Hi guys,
I have a Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon with a screen replaced recently. The problem is the screen only works after the phone is booted, if I let the screen turn off, it can't be waken up again. There's still backlight, vibration and all and I still hear sound. Which means the touch does work, only the screen doesn't display anything, just black. What can be the cause of this? Thanks everyone!
I have exactly the same problem on a Redmi Note 2. And this problem is not so rare because i found a few posts with same symptoms but i cannot find a fix. If you please find, please let me know.
Can I ask you something cause I'm a technician and I face similar problem not exactly the same. Were your screens bought with frame already glued and you face that issue? Usually such issues occur when they is no duct tape (sorry for my English) at the lcd flex cable where it folds under the frame or where the backlight circuit (I don't know the correct explanation in English I hope you understand). So I needed at my phone to replace the frame as well that's why I bought a lcd with frame (that of course was terribly glued). My issue is blacklight flickering when it wakes from sleep and if I push the edges it's ok. I have replaced a lot of note 3 LCDs without frame and I know that in all of them I had to put duct tape to make them work properly and without issues, I had only one for note 3 pro SE that was properly made. So I believe both your issues as well as mine have to do with that. If you have the broken ones, take apart the new and check side by side the flex cables and if you find exposed connections compared to the original just put duct tape.

Perhaps you might want to enlighten us as to which ROM are you using, and who is the manufacturer of the lcd display?

Hi, I'm using the Ressurection Remix ROM on Android 7.1.2, planning to update to Oreo soon with the Pixel Experience ROM. And the LCD manufacturer is Tralfagar.

Well, I don't know about Trafalgar - but if the new display is has an ebbg chipset, then you may have problems. There have been issues with ebbg displays and TWRP (when using custom ROMs - see for example https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...redmi-note-t3716706/post74815338#post74815338). Does everything work properly when you reboot to TWRP recovery? If not, then this may be the problem - and you may need to change your ROM to the latest MIUI releases.
I am facing same problem
I have redmi note5/5+, using custom rom (ion), I am facing same problem, changed lcd two time, tried with other roms, but nothing improved, did you find any solution.

Hello there,
Recently I had my digitizer replaced and since then, I am having very weird thing with the screen turning off as soon as I am making a phone call. I thought it was a light sensor but in winmo it seems to be working fine, makes the screen brighter or darker depending on light. I hope I was able to explain what the problem is.
What could it be?

Doesn't that basically mean your proximity sensor is working correctly?
The proximity sensor turns off the screen during a call when it senses something close to the sensor.

Have you checked your battery contacts (pins) when the battery is removed? If they are bent, they could lead to weird screen/phone shut-downs.
Did you replace the digitizer by yourself? Or did you have someone else (like a professional) replace it for you? Something might have happened to the electrical wiring, or there might be some small piece of dirt/object that got stuck in front of the proximity sensor.
Best wishes -- I hope you get this resolved.
Hi,
Digitizer had been fitted by technician, I said the same to him that its some sort of physical issue causing the screen to go off whilst making a call. Bathe suggested its a software problem. However, if somebody came across with this sort of issue please let me know how to fix it.

I've been having this issue myself for a while now, after first installing the latest norwegian rom straight from htc, and now using the energy rom. I haven't had any hardware in the phone replaced tho.
Hello i got a question about how the phone control screen voltage ? if anyone know that
Does the software in the phone control it ?
Or does the screen it self control how much voltage it need ?
Thanks

if by screen, you're talking about the digitiser, then the fact that people flashing Note 2 ROMs, kernels and recoveries can tell you (since they fried their digitiser chips) that the software controls voltage.
For the AMOLED display I am unsure but would hazard a guess it's also software, however, I've not seen anyone fry their display with Note 2 software.

Thanks for the fast reply Its because my screen just got very light last day. But they refuse to repair it cause i got custom rom installed cm mod 10.1
But im living in europa so they cant say the warranty is gone cause i rooted it and installed another rom.
So I just want to know if there next step will be "The rom damage your digitiser"
But if my rom should have damaged my digitiser, should it just be very light then ? or should it stop working 100% ?
After running cm mod 20 months this happen, and i got a friend with a stock s3 where this also happened.
digitizer is just th touch sensor, it's not the display
Hi,
After I switched to CM7 I started to experience unresponsive or crazy screen. By crazy I mean it's like touch screen calibration is somewhat screwed and it gets touches everywhere. When I turn off screen and on, it is gone. However it starts again after a while. I noticed that when I get my phone out of my pocket, it gets unresponsive. After I clean the surface and do on/off several times it fixes. Sometimes, it doesn't even get fixed so I have to restart the phone.
I also see that after a fresh ROM installation, issue does not appear frequently. After a while, it occurs quite often and my battery is drained as well. I doubt if that is an kernel issue or hardware. But since it drains the battery, it seems like a kernel issue. Have anyone faced a problem like this before?
Try the raindrop fix. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace your digitizer (or alternatively go back to stock ROM if the problem does not show up there).

Thanks ravilov, I didn't know about that. I downloaded and installed it. Problem doesn't seem to fade away but it usually gets frequent after few weeks. I will see what happens. As you said I'll try stock rom next and if that doesn't work either maybe it's time to change my phone.
Sorry to write to an old thread, but my problem is related.
So, after this craziness I wrote in my first post, my screen get totally unresponsive. I cannot use the phone. I decided to change the digitizer. However, the problem still exists even with brand new digitizer. I'm now wondering could it be due to front camera ribbon? I think that's where digitizer is attached to. Any ideas or suggestions on this?
Thanks!

I'm thinking of buying note 9 pro global (joyeuse), but I've been hearing it has some problems. I don't have problem with software bugs, but some people said it uses Tianma panel which has bleeding and image retention problem.
If it is a gardware bug, it'll cause problems. Can anyone guide.
Thank you

yes its a serious hardware fault, tianma panels have burn in issues + there is a WIFI related hardware issue as well, I made the mistake and bought the phone thinking these won't affect me and now I have to put up with a phone which loses wifi everytime it goes to sleep. SKIP THIS PHONE IF YOU CAN.

Mine doesn't have that issue. Did you try test with a different router? I have no screen issues other than slight bleed from the hole punch which is barely noticeable unless you look from a side angle on white background. I love this phone and have no complaints.

EDIT: Found it it's huaxing
Mine is a huaxing too, and I have no problems with it.
Also my WiFi is working normally with my router, but have read many comments complaining about the WiFi bug, most of them seems to use a router from Fritz.

I don't know which version you have but all Global note 9s and indian note 9 pros have the wifi issue, numerous threads @ Mi community and even on xda there is a thread with many pages. About the screen issue just google "Xiaomi note 9s screen burn in" you will see many videos about this.
Most people who are saying they don't have the problem may not be checking their router logs, because the issue is hard to notice on 11.0.8 and above firmwares, the phone disconnects from the wifi but reconnects automatically after a few seconds so the end user does not know whats going on ..... unless he checks the router logs or uses whatsapp web with this phone, whatsapp web will actually disconnect from the phone after its wifi 'disconnects' during standby...it may take 10 minutes or 40 or an hour but it happens its a well documented issue even the Mi community Moderator for 9S confirmed this as a "documented wide spread problem" but has not been able to give a confirmation if/when it will be resolved his last response mentioned waiting for MIUI12.

I have the EU version. Look I had similar issue with my previous Note 5 and Note 8 but it was fixed by not using that router. I plugged a cheap router in my main router as access point and never had the issue again. I'm 99% sure it's some routers that don't work well with Redmi phones. And as India had millions of people a lot of them will be using the same routers. That is why I asked if you tested on a different type of router so we can confirm

and do u u have this screen persistance on your panel?
FYI: Tested my joyeuse, manfucatured Aug 2020, with a Tianma display. Using a checkered pattern, full brightness, for up to 20 min. or so. No ghosting/image retnetion whatsoever.
I bought a note 9s with tianma panel with no lightbleed at the edges. There is also no lightbleed at the selfie camera cutout but on a white background I notice a slight area of reduced brightness (not grey but a little bit not as white as the general panel color) at the bottom part of the cutout. It is very small and curves with the cutout shape and I also have to look from an angle to notice it.
If I'm to nitpick, if i put on a white background and set brightness really high, i can notice some areas of slightly less brightness at the left and right bottom extremes extending about 0.2mm from the curved part. These are so far from anything that no app has any content there so it doesn't bother me. I also have to look at it from an offset angle (about 100°). Who uses their phone looking at it from this extreme angle? Like i said, the display issue is nitpicking.
I can't say anything about wifi because I'm mostly on 4G. That's a worse issue than the screen but apparently it could also be eliminated by changing wifi routers.
I bought mine (6+128 GB) for $200 and compared to other phone brands, this is a lot of phone for $200 so I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. This os my first Xiaomi phone and I'm already a fan.

I use Redmi Note 9s 6/128 vatiant and it does have screen burn. Whenever i play cod for a couple hours some of the buttons still appear and will appear for a few hours. I also read alot of Manga and the edges of the screen would turn yellowish/orangey on gray shades. Still not fixed and been suffering for months already. It's less visible on white screen but very apparent on gray ones
Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your help,
I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 4 snapdragon (mido), my problem is I face ghost touch. I have it in any AOSP android 11 roms and the original MIUI rom and it happens in every screen, even TWRP.
I tried every solution cleaning screen, disabling auto brightness, cleaning touch and LCD flat connector and so on. only solution that works is: using an electric igniter of a cigarette lighter I give a electric shock directly on the display, and it completely goes away, but for a while. then it slowly comes back again as if somehow static electricity builds up somewhere in touch screen.
Has anyone faced this problem, and is there any solution apart from changing LCD?
