Samsung S5 (SM-G900F) remove o2 branding - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, sorry in advance its probably been asked 1000 times, I have searched but get mixed feedback.
I have bought a Samsung S5 and unlocked it and want to remove the o2 branding and bloatware as I am on Virgin, I understand I need to root/flash the phone.
I found this which is the latest Virgin rom;
PDA/AP Version G900FXXU1CPL7
CSC Version G900FVIR1CPL1
MODEM/CP Version G900FXXU1CPL1
Region VIR — United Kingdom
Build Date 2016-12-08
Changelist 9493471
OS Marshmallow
OS Version 6.0.1
But others say there is a ROM I can download that is empty with no branding. There is also the custom ones ofcourse but not really interested in going to that level yet.
Can you advise if I am selecting the right ROM to download, I have found a pretty straightforward guide to flash it but if you know any recent ones it would be appreciated.
Finally my current Android version is 5, can I download an Android 6 ROM so in theory I am updating the Android version too when flashing it.
Thanks

Try with German Firmware with doesn't have branding .
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s5/SM-G900F/DBT/download/G900FXXS1CQD4/130595/
Before you flash , Wipe Cache Partition.
Make first backup in order if something goes wrong!

[Q] Rooting a French SGS II and keeping SFR apps

Hi,
I have an SFR version of the SGS II, I would like to
Root my device
Unlock it
Upgrade to a faster better ROM with Hebrew support.
I am new to SGS and I want to understand a few issues. I understand that Samsung releases ROM's for different areas in the world and that they are described in a coded manner in the ROM version. what i don't understand is
(Q.1) Will any version of the ROM work on any version of SGS II ? (might be a stupid question, but i want to make sure)
I understand that burning a different ROM version on my device might void the warranty, so I need to keep a backup of the original version.
(Q.2) where do I find the CSC of the my SFR ROM ?
(Q.3) I want to keep the ability to connect to all SFR Wifi hotspots for FREE it is done from an app installed on the device probably by the CSC, Do i need to backup the SFR apps i want from the original ROM and reinstall them on the new ROM, or could I simply find the SFR CSC, and install it once i'm done upgrading, rooting and unlocking my device ?
Can someone recommend me a good ROM version along with modem version ?
that supports Hebrew characters (right to left languages) ?
This are the details of my device,
PDA::KE4
PHONE: KE1
CSC: KE4 (SFR)
Any help would be much, much appreciated like i said i am new to this device.
Thanks, in advance.

Hi mate, since I have a SFR SGS2 too, I think I can help you
Q1 : Yes, you might want to go to Intratech's topic in the Dev section to search the ROM you want. You can also try various custom ROMs from the same section
Q2 : here
Q3 : You can simply redownload SFR apps from the market

Hi again and thank you for your answers, I have some complementary questions
1. in the ROM official forum intratech is posting KE4 rom and stock rom whats is the difference between them ?
2. Does the ROM include the Firmware + modem + CSC.
3. how do i extract the CSC and burn it, after i burn a new firmware +modem ?
4. from the list of ROMs I can burn you suggested (in the DEV forum) which one is more suitable for SFR and how do i determine that the modem version is suitable ?
5. i read somewhere in the forum that changing the firmware and rooting looses the APN - the settings for Internet and specific operator configuration. so my question would be in case i can not burn or apply the CSC of SFR after i change my firmware how do i back up this information in order to make sure that the phone doesn't loose functionality's later ?
6. I don't understand what *#1234# does ?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions, like i said i am new to this
Hey guys I recently bought an SGS II SFR (Forfait blocké), can I root it and install custom ROM on it, or I should Unlock it first?
And what ROM do you use?
Thanks in advance.

[Q]Flashing P7500XWKG9

Hi!
I have a question about flashing my brand new P7500.
I got it Thailand and want to change the ROM to EUR.
I've downloaded the rom from samfirmware.com, flashed my tab correctly but still my android market doesnt show me country-specific-apps.
Baseband version: P7500XXKG7
Build number HMJ37 P7500XWKG9
I think its something to deal with changing and flashing CSC but I could not find any csc file to my ROM.
Does anyone can help me with that?
Sorry for dummy question... first time deal with samsung stuff.

What are the country specific apps you are looking for? You do know, I hope, that EUR refers to Greece, not Europe? (which is XEU)..

[Q] Root Samsung Galaxy Sll - Tombile

Hello everyone,
I recently got an upgrade though T-Mobile (in UK) for a Samsung Galaxy S2. Its simply awesome, but I'm a newbie to the Android OS. Hence I have very less knowledge as to what is happening with the android OS rooting, updating etc.
So on to the main topic, I got my phone (model GT-I9100) on 2.3.5 and the base band is I9100BOKJ1.
I would like to remove the T-Mobile branding and the other software which there installed have it.
So could someone please guide me though how I could root and update my firmware to Standard samsung with out the carriers crap installed and still use the phone with my carrier?
My phone is unlocked by default as another sim card works from another carrier.
Could someone walk me through step by step as to how i could root and update my firmware to standard and unlock the device Any help is much appreciated.
I have attached a screen shots of my x#1234#
Thanks.

[Q] Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i Flashing a stock firmware question/help!

Hello guys. Yes i'm a noob and i have tried desperately to find the info out myself but i'm getting myself SO confused, i hope someone can help me out a bit and clarify a few things for me.
I have a SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE GT-S5830i which is a United Kingdom model phone unlocked to all networks but it was getting very worn and tatty so i went out this morning and purchased a brand new SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE GT-S5830i phone (identical model) however this one came supplied as locked to the o2 network and is o2 branded on all the startup/shutdown screens.
I figured i could simply re-flash a stock firmware to it to lose all of the o2 branding and return it to the standard Samsung startup/shutdown screens (and possibly unlock the phone to all networks during the process but i'm not that bothered about doing that as it doesn't really matter to me)
On the handsets I have gone into SETTINGS> ABOUT PHONE> and the details are as follows:
Model Number: GT-S5830i
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: S5830iXXLK1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #1
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXLK3
...and these details are the same for both the old phone and the new o2 branded one.
Now then, here's where i'm at: when i do things i'm not only doing them to get to the 'end goal' but also to learn and educate myself along the way, but so much of the information out there assumes that you already know what they are talking about or is just too confusing as it doesn't explain enough. I have gotten myself very confused lol.
I want to be able to 'de-brand' the new phone so that it is just like the old one, and to do that i'd like to understand what i am doing a bit more, like the baseband version and build number (XXLK1 and XXLK3 are bpth quoted in the 'About Phone' menu) and i don't understand what file i should be downloading as all i can find is labelled as GT-S5830iXXLK3 so would this be the correct firmware for my handsets as i thought they were listed by Baseband (which is XXLK1 not XXLK3 but the bit in the phone's build number says XXLK3 even though the actual phone's Baseband says XXLK1) can you see why i am confused? lol!
I'd like to be as sure as i can be prior to flashing so i don't make any silly mistakes.
I have:
KIES software,
USB Drivers (i think)
ODIN v3.07 software,
Standard Samsung supplied USB cable,
Windows 7 32bit.
Can anyone help me to understand why the firmware sets are in several split files and help confirm which firmware i do actually need for the baseband type of my two handsets.
I'm also intending to make a backup of each phone prior to flashing so i hopefully do not brick any devices. Maybe i could even read the firmware of one phone and flash to the other? Perhaps i'll just stick to finding a suitable stock firmware and keep it simple
Any help, information, education is all appreciated, and i hope as a noob to the forum i haven't breached any set rules with this post (i don't think i have but you never know!)
Kindest regards,
Drew
United Kingdom.

read my thread or signature.
I have loaded KIES and got some more information:
On the older SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE GT-S5830i (unlocked to all networks) it says: PDA:LK3 / PHONE: LK1 / CSC: LK1 (BTU)
On the newer SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE GT-S5830i (locked and branded o2) it says: PDA:LK3 / PHONE: LK1 / CSC: LK1 (O2U)
So clearly i can see the difference here between the new phone with it's o2 network branded firmware, and assume that the only thing i need to change over on the new phone is the CSC part, which ODIN looks like it can do by simply adding a new CSC file in.
Anyway, i went to the SamMobile Firmware site and have downloaded:
GT-S5830i - United Kingdom - BTU
PDA: S5830IXXLK3
CSC: S5830IBTULK1
Version: 2.3.6
Date: 2012-11-23
...which gives me a zip file named: S5830IXXLK3_S5830IBTULK1_BTU.zip
Here's where i just got more confused lol... the thread you pointed me to gets a bit confusing as lots of people are posting allsorts on it, but am i right in thinking once i have that file i just downloaded i go into ODIN v3.07 and just add that file into the PDA section and then untick all the boxes? This seems a bit different to some of the other Odin instructions i have read where they say tick certain boexes and do this, do that etc...
This way seems to be involving reflashing the PDA, and PHONE sections maybe? Am i not just wanting to flash CSC parts? I am SO confused now.
Can anyone help clarify a little more? I can't quite see how you make a firmware backup using ODIN before proceeding to actual flashing. I'd like to make a backup first before i do anything

if you want only the UK one, search on sammobile.com, u might find it!
why do you want stock rom?
you could install firmwares of other countries but u "might" face network problems!
backup your imei via galaxy toolbox app if you do so!!
u could flash a custom rom!!

Flash South Korean SG-N865 with UK firmware, any risks?

Are there any risks associated with this like tripping knox?
Tablet is working fine just curious.
Thanks for reading
>>>Edit it should read SM-T865N in title. Could a MOD Please change it? If possible <<<
As far as I know, this does not trip knox.
I can confirm it does not trip Knox.
I flashed the latest available UK firmware listed on Sammobile.com
The rom was PDA T865XXU1ASH6, however it is a German rom. Or at least that is the first language coming up on a reboot and also the language used by the Samsung members app. Previously both were South Korean.
i took a chance i figured it out
i did removed all my accounts from the tablet (and remove Samsung account !!). did a factory reset.
my device was purchased in korea, making it the SM-T865N version
factory unlocked
came stock with this:
checked by calling *#1234#
AP: T865NKOU2ASL3
CP: T865NKOU2ASL3
CSC: T865NKOO2ASL3
i downloaded this firmware file:
T865XXU2ASL3_T865OLM2ASL3_XSA.zip
from:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-tab-s6-lte/firmware/#SM-T865
this is the United Kingdom firmware
i extracted it using 7zip.
put my tablet in download mode,
started ODIN, and loaded 4 files from the extracted firmware:
AP_T865XXU2ASL3_CL17437689_QB27772178_REV00_user_l ow_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS9.tar.md5
BL_T865XXU2ASL3_CL17437689_QB27772178_REV00_user_l ow_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_T865XXU2ASL3_CP14585667_CL17437689_QB27772178_R EV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC_OMC_OXM_T865OXM2ASL3_CL17437689_QB27772178_REV 00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
*****
i did not use:
HOME_CSC_OMC_OXM_T865OXM2ASL3_CL17437689_QB2777217 8_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
wanted to do a full wipe of all my settings and apps
i did not check any settings in ODIN.
Clicked Start, all went ok !!
its now an SM-T865
the weather app works, the downloads are faster, it has not dropped the wifi. cellular works as it should.
the only noticeable difference is with the phone app. there is no record the call button.
it also fixed the not connecting to the cell network unless it was in 3G only ... now works in lte/4G automatically
if i have any problems with it i will post again describing them. hopefully i never do
i will try
but down speed is bad
so
# 200505 1700 update
