After update I cannot turn off the phone anymore!!
When I long press the "on" button...nothing happens...and when I release it it switches off the screen.
I don't get anymore the off-airplane mode-restart menu.
Am I the only one??

Odd indeed. Did you do a backup from Recovery first?
OTA's do that...why trust "the man"?
\Honestly, read what the devs are doing and DO NOT trust the carriers.
I havent..I was not expecting that. Anyway...is just annoying few times. I don't restart many times my phone.

and....it's back! The menu appeared back when around 1.30 pm of the day after the update...I was checking the wireless settings...and I got a pop-up saying: You have succesful completed the update ti 1.3... .6.
At that point the menu was back working.
My only thoughts are...I have taken off the battery after it restarted after the update..I have switched on the phone..used it for half a day...and the update was not complete?!?!
This is one of the strange things I don't get of Android (or HTC)
...and it's gone away again...
I haven't done anything...I want my switch off button back
I will try to reset before rooting etc... Am I the only one who had this problem??

No..I am not.
I will root today or in the following days. I was not rooting since I was checking out the battery life problem.
I just did the update OTA from HTC.
wow that's strange I did the update and i still have those functions
There was a post somewhere else (this forum) about this...
the answer that fixed it for me was to enable "Use Secure Credentials" (Settings->Security)
It may be that you have to turn fast boot on, too (Settings->Power)
Hate to suggest it... but I would probably try reflashing the firmware with an RUU if you don't want or need root access.

Look up xboarder's 5.0.2.0 recovery.
Supposedly the problem was fixed.
Sorry I can't give you the link at the moment but I believe it's in the sticky.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Even around the same time yesterday. I installed the update the night before and thought it was fine. Noticed the next day my power off option was gone. Got the same popup out of nowhere and all of the sudden it's fine again.
Very odd.

that worked for me
I recently switched from LG G2x to this new HTC Amaze 4G.
I got tired of the bland O/S and decided to make a drastic change over to the O/S that is full of crazy bloatware.
Ok whatever I can deal with it....
In the first day that I bought the phone (2 weeks ago) I decided to check for updates. Surely enough, there were updates for HTC (NOT ANDROID) .... So I decided to update...
I updated the phone and everything seemed fine, seemed as if nothing has changed. A few hours later I started seeing my phone go sluggish, normally when this happens on any Android device I choose to just shut the phone down and turn it back on.
I long press the power button and nothing happens.
WTF?
I short press and it shuts my screen off.
I panic and take my phone back to T-Mobile the next day.
They gave me a new one.
So up until today, I have not updated because of my fear of having to factory reset on my phone.
(Like they did on the first one at the store)
Surely enough, my power button is GONE AGAIN!
WTF HTC!?!?!?!?!
I did backup my phone before updating.......
BUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET AROUND THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT HAVING TO RESTORE MY PHONE?????
Has anyone else had this problem!???
I am so frikin pissed!
first of all, is your phone completely stock? second, did you try a basic phone restart/battery pull?
Htc amaze doesnt support the long press to power down your phone.

us people are talking about those people whose power button options do not come up. good to know yours come up though.
That happened to me on a few ROMs. I used Extended Controls Widget and made a restart button. You have to remove the battery instead. You can also install NRG's ROM. I never had that anymore.

You are absolutely wrong about that. Long press is suppose to make a menu come up and ask whether you want to restart, shut down, or go into airplane mode.... Are you telling me that your power button does not do long press???? If so, then you probably are going through the same thing as me.
My phone occasionally doesn't get locked automatically. Whenever I receive a message or notification, the screen would come up but doesn't go back into sleep mode after certain time. It just stays awake unless you lock it manually. It doesn't happen all the time but I've noticed it's happening more frequently now days. This just kills my battery life.
Is this known issue with the phone? My phone is just rooted without any custom roms. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
I'm having the exact same problem, it would be much appreciated if someone can suggest a solution. I'm currently running the base ROM.
When I got the phone a few days ago mine would take time to lock. I went to settings > display>lockscreen>lock timer and set it to immediately. It has worked fine since - rooted, stock rom.
Hiya pony!!
The issue I have is mine never sleeps when charging. I have to manually lock it while charging. Fine otherwise.

I am experiencing the same problem as everyone. I just noticed it now. Everything set to minimum of staying awake. I have to manually lock it too. Noticed it when I was charging. I havent noticed it before until now. Also some chargers dont work well with the Optimus G which causes the touchscreen to be sensored when nothing is touching it. I dont know why its staying awake besides that.

If you are using the base ROM, there is a script that gets run each boot that sets the stay awake option to on in the developer options.
It was left over from some testing of the ROM. Nottach said it was safe to get rid of.
The offending script is in /system/etc/init.d/
It is called 69thebase (or something like that, I no longer have the file, I know it is numbered 69).
After you delete it, just go back to developer options and make sure stay awake is unchecked and reboot.
Original Post
Now, you have had issues with non-LG chargers causing touch issues?
I let a family member borrow mine because they left theirs at work. I have been using my old phones charger, and just noticed my screen is really bad when plugged in... it loses touch and it is really slow.
It is from the charger and not the phone?
Awesome.
Thanks.

Yes and no. If the problem is a third party app, factory reset won't fix it, unless you restore as new and don't reinstall any apps. Safe mode will at least let you see if it's a third party app although you won't be able to do a lot with the tablet while it's in safe mode. Just email, youtube, etc.
But if it's happening every time the tablet sleeps - mine's not, just about once a week or so - you only need to let it sleep in safe mode and wake it back up to see if it's a third party app.

Some of the posts were wifi not working at all, some were after sleep. Either way, it looked like it worked for me for a couple of days, but this morning it was disconnected.
TiBackup ran last night, and it was supposed to sync to the cloud. It errored out with a connectivity problem. Thinking back, I believe the last time it dropped was on a scheduled backup day. I'm not certain, though.
Did you try safe mode, and if so, did it help at all?

So i did safe mode for 24 hours and that fixed it.
So i did a factory reset, and that appears to have fixed it also.
Not sure what app broke it. I had no crazy app installed a few games tapatalk titanium. etc.

But thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Well, at least with Lollipop it's easier to rebuild from a factory reset. Guess I'll have to do that too.
BTW, unlike my N7 and S5, I have a fairly minimal install on the N9. All mainstream stuff, and only about half the app count of the other devices.
Have had phone since last Wednesday (4-11-18) have never taken SIM card out. Phone died once on 4-12-18. I have restarted it a few times but I read that doesn't affect the option showing up. It's now been over a week and still no oem unlock. Any ideas?? Am I doing something wrong?

Not once. I first turned the phone on and activated it on 4-11-18 at about 8:30pm. Died the next day around 5:30pm and I started charging it at 6pm. Hasn't ever dropped to 0% since.
