Hello Everyone
I know, there are many How-To's and ways to achieve what I want. unfortunately non of those I tried have worked.
My goal. I want to unroot my Hero, to send it back to RMA, because the usb controller is not working. And this is the second biggest Problem atm.
All the How-To's to unroot the device an install the original RUU or at least most of them include the use of the USB function. (creating a gold card 4 example or flashing a different bootloader)
To the USB Controller. It is hopeless. I tried everything. I even set up a Linux VM but where ever I plug it in, the system won't recognise my hero. They don't even recognise something.
Lucky me, the Hero is still able to charge the battery.
*****
Ok lets give some details on the actual situation.
I'm able to boot to HBOOT/Fastboot (volume down)
I'm able to boot to Clockwork Mod Recovery 2.5.0.7 (home)
Right now, it's restoring the system to FroydVillain 1.7.1, because i formated the boot partition (After 5 hours, I was tired and did one big mistake)
> The restore worked. I have my old System again.
What I tried to do
1. I downloaded the actual RUU, ran it, got the rom.zip out of it.
2. Booted into Clockwork Mod and tried to install from zip, where i got [Error Message 1]
3. Renamed the rom to update.zip and tried to install toe "normal" way. Also got the same [Error Message 1]
4. Renamed the rom into HEROIMG.zip, ran HBOOT which checks the zip and led me to [Error Message 2]
Error Message 1
Code:

I downloaded the actual Hero RUU three times from the website, in case something went wrong while dl.
I got an older RUU from a xda thread and tried it with tis one.
I am not able to create a goldcard, because you have to connect the phone via usb to a computer.
Well Any help is much appreciated.

Hey,
really sh*tty that usb ain't working..
having trouble from time to time myself, got a suggestion for ya though
1) find yourself a rom that is very close to a stock rom (suggesting stock WWE,
as can be found on this forum, mr bang, stock wwe rooted)
http://www.romraid.com/paul/hero/upd...5.5-signed.zip (maybe an option)
2) make sure it doesn't have a customized kernel (or flash the stock one )
3) make sure it doesn't have apps2sd
4) use universal androot => UNROOT
5) delete busybox from your phone
guess this should get as close as it can be to a stock sense rom
(meaning unrooted and minor customizations

Hey mattnmd
Thank you for the hints!
Actually I could not download the ROM because the link seems "wrong" but it pointed me in the right direction.
I found e repacked Stock ROM (1.5) which I was able to flash.
So... My base system is ok for the moment. BUT my recovery is not
There is still clockworkmod recovery installed and it won't let me install updates.
Now in the next step I need a way to flash a different recovery (the original) without the use of USB.
androot does work. btw =)
Thanks a lot

Put the Hero like stock without USB
Is there a solution for this already?!! I've exactly the same problem - USB doesn't works, not even for charge! And I need to make it stock-alike in order to send it to warranty. I managed to install the stock ROM but still, there's the AmonRa Bootloader installed... I created a goldcard without USB using this: w ww.mikesouthby.co.uk/2010/08/htc-desire-creating-goldcard-using-mac-or-linux/
but, when I try to apply the HEROIMG.zip trough Hboot, it says "Main version is older"
What am I missing?! Is the installed radio too recent for the stock image I'm trying to install?!
I have no solution jet. But I'll write as soon as I see a way.

Worked for me!!!
Well, I found a way to solve my problem! I needed to put my GSM Hero as stock as possible (without root/custom ROMS/AmonRa/etc) without USB... The only solution, as far as I've read is to flash using a GoldCard the zip file from the RUU *.exe from HTC. I manage to create the GoldenCard without USB but when I tried to flash, it would say "Main Version is Older" after checking the HEROIMG.zip . It finally worked when I used this particular RUU version: RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.38_WWE_release_signed_No Driver.exe from XDA thread #559622. Give it a try
Finally done
Hey dusturn
You are my (HTC) Hero
I just made the goldcard, and installed the new/old image (2.73.405.38) The Device got the old cupcake 1.5 on it and I was not able to get into recovery anymore!
It finally seems to be ok! Thank you very much!

How did you make goldcard without USB? I have the same problem but cannot find a solution.
Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been asked, but I searched and hundreds of results came up, but none of them seemed to answer my question.
I am having issues with my USB port, similar to the problems in other threads. I've tried the cleaning with nail polish remover etc, but whilst it will now charge and doesn't repeatedly start Vlingo randomly, I can't connect to my PC via USB.
I get the message "un-recognised USB device connected", but I have all of the drivers etc installed.
I was wondering if it's possible to root the GS2 without actually using the USB?
I know back in the day of my HTC Magic (awesome device) that I could use the goldcard method and flash files from the SD card, but wasn't sure if this was an option.
Does the mobile Odin offer this capability? Or something that I haven't considered?
I'm not worried about flashing roms etc, but would like to be able to use root apps such as Titanium and Set CPU etc.
(Sorry about the long post )
Cheers.
Yes it's possible just use wireless adb to install Zergrush root, which gives basic root.
For custom kernels (with CWM recovery to flash roms) you do that then manually flash a kernel with the correct dd command from the adb command line.
Edit: My bad I forgot that wireless adb requires root
Mobile odin works only if the phone is already rooted

Basically, no. Not going to happen.
You're better off sending the phone in for warranty service if you're having problems with it before you muck around with it, lest something happens where you can't unroot it, put stock firmware back on, jig it to reset the counter.
I figured as much.
I would send in for warranty , but I've rooted it previously and have flashed updates via odin.
Guess I'll have to go without.
Thanks for the quick response guys.

Sorry to dredge up an old post, but I thought that I'd update for the benefit of anyone who reads this one.
I received an OTA to ICS (no kies!) and am now able to root the device using the method from the following link:

I bought this HTC explorer pico about 50 days ago, it worked totally fine . I rooted it added a custom ROM, still worked perfectly .
About two weeks ago i suddenly got a " No signal , Limited service error " . I thought the service might be down so i let it stay for a few hours.
The problem persisted and its been two weeks since i got any signals .
Things i did to figure out what was wrong:
1. Used the SIM from my HTC explorer and tested it on my bro's Nokia c7 , i got full signals and everything.
2. Used another SIM ( which was working perfectly on my bro's Nokia c7) on my HTC explorer and still got the same error of no signal limited service .
3. Searched around the web , found similar problems but nothing that could solve my problem ( some were solved by changing the sim , some were solved via contacting the service provider <- did all these but still the problem exists ).
I'd really appreciate it if anyone here could help me out.
If unfortunately there isn't any solution and if it is a hardware problem , could anyone help me out in restoring the phone to the stock ROM and locking the boot loader.
( I found a tutorial here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500165 , but as i am new to android , i couldn't understand anything. )
Thanks.

Ace.

I didnt before your post , so i did it after your reply.
The internet on the phone is working correctly.
But i didn't get how this would help in perhaps an issue that is related to cellular network signals not an internet/wifi issue?
try to reflash stock rom (u can lost root) or custom rom. U could deleted sth important.
Noobie
Thanks for the reply ch3mn3y , but as i stated in my first post i am a noobie. So i didnt exactly understand your post.
I reflashed the only available custom rom available for Htc explorer. Then i flashed stock rom using the recovery menu and update by .zip file option.
But the problem still exists.
Regards,
Ace.
I mean that u should install again clean stock rom (eg from here www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/index.php?o...riginal-roms&catid=65:htc-downloads&Itemid=98) and than do factory reset.
If u still have a problem i think that it can be hardware problem (?) not soft
I would be more helpful with xperia's couse its the only phone i had

There is no way to relock the bootloader without HTC knowing it was unlocked and relocked. You can relock it, but it will be obvious to HTC that it was at one point unlocked.
Note that on their bootloader unlocking site it says that unlocking the bootloader may void some or all of your warranty. I haven't (thankfully) had experience with HTC's warranty policies, but by my reading, that means you may still be covered by warranty. My initial assumption would be that perhaps the warranty will still cover hardware defects, provided they are not caused by unlocking bootloader, or what you do with unlocked bootloader (i.e. custom ROMs etc.). But as I said, I haven't had experience. You could try and contact HTC on the matter.
I am trying to exhaust every possibility before i can send for the warranty claim because i have international warranty and no local warranty.
Come on guys i need help here at-least point me to a tutorial to restoring the phone to the stock ROM and locking the boot loader. Id really appreciate it .
Thanks.

Warning dont flash any other rom before this step in order to retain factory status you have to maintain the default rom on which rooting was done
for those who want to revert to stock from jaggy or any other make a clockwork backup of your stock rom even if it is rooted
Step 1 : if you have messed up in previous posts by our friend dont be alarmed
make sure you have clockwork mod of your original rom backed up in sd card or in the computer copied from sd card
to do this go to the recovery option choose backup and restore in this select restore and select the backup you did with your stock rom
Step 2 : download these files ( also noted in my system the android sdk was in c drive root as c:\Android else make a fresh installation of the android sdk ) GIVEN BELOW AT THE END OF POST
Step 3 : on c drive paste these files in c:\Android ( if file not there in pc install sdk in this folder ) now open cmd from start menu
Step 4 : Execute commands
cd c:\Android
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
(fastbooting system .img mentioned in previous post is not required as it will conflict with the hboot and it too tiresome to get the sock back)
Final step : now with the stock boot and recovery of htc default signed just restart your cell phone and got to settings > storage >factory reset
Ta da your phone is unrooted now for the grand finale lock the HBOOT
execute command : fastboot oem lock
to lock the boot loader
now it will show relocked now at this stage if you got your factory default ruu matched with the software version of your phone in my case it was
V1.31.728.1
then flash that ruu and vola your phone is crystal clear no hboot relocked or no rooting ever shown.

Then solving this problem may be possible through factory reset
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e
Solved this problem
I accidently solved the problem, but don't know the reason. Let me tell you the scenario:-
1. Using CM11-Kitkat_4.4.4 (no signal since 1-2 months, got signal sometimes for 20 sec-that too not more then once a day, tried maximum ROMs including stock, and all available methods on various sites)
2. Attached Phone to computer as "Mass Storage"
3. Via MiniTool Partition Magic:
a) resize the first FAT32(main sdcard) partition to make space
b) move (sd-ext) second EXT3 partition to shift free space at right side(sdcard & sd-ext will be together then)
c) deleted last(3rd) swap partition [as all these 3 partition are automatically created-if you partition sdcard by cmmRecovery OR aw3som3Recovery]
d) created a new partition(3rd at last position) by all available space (by resizing-1st, moving-2nd, deleteing-3rd) AS EXT4, labeled SD-DATA
e) Apply. (phone automatically restarted-but stuck at boot animation; I removed the battery and restart-all working with signal). I also check partition, I fount that CM11-ROM using the 3rd partition also(7% used). That's weird coz in CM11 doc I didn't found anywhere to create 3rd partition; I created it coz in CM12-LolipopROM it was mentioned.
**) Now partition order = SDCARD [FAT32 all remaining size of memory card], SD-EXT [EXT3 approx.. 900MB], SD-DATA [EXT4 approx. 1GB]
**) As per my knowledge, I think 2nd/3rd partition can be EXT2/3/4 (just a guess)
4. Now signal are working after restart since 12 hrs. And [also] [still] after flashing CM12-LolipopRom
5. NOTE: Its not working if I set location setting to "High Accuracy" SET IT TO [Device Only].
May be it help to someone.

Hi,
I am first time onto this forum. So, sorry if I have not posted it onto the right thread.
I have a Alcatel onetouch Idol X+ (6043D). Recently it released some stability update 01010 of size 194Mb. The download went successful, but while installing it says 'SD card not found' and gives in a menu to boot the phone. I am not sure what is going wrong here.
I am using stock ROM, is not rooted and the phone is completely encrypted. I am not sure, if encryption is causing some issue in installation.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
