Charging slowly le max 2 - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi, wanna ask, my le max 2 had some problembwith charging.
Maybe someone can solve or give solution, while charging i had notification on bottom screen said "charging slowly". I used application Ampere to see how many ampere i get when charge, about 1300. i tried charging with many charge and usb cable support qc 3.0 (tronsmart, anker, aukey) but same slowly charging. I used aicp 8.1
Maybe someone can help. Thx

Probably your USB port is dying.

Sometimes (very rare) I had the same problem.
Most time a reboot solved the problem for me (I think the software didn't recognize the ability to charge faster / with more ampere).

Reasons for battery icon flashing/blinking while charging

Donno if its the regular case of 'bad usb port'. It's happening only when I'm charging with specific car charger (1A, output 5V) sometimes its charging fine, sometimes I notice its stop charge and the icon of battery is blinking/flashing...
I've tried to clean the usb cable and port from dust, maybe the cable got some dust into it?
Also I've notice that the temperature of device goes down to 22°C when its happening...
At any other chargers (include othe car chargers and other wall chargers) there is no problem at all...
What could be the reason of this specific car charger (it used to work without any problem the last few months ago)?
High/Low voltage? Dust?
maybe other problem with my device? (Battery/something else)
BTW - when I plug the charger out when its happening its stop blinking.
could you please give us a screenshot?

From reading your post, it only happens with that one charger....any other charger works as expected?
That being the case.....it ain't your phone or the USB port/board in the phone.....
Chargers DO fail, and from my experience, dc to dc step down transformers and circuitry (the type in your car charger) have a higher failure rate than their ac to dc (mains) equivalents. ....
Time to buy a new car charger methinks

@wishmas7er - which screenshot mate? when its happens all I see is blinking/flashing battery icon, without any other message or something else about it.
@keithross39 - correctly mate, all other charger (any kind of them) works just fine.
Yeah seems like its the car charger problem, just first time i've notice it...
Thanks!
BTW - the reason of 'bad touch' while charging with some generic chargers is because higher amperage then should be to this device's battery? or other reason?
As long as the amperage is not ludicrously high or low, the only noticeable difference would be the charge time.....other than that there should be no noticable effect....

Battery Icon Flashing with Samsung Galaxy S4 Car Charger
I had the same problem charging my Galaxy S4 in the car. AC charging works fine but when plugged into the DC car charger the battery indicator icon flashed rather than showing the lightning bolt.
I purchased a higher voltage DC charger adapter, same symptom.
Finally I swapped out the USB-to-micro cable and now it works fine. I suspect that in the car the phone gets jarred over time and it wears down the micro-USB connector.
It's not just you fella........
The micro USB socket idea is (imo) a pathetically fragile arrangement for what the manufacturers intend it to do. I've repaired two phones with worn out sockets, and judging by what I am reading on XDA, it is an issue that is getting more and more common.........

So I'm experiencing the same blinking problem with my note 4. Each time the lightning icon blinks the phone vibrates in sync with it. And ithe galena with all charges. I have to keep unplugging and replugging ...and OCCASIONALLY it charges. I don't know what's the problem

I have same problem with my nexus 4.
After some googling I came across an app called Ampere.
This app tells you how much rate of current your battery is charging at.
So what i found is that when phone gets old the battery doesnt hold up charge as before. So the charge rate becomes slow. The nexus charger is rated at 1Amp and at the time of charging is able to provide low current than the rate at which the battery is draining. So the Android gets confused between charging and discharging.
For eg: if phone is charging at 300mA and draining at 350mA.
Also the battery draining rate is constantly changing. So when its greater than charging rate phone shows discharging and if less : charging...
Fix: There are three fixes which i can think ...
1) Get a higher Amp rated charger...
2) while charging close most of apps , dont play games , switch to a lower gen network like 2g , close wifi , close data which will reduce the discharge rate of the battery.
3) Get a new battery.
So I'm experiencing the almost the same blinking problem with my note 4. Each time the lightning icon blinks the phone vibrates in sync with it. It won't come on it won't reboot I've tried everything BUT replace the battery because if I plug it up it'll vibrate and blink but nothing else works. It's completely black when it's unplugged.

Inconsistent charging speed

Hello,
Lately I've been having a weird issue with charging my I9300 device:
When I charge the device using the charger (which is original, by Samsung) , sometimes it takes a huge amount of time to charge, and if I also use the device (even for simple things) it actually drains the battery instead of charging it.
I've installed "Galaxy charging current" app, which also shows weird results:
When I have this issue, the average/maximum value is about 400mA or even 100mA , but when I disconnect the USB from the device and reconnect it, the values can change to 900 or 999 or even a bit higher.
My device is running on CM rom version "11-20140612-NIGHTLY-i9300" .
I'm not sure if it's related to the rom , the kernel or something about the hardware.
I've checked the battery status by going to a hidden (?) setting (using my app btw) of "Testing"->"Battery information", and saw that for "battery health", it says "Good". Attached a screenshot of what I see.
Can anyone please help?
Also, is there maybe an app that can warn me when the device is being charged yet it has the battery being drained? Or maybe give me an estimated time till the battery will finish being charged? I also hope that such an app won't drain the battery by itself...
This behaviour is caused due to the inbuilt charging protection mechanisms.
Its usually the cable. Samsung one is known to be crappy. Get a proper one and try.
If you are still experiencing issues plug it in to a different port. Front panel USB ports are sometimes too weak to supply high currents

Is it possible it's just the cable and not the charger?
I thought that cables are "stupid" .
EDIT: that's weird.
I tried 2 other cables: an old one of LG, and a new one of Chromecast. Both showed about 460mA in the app, no matter how many times I re-connected the device to them.
I've also tried to connect the Samsung's USB to the computer's front USB, and it gave me 400mA, but I think this is more expected.
Do you think that using a different new USB cable will solve it? or maybe it's the charger?
EDIT: just tried a new Samsung USB, and it seems to work just fine.
I didn't know USB cables are so different.
i olso had problem with charging..stock charger ...slow charging and battery drain on charge ....it was a problem with wall charge unit ...i used other phone's charger but max on that was 700 mAh and phone charged normaly.(but slowly)..now again my stock charger is working again plus i have 2m cable aftermarket ....can that be a softvare issue...if unit isn't good than it souldn't charge now normaly

HDX 7 charge very slow

Hi all, I have problem with my HDX 7 Unlock BL and Recovery TWRP 3.0.0.
About from ten days up to now, my HDX 7 charge very slow with any charge HTC, Xiaomi, LG (I can not try with original HDX Charge which due to loss it some months ago). I use CM 12.1 dated 10 Jun 16 and also try all CM11 roms. When plug charge to HDX, I check information in Battery section of Setting that has report "charging by USB" but few seconds next change status to "not charging" and again and again.
What is the problem? How can I fix it?
Many thanks any comments.

My kindle charge slow and PC won't detect.
I have the problem that PC can't detect my kindle hdx7. And my tablet charges slowly with wall charger.
This is because one day I charged it with my Quick Charger 2.0. I think that was the reason, and charging circuit has been damaged.
Is it be a real cause?
Does any one has the solution?

Highly doubt the charging circuit is damaged. Nor is it likely a visit with the Quick Charger triggered the anomaly. Far more probable is a problem with the USB cable and/or the USB socket on the HDX. Loose connectors are common especially if care is not taken when plugging/unplugging. Lack of a data connection support this opinion.
Reboot your HDX and try a different USB cable. What is the wall charger rating (should be on the back represented in mAh)? 3rd gen HDX devices can accept charge rates up to 1800 mAH although using a 'stronger' charger won't hurt provided the voltage rating is the industry standard 5V.
Hi
Thanks Davey126
.
I purchased this tab from a local shop. I tested it on shop, everything was fine.
But when I bring home, and I connected it with my Sony QC 2.0 and I observed charging was slow. I ignored it.
Next day I connect with my pc to copy some movies, but computer didn't respond. I tested my tab with different data cables and on another PC, but no success. Then I did Factory reset, but no difference.
.
I went to shop and got exchange the tab. At shop I tested charging, and PC connectivity. Everything was working fine at there.
I got back home, and again connected with my QC 2.0 charger (until then i did not know the cause). This time I see tab show SLOW charging.
I connected to my PC, same issue, no any detection. Tab only show charging when connected to PC. I repeated all possibilities again to resolve the issue.
At last, I assumed that it was because it may be due to miscommunication between device and charger, and maybe 9V damaged the charging circuit of the Tab.

The Quick Charge standard allows for connection to older devices that do not support QC technology. In that case the charger should limit output to 5V as a significantly higher voltage would likely damage the charging circuit. Either the HDX did not communicate its capabilities properly or the charger cranked up the voltage when it should have remained at 5V.
The maximum charge rate for 3rd gen HDX device is ~9 watts (5V x 1.8A). Yet many vendors target this device for 18W+ QC 2.0 chargers that supposedly reduce charge times by 50% (they won't). Despite the faux claims there does not appear to be widespread complains of device damage. It would appear your Sony 2.0 QC charger may be defective.

Thank you for your concern and collect info about HDX7.
I am a little-known of Quick Charger mechanism. "9V or 12V and 5V". QC 3.0, 4 or 4+. [A Quick Charger does not damage a normal 5V device.]
I charge all my home devices with Sony UHC10 quick charger. I think my charger is working normal as I do not see any abnormal behavior of it.
.
I can not find any other reason to damage my Tab.
Now my question is that, "is there any (alternative) way to resolve slow charging, also PC sync.
Thank you again!

Recommend acquiring a 'standard' 5V wall charger with a 2A minimum rating. This will permit your HDX to charge at the maximum rate (~1.8A) assuming the USB cable is in good shape. Performing this test will help determine if the charging circuit in your device is operating properly.
Most computers/laptops can only deliver a fraction of the maximum charge rate: ~0.5A for USB2 ports; ~0.9A for USB3.

After realizing this problem I am using 2.1A branded charger, but still slow charging.
With Ampere app it shows max 280mA (same as UHC10). It means it is charging at standard rate of 500mA.
Changing the cables does not make any difference. (I have ANKER data cable)
THANKS

Anker cables have a solid reputation. That said, I would double check with another cable.
If cable and charger seem ok then it boils down to termination points (USB connections {should be snug}), imbedded charging circuit and/or kernel. There is nothing you can do about the kernel on a stock HDX. Nor can the charging circuit be repaired short of main/daughter board replacement.
Long shot suggestion: fully power down device and restart after 5-10 seconds. This will insure the bootloader/kernel are fully reset.
BTW - info I provided on QC standards and HDX capabilities are primarily from direct experience backed up by supporting documentation. This isn't just theoretical - I have a handful of HDX devices along with numerous USB meters as charging circuit efficiency (and deficiencies) is something of a personal interest.
@Davey126
Thank you very much
And big thumbs up :good:
I'll try it tonight and then update you as earlier as possible.
@Davey126
I drained my tab battery and then recharge it again but no difference. It woke up after 5 minutes. Still very low rate charging. Ampere app shows 280mAh maximum.
Meanwhile I brought my cousin's (same) tab. With 2.1A it shows +1500mAh on Ampere app. I drained it's battery, and when started charging, it was charging normally. Again in Ampere app @ +1500mAh.
.
I do not want to damage it's charging circuit. So I will not connect it with Sony UHC10.
So it is clear that charging circuit is damaged,in my tab.
If I find any solution, I'll share it here. Till then I'll use it by charging whole night (for 6 hours) everyday. Because it takes 6 to 8 hours to charge 100%.
.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Quickcharge Issues

Anyone else having any problems with charging? My supplied QC 3.0 charger has developed issues - it usually charges OK, but if it has been recently used it seems to completely stop working for a while. I think that's a problem with the charger rather than the phone because when it stops working it also won't charge other devices. I also have a problem with an Aukey QC3.0 power bank that I recently bought. It charges my phone fine if I turn off fast charging in battery settings on the phone, but if fast charging is on it only charges while the screen is on. As soon as the screen goes off, it completely stops charging (and the lock screen comes back on).
Both the above problems have occurred regardless of which ROM I have installed.
Edit: power bank is actually working now, but that might be because phone battery is already over 90% so it is not trying to draw fast charge levels of current. Will have to try again when the battery is below 70%.
Hello. My phone is also fast charging only while screen is off but it's rather normal. The first issue I did not encounter. I have so far only supplied charger. Of course quick charging works more efficiently at lower levels of battery. I have a USB meter that shows max about 21 Watts approx 7.8 V x 2.8 A.

Don't think there is any way to know what kind of charging it is doing on this phone (unlike my Zenfone 2, which tells you both on the status bar battery icon and with a verbose message on the lock screen). My problem with the power bank is that if fast charging is enabled in the phone settings, it won't charge at all once the screen goes off.
Just confirmed that with the phone battery at about 40% and fast charging enabled, the power bank is unable to charge the phone (stops a couple of seconds after the screen goes off). I tried charging my Zenfone 2 with it (QC 2.0 compatible) and it fast charges properly. This suggests there is some problem with my phone (or the Le Max2 generally?) rather than the power bank

Not seen it, but I'd hazard a guess that our phone is not on the list? Anyway, I think the included LeEco charger (mine at least) has issues, and given the fast charging incompatability with my Aukey power bank, I am thinking the QC 3.0 charging on the phone is not following standards correctly. My after-market QC 2.0 charger, however, works flawlessly with the phone - so if buying after-market chargers or power banks I guess it is safer to stick to QC 2.0 certified ones instead of 3.0, or alternatively just stick to regular slow charging.

Unfortunately, you are right, probably the phone only supports Quick charge 2.0, in web specifications I only found QC 2.0 support. But this don't explain this problem with stop charging when screen goes off
So, I have one Aukey charger compatible with 3.0 too, and I am waiting only my le max 2 arrive for test. In next 10 days I will back here and tell you what happened!

Did you guys ever suspect the cable?
My wife's S6Edge+ had suddenly started to charge very slow with the original charger and cable. After reading on the specific forum, few others were complaining of the same and as a result, she changed the cable with an older Sony cable which worked perfectly. No mater what, the original cable was charging the phone slow if not fast charge which was fast as before.

I have the problem with the power bank whether I use the cable that came with the phone or the cable that came with the power bank. Neither will charge the phone with quick charging enabled and the screen off.
The longer the cable, the less power will perform.. thats useally the case.
same with wire thickness in the cable, some of these extreme cheap cables on AliE got such crappy thinmetal-wires in the cable that it can not transfer all that power it should and will act like a bottleneck.
*the same with these intelligent powercables, that either cuts off when phone is filled, or show a sign like an light-diode in USB plug that are changing colors to tell that the battery is full. (close to all of such intelligent cables ewen some of the high qual-ones, are extrenely limited in power-drawing and most cant ewen manage 1.5amp in std 5v USB and most are under 1.0amp in the amount of power these cable can deliver, and often some plug-cirquit inside the cable there is limiting the amp quite a bit, and so the cable is able to sense when the battery if full and give signal.
Same with those cables where there is an ampmeter/voltmeter on the cable itself, those cables is also strugling to deliver more then +1amp.
that is all in regards tojust plain 5v and it just get ewen worse when trying to perfom quick-charge currents..
Not sure what cable your trying on, but if your going around the original, its good money to purchase an good plain QCvalid USBcable without features from an brand there is known for being able to deliver the power, the 18watt QC in theory can perform is quite a bit and need some metalwiring for the power to flow .
Not charging at all
Hi, I have a problem with charging my Lemax 2. I found similar issues described on other forums, even on youtube.
Long story short: it won't charge, LED blinks twice when on charger, then stops.. Tried different cgargers, cables- nothing works.
Any ideas?

Slow charging issue.

I am posting here for first time. This issue was present when I got this device then one day I flashed ancient os rom and elinder kernel . Surprisingly my device started charging fast full in about 2 hours. After that I changed the rom to colt os 6.0 without elinder kernel. Same full charge in 2 hours . After few random reboots and about a weeks usage I decide to install evolution X for which I took the usb out of the charger and put it in my laptop to transfer the file. After flashing I put it back in the charger and checked charging current it was around 300-400ma about 4% charge in 10 mins. I restored my backup but no avail. Then I flashed havoc os 3.5 I get 4%/10 mins but after I install ancient os I get around 32%/ hour . If please anyone would help me it would mean a lot thanks . And I really hate 4 hours charging time.
I'm aslo stucked:highfive:
Try charging with original charger and USB cable, if you are already charging with original one try with different USB and charger.
See if there is any lint or dust in charging port or USB cable that may also slow downs the charging.
Try flashing elinder kernel again.
Clean flash again (do backup everything)
And lastly it might be related to battery since device is already 4 years old(not sure about your device's age). lithium ion battery does degrade over time so that might be causing slow charging.
sometime i do also get slow charging but thats related to USB cable in my case, i need to adjust USB in specific direction to charge fast. but weird thing is i use same USB and charger in other devices and it charges with good speed without any USB adjustments.
Fix
If any one is wondering if i fixed the issue yes i did seems that if i use a 9v 1.5a charger the phone charges to 90% in 1 hour 40 min on ancient os 3.5. using any other charger delivers only about 800ma and my phone charges in 3 hours. I have also tried samsung a71 28 watt charger but the phones does not charge even 1% in 5 minutes using that charger.

Kenzo is strictly made for 5V 2A charging. If u keep on using high volt charger then u will blow diode on charging board and will stop charging.
