Hi,
I have a galaxy s3 with a broken display and locked screen.
Is there a way to access the files by connecting it to PC?
Only found this method:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...how-to-unlock-android-lockscreen-pin-t3619871
but it requires to put a .zip on the sd card which is not possible (usb connection not activated at the phone)
thank you very much
edit: phone is not rooted

As a result of a car accident I lost the ability to connect my Himalaya using the USB cradle. The data port on the phones board was completely smashed. I had it repaired only to allow my xdaII to recharge from it's power adapter but not from the cradle, that's how I lost all usb functionality.
Now I've previously read some methods and instructions on how to upgrade the xdaII using some modified rom files which are then stored on a SD-Card and then installed from the bootloader without the use of a USB connection.
Can anyone here tell me exactly how this is done ? What are the steps needed to convert the available rom files on this site to a format that would work from the sd-card ? I would also like to know, whether this method supports upgrading the radio and the extended rom in addition to the windows rom ?
Your help and assistance on this matter will be highly appreciated. As I can no longer upgrade my phone using the usb method. I will be depending on your help you guys. I've got faith in u, so don't let me down.
I also want to know it! Please help!!
Find another xda2 that has a working USB connection, insert your SD card in it, and use the attached file to copy the rom to your sd card. Then place the sd card in your xda2 go to boot loader mode and that is it.
The only problem is that whenever you want to change the rom version you will have to use another xda2 that has a working usb to transfere the rom image on your sd card.
Good morning to all! I have problems with my wallaby, when I turn on the unit, the blue O2 screen displays then goes white (with a small keyboard display on the right-down side).
I performed hard reset and entered the bootloader mode, shows "gsm error". I have tried the "gsm-error" fix by Sir LumpiStefan but I can't seem to copy the files to my card via card reader. I might not be doing things right.
1. How do I correctly install ROM v1.1 via sd card and bootloader?
2. What files do I need to copy?
3. Could mmc be used instead of sd?
4. Do I just need to re-flash the ROM? Or do I need to re-install bootloader? I have a 5.17 bootloader in my wallaby.
I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance guys!
Hi!
this is my firts post here!.
here is my question: accidentially i broke my phone's screen and i need to rescue mi contacts data. is it possible to recover all the internal memory data using a usb cable without using the phone screen??
i'll wait for your answers!! thanks
I doubt you can transfer internal stuffs to USB, not without some app and root, most likely.
Why not use the trackball? Get creative, I'm sure it can be done...somehow.
Maybe can try this. Android Screencast
But there is some limitation if your ROM is not rooted. If you already rooted, you can use mouse/keyboard to control your phone via PC. Steps to perform this can be found in that page.
Friend dropped his GS3 and screen is dead but phone works as evidenced by sounds and button lights, will have it repaired but we want to recover files from internal SD card first (precious kid pics on holiday last week wouldn't you know)
I can boot the phone into recovery and connect via adb, but can not seem to mount the internal SD, presumably since phone was never rooted.
Without rooting (which would void the warranty he oh so needs to use) is there a way to mount and pull files? Or am I barking up a fallen tree?
All help appreciated!

If it switches on still then let it switch on and simply connect your phone to your windows pc and wait till MTP services pops up with your internal and external devices. Then you can just recover your files.. Your phone should be detected automatically on your pc..
Apologies but I should have described the problem more, plugging it into Windows does not trigger mtp mode, android file transfer does not see a device on Mac, and Kies sees a locked device we can not seem to unlock via the dead screen...

If he has set up his dropbox account they may have synced automatically and be stored online. Log in via pc and check.

Hi all,
A friend of mine dropped in June his Galaxy s3 and broke the screen. It should be all stock (no root and no usb debug) and the software version should be the 4.1.1 or 4.1.2. He said to me that two days before the accident he deleted some files (pictures) and want them back again. The pictures should be recoverable (with recuva) but i don't know how to access to the phone. When i turn in on the screen is black but the phone seem to work because when i plug it into usb i can access (in mtp mode) to the internal and external memory as usual. Is there any chance to control the phone via PC and then root it and check "usb debug", and if not is there another way?
thank a lot
none can help?
