Was wondering if anyone has flashed their T Mobile snapdragon firmware to the USA unlocked firmware?
Any pros or cons?

I cant be bothered going through 778 pages of ****e concering all other region versions when there is already a T Mobile specific forum created here. Hence why I asked this question in this forum. But thanks for the link, appreciate it.:good:
I'm running a Verizon firmware of all things as it still is on the exploitable bootloader. It has the December patch if you're wondering. It's one of the modded files that's on the SamFail page.

What's your firmware number?
P7500ODFLB1
or
P7500ODTLB1
Hi,
Firmware is showing neither, probably because i am on an overcome rom
Keis says PDA:LB1 /PHONE:KI1 /CSC:LAI (ITV)
Thanks again, and I know I put this accidentally in the wrong section, if the mods want to move it, no problem

So... i'm having a few problems with the 3G/HDSPA signal on my GS3. I flashed to like 6 different ROMs and all of them have TERRIBLE connection performance. It only works well when I flash to the stock firmware (CSC I9300UVCALE4).
Is this possible or am I tripping? Second, can I use the ROM I want and just change the CSC to that one?
Thanks
Yes you can.

I know of that method, but, will it work with a custom ROM? I mean, it probably has like 1 CSC.
My CSC will not be there.
Haven't tried because the phone is charging, but it doesn't seem logic to me...
Anyways, will do a search in the forums. Thanks.

I saw that many custom ROMs include an even larger list of CSCs than the stock SAM ROM but please correct if I am wrong.
Usually it should at least include the CSCs of that specific region.
You could try and just go into that menu and check what CSCs are included in yours.

The best & easiest way for you to root your S3 is by using SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 TOOLKIT.

If i use cf root to root my galaxy s3 i9300 will i be able to flash a custom rom? It says that the cf root was intended to be used with stock firmware in the main thread. Also how safe is it? If i follow the steps exactly as instructed what are the chances the phone will brick?
Thanks

Yes you will.
It means it is meant to be used to root a stock Rom, after that you can do what you like. Cf root is extremely safe if you follow the instructions, which are very simple. If you do that you won't brick your phone

Thanks for your quick reply. I have one more question though. Does it matter that my phone is locked and carrier branded? I always thought it had to be fully unlocked and unbranded to root and stuff. Thanks!

No, you only need to unlock if you want to use a different network, won't affect it otherwise
My question is after rooting and not changing anything else will you still be able to get the updates. I remember with the bionic I cou ld but not with the tbolt.
are you carrier branded as in US Carrier branded or something else?
If you're talking about a US Carrier branded phone, then you're in the wrong place. This is specifically for the i9300, not any other version. There are appropriate forums for your specific phone.
If you do have the i9300, then do as slaphead says. you're all set.

Oopsie daisy.... I could've sworn I read the whole thread from start to end.. Not sure how I missed that..
I think the word "carrier branded" set of red flags in my head since I was only recently reading about someone who tried to flash an i9300 rom with their sprint s3.
just wanted to make sure and not have to see another brick.

I want to unroot my GS3, but I'm not sure what the latest Samsung, factory ROM is that works on my device. Excuse my ignorance, but the ROMs in this link make reference to them being for or from the Europe region? If I'm using a phone on Sprint from the US, bought in the US, would it be a different ROM?
Thanks!

No. This method gives a recovery that could allow the phone to get bricked. It is no longer supported
OP, please read "[ref] read before rooting" in my signature first.

really? do you believe that you're the first person to ask for a rooting guide? you're not, which means you shouldn't have posted, but instead followed one of the guides on xda, which are easily found. hell, there's a link on the section list page.

Depends when you rooted. The bug was only identified in November and fixes only released in January

Really you should follow an xda guide, no point in linking to another site....if you have a query about their method you should address them, I can guarantee their method is copy/paste or rewrite of an xda post anyway.

Hi there,
You might want to check out samsung galaxy III toolkit here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488.
It is a fairly easy to understand command tool which will root your phone and also install custom recovery (which is essential IMO if you want to try different ROMs later on).
