Do you use a phone case? - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Why, or why not? Me persoanlly, not using a case, and love the feel of this phone. The phones big enough already, don't need to add any extra bulk. Also, the faux leather on the back is pretty grippy, so the phone doesn't feel slippery like the S4 I used to own. That thing required a case, otherwise it's too uncomfortable to use, and slips out easily.
Just have a tempered glass screen protector, and nothing else. This phone feels absolutely amazing without a case, and holds up pretty well as far as scratches and dings.
What say you, XDA?

Use ultra slim case..at least u not scratch phone frame too much..frame is hard to replace

[Q] How protected is your vibrant?

I personally love the feel of my vibrant without the silicon casing on but unfortunately, I have to go with it whenever I leave the house to protect it from knicks and knacks (plus I always seem to drop my phone...)
I have a screen protector (REALOOK) and a TPU case. I too like the way the phone feels and looks without a case but yea, it needs to be protected. My old G1 got bang up pretty bad by not using protection... LOL...
I've had my vibrant in a case since day one but still have scratches all over the body. I think the shiny plastic material is just scratch prone. If I had to do over I would have tried some of the clear body armor type product. Definitely love the bare feel, may just go without a case and hope replacement parts become available.

I have the stealthguards screen protector and battery cover protector. Both are mainly on there just for weight and grip and the front is also on to make my vibrant have a flush front.
Silicone = ****
polyurethane Is The Way To Go, Alot More Protective And A Better Fit For Your Phone
I rock mine naked. I had a hard clear case for my G1, but it really didn't do a whole lot of good and my screen didn't get scratched at all. The Vibrant has gorilla glass and you get a 2nd back cover out of the box so I decided to go without.
I've got a realook screen protector and the tmobile gel case.
My battery cover AND the faux metal bezel are pretty scratched up. Been in the case since day one, so I suspect the gel case scratches it. Go figure.
I honestly didn't like the bare feel. Too slippery and small, so now I have a rubber case in it. Fits like a glove and grips better while still sliding out of the pocket without sticking. And of course a screen protector. I kept one on my g1 since day one. Its beaten to hell, the lip part is cracked and the sdcard unmounts if you apply pressure but the screen is flawless lol

I use a Casemate Tough Case and have been using this style of case on all my phones for years. Usually Otterbox, but they took too long this time around so I gave the Casemate a try. I never drop my phone, but I have two kids under 5, so the cases are definitely tested from time to time. There are no better cases if you want real protection, IMO.

I've got the hard Body Glove case with the black rubberized back. I haven't tried any other cases because I really like this one. The phone just felt too fragile to me without a case, this gives it a little bulk and makes it feel a little more substantial.
No screen protector. I haven't seen the need for one. I'm not super careful with it either and will carry it in a pocket with keys and loose change pretty often. Been doing this for 2 months and no scratches on my screen. The screen is definitely pretty tough.
this is a $500 phone, and it's slippery. I drop **** all the time so i got the silicon case. it looks lumpy, but it's worth it.

Couldn't have said it better. I use the BG case, and love it -- the look, the kickstand, the added bulk. (The "naked" (ugh) phone is too thin to hold comfortably on a call; and others have said, it's slippery as hell.
I utilized the stealthguard front and back. So its practically naked.. but not naked

I'm amazed by the durability of the screen. I don't make it a habit of putting it in my pocket with anything inside, but when I have and cringed as I pulled it out expecting scratches, to my surprise no scratches.
As a rule, the harder the cover material, the more the shock will be transferred directly to the phone. The same for the sticker types which are more for protection against scratches.
I ended up buying a cover from tmo because the phone felt a little slippery by itself. Its made of silicone and think enough to absord some of the impact if it is dropped and us les likely to slip out of your hand.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I bought the tmo black silicone case. I really like it because it adds grip and gives the phone a more solid, quality feel. One thing I've noticed is if you take the back cover plate off too much...it gets loose and creaky. They really should have gone with the slide lock type.

I use a RealLook screen protector and one of these clear, hard cases:
http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=217139826
Super inexpensive (bought 2, 1 extra to have on-hand)! Been using clear hard cases like these since my MyTouch3G and I've dropped it (the MT3G) several times onto concrete without a single scratch or damage to the phone. The case took the brunt of the impact. Put a very small crack in it, but nothing else. Ended up replacing it anyway, but that was enough to make me buy them for the Vibrant now. I just don't get that sense of protection from a semi-thin silicone sleeve. Sort of like gluing a bunch of balloons to the exterior of your car and thinking it's going to protect you in a head-on collision. Just not buying it...

anyone else hate the otterbox?

I usually never had a problem with them, its usually what I buy when I upgrade. But now after taking it off. I really dislike it. That soft shock absorber thing that the phone rests on apparently melts to the phone if it gets too hot. Which it does frequently. I had to peel my phone out of the case and on the back was all the stickey residue covering the back of the phone. A pain to clean. Any recommendations for a case that protects, looks better, and doesn't melt?

Spigen slim armour is a decent case. It's not too big in your pocket, doesn't stick, and has 2 piece construction for decent shock absorption.
Ah, I've seen it. Looks pretty nice. Might just say screw it and go with zerolemon lol
Great case, but too dang bulky, i love my spigen case

I have always wondered why I dont see more people using body glove cases, I have been using them for years, they are slim, look good, good quality, protect the phone well and the price is good, there are alot of other good cases out there but I found the body glove case is just as good and runs about $15, alot less then most other good cases....otter boxes suck, they are bulky as hell and never liked them, I had one a few years ago on a phone and got rid of it, my work gives me an I-phone to use and aside from the phone being a piece of s**t they make me keep an otter box on it, it makes the phone even more of a piece of s**t, LOL.....
Hahaha yeah I feel it. I took mine off my of DNA cause it just felt ****ty and I ended up shattering that phone but I have it on the g3 only because I don't wanna destroy this. I rarely drop my phones too but it only takes that one unlucky time. I shall buy dis new case
I had this case for a while and liked it...http://www.bestbuy.com/site/platinu...lack/7251018.p?id=1219260610755&skuId=7251018
I've now got the spigen slim armor and overall I like it....however the slicker back makes it not sit still when laid flat on a table or something, and the volume cutout sucks imho. But other than that a solid choice.
I picked up the Body Glove Rise case today at Walmart. I had a Body Glove on my last phone (RAZR HD) and it worked well. Dropped the phone (RAZR that is) once or twice and no damage or anything to the phone. One drop was face down and the bezel protection really did it's job. Overall, I like this case as it doesn't add much bulk at all so it still fits in my pocket comfortably. Haven't dropped the G3 yet and hopefully, never will, but this case gives me a sense of protection that I didn't have when the phone was naked. Doesn't mean I'll be less careful with it. On the contrary, I'll still continue to be cognizant of maintaining a firm grip on the phone at all times, but at least I have a better chance of the phone surviving a drop with the case than without it.
It looks nice too and now I feel like I have a better grip on the phone.
Which case did you get, the defender or the symmetry? I got the defender, and yeah, great protection, but makes the phone way too big. I was wondering if the symmetry was a little less cumbersome.
I've used otterbox commuter cases in the past and loved them, but this phone is so damn big already, I'm looking for recommendations myself.

Sent from my LG G3
My son had his LG g3 in the OtterBox for some time, I took it out of the OtterBox to put a QI receiver on the back to surprise him for Christmas by having his phone on a QI charger when he woke up. The edges all the way around the phone or severely scuffed for the inside of that case. Not the front or the back, just the edges. He's not using that case anymore.
This is the one I'm using, similar to the OtterBox, but much nicer.

I have had many cases on the g3, from Incipo, spigen, off brand cheapos and now the Defender from Otterbox. It definitely adds bulk, but by far the most protection. I feel better now, peace of mind I suppose.
Loved the slim armor spigen, but it scratches like crazy!
The Spigen Slim Armor is nice, but mine has issues with popping out of the corners sometimes. Theres a case called the Hyperion thats nice too. Dual layer but just not as protective

Well I just bought the blue Otterbox Defender for my new G3 and I like it so far. I just wish the rubber outer layer was the soft silicone rubber instead of the harder rubber but it'll do.

Case or no case?

My S6 edge will be arriving in under a week and just want to know your thoughts. I've never really put a case on a phone, but this is 1. Hugely expensive and 2. Looks a bit fragile.
I just think cases add bulk and make the phone look terrible... But if I do drop it I don't want it to smash to pieces.
Sent from my HTC One M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I always put a slim case on my phones. The Edge seems a lot more fragile than my old S3, especially with the glass back, so this was a must for me. I also dislike bulk which is why I hate otterboxes, but a thin protective barrier is better than letting the phone fall (or land) unprotected IMHO. I usually opt for the soft TPU cases. I bought a Spigen tough for my edge and I've been enjoying it so far. It doesn't add too much bulk.
This thing is too slippery to use without a case and with the back made of glass, I put a case on it. I used a Spigen Neo Hybrid. Very slim case and gives you a bit of grip, doesn't add bulk to phone. Works with wireless charger too.
Here is a brief review of the Sammy clear bumper...
Cant get much more minimal but among all the cases I've owned I would vote it least likely to succeed in a drop but there are other factors.
The phone doesn't lose any pretty to my eyes and it does get the phone off the table both screen side and camera wart side by about .00001 millimeters. Another thing I noticed is the phone when naked is actually thin enough combined with the sloping sides along the long edges both on the screen and back side to make it so that it isn't easy to pick up off the table. Not that its hard but I had to pay just an itsy bit of attention to doing it, adding the case gives me just enough to turn it back into the ordinary thoughtless process of picking up a phone. The case is about as slippery as the phone itself but it does feel quite a bit less like it might squirt out of my hands as it acts to flatten out the curve on the back side edges which it fills it in slightly giving me more area on the to grip. This flattening out of the underside along the long edges also plays into comfort when holding the phone in landscape for extended periods. Other than that the only thing I can note is that my anus felt a little stretched forking over 30 bucks for it which I'm guessing is north of 90% profit. Still for now it is the only case I've found that leaves the pretty while at least protecting it for ordinary use wear if not drops.

My Opinon on the Orzly Case Line

Disclaimer : I do not benefit in any way for saying anything good or bad about these products. I am giving you guys my honest opinion on these cases to help provide some assistance on buying a case.
Let’s start with the first case I bought from them.
Orzly Flexicase (Clear)
Link to the case: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072MZCQB6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_v8mFzb704M66R
Price :£12.99
Things I like: Simple case, adds much need grip to the OnePlus5. Doesn't detract from the overall phones aesthetic or feel. , Good lip around the camera bump and the front.
Things of concern: It's a simple case, it's mainly there to prevent scratches. Not going to protect your phone from anything major
Comments: I really like this case, there is a craft to a making something simple and effective and this is it. No fancy features it just protects your phone from scratches, adds grip and protects from small drops. It doesn't over stay it's welcome and I congratulate on that.
I was happy with my purchase at the price I paid but since it has gone down. I think anyone wanting a simple case you can't really go wrong with this.
Also like to note, I haven't had problems with any holes in the case. Some people on other forums have asked me about the quality of the finish. No evident problems with the finish of my case.

Orzly Wallet Case (Black)
Link to the case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072QV1VRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_qInFzbCVEWP0X
Price: £14.99
Things I like: Protects the screen while it’s closed, Magnet keeps the wallet closed well, Effective card slots and pocket slot, Effective stand, I like the case that holds the phone in the wallet, not too bulky.
Things of concern: It’s a wallet case, people either love them or hate them.
Comments: I had this case for my HTC 10 and they have improved this case immensely. Now having three card slots instead of two allows me to take my bank card, ID and my public transport card without having to double up in the slots (That can create further issues). The main issue with last years was the case that held the phone in place. Last year was a hard shell, now throughout my time working with phones, more than half of wallet cases I have seen have broken inner shells because they use a hard shell inside. This year they have basically taken the great Flexicase design and used it as the holder for the wallet case. That was a great move and make the wallet case great.
For a wallet case, this is a solid wallet case. You can’t really go wrong with it.

Orzly Slim Stand Case
Link to the case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073S7BWQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Price:£12.99
Things I like: THIS THING IS SLIM, the case itself may be the lowest profile case I have used on the OnePlus5, The stand can withstand a lot, stand can be rotated in different ways.
Things of concern: This case may not work with some in-car phone holders, the stand bulges out and made it hard for my vent holder to hold it.
Comments: I picked up this case because I was intrigued. I didn’t think I would like it but I really did! The case has a really nice soft touch finish and provides protection for the camera bump which is surprising as the case is really low profile , it provides a very small lip on the front so it may or may not protect the phone from if you put your phone screen down. The case doesn’t really take much away from the buttons which is nice.
The ring stand is really handy, A couple of times I’ve used it. I do find myself playing with the ring stand itself and hanging my phone off my finger, the case fits very well I can trust that my phone will stay there hanging. The stand really is quite strong. I can put a lot of force on the stand and it didn’t feel like it would break, (I have posted a video demoing that) The things I would say is that I would like the stand to have different standing points, it would be nice to have the phone to stand at different angles, while this isn’t a major thing, I thought I’d point it out.
I really like this case, nuff said.

Orzly Fusion Case
Link to the case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072MPYX9Y/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Price: £9.99
Things I like: Not bulky, feels like it would protect the case.
Things of concern: Can’t think of anything…
Comments: This is the case I have on my OnePlus5, I really like it. It’s like the FlexiCase but better. This honestly feels like this case has been designed by someone who’s wanting a make a case for themselves. There is extra grip points around parts of the case which your hand is in contact with. That’s a smart move. There is some little feet on the back around the clear back, this is a expert level move from Orzly, clear plastic scratches easily by doing this the plastic clear back from the ground. The clear back is quite hard and seems like it could withstand a drop, this is the motto of this case: it’s solid.

Comments About Orzly
One thing I have noticed is Orzly has revamped their packaging. It’s more like you would see in a shop and has nice little touches to them. Having a little tab to pull to open the box and having nice information (To read on the toilet obviously) adds to the over. Here is some photos : http://imgur.com/a/vZ4eu

Thanks so much for this. I agree with the flexicase and slim case, both have been great for me and I have already used the stand on the slim case for a train journey. Worked out great. I am looking forward to receiving my fusion bumper case from the reviews both you and niijonodhg have been giving!
Thanks for your review. Can't decide between slim stand and fusion case. I don't like a lot of bulk as the phone itself isn't the smallest one and I like to keep the look of it. Generally I'm very very careful with my phones but
Unfortunately I already cracked my screen (first time ever). Currently in repair.

Ouch hopefully you get it back soon! As for the slim case, it has virtually no screen protection but the stand is very useful and it is also a grippy case. You can put your finger in the ring part while your using it to help you stop dropping it.

Yes you do make it harder ?. I never used cases mainly for protection but more for the extra grip but dropping my OP5 makes me reconsider this. But when I dropped it I didn't have any case installed so it was pretty slippy. Maybe I try both cases as they are not that expensive .

Getting both of them might be a good option. My favorite is the fusion but the slim case is really good. The slim case adds grip to the phone without much bulk or extraprotection where as the fusion is really grippy as well as adding more protection.

I also received mine today and I completely agree with everything.
I had the Ringke case on my Nexus 6P, which had the same type of back plastic and I know for a fact it does not yellow over time.
I also have a dBrand skin on my phone, and the case fit perfectly over it with no hassle at all. Dragon Skin with Orange Logo and Camera Cutout.
I also have the Orzly Tempered glass installed and the case fits perfectly around the glass as it should... Since it's from the same company.

Found the perfect bumper case for the P30

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07NQDGF3H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Super slim, very nice matte texture, makes it less slippery, feels super nice in hand, and the matte effect works really nice with the colour of the phone's back. I had a thicker, clear TPU case before, and this one is SO much nicer.
Do you use gesture navigation with it? How is it working for you when using the Back gesture from the dge?
I got the following one:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07P7N8444/
What annoys me a bit is for the Back gesture I have to apply sufficient pressure to ensure it correctly register as coming from the edge. Not major, but a bit annoying - I get a few of failed detections now and then.
This is the first time I ever felt the need to buy a case/bumper. And it's not even to protect it, but because without one, that 100% glass phone is WAY too slippery for me to feel safe holding it in one hand. My old Nexus 4 was also made of glass, but the sides didn't feel that slippery.
I am using this case and its so good . It doesn't really bothers me when using gestures ! It doesn't make the edges of the screen like using a bumper . And it's cheap !

I'm not using gestures currently but I doubt the memumi case would interfere. It's considerably slimmer than those TPU cases (I had the same ESR case before, coincidentally) and only touches the edges of the screen ever so slightly. What's more, it doesn't actually stick out above the screen at all. I am also using a glass screen protector, though, so that gives my screen a little extra height as well.

That looks interesting! Definitely seems like a viable alternative.
I ordered the Aliexpress case since it was really cheap (and I had an extra rebate as a first-time Aliexpress customer).
Will know in 4-5 weeks if it works better than the ESR for gesture handling...

Hello, very nice case
One question, the edges are soft silicone? The typical thick silicone? I really like that kind of silicone because I think it's what best protects

Yes , it's hard silicone but it's a mix of plastic and silicone . It's nice to the touch .
I received the bumper from Ali. While it's slightly more slippery than my previous silicon bumper (but still nowhere as bad as the bare glass case of the phone itself), it's definitely less problematic with side gestures than my original bumper, and it also looks more discrete. Overall a very good purchase, especially at that price.
Are there any ACTUAL bumper only cases? Meaning that it only goes around the edges only and leaves the front/back open? I'm not worried about dropping the phone, I just don't want it to be so slippery. So I want something I can stick on the edge to give me some friction so I can hold it without sliding out of my hand. (With my usual grip, the phone keeps sliding out of my hand.
The bumper should be wide enough so that I can sit it down either way on a table without the camera bump or front screen touching the table.
I'm using the Spigen ultra clear bumper case.
Good fit, looks like good protection, although I havent dropped it yet. There is a lip around the front screen for protection, not too pronounced so just perfect.
Fit and cutout looks spot on.

There probably is. But let's be honest: The Huawei P30 sucks without a proper case. Way to slippery, uneven and really fragile. I couldn't use it without a case, they really ****ed up the design to some extent..
Yes it is very slippery, but that's what the bumper is for, to make it less slippery.
I ended up finding a decent one. The RhinoShield CrashGuard
Whats the best black case for the P30, where the back is completely flush so it sits good and flat on a table?
Thin cover (I wanted this) with rubber inside for thickness. does not dance on the table. I can't attach photos
Roxx Case
Best case I found so far.
