Just the other day I received my Amazfit BIP, and I am impressed by the little but powerful device. However, seeing and knowing what it can do, but not having a way to benefit from it in the best way, is a bit frustrating. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread here to collect ideas from users, that can either be implemented by official developers, or by modders who know how to do these things. So, let's get started with a few ideas of mine:
1. It would be great to have either a permanent measurement of the heart rate, or at least a way to set up repetitive measurements, e.g. every minute or every two/five minutes. I know it is possible, because the device does it when in "activity" mode, e.g. "running".
1b. Talking about heart rate, it would be nice to have the watch vibrate after measuring the heart rate on the "Status" page (in the same way the MiBand 2 does it).
2. As the device has GPS, it would be great to have a possibility to use it to show the location on the display (in my eyes, it would fit perfectly onto the "Status" page). Just showing coordinates would be sufficient, and could be incredibly helpful in emergencies.
3. For notifications, it should be possible to delete them separately, by some swiping action or a long press on the screen
4. On the watchface, it should be possible to change the display of the date from MM/DD to DD/MM, as this is usual way in many countries.
5. As to the brightness of the display, I find that the lowest setting is still to bright for me at night. It would be great to have a setting that is lower than the lowest present one, but not "off".
nobody interested?
Totally agree
Yep, in fact the only reason I bought the watch was the GPS and the compass. And I never imagined that you can't even see the current GPS position on the watch itself!!! Showing the current coordinates on screen should be extremely simple and I think this is a must for a GPS watch!!! If I needed the smartphone to see the coordinates, why the hell would I need to have GPS on the watch itself.. almost every smartphone these days have their own GPS????

At least the guys from Huami are very responsive: displaying GPS coordinates is now possible, along wirh air pressure (measured by the BIP's barometer), and altitude. To see these data, swipe left from the compass). This new feature came with Mifit 3.1.6 and firmware 0.9.49.

Wrong, it's as official as it can be. Its beta, but stable enough for daily use - and updates come every few days anyway. Check them out here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/anhui-huami-information-technology-co-ltd/mi-fit/
Well, it does not apear on my phone through MiFit app. Also some are complaining on facebook that this firmware eat a lot of battery.

As I said, it's a beta. I am now on 0.9.59, and have zero problems with battery life. Yes, it does need some more energy, when you use new features such as continuous heart rate analysis or displaying GPS often, but it's totally worth it for me. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Good to know.
Another must have, would be the possibility to set up 0 (zero) second to the notification delay.

agreed! The minimum now possible, 3 seconds, appears a bit too long. Maybe there is a technical reason for this, but I would definitely also prefer to set the delay to zero.
What I noticed yesterday, and what I find super annoying, is the behavior of the auto-pause in activities. This feature is very useful, no question, but the way it is implemented drives me crazy. It starts too quickly (2 seconds or so), which is not practical, given that sometimes you have to stop running or walking, e.g. when crossing a street safely. It would be nice to have the possibility for a custom delay (several seconds). But what's even worse is that it has problems to be resumed - whenever I click resume, it basically immediately pauses again, often three to four times, and totally independent of whether I am running or walking again (which often I CANNOT when I have to handle the resume button several times!). I think this is just a bug, but if it isn't, there should be some way that suppresses auto-stop after pressing resume, for at least 10 seconds or a minute (if someone wants to stop it again during that time, for good reason, he can still do it manually anyway!).
Thanks

Just use last MiFit version and it will update.
The only problem IO have so far is a deconnexion when I go far from the watch. The miFit app seems to be freezed and faile to reconnect.
I think my problem comes from Oreo.
Notify & Fitness has way more options compared to Mi Fit and that's good to have the choice.
For ex, notifications can be customized. (hello 3 sec delai from Mi Fit ).
For ex : 2 vibs // showing SMS // 22 Bibs
Instants vibs for phone ....

It would be nice to have more activities to choose like gym...
For me, discard single notifications by swiping rigth/left on it and open on the phone by swiping on the opposite side would be AWESOME.
An app to control the music and video player on the phone would be an extra of awesomeness, so when your'e riding to the work or making some sports, if you could change/pause/volume down/up the music without grabbing the phone or when being at home viewing via plex some tv shows and pause the video when you must go to the oven for the pizza would made your existence a bit happier

Also I'll like to have the notifications displayed for longer not just 3-4 seconds as it is now.

Like always, it would be great to have this customizable. For me, 3-4 seconds is ok, because I can display it at any time later anyway by swiping up from the watch face. It would be nice, though, to have some indication on the watch face to show that there are unread notifications.

Thanks for this tip, cool to know! I'd prefer to have it in the official firmware, though. Not because I don't like modding, but because these modifications are always being overwritten whenever there is an official update.

Great little application. Thank you.
A suggestion, perhaps an adjustable speed warning. IE change screen colour when over a set top speed. (or even stages of screen colour changes ie at 30/50/80 etc)
Thanks again
I noticed the name of your app "GPS Speedo" but some one already has that name for there GPS app over @ http://www.tchartdev.com/
So it'll get confusing to know whats what between the two.
Hi Ralph,
Tried your application yesterday and today and seems to be working fine. Speed shows nicely, AVG seems to be correct.
Some pointers you might wanna consider;
1- The font could be more clear. The "greyed" lines are a bit too visible I think
2- Are the gps records logged? You could integrate this into some kind of export. For people (like myself) who drive the same route to work every day, it would be fun to see some statistics..
3- Max. speed warning (no sound effects, please )
If I come up with something else, ill let you know. Thanks for the nice app!

1 - Still not decided on the font yet, I like the matrix style, but was going for the grid behind it. I might just remove that.
2 - They are not logged yet, I just need to know how people want it logged?
Raw nmea sentences
KML files to use in Google Earth
Or another way
3 - I though of this, how would you like it. Single speed or stepped as suggested before?
I am also going to provide logging for the trip, times/distance/(ave/max) speed etc
Cheers,
Paul.

Hmm, All I do is install the two fonts, I know that WM will use the best choice font, but that's a bit silly.
I'm going to remove this one from the next release. Try going to \windows\fonts and deleting the Font that Ends in A___.ttf.

Happened the same to me...
Looks like the apps that are being affected are missing a font, I had this with the Facebook app installed by default on Dutty's Leo R4.
Windows Mobile tries to be clever if you select a font and it's not on the device, it chooses the one closest in size (I think) to the one it's trying to use, thus you get some Random effects.
I'll see if I can restrict the font to only be used by my app, deleting the font will revert your other apps back to normal.

Removed one of the fonts as it was making other apps unusable, thanks MS..
Also changed the name as GPS_Speedo isn't unique by any means.

This is a great application Paul, my 300ZX's speedometer does not work, so I use this app as an alternative and help me stay in the speed limit. Cops always watching me if I passed the limit in the highway
Thanks to @biktor_gj and his development skills, it all started here, below are the things I've managed to get working either partially or fully. Once a stable CM 13 is released, this post is likely to be updated.
Fully charge your watch first. Things below will take considerable time to configure to your liking; it's better to have enough battery to fully test the configuration.
1. Because CM 12 is a 5.1 build, you'll have to get Play Services from a Lollipop apk (I got mine from apkmirror), and install Gapps (mine is a modular nano; it will take 10-20 minutes). I suggest wiping Dalvik cache from TWRP after installing Gapps - my unit was very unresponsive until I wiped Dalvik and it rebuilt all 98 apps (your app count may vary).
2. Push notifications - get the Desktop Notifications app. Until Bluetooth is working properly, get Desktop Notifications (yes, it's only via WiFi tethering, it's cloud-based, which sucks, I hate it, but oh well). Configure and test it on another Android device first (provided you have one) or a computer, so that you can successfully get notifications to begin with and aren't wasting your time on the tiny 200-dpi Gear S screen. Keep in mind that because it's Wifi-tether, the battery life may suffer. Because I'm still testing various things on and off (primarily with Tasker), I haven't had a chance to test the battery from 100% in a fully-working state.

3. Tasker profiles on the watch; this section is likely to be updated every now and again, as I tweak more and more settings. You have to install Tasker on the watch.
3.1. Watch notifications -> Wake Device and Vibrate.
Get Secure Settings as well as Auto Notification from Play Store, go to Tasker and create a new profile. Profile details/conditions are "Notify" and "Display State Off". "Notify" comes from the Auto Notification module/plugin. Configure -> Action Type = "Created Only"; Persistency = "Non-Persistent", Apps = check "Desktop Notifications". Task would have Vibration and Wake Device (Secure Settings -> Actions -> Wake Device). Vibration duration is whatever you choose; mine is set to 200ms.
3.2. [not ideal but most reliable] Cover to Wake -> upon covering the device light sensor while the screen is off, it wakes the device and briefly lights it up for a couple of seconds so you see the time, etc.
Profile conditions are "Light Level 0 to 1" and "Display State Off". Task is - "Wake Device" from Secure Settings. Configure that as you wish.

1. For some reason, the shaking profile isn't working as well as I had hoped. I'm looking into either adjusting it further, or incorporating the accelerometer "face-up", proximity or pressure sensing profile, which I'm not entirely sure would work since there may be no sensors for that on Gear S.
Accelerometer isn't that great, either, see below - the watch is on its side, yet the accelerometer says that it's facing up.
2. Tasker light sensor isn't working for me either - with the condition of "Light sensor values 1 through 5 + Display State Off" followed by "Wake Device" task, nothing is happening when I cover the light sensor while the device is off. I'll have to do a bit more digging on how the light sensor is handled in Tasker.
3. Neither proximity nor orientation sensors are being detected by the Sensor Test app. My hopes for the pressure sensor quickly vanished when I discovered that it's not the screen pressure but atmospheric pressure.
4. The light sensor monitoring was off (genius) - got the light sensor to work. Set the profile to "Screen Off + Light Level 0 to 1" -> Wake Device. So far, this seems to be the most reliable waking option. EDIT: unless you're wearing long sleeves, of course. Just can't catch a break with this screen wake.
Are there any other apps that you'd recommend for this watch? I currently use calendar widget: month, and mighty text. I had to change the dpi to get mighty text to scale properly. Coincidentally, changing the dpi also allowed me to use the calculator widget.

I'll be waiting for the CM 13 update. If Bluetooth becomes a reliable tethering option (right now I'm paired to the phone but cannot browse internet) and sensors get a better implementation, I'll think of more things to do. So far the shake sensor presents a concern, as it works on the first try but stops on the third or fourth attempt (the shake movement of the wrist is literally identical).

I recommend either dynamic notifications, or acdisplay for a better lockscreen. You can configure them to turn on the screen for a few seconds when you get notification.
Set their background to pure black for battery savings.
Edit: they're nice but I have to say don't bother with the little ram we have. I feel kitkat rom would've been better to port to Gear S
Edit 2: Install this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.azasoft.free.swapper set it to 120mb. helps with ram.
Also this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chummy.jezebel.blacked.out and apply in themes app. helps with amoled power savings
Not available on "Next" to update the application .apk. This is due to the resolution of 200dpi. Therefore it is necessary to change the settings at 180dpi resolution. But it comes a full restart of the interface. After the installation is restarted again to return 200 dpi. Is it possible to update the application without changing the dpi? I have no established GAPPS for ideological reasons.

I think it's a paid feature and works through internet though. I actually installed SWAPPLink and it does notification through bluetooth connection (It crashes often, but notifications still work, just hit ok on the crash message and it'll keep working)
Also I got it from the Swapplink Google + community, where he posts beta versions. I don't know when last the play store version has been updated.

The rondo Icon pack is a free pack of very Clear and simple icons. It fits perfectly to the small Display of the gear s.
what is this tasker thingy?
Hi guys! I dont know if this thread is alive anymore. But I'm currently using the latest? android 5.1.1 on my gear s and its awesome! compared to regular tizen...
For notifications i'm using m2d sender / receiver. it works perfectly! pushes all notifications from my phone to my watch. in the new update you can set m2d receiver up to be used on a watch. works very well!=) check it out!
The only issue I have with running android on is the RAM. i only have amax of 100MB ram free! Anyone being able to free up more?
Hello,
how can i use on CM the Heart Rate Sensor and UV Sensor?
there is an app for bluetooth notifications between gear s cm and android phone?
How stable is cm on the gear s?

Hi,
I have developed an Xposed module to enable the pad in Pokemon Go.
The module allows to set a starting GPS position, set the pad speed an to start the game directly from the module UI (pressing the PokemonGo logo).
To enable/disable the pad, just switch to enable/disable.
The module DOESN'T USE MOCK POSITION. I used a different approach to develop the module.
For this reason, it's more difficult to discover (probably) by a mock location checker, but there is a little time delay between the click on the pad and the game position update.
It's still in development, so please report some issue or improvement suggestions.
Instructions:
1) Start the "DarkPokemonGo" app.
2) Set initial GPS position (default is Pisa, Leaning Tower) and speed (expressed as degrees for click, REALLY
recommended default speed is 0.0001). Remember to validate them (click on DONE,ENTER on keyboard)!!!
3) Enable module (and pad appears).
4) Start game (pressing the PokemonGo logo).
5) ENJOY!
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for ban or other issues! Use this module on your risk.

FAQs
Does the eggs system work?
Yes! If you set a low speed (default one is fine) and move slowly from one point to another, it works!
Is the module noticeable?
It shouldn't. Anyway my advice is to set a starting point and then move slowly from one location to another using the pad. If you move quickly from a side to the world to another, you could be banned!
Do I need to enable mock location? And GPS?
No, mock location is not required. Yes, you need to turn GPS on.
Can you add the feature X?
Sure, I'm opened to improvement suggestions.

Hey! I was using your mod and was soft ban in less than 5 minutes.(bummer) but it's a great one just not unnoticeable enough for Niantic.
Would you be able to add an option to either continue from current location or add a map so we are able to select start location rather than the latitude and longitude?
Hey Darkalbo, thx for this great module! It's perfect for when it rains, I'm feeling lazy or I want to catch Italian pokemon. I have a few suggestions, though.
-I don't know what controls you use in your video, but my fingers are way to big to reliably use your navigation buttons. One possibility would be to put one button at every edge of the screen, maybe also translucent and with a N/E/S/W designation. But anything to make my movement less random would be a big help.
-GPS coordinates are not easy to work with, I think. It would be a little easier if there were some presets or profiles we could make for the coordinates, like actual location, last ingame location, Pisa, home.
-Option to turn vibration off?
That's just my two cents.
Does it solve the most common problem with xposed modules related to pokemon go? That being The Module/ Joystick disappears or the app closes as it can't retain in memory. 1gb RAM phone here. If yes , i'll sure try this
I tried this today. First of all, thank you so much for developing this module!!!
Some bugs that I found - it's difficult to maneuver and get the direction you want. Could you add a feature that gives you the option to start from your current position, and move around from there?
Also, when I was moving around locally and collecting from the Pokéstops, it was perfect. Then I put myself into the New York Botanicals and then my goodies stopped coming when I would spin a Pokéstop.

Very strange behaviour...
Try to restart your phone so the Xposed framework should reload the module.

It's unnoticeable by client side, but it's still noticeable from server side. If you go from NYC to Tokyo and then put your GPS location on London, they could think that you are cheating or you have invented teleportation
My advice is to move slowly from one location an another, without "jump".

I tried to make something similar to the nintendo game boy pad, this is the reason of the position of it.
Anyway I will probably add the N/E/S/W on pad.

Yes, my advice is to move slowly from one point to another and not just "jump". This is the reason because I have developed the option to set a starting point, and then just move slowly around the map, because in this way the module is unnoticeable from Niantic server. If you move from NYC to Tokyo or Paris in just 5 minutes, they could notice something strange
Picked lon/lat but once loaded in I'm stood in the middle of the ocean when I know it's a big city? Any ideas?
---------- Post added at 11:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:09 AM ----------
When I add a long lat of a big city I I'm standing in the middle of the ocean with nothing around me but when I clear the dark Pokemon cache it takes me to Pisa again.
I think they recognise me...
Or I became very unlucky or they are punishing me
It works fine for 6 minutes but after that I could move without catch any...

Does anyone know what Bluetooth Class the Amazfit uses?
Today i had my phone (Huawei P9lite) on the bottom of my car's trunk and was over 40 Meters away from it. Despite that fact i got several messages on my watch.
This seems an unusual long distance to me.
So at least i really can not complain about the range of my BT.
For who is interested in 1.2.1 Hua Watch App here is my link :https://app.box.com/s/uzov816mmzagzctcj71mlniaph5qhrdu
As there is little or no info available on HW after some investigation for me it looks like its Ingenic M200 CPU, and its probably following newton2 platform. Maybe somebody find this useful.

I can confirm this. There are many references in the firmware to ingenic code.
Can someone confirm that with Amazfit Watch App 1.2.1 the ability to upload custom watch faces got lost?

Have the same issue here. With 1.2.0 it worked, with 1.2.1 it is gone.
But honestly, i found the feature quite useless as a transflective LCD isn't really good in displaying images and the readability of the watch face gets worse with a background image.
it worked for me, thanks for the translation!!
Had just another issue that i find a bit annoying.
Went out for a little run and had to go slow because of the snow.
The watch automatically paused the logging. so i had to take my gloves off to keep it going. while putting my gloves back on, it already paused again. i left the watch unattended and it really didn't record most of my run. It recorded a time of 42 minutes but only 900 meters.
They should at least wait two minutes with GPS on and check if the runner continues moving. What if you have to stop at a traffic light?
Today I did a run again. The GPS was failing again with US-firmware. I am very disappointed with the reception.

Seems that the GPS is turning off. You should really go for another firmware.
My lat/long precision is decent with 1.2.6b but elevation in the first few trackpoints still has the value -20000meters

Hi flintzen_123,
I have done 2, 3 running sessions in the open area with the 1.2.6b and the recorded track is typically withing 5 m from the actual track.
Occasionally I get smooth deviation of something like 10m but it it is not very often.
When I was with 1.2.5 I had deviations like 100m but the recorded track was continuous.
In your case your GPS loses the sync with the satellites. You have not stooped or running very slow, correct?
I hope it is not a hardware issue you are facing.
If I have to summarize the watch GPS (1.2.6b) is kind of OK even though
it is at least twice as less accurate as my phone, but probably I should expect this?
Not sure what is the typical accuracy of the Garmin watches.
What I am missing now is the Altitude and simple Strava export from my phone.
Regards
Dimitar

I was not running slowly, so that can't be it. I needed to stop a couple of meters before the connection was lost since I needed to cross a main street with frequently running cars. Also I do not understand, that sometimes everything just works fine and another time it is totally unusable. Almost the same route then. I have now switched to the latest chinese firmware, but still the measurements are shown in miles instead of kilometers. When I first switched back to version 0.9.5. the km were back but with the latest version it shows miles again.

The watchfaces work quite well if you modify the golden rooster watchface and apply a vector based background image, then it displays the white clock hands on your colored background, which is nicely readable. The only annoying issue is, that clock hands don't move when the screen ist idle. You have to wake up the screen to see what time it really is.

thats only partly true. you can't see the seconds in realtime, but watch face is updated every minute in idle mode...

I know it works but i prefer maximum contrast. So if the hands are white then the background has to be black and an all black background is not an "image"
All that fancy stuff looks better on OLED or regular LCD.

What kind of Phone is that? I want it.
My Amazfit performs on an equal level to a Garmin Oregon 450 and all the phones i had so far were worse than that.
The Oregon is not perfect but it is usable for Openstreetmap mapping and geocaching. Most high sensitive GPS receivers have more or less problems with reflections that make the position inprecise but that is what they are made for. A receiver that works even without direct satellite view. Best was my GPSMAP 60CSx with an sirfIII chipset but they do not build them any more.

hello everyone
i have a few questions about notifications on Huawei mate 20 pro. First, i can't swipe notifications down on the lockscreen to see the full message. I only see the first line. That is very annoying! I had a s9+ before this one and i liked the swiping down of the notifications. Second I also don't see notifications on the always on display. I mean, what's the point of it if you only see the time, date and battery?
Are these things just in the EMUI or can i change it? And would it help if we send emails to them? Oneplus for example listens to their community. Is huawei like that or more like Apple who gives a **** about the community?
i hope you guys can help me!!!
PS: I know that my English isn't great, so i don't need comments on typos :silly:
Need to go into face unlock settings and can turn off the hide notifications before unlock option.

i don't think you understand me. I CAN see notifications and i CAN see what's in the message but i CAN'T expand the notification to see the FULL notification.
I was saying this since day 1 lol. found out if you tap precisely on the little arrow on the top line of the notification it expands them all. I would screenshot but returned my Mate 20 Pro this morning for a refund.

My first one had green screen which was annoying in itself. but I just didnt unbox the replacement so it was easier to return
but yeah:
Notification issues (missed calls just dont really show anywhere unless you open the dialer app too)
Issues unlocking the device - face unlock didnt work very well and I followed the advice to set it up with my face being lit from the front, fingerprint reader didnt work very well for me either and I had tried deleting and adding my fingerprint a few times too - would work fine for the first day. I would always end up having to enter the pin number to unlock it which also annoyed me that I could have a pattern unlock - would have been quicker to do a pattern than a 6 digit pin.
Silence from Huawei on updates, bugs and green screen issue.
I purchased simfree unlocked from a general store and not a network but it still relies on my network for updates.
Camera was great but it did take work to take a good pic - all this please hold still to sharpen and stuff. I never managed to take a quick snap that was in focus lol
Gone back to the Pixel 2 and saving my money for next year, if this gets root and stock android and maybe a hardware revision to elimiate all green screens then I'll come back to it though!

All your points are spot on, except that after a bit of work, i can get incredible camera shots, but I would also add:
Notifications appear and then disappear sometimes, or appear again after I've got rid of them
Swipe down from middle of the screen should be notifications, and not search
No swipe up from bottom of screen to access flashlight etc... like you can do on the lock screen...
Automatic brightness often switches down while I'm unlocking the phone, probably because i'm covering some light while reaching for it, and then doesn't ramp back up, so have turned this off
Native Email Client gets emails 15 - 30 mins after the gmail app...

I would have Huawei over Samsung any day of the week
I have Samsung S9, LG G7 and now this Mate 20 Pro.. honestly Huawei is amazing piece of HW, but the software side is way behind LG or Samsung.
You will just spot all the missing features during daily use. There are so much useful things that works on LG/Samsung, but are missing on Huawei.
Is there some official email, or developer forum, where we can post feature requests?
