Hi, I'm a spanish user of one e1901_v77_jdt1_9p017 mobile (with JB 4.1.1). I have tried to root it using up to four methods (including Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18), but no success. Please, could you detail the process to root this phone?. Is absolutely neccessary to flash a new rom to do this?. I would appreciate your help very much.

Which version is yours: QHD or FWVGA??
If you have the fwvga, you can follow the steps I wrote here:
I followed the procedure in the post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36463904&postcount=43
to backup my ROM.
I then flashed the boot and recovery from post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36882270&postcount=62
(cwm_recovery.img and cwm_boot.img) with the SP Flash Tool.
It was the first time I flashed a ROM and it took me a while to realize that I would need to map my scatter file with the two images and then click download to flash the phone... I eventually made it
The problem was that, once in the CWM, the volume buttons didn't work.... But the menu button worked as volume -. So I managed to install the cwm-supersu from the SD Card. As the volume keys still didn't work in Android, I flashed back my backed up boot and recovery images and eventually the phone was rooted and the volume keys worked.

Thanks a lot. Sorry, I'm a newbie in these matters
Then, all I have to do is:
- Install the Correct drivers for flashing into PC.
- Install Flashing tool into PC
- Install CMW into the phone by flashing tool. (absolutely neccessary?)
- Root the phone (Root file by CWM)
is OK and in this order?
Which Scatter file have you used? ( have to search the scatter file into the phone?)
Thanks again for your support

Thanks for your response. Mine is QHD. I am newbie in these matters and I have not done any flashing before. So, I would prefer a root method without the need of flashing the phone, but I think that this possibility is not available for JB 4.1.1 at this moment. I have to read much more about the flashing process before do it because I have read that this process is very dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.

I would say that you have the same problem as I have: you flashed the wrong boot/recovery...
The only way out is to get the stock (original) rom... I have been looking for it for more than 1 month
Let me know if you find it!

Could you please post the link to this rom ( the e1901_v77_jdt1_9p017 (QHD) )?

I have the same phone ( the e1901_v77_jdt1_9p017_fwvga) with screen 5.3 854x480

I will post the results after testing is satisfactory.

I still have no 100% working ROM... Still no camera nor volume keys.
Have a look on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150585
The procedure to install the ROM is there.
Good luck.
Try on needrom site the following phone:
STAR S7180 - ROM 3 WVGA
Use SP_MDT and select different sensors and camera untill you get your combination
Probably the correct driver will be LQ053HNYP32B or LQ053HNYP32A
If you need a rooted rom let me know, I have a mix but still no ALS_PS and light sensor
Also home back keys do not work but bottom of screen does the task (like a tablet)
However I have a perfect GPS and 3G memory (phone was 512Mb)
Good luck

I have rooted using KingRoot 4.8 in this model. Other versions of kingRoot didn't work for me..
Also never try to replace kingRoot with superSu since it leads to boot loop.I have tried this and finally went to Jio store to flash the stock for my bricked flame 8
Unbrick LYF FLAME 8 ls-4505
My flame 8 got rooted using kingroot (latest version from official site).
When I installed supersume app to install super su ,my phone got bricked. Not even booting into the system.
Then I could download the official firmware from the link: docs.google.com/uc?id=0B672QBSaJWBAWmtPaUNXTXVyR2c&export=download
Here are the steps;
Extracting the file, you'll get Qualcomm drivers, qpst n flash file folder.
Install drivers and qpst.
Then switch off the device (ls-4505) and replug the battery.
Then hold volume up+volume down+power button all together till your phone vibrates.
Then connect your device to PC and make sure the device is listed as HS-QDload.....something with a COM port in both device manager and qpst configuration.
Then open QFil and select the respective port and load mbn file (which looks like 'prog_emmc_firehose_89XX.mbn') in programmer patch section.
Then load XML files rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml one by one.
Then click download. The process will be completed in 10 minutes. There you go with stock unbricked Flame 8. Device warranty also be restored.
##PossibleErrors:
1. rawprogram0.xml error;
then you can use file unparsedrawprogram without qcn.xml and patch0.xml instead.
Don't use unparsedrawprogram.xml, because it will wipe your qcn data(imei,WiFi Mac....)
2. QFil error;
then you can download latest version from here link: boycracked.com/portfolio/download-qpstools-flasher-for-qualcomm-chipset/
Good luck

As far as I know, you don't actually need custom recovery for the xposed framework to work. Its needed in case something goes wrong.
The framework itself is just an app that anyone can install if you have root access. After that you would need to activate the exposed framework from inside the app itself. Its not compulsory to install recovery.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Have already looked at link before posting this question and relevant model (SM-J120ZN) wasn't listed. Checked again just now, to make sure and found not listed.

Okay if your devices isn't listed there just download the proper twrp recovery for your device and flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328 zip file from the twrp recovery. check these link for twrp https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...overy-twrp-3-0-2-0-samsung-galaxy-j1-t3444010

Thanks for your suggestion.
Did look up twrp recovery for SM-j120zn all over internet but unable to find one. The one in the link above is for a different model/build (SM-j120F)

SM-j120F will work for your model too just only check the first letter j120 the last extension (F,zn,etc..) mostly are not significant when we talk about custom recovery because those extension just tell's which network carrier handle that device so go head and check it your phone will not bricks........ if it stack on sumsung logo you can write the stock recovery via odin

Thank you so much for your clear and systematic instructions and your patience. Did as you suggested today and it did not brick the phone. After this step, managed to work through the other steps (flash SuperSu and Xposed framework for Samsung) and installed Xprivacy just now.
Just one last question-Have flashed SuperSu v 2.79. Would it have been better to flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2 as you suggested in your post above?

It's better to flash the latest version of SuperSU because it add new exploit for new phones model... if the root is success with v2.74 no need to looking for the beta version which is the last one but if rooting is not success download the latest version of SuperSu the one with BETA prefix.... Enjoy your rooted devices bro :good: :good:
