will in the future. Please accept my sincere apologies and I hope you have a wonderful day.
Cheers,
Rudolph

"
I work for Strava and was part of the Gear Fit & Gear2 implementation. In our next Play release the Fit support is a little cleaner, a couple bugs fixed, etc... We did the best we could in a limited amount of time. Anyhow, if there are any other questions or comments, I'm happy to answer the best I can.
With regards to the internal HR sensor, I'd suggest checking out this review http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/04/pinnacle-samsungs-activity.html
also...
Not quite advertised yet but the new Gear devices also support really real time segments. Right now the Apps & Apps+ Pebble do audio announcements at 0%, 50% & 100%. The Gear watches give you updates as soon as your device knows 0-100% w/ your time against your PR. We did this in Glass too. (Disclaimer: Starred segments & premium users only)
Thanks for the explanation.
Btw. have you asked Samsung about the accesibility of HR sensor data ?
It´s really weird if they allow it on Gear 2 for 3rd party apps, but not on Gear Fit .....
I'm using a gear fit with strava, it's great getting the real time segment performance.
Star the segments you're interested in for best results.
Took a bunch of time off my PRs as a result.

Yeah, I think in time access will come for the Fit. Gear2 just had a little head start in terms of dev from what I can tell.
Fit was clearly rushed out when it wasn't ready in order to get out with the Gear 2 and S5.
Installed Strava on my Samsung Device. It also shows up in the app-connection on my fit. But how to start a new session directly from my fit? Or do i have to carry my phone with me all the time while running and start the session from my phone?

However, this is not true, as Gear 2 owner I can tell Strava app on Gear 2 doesn't provide access to HR data from the watch (you can only use some sensors supported by the phone app itself). Care to comment?

That's true, we don't support HR values from the Gear 2 at the moment. When I wrote that our Gear2 app did, but by the time the app got out of QA into the store it was disabled*. SDK access wise to HR sensor though. Gear2 yes, Gear Fit no.
*would be easy to enable with a tiny bit of exploring.

That's OK mate, HR sensor on Gear 2 is a piece of crap anyway. The reason why I don't use Strava is because is doesn't support the kind of chest-strapped BT LE HRM I have (right now it supports only Orion or something like this). Until it does, I'll stick to MapMyRun or Runtastic.

As of Sept 2017, do the benefits for the PACEfied ROM outweigh the stock (1.3.3a) ROM

This is for the North American/English version of the Amazfit Pace.
I am expecting to receive the watch in the next two weeks and I am unsure if I should root/unlock bootloader and flash the 1.2.37 PACEfied ROM or entrust Huami into fixing all the kinks with their (hopefully) regular updates. This is assuming that updating to the latest version locks the bootloader irreversibly as I'm currently informed.
What benefits does PACEfied offer that aren't available to 1.3.3a at the moment?
Thanks in advance
updated GPS firmware, auto-pause on activities, Mi Home support, music control from your watch ( early beta stage ).
regarding your concern for the irreversible process of the unlock, you CAN unlock the watch, with the new bootloader.

Did you try restarting the watch before recording an activity? Pace has a problem where the altitude gets "stuck" after an activity, restarting the watch fixes it. Or disable/enable 3D data on Stratos, it may help too.

I made a test today with the compass app where you can see the altitude. It takes long to get a GPS signal and the altitude was jumping +- 50m. I thought maybe it is because it does not have up to date agps information. I read somewhere to sync them via the app update but I was not able to sync them. Maybe that is the problem. A friend of mine has an iPhone (me MI6) with the stratos where the altitude works flawlessly.

Need a favor.. dual frequency GPS test.

Hello!!
I'm looking at the unlocked UK version on Clove, and was hoping I could have one of you test to see if the zoom really suppprts the new GNSS tech.

The app to use is GPS test by barbeauDev.

Thanks for posting, and thanks for downloading that app. However, that's not the app I am looking for info on. It's also called GPS test, but in the play store it should show up as one word.. GPStest. It's created by barbeauDev.
If you could download that one and snap a sreenshot after letting it run 30 seconds or so that'd be awesome!

Well, the App I downloaded is called GPSTest and it is from barbeauDev. It's exactly the App you asked to be downloaded.
As you can see it on the screenshot, it is using GNSS and it is actually using four different systems (GPS, Glonass, Galileo, BeiDou) to determine it's position.
All symbols with a thick black frame are used in that sample.
I use the phone for navigation every day and although it is sitting in the car on the center console below the belt line, it still has no problem navigating.
I guess you have been looking for the L5/E5a signals in the carrier frequencies. Just to reassure you, here is an image which shows that the Reno 10x can receive these signals:

Stratos 3 altitude workout report on amazfit app

Hello,
i'm facing a strange issue since 4.2.3 firmware (same with 4.2.4):
the workout report on the wtch is good (altitude is ok) but on amazfit app it begins at -20000m for 20/30 secondes then a drop to the good one after.
check my picture it is unreadable.
sometime the preview is good but if i click on + to get details i have the same begin at -20000m for 20s.
do you have the same?
i also noticed during a workout if the watch is unlocked i have an altitude (230m for ex) then when the screen locks i have another one (240m) then if i unlock the watch again it's back to 230m... there's always differences depending on the screen state
the report on the watch is good. Only in amazApp seems faulty (for Altitude) all other logs are OK but i can not decripte my workout altitude...
Do you have those bugs?
I have the same issue with the Amazfit app and the altitude with Stratos 3. I also own the Notify & Fitness app and there the altitude graph seems pretty accurate 100% of times.
I also notice the wrong value only happens sometimes and depending with the sport I did on my watch.
thanks for the reply.
What i've notice also is that in Ultra Mode there is no pbs
i've sent diag to the support they told me they give them to developpment team.
Hope they'll fix this in next FW /AmazfitApp.
I have the same issue. It is a bug on the Amazfit app graph. See attached the same workout synced to Amazfit/Stava/Endomondo/Stratos

yeah but there's another bug: on your watch the elevation is begin at 16m up to 24m and ends at 2...
on strava/endomondo/amazapp the highest is 2m and lowest -17m ?????? and you begin at -5 m?
i have the exactly the same differences between wath the watch says and what is synched.... (anyway data of the watch are always good)
Big synchronization bug i think
Yes I didn't pay attention to the actual numbers. There is indeed a constant shift in the exported values. The height values from the watch look more correct as there is only one area below sea level in town and I didn't run there
Hi Guys,
I have exactly the same bug on my Stratos 3. I have been able to compare and :
> Datas shown on the watch during the activity are OK
> Datas shown on the watch report (after activity) are OK
> Datas on the Amazfit App are wrong : Elevation is different from the watch (usually lower than the reality, compared with a "level line map"), and I have the "-20000" problem on the graph
> Datas exported to Strava are wrong
I send almost everyday the reports to Amazfit using the app, I hope they will fix this very annoying issue !
I need to try in the Ultra Mode to be able to compare. However accuracy of the GPS will be much less (1 point per minute vs 1 point per second using normal mode)
