TL; DR - explanation of issue; can you sideload TWRP via ADB?
I have a busted Galaxy S6 that won’t allow me access to do anything easier or more practical. My first thought was to root the phone to get inside that way, pull off the stuff I (well, really my mom - this is hers) want, and be done with it.
I originally tried flashing OJ9. This was successful but the phone became stuck in a boot loop. I tried to flash stock firmware but got a few different Odin error messages depending on the fixes I tried:
- first NAND write start (complete operation failed), this was when trying to flash TWRP
- then one suggesting there was a PIT issue - I don’t remember the exact message but it’s written down. This was when flashing stock ROM
- then back to the NAND crap when I tried to flash TWRP again.
We tried a factory reset, thinking it might be tricked into letting us in that way (I tried to flash the stock ROM again after that too). We have wiped the cache.
The most we can do is get it to the stock recovery screen. My thought now is to try to sideload TWRP through ADB, since the only time my computer recognizes the phone as a device is during this part. Is this even possible? I can’t find zip files for TWRP.

While I did find a similar posts, they were for different devices. I also tryed to search o different sites for similar problems to no avial.
What Happened: After backing up system data and app data then removing Foxhound ROM with factory reset, and installing UltimaROM i came to find that the modem did not install correctly result in no connection to my cell network. I booted into TWRP recovery to try and do a re-install of the ROM only to find that TWRP was restarting itself every 3 seconds or so. I attempted to restart the device which i found to result in a TWRP bootloop that i cannot get out of, it constantly is booting into recovery mode and i cannot get it restart the OS.
What I've tried: Since i can get into download mode i decided to attempt to re-install TWRP using Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit but since i do not have USB debugging on i cannot do that. I'm mainly looking for a fix before i go and claim it on the warranty saying update went bad or something. If people need more information I will try to provide it as best i can.
Summery if i confused people is that TWRP is in a bootloop, i am unable to get to the OS, but i still have download mode available.
I fixed it but not how I would have liked to. I ended up losing all data due to flashing stock ROM using ODIN. I would still much appreciate a alternative method that does not involve loss of data though just for future reference, that is if anyone knows a alternative method.

could've tried reflashing TWRP or any other recovery through odin
I have an LG Optimus Q (LGL55c) with twrp loop. I was trying to go back to stock rom, instead I deleted all the system files in twrp when it was working...Then I rebooted back into recovery and get the loop. Does this mean I completely bricked my phone? I tried using adb, adb shell doesn't work. It does find the device. Even tried the LG update with no sucess Any ideas or suggestions?
I just read the forum title, I thought this was for the Optimus Q not the Samsung S3. Sorry mods
Temasek unofficial cm12 5.02
I was running this rom when my power button shorted and I got it replaced but then I tried to do a complete wipe and clean flash but since then it has been twrp bootlooping, tried to flash the latest recovery through Odin but still doesn't work also tried stock firmware flash but says binary not available.
This is my secondary device and I've not been in touch with Odin for a while. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Download latest firnware from sammobile.com and flash it with Odin, as described on sammobile: does Odin finish with '1 succeeded'?
I'm in a very similar situation, but with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (N7105). It's rooted, and I am, or was using TWRP 2.7.0.2. ROM is CyanogenMod 12, 5.0.2 Lollipop.
I did a factory reset from INSIDE Android, and chose to wipe internal memory. Phone did the reset and wipe, rebooted into TWRP instead of Android, and now I have TWRP boot loop.
I posted more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60247503&postcount=3671
I have the Problem toooo!
What must i do Now!
with my S3 is the same!!!
For posterity:
With an old (2014?) version of TWRP and a custom ROM, I tried reverting to factory settings. That caused the phone to reboot TWRP, and the screen would flash every couple of seconds. I flashed a stock recovery image I found on Google, and when it restarted again, the wipe was completed successfully. My intention was to wipe all user data anyways so I can't say if this method might save it.
Hi, so I've been flashing for a while now on my phone and my friend wanted to root his phone so i agreed to help him out. After flashing multiple files in order to get cwm recovery and just get everything working, the phone started to act up.
Here are the problems:
Phone can boot into stock recovery but i cant flash anything from it
i wiped data/factory reset many times.
i tried to install the cwm kernal by applying update from sd card (I followed the install custom recovery instructions from here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i777) but when into recovery to flash, 2 red signs come up saying "E: Failed to verify whole-file signature" and "E: signature verificatoin failed" after this is just aborts the process
i tried download mode, but none of my computers recocgnize the phone (2 computers) i have tried all usb ports, reinstalling usb drivers, different usb ports many times but all have failed
if i try to boot, the phone just stays stuck on the Samsung galaxy s2 logo (no triangle? even though its rooted)
my only option is to hang out in recovery, i have a bunch of files saved to an external sd card but i cannot access that from stock recovery
any help would be appreciated, Thanks
You can not install any unsigned files with stock 3e recovery, as you have discovered. That is normal behavior.
I don't know why performing a wipe data/factory reset from 3e recovery does not clear the phone to boot normally. It should. But since it won't...
You will need to get the phone recognized by a computer, and then flash with Odin, or you could try flashing with Heimdall command line. I would suggest that you flash the full stock plus root I777UCKH7 (2.3.4), and then when it boots normally into the system, install Mobile Odin Lite or Mobile Odin Pro, and use that to flash a custom kernel. You can find the stock firmware in the Download Repository, and the basic directions in my guide, both of which are linked in my signature.

The hardest part about this is getting my computers to recognize the phone
i guess i shouldve mentioned this earlier, i attempted to flash in Odin but it was stuck on zImage so i unplugged it
before i flashed in odin, i used to be able to boot into the phone like touchwiz and whatnot, now it just gets stuck on the samsung galaxy s ii boot logo
This is now [Solved}! thanks for the help creepyncrawly! i figured it out after doing some more reasearch online. apparently, youre not supposed to use the charger wire that came with the device since samsung doesnt want to waste their time on creating a good enough cable for this kind of stuff. so i grabbed some random cable that i found in my house, hooked it up and BAM! both of my computers were able to detect my phone just finished flashing bone stock on the phone thanks
I noticed in your post that you tried everything but another cable. But I'm glad you got it working. I had the same problem before too. Cables are finicky little things.

Hello all,
I want to give my friend my Galaxy Note. Due to this, I attempted to do a factory reset from the settings menu, but it would reboot to TWRP instead and get locked in a boot screen. I tried flashing a third-party ROM (CM), but stupidly forgot to wipe the device since I thought I had done it before, resulting in it hanging at the boot animation. Could someone point me to the right direction on how to restore the device to Stock using a tool like Odin? Thanks.
P.S. Does anyone know how to get into TWRP? I can't seem to find a key combination, I have to do it from the TWRP application (yet I can't access the application).
UPDATE: I have managed to get into TWRP, however restoring fails, as it goes back to the TWRP logo. Wipe also does not work.
Solved, what I did was flash a recovery via Odin, which resulted in an error. Kies detected it since it had an error, so it was able to be restored.
I assume my NAND rw is corrupted and would like to confirm that and get recommendations what to flash now.
Here's what happened:
Been running Resurrection Lollipop for a while successfully until Play Services started force closing loads. Upgraded to CM13 hoping it would resolve it, it didn't. Ended up with Cyanogen Recovery that came with CM13, which didn't allow me to flash any other rom ('installation failed'). Tried flashing CWM Touch Recovery 5.8x with Odin, which got stuck at Open NAND, had to close Odin eventually and the phone is now giving the Samsung recovery error (Firmware error encountered...). Kies won't recognize it despite driver reinstall, Kies' recovery function doesn't list it. When trying to flash the CWM Recovery i'm getting a NAND write error. I found an old thread on this issue on GB/ICS, but not sure if their steps apply to LP/MM, let alone which files to use now.
Thank you all in advance for being helpful!

Flash stock 4.1.2 with Odin. If odin flash will be succesfull , phone should end in Samsung animation bootloop. If it haleens , take out battery , go to recovery , select wipe data/factory reset and viola. Your phone should be working.
Hello all,
Recently I bought the S8 Plus and I want to sell my S6 Edge, so I wanted to clean it first before actually selling it.
I rooted my phone before, I can't remember how or what software I used, I have a feeling it was Odin,
anyway, I cleaned up my phone by doing a factory reset from within Android's settings.
Since that moment, my phone is stuck in TWRP's Recovery mode.
I have multiple stock roms, but Odin is not able to make a connection with the phone, because I can't get into boot mode.
I've also read things about ADB Sideload, but that freezes up my phone.
Then I read about some command line to type in via the terminal, but that didn't work either.
Also trying to install stuck roms didn't do anything.
Does anyone have an idea how I can get my phone back into bootmode so I can load up Odin and put a stock rom on it?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Boot to Download from TWRP Recovery (Reboot - select - Download)
Fire-up Odin, flash one of your multiple stock roms.

That doesn't work either.
If I select Download, my phones freezes up.
Update:
I managed to update TWRP, making me able to go back to Download mode!
But, once I tried Odin to flash a stock rom, it failed.
Also, my KNOX Warrenty Void is set '1'.
Am I still able to install any roms or get this KNOX fixed?

If you have a PC, use samsung smart switch to re-initialize your device.
And you can not do anything for tripped knox.
