Hello everybody,
I recently got a second hand xperia X, which came with 34.3.A.0.228. (7.1.1) first thing was unlock the bootloader following sony developer world. Everything went nice and smooth, but when I rebooted it does normally, but it freezes 20 sec after. Did not save DRM keys (huge mistake).
Following sony, I went to pcCompanion, and tried to restore the system. PcCompanion asked me to relock the bootloader, which I did with flashtool. then I restore teh system with pcCompanion, getting the version 34.3.A.0.238 installed
The phone continued freezing like it did before, but now the problem is that, I can't check 'debugging', 'oem unlock' and ' allow uknown sources'. Whichs leads me to the point, where I can dot nothing.
I've read several posts but, I do have to admit that after 8 years flashing androids (g1, magic, vision, lg g2) this is the first time I got lost.
Many thanks,
Rai
Just reflash it with flashtool.
I wanted to apolozyse for my poor english first. Flashtool ask me to 'allow unknown sources', 'oem unlok', on the phone. But I can't access the menu, because the phone gets into boot loop, right after flashing it with pcCompanion. So, for me that means, no flashtool can be used for that poupose.
Would, using adb, trying to flash recovery, with modified kernel, be helpful?
Many thanks,

If you are able to install twrp, then download any custom roms and try to install it.
Teach me To lock bootloader F5121 Please

Flash tool should still work if you boot in flash mode. If it doesnt then the phone is probably RIP.
---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:46 PM ----------
To clarify, you should be able to power off your device by holding down vol up + power. It will vibrate once, then 3 times. After the 3rd vibration the device is off. Then go to Flashtool, I recommend using one of the Marshmallow firmwares. Click flash, select your firmware. Once it drops back to the status messages hold your vol down button and connect your USB. If it's still not working make sure you have the USB driver also installed for flash mode. This may require you to re-install it or use one of the basic Google fastboot drivers. Good luck! Please let everyone know if you were able to fix it. Your DRM keys are probably lost forever though.

Yes indeed, I was able to install twrp 3.1 recovery, and flash Pexorom. Getting the same result: Phone boots, but freezes right after. No matter what I do, Pccompanion, emma, flashtool... I am always getting same result.
One thing that caught my eye, is that, if I flash the rom through recovery with no MD5sum verification, it finishes nice and smooth, although the phone does not work, however, if I check MD5sum verification, the flash stops at some point, giving an error.
I will dig into flashtool and drivers on Monday, I hope I did not went too further already by installing twrp, and it can be reversible.
All this headache started right after unlocking the bootloader, so maybe, there is something wrong with drivers or so, that damaged the phone. So far I have a Eur 200 brick on my desk.
Many thanks.
I just flashed the rom pexorom, with zip signature verification, and gives the following error: 'zip signature verification failed! Error installing zip file '/external_sd/pexorom v1.0.0.zip'
this is what I get, by flashig with twrp 3.1.0.
Could you recomend me a MM rom?
Thanks in advance.

Just untick zip verification tickbox while installing and tell us the results. Btw v4.0.0 is the newest one
if I untick verification code, the whole flashing process goes nice and smooth. but the result is an endless bootloop.
Hi,
I did the same thing, got a used xperia x and went straight to unlocking bootloader, etc. I did all the same things as you. I'm still stuck in this endless bootloop as well, where your last post ended. I've been doing this custom rom stuff for 5 years, never bricked anything.
Did you manage to get it working again? How did you do it?

Yesterday I installed this rom, version 146, it's amazing, very fast and got no Wifi bug (button disabled), everything working fine.
Spent all the day outside home, data connection worked perfect. Went home on the night, got the wifi, no problem.
So, tomorrow when I was going to work, I picked up the phone and there was no data connection, strange. So I restarted the phone, still no data. Tried to find the phone operator, I restarted again, nothing.
I restarted to recovery, fixed permissions, still no data.
No data at all, so I thought about doing some backup on the recovery and install another rom to check it, tried to backup, but there was no space on the phone, and the recovery does not let me choose the ext_card to backup.
So I started choosing some options and then the recovery crashed, it's stuck, with the text "no files found", it's stuck there. I'm unable to boot, to do anything.
I don't know how to remove the battery, so I'm really stuck.
Three things:
1) No data connection, is this a bug?
2) How do I remove the battery to restart?
3) Can I install another recovery? Like the munjeni one?
Please help

Btw, Why should I install the fresh stock rom?
---------- Post added at 09:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 AM ----------
Oh noes. I was able to enter the recovery using the power + volume up combination. So, I restored my last backup. The phone turned off. And does not turn on again.
I already tried the power + volume up combination. The phone simple respond with the first vibration, then the next three.... but does not restart, there's nothing on the screen. It's stuck again.

Flash a new stock ROM via Flashtool if you believe you need to. Use this link for stock Indian rom:

The easiest way (for me personally) to flash new rom is to use Flashtool, get it from here:

Thank, but the thing is... there's no connection the PC. Flashtool does not recognize the phone.
If I plug the usb cable the red light turn on, but the phone does not.
The only thing it does it's vibrate one time when I click the power button and four times when I press power + volume up.
Flashtool says: 12/049/2012 10:49:11 - INFO - Device disconnected

Thanks, I did that and it's fixed. I was able to install the FreeXperia rom again
The only problem that I found now it's that after installing the rom I went to install the munjeni kernel. Tried using it, but did not work
On boot there's one message saying that the android process stopped and the NFC too.... strange.
The message does not go away
I think I will need to flash the FreeXperia rom and stays with the default recovery

Then dont flash munjeni's kernel mate, flash boot.img from FXP and stay with that CWM. That way you wont get messages and will have working rom mate.

Yeah, I will do that, stay with the FXP kernel. The problem it's that the munjeni kernel has more options, like open the ext_card and save backups there..
FOTA
Does it support ota for example from FXP 145 to FXP 146?
Newest munjeni kernel it's incompatible with most of the custom rom and cause issues.

Which variant you have? P765 / P760 / P768 / P778? Which country rom you tried, etc.
Always provide all the information in first request so people will start thinking what might have happened? This phone is really bit difficult due to various variants and rom+hardware non-compatibilities.
Kevev just PM'ed me that myju figured out the problem. And I told him this in PM...May be this is not the case here, but this generally happens. He he he
@kevev, Do you know, when there is a silly question from noobs, leave it for some time without answering. And they get impatient and frustrated and they start reading the whole OP carefully and do things in right way. lolz experienced many a times and always worked. ha ha ha

You need to do the online recovery option with LG PC suite, put the phone in S/W upgrade mode. Turn off then plug in USB with 'Vol Up' held. Then use PC suite, and click on Recovery Phone Mode or something and it should flash full stock on your phone, you may have to format data if the phone doesn't boot after the update (Vol Down + Home + Power)

Hey thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help. I am unable to boot into S/W upgrade mode because the phone has no software on it, powers on to a black screen without a bootloader. I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me what I'd need to copy to the various partitions on the phone to get it back in working condition - at least enough to get it back to stock. I can get the phone to power on and boot into fastboot and I've played around trying to copy bootloaders and stuff to the phone but I must not be either doing it right or getting the right software for the correct phone. I accidently flashed the phone with the wrong software and through many mistakes ended up wiping all of the partitions on the phone...perhaps some kind person here might be able to provide the images i'd need and how to use fastboot to copy them to the phone, I'd truly appreciate the help as this is my only phone and been without it for a couple days (won't be trying to flash firmwares again if i can get the phone back up and working) much thanks

I noticed a thread on how to restore a Nexus 7 through fastboot, and was hoping a similar method would work for the LG but can't find an image of the phone that will work with fastboot
If you're talking about what I think you are, you need to fastboot flash u-boot, x-loader, and recovery via fastboot. You can't do system via fastboot because the file size it too big. I ran into that problem once by accidentally flashing wrong u-boot and then erasing all partitions out of frustration. I don't think recovery Idk 100% necessary as long as you can boot into s/w update mode, which I believe is intertwined somewhere in the u-boot or x-loader.
Once you get the phone to load inti s/w mode, you're set to flash kdz.

Hello,
I have recently made a horrible mistake, I flashed the incorrect ROM on my Xperia Z3v leaving the phone bricked. I am asking for your help. I have tried using the Flashtool but I am not certain if it's the phone or I that is causing a mistake. The steps thus far that I have followed.
Downloaded: Flashtool & Drivers
Installed: Drivers for Xperia Z3v
Downloaded: Firmware from XperiFirm
Now, the issue next is nothing shows up in my firmware when I attempt to flash. I have checked the source folder the .ftf files are there.
Furthermore:
When I hold VOL UP and plug in the USB>Blue led is indicated
When I hold VOL DOWN and plug in USB>Red flashes with a second of green whilst vibrating
Found this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtaUxuorVSA
Exactly like this, checked for a solution seems like he repaired it via sony. Unfortunately for me I don't have that luxury.
**Update**
I installed the lastest release of flashtool (0.9.22.2) but it occurred to me to revert back to the previous release (0.9.18.6)
Now I can finally see the firmware but I am still having issues actually flashing the file. I get errors such as:
ERROR - root : this bundle is not valid
ERROR - Cannot delete C:\Users\Juan\.flashTool\firmwares\prepared\userdata.sin
**More Information**
I should include I am on a locked bootloader
same
that seem the same with my situation
Okay the green light is flash mode / upgrade mode. The blue light is fast boot. You want it on with the green light on to flash it once it's bricked. You can't flash it using fast boot mode because the boot loader isn't unlocked.
Now what you have to do is get it with the green light on and then the drivers installed.
Can't delete the file means that it had error while trying to flash and all that you have to do is restart the app and that goes away.
Now for the next problem is that I had this one and what I did to fix it is that I had to reinstall the drivers because those weren't correct and I did reinstalled it and it all worked good. Thanks.
Download the correct firmware for your phone (model and Country).
Use flashtool to install it on your phone
Works with a locked bootloader, no need for USB debugging.
The first error might be you ended up downloading the incorrect or incomplete firmware
I had the exact problem that you are having. I ended re downloading the flashtool a few times from various computers and then i got it to work. I figured when i downloaded it the first time i had a version that was to old/new. Or a bad connectiin when i downloaded it first time. After i downloaded flashtool again itthwn worked without issue just as it should. Whatever the provlem was for me was having to do with the download or version i downloaded wouldnt work completely. I think my internet connection when i downloaded it wasnt very good and maybe didnt download it right.
I made the same mistake too, trying to flash a z3 zip file. Then I got to run around my home city to find help. Then there's a guy. He had to open the back cover and connect directly to the circuit board in order to do something about the eMMC and SEtool or... something, I'm not sure. The phone is alive again! (costed quite a lot for a student, but... yay?). Funny though, he said the circuit board is similar to a z2 and not a z3. Maybe you could find someone who knows about these kinds of thing. Hope that help.

Yeah, I think? I mean, it's right out of the box. Also, I think it's worth mentioning that the guy had to use SEtool twice to get mobile signal.
Did you fix the problem? I have the same problem now.
With a Z3v. D6708. I have a problem, got a wrong ROM, the flashee and now not start the phone in any way. The only way to start is "System Recovery" volume + power, which has 4 options: 1. "Continue Power UP", 2. "Safe mode", 3. "Factory Reset" and 4. "Power Down". The thing is try from flashtool but when I give "volume down" and connect the computer does not recognize. When light it even reaches the boot animation. When I give power with USB cable is connected in a loop is vibrating and shows red, blue and green.
I have exactly the same problem of the youtube video.
As it could fix the problem?

The phone is not and most likely never will be bootloader unlocked. Planning to buy for another phone is your only option.
I've already moved to a tmo note 4. Not much development there either, but it's nice. Miss the z seires though and may come back to it next year. We'll see how they fair with phones for the next few months state side abs if prices even out on the x or z5.

Unless you're going to post a link or YouTube video we all have access to, wouldn't bother asking people for direct email addresses to send them. That's the reason for PM'S and the forum on general. If you have a fix, we'd all like to know what it is you were able to do that none of us have figured out.

Ok guys so I have a Sony Xperia Z Ultra and I decided to install Marshmallow 6.0 on it (which wasn't released for my phone). I downloaded the boot, cache, system and userdata imgs of Marshmallow 6.0 and installed them using fastboot, then I was supposed to boot in recovery mode and wipe the caches and do a reset, before installing the G-apps zip file and completing the entire process. So I tried to start recovery mode which I had previously installed already and it failed, starting in safe mode instead. Then I re-installed the recovery using a batch file in a directory downloaded from NUT's XDA Developers download site, which failed on the first try. So I tried again and it was installed, meaning my phone will automatically reboot into recovery right after it was done. My phone rebooted but my screen remained black and nothing happened. I tried holding down the power button and it vibrated but nothing happened again. I tried holding down the power and volume down button for 30sec and more, tried it with the volume up button too and it didn't work. I tried connecting my phone to the pc but it won't recognize it (of course) and I tried holding the volume up button upon connecting to enter fastboot but that failed as well. Now it's stuck like this and I'm hoping its battery drains out and it powers off. Help.
Update: I went to sleep and now that I've woken up, the screen is still going with the low battery red light. I don't know for how long it will continue, but the problem remains.
Update: Now my pc recognizes it but all adb commands have no effect.

you should give some info... like what rom youre using. also use twrp 3.x with mm
you cant expect help without telling the error messages you get...
you can always power off your phone with holding vol down + power for 30sec

YEAH ok here's my issue. NO MATTER WHAT recovery I install (through the app or fastboot) IT DOES NOT WORK. Any earlier version of TWRP, it will boot into, but the screen is unresponsive, while the latest version of TWRP simply acts like it isn't there as the phone never boots into recovery, this has been happening on MM and now it's happening on my latest stock. After the failed MM attempts I've downloaded the latest C6833 stock and everything is fine, but I'd like to be able to install custom roms like everyone else. It took me a day or two to learn how to actually do that, but I still have no idea why NO recovery works for me. My device is rooted, bootloader unlocked, all that crap. I tried many kernel links on your site, especially that main one that the mod posted, but the links are dead. Help.

there is other way to enter twrp 3.0.2 with new bootloader, power + vol down (instead of up!)
read op of twrp thread and follow instructions carefully and it'll work. also for the twrp i build you must be on a rom which uses sony aosp device tree (like aicp). otherwise i wont guarantee that it will work.

I tried holding the button down like you said, tried rebooting to recovery from TWRP manager itself, with root access granted of course. Nothing. Can you link the post or something? However I don't think anything in it will fix my issue.
Sounds like you flashed a recovery for another model. I had this issue with a ROM awhile back.
Didn't read the walls of text.
I recommend using you flashtool and flashing a stock ftf. Re-root, recovery and flash again.

Edit. Read somethings. There are plenty of ROMs on xda do not flash the old way which is part by part. Flash the most recent Sony firmware, and you should be able to flash MM ROMs.
I have copy's of the recovery if needed.
I did flash the latest FTF using the flash tool, but I need a working recovery in order to install the gapps and still no recovery works on my device.

Hi all,
First time poster and honestly, a complete noob re: rooting. I tried once before with a BLU device I had, but had driver issues and just gave up.
Anyway, looking to remove a bunch of bloat from my Tab E that I barely use....... just fired it up today for the first time in months and saw an update to 7.1.1
All of my Google searching links me to this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-official-twrp-gteslte-galaxy-t3419219
My concerns/problems are ....
1. Do I just pick the latest '.tar' file?
2. At no point does the guide actually say when to connect the device to the computer
3. I should be able to maintain my LTE connection after rooting, I assume?
4. I can't seem to get into "download mode", I got into "safe mode" somehow by mistake, but when following the suggestions here:
http://techbeasts.com/how-to-boot-samsung-galaxy-devices-in-download-recovery-mode/
To access "download mode", I get some life.... followed by an increasingly green circle. Get's to 66% with a flashing white circle, and then nothing happens.
5. Even if I could get into "download mode", it says to Hold [Volume Up] + [Home] buttons near the end of the flash, and keep holding them until you are in recovery. but Odin doesn't appear to be overly user-friendly as far as knowing when the end of the flash would be? Haven't got that far though, so mere speculation on my part.
I'm really lost at this point.... can anybody give me any pointers?
****EDIT*** So, I went ahead and tried again - turns out I was able to get it all done...... problem was the instructions didn't quite relate the my Tab E? Power+Vol Down+Home was needed to get into download mode, and Power+VolUp+Home was needed for Recovery.
Funny though, after confirming TWRP and following the reboot promps, device still didn't appear to be rooted. Tried again and "Root Checker" says it's not..... but NOBloat is not prompting me I'm not rooted, when previously it stated the device wasn't rooted? AND, I have SuperSU installed?
Easily done if you follow the rooting guide for the 6.0.1 ... anyway, here's how.
Download Odin (version 10.12.x) and then download TWRP into the same folder:
https://dl.twrp.me/gteslte/twrp-3.2.0-0-gteslte.img.tar.html
Now donwload Super User: https://download.chainfire.eu/1220/SuperSU/SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip?retrieve_file=1
Run Odin (preferred in Admin mode) and load : twrp-3.2.0-0-gteslte.img.tar into the AP.
Put your Tablet into Download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power and then Vol Up), connect to your PC and Hit Start on Odin.
Wait for it to fully reboot and Power it Off, now reboot into Recovery mode (Vol Up + Home + Power), once in TWRP, copy Super User file into the Download folder of your Tablet, select Install from TWRP and install Super User. Reboot and enjoy Root
Using updated Odin (3.13.1) to root Tab E SM-T377W
As this post is somewhat dated, would the most recent Odin version (3.13.1) be appropriate?
I have the same Tab E (SM-T377W) running 7.1.1.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Reid.
Any suggestions how to root 7.1.1 ?

Root is possible. On firmware version: T377WVLU2BQI6, I just flashed this
TWRP-3.2.3-0-gteslte.img.tar (PM if you need a link. I uploaded it on my drive)
Then flashed magisk through TWRP yesterday.
Couple of notes though. Once you fllash TWRP with Odin, even with auto reboot ticked off, the device WILL STILL reboot. Once this happens, if you're not holding pwr, vol+, & home buttons, the custom recovery will be replaced back to stock. And as always, ensure drivers installed and debugging and OEM unlock is on.

Usually when I flash, I found it's best to use which version of Odin was released at the time the device was. For instance, if I wanted to flash an S7, I'd probably use Odin 3.10. This is only AFTER I've tried my go to Odin version - Prince Comsey. I find it works 90% of the time though. This of course excludes any devices running stock Oreo or Pie. Where it's mandatory to have the latest version of Odin.

Whenever i flash TWRP i get the message that FRP is locked (green color) and odin never pass, i have tried many times to install TWRP but its locked
Which firmware version do you have on the tablet?? Like, is there a 3 or 2 prior to the B?? I think it's the forth from the end
For example: T377WVLU '2' BQI6 or do you have the 3rd Bootloader?

Firmware SM-T377W T377WVLU3BRG4 [7.1.1]
halp
I've been trying to use this thread and several others as a guide to root my galaxy tab E version sm-t377wVLU3BRG4 running android 7.1.1. I've been trying to root the tablet for 3 days including one click rooting applications both on and off pc.
I can't even get TWRP installed, I've tried using odin to flash it but when it reboots and I'm supposed hold volume up and home to boot into recovery mode it just keeps booting. I don't understand if I'm doing something wrong. Also half the guides I've read have had most of the files removed so I've just googled another guide
@Helium Iz Ninja
Probably your attempt flashing TWRP miserably failed for whatever reason.
BTW: How to install TWRP using ODIN is explained here.
If you have phone's Stock ROM at your fingertips, then re-flash this to bring back phone to its original state.
