Help a Hardbricked LG G5 - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Okay!
So I bought an already used LG G5 Sprint LS990 and it was locked.
I took it to a store to unlock via a software and it worked after putting my sim.
Then, the phone became very hot and went off. It refused coming on. It was more like a hardbrick. It doesn't come on. No recovery or download mode. No display on the screen when I plug in the charger (the phone just feels warm after a while). Also, when I plug it to the computer, there is no connection sound and I checked device manager, it doesn't show anything. No Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 or BULK whatever...
I got tired of trying. So I abandoned the phone for about a month.
Last week, I plugged it in again and omg! It showed the battery icon and it was at 0%.
I left it to charge to 100% and I put it on. It got stuck on the Sprint Splash screen and went into a bootloop.
I removed the battery and reinserted it. Now it won't come on again. It's back to being hardbricked.
I even bought a new battery just incase but it didn't work.
It still doesn't connect to the PC.
I don't know what to do.
Can anyone please help?

I sincerely don't know. The worst moment i had with a LG phone was a fastboot screen. Isn't there any youtube tutorial for g5 or at least for another phone?

Hey.
I got it fixed, using the weirdest method ever:
By cleaning the panel with petrol and heating it with soldering iron.

[Q] No reaction from phone whats however

I've got my awesome galaxy s3 for about 4 months now.
I'm still using the stock firmware and I rooted it a few weeks ago.
Today, the phone battery was at about 95%, it suddenly completely stopped working in any way.
No led flashes or turns on when I plug it in to charge. No reaction when I turn it on. No reaction from my pc when I plug it in.
I also tried ODIN/ download mode and whatever there is left. No reaction at all.
Also, the ODIN tool doesnt see the phone and the pc doesnt(device manager).
I hope anyone can help me

I have exactly the same problem, I have ordered a jig to see if i can get into download mode. I am told this could be a motherboard problem though.
I have changed my screen so i do not think samsung will fix it under warranty
May Sound Stupid... but have you taken the battery out and left it for a minute then put it back in?
sure have. Have done everthing, charged overnight, took battery out for an hour, tried different battery.
I took it to a repair shop in a shopping center and they said they think the motherboard is dead

Jup, tried that too, no change
Same thing happened to me too... Phone suddenly died. Still waiting for the jig. If not then service warranty for us is the best thing we can do.
Here's a update on my phone.
I tried to use a jig, a friend on mine had one, but no change there either. So I send my phone to samsung with the warranty. I was a little scared here because I rooted my phone. A few days back I luckely got a message that my phone was returned. Apparantly, it was broken so badly thay they didnt found out it was rooted. ^^
They replaced my motherboard and I never found out what was wrong, probably something fried...

P760 wont turn on, wont charge

Out of the blue, phone went dead. I dont know why really. It honestly didnt get any moisture, or bad current, I never charged it via USB. I have drained it couple of times to zero battery but it charged after that. this time, it was at 22% wen I went to sleep, in the morning it was dead.
I know that this issue always resolves with: "use warranty" suggestions but I tried, and being that I live in a weird country that wont happen. Generic answers like "water damage" with the sticker still white and all that.
ADB doesnt see the phone, also.
anything anyone has to suggest other than telling me phone is dead (obvious) and to use warranty (which I cant) .. ? Please help, this is my first LG and maybe there is a solution that works
Have you tried :
hard reset - turn off your phone, press and hold Vol-, the home key, and the power for 8 seconds.
or
fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119090
Will try it in the morning (6-7 hours) as I hafe dissasembled and analzed the whole device internaly for possible rust or theoretical moisture from cold weather. Found None. Really hope this device isnt one of those that just die for no reason
battery might have gone dead. get it charged externally for few minutes and then try charging with phone. if it works for first time, then its time to change battery.
well, this is just a possibility.
for all you people, if you ever get in same situation:
Phone was moisture damaged. I didnt get it wet, but there are 2 possibilities:
1. a friend told me that all the shipped phones, compared to the air cargo phones, get damaged no matter how good protection is. If they are shipped to your country from the land of origin, they are most probably water damaged already. Being that I live in Serbia, and all the importers of goods use ships instead of air cargo (big price difference), my phone may be water damaged before ever turned on.
2. it was a ridiculous weather in Belgrade, with minus temperatures in March, so a simple condensation may have damaged the phone.
SOLUTION:
Service shops CAN repair the phone if it was moisture damaged instead of immersed, because air moisture damages only certain electrical circuits, instead of the whole board. My phone is at a service shop now, and the guy is inspecting the damaged circuit. It can be restored, and if the damage is high it would require replacement of the circuit which is kinda tricky cause it requires very similar board like the one LG L9 has, for harvesting.
If anyone maybe somehow finds a working SIM free motherboard for LG L9, please let me know cause I cant find it online. Just one ebay entry with "works but has issue" which I wont buy.

I've bricked L0 P760 also - suddenly turned off and can't charging anymore(tried another good battery but didnt help).
I've followed some instructions from xda a tried everything (on 3 PC's - win7 and XP) but no joy.
Installed unified Lg driver, OMAP drivers (but problems with them is constantly switching on/off), started Fastboot by Lelus on my pc,
followed instructions and fastboot worked fine, installed Lg USB Port(changed to 41), then opened Lg Flash Tool and after 40 seconds
Lg USB Port disconnect by its own...
Tried with Lg Mobile Support Tool too and UpTestEX_mod2_marwin but still same problem - Lg USB port disconnected after some time.
Any ideas?

Not a battery issue. Tried different batteries. Thanks!
Thanks!
LG Optimus L9 P769 is not charging
My LG Optimus L9 P769 is not charging. I have used the same charger on other phones and it works. I removed the battery and charged it on an external charger and the phone works normally other than not charging.
I have done a hard reset after turning off the phone and pressing and holding Vol-, the home key, and the power for 8 seconds but that did not help!
As a last resort, I also replaced the Flex Cable Charging Port and Flex Cable Dock Connector using the part on the attached image but the phone still does not charge.
Can anyone suggest what I may do next to repair the phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dead i545

My friend gave me his phone to troubleshoot, but I'm at a loss.
It is a completely stock i545, never flashed or rooted.
The phone is a spare, without service. He told me his phone was sitting in a drawer for a while, with Wifi off. He turned on the screen and saw the battery was at 1%, so he plugged it in. He turned on Wifi, and the Play Store started updating the apps automatically. Then the phone just shut off.
After that, nothing that we've tried works. We've tried leaving the phone plugged in to charge, charging the battery in another phone, and using a different charged battery, but there's still absolutely no response. The screen doesn't turn on at all. The phone will not enter download mode either, nor is there any error message.
From quick reading, it sounds like this is worse than a hard brick. I'm thinking it may be a hardware issue, and JTAG won't help.
Is there anything I've missed?
TIA
When you plug your phone into the computer do you have anything like QHUSB_DLOAD in device manager ?

No. The screen doesn't light up at all either.
If the computer doesn't recognize it then it's likely that the phone just died all together

That's what I was afraid of. Thank you.

Phone shows Mi logo for 1 second and then turns off. Need help.

My RN3 turns on, shows the Mi logo for 1-1.5s and then turns off. It's two years and old has been like this since a year (unused).
Last year I remember trying everything but in vain. Is there any way to revive it? I can get to the fastboot but not anything else.
Last year I took it to the SC and they said the motherboard is dead. But I doubt that is the case.

I've seen this before, it looks like a bad battery. It can not handle the high boot up current required for Android stage but is good enough to run fastboot. Sometimes it may boot Android if (2 Amp) charger is connected while turning it on.

Damn man! You're the man! It's been lying unused since a freaking year!
I tried with my S7 Edge charger and it turned on. Turns off if I unplug it.
Can't believe the SC told me to replace the mobo.
Shall I get a battery off eBay? Is it easy to replace the battery by myself?

Cool! Xiaomi phones are very easy to disassemble and you'll find instructions on YouTube. As for eBay battery replacement, it is hit or miss because "old smartphone batteries are simply stripped of their labels and covered in new ones, then resold online". If you choose a 99%+ eBay seller, it should be OK. Also check AliExpress, where individual product's reviews and rankings are posted.

Did you mod your phone?
Try to enter fastboot, if you can it's locked bootloader, if you can't it might be the battery.

P20 Lite won't turn on anymore, red LED blinking

Last Friday (24.09.2021) I changed my phone's battery. I cleaned my phone, somehow some alchool entered in the charging port then I plugged it in like an idiot. Luckly nothing else broke except the charging port so I ordered a new one. The phone was working fine at the time and I could have used it normally, just no charging.
Today I finally got it, switched it, tried to turn it on and it wasn't turning on. I put it to charge, expecting my battery to be just empty, and I see the red LED blinking and the screen wasn't turning on at all. At first I thought that it was just a faulty battery and I tried my old one, same results. I had an old P9 lite lying around so I decided to test my battery and it worked.
I'm worried that somehow I broke it even further and I won't be able to retrive my photos and important files back. Is there any way to fix it?

I think the only way to save your data is to extract the data from the emmc module and install it on a new motherboard (maybe I'm wrong, I'm not an expert). Ask the service center. But complete motherboard replacement is too expensive if you don't have a phone warranty...

Hi. It might be very very late, it's been one year since you posted this. But the exact same thing happened to me. Turns out you simply just need to force enter recovery, charge it a bit, maybe 5 minutes or so, then reboot.
Here's how I did that:
Back cover open.
Unplug battery.
[Be careful of static electricity]
Plug charger. The phone turns on.
Wait until it enters recovery mode.
Plug battery. Yes, in the phone on, recovery mode state.
Wait around 5 minutes.
Reboot.
If you can enter the main screen, wait a bit to see whether the battery is charging or not (the percentage goes up). If it's charging, then you can put everything back again.
If the phone stays dead when you plugged it with the battery unplugged, then maybe it's another hardware issue..

Thanks for replying, but unfortunately the problem still remains even after trying that. The furthest I could get is into recovery mode.
Bought a new phone a long time ago anyways, so it's no longer needed.
