First of all, Hello guys!
I wanted to share a problem that I'm facing with. My cousin had a some oldy samsung duos phone(cant remember exact model). So he used it for business. He has over 3400 contacts in it. He got a new phone, and now he asked me to transfer his data, documents etc to the new phone(which I did). Everything went fine expect contacts. I used laptop and MobileGo by Wondershare application to do a manual back of everything he needed. When I exported all the contacts to a .vcf file. He had 3476 contacts al togheter. When I imported that .vcf file to a new phone(also samsung j5 j500), it said that import finished successfully but there are only 978 contacts. There were some duplicate(on the old samsung as well, but not as much to lower contact list from 3400+ to <1000).
He isn't that much into phones,so he didnt use sync option to sync with gmail or something similar.
Can you guys help me,please? I ran out of ideas how to fix this..
Best regards,
Nikola

Hi all,
My father recently bought a Samsung Galaxy s II from At&T and is in the process of transitioning between jobs. He's had a Blackberry work phone since 2000 so he is looking to transfer all the contacts. The only problem is the firm wiped the Blackberry before they gave it to him. He has all of his outlook contacts, which is the bulk of what he needed anyway, saved in a zip file (Well he says its a zip file I havent seen it yet to confirm) attached to an email he sent himself. So my first question is: is there an easy way to transfer the zip of contacts to his phone and have them show up in his contacts list? If not or if its not actually a zip file, could we in theory transfer the contacts to a spreadsheet and then get that on the phone? Any help would be great, thanks guys

Probably easiest to import them to Google Contacts on a computer, then sync to the phone.
You're in the wrong forum btw, you'd want

Hey!
My friend just bought a Samsung Galaxy S2, and soon he faced a weird problem; All contacts had 3 duplicates(four numbers total/contact)!
I tried to batch delete them with Samsung's contacts app, but for some reason, they weren't gone! I also tried Go Contacts, but the problem still existed.
The phone is completely stock.
Any help appreciated!
I had a similar problem. I backed everything up/synced to Google contacts. Then I removed the duplicates in Google (on a PC), then synced the contacts back to the phone.
You can merge contacts in Google which should take care of many of the duplicates, but for some reason it isn't perfect & there will be some (there might be a lot) you'll have to delete manually.
I don't see any reason why you can't do this with a phone running stock.
Thanks. I will tell him. I also wondered how can this problem exist on a completely stock phone.
you wont have duplicates in google not i would think anyway .. on ur ph u would prolly be seeing Ph contacts sim contacts and google contacts.. just delete ph and sim contacts, best to stick with google ones as each time u buy new ph first thing u can do is log into ur google account and have them back in minutes..
pretty sure there is a checkbox on which one u want to use , make sure all 3 are not checked maybe..
pretty sure if you go into one of the menus there is an option of which contacts to display, i usually pick sim only and that fixes it
Hi, I have this graet device, but I noticed that it has some little problem of youth.
One of this, that one because I write, is That I can't anymore tag my photos in gallery.
This new function is great fom me, and I tagged all my old photos the first day that I bought the device. All was ok.
Some days ago I have some trouble with the address book so i put the phone i Aero, delete all my contacs and with My Backup Pro I re-install all my contacts, agenda and call list. All works .
But when I tried to sync the device with google (I have all the contacts on my google account) started the problems.
All my tag was lost and and I am unable to add even one more!
I go in gallery, I see the yellow square on the face, I click on it, the phone sends me in contacts, I choose the right contact ... but the phone returns to the gallery without having done anything !!
Now to solve I flash my phone with ALE6 ITV firmware and all goes well.
I re-tag all my photo but after two days I have another problem with the contacts and I redid the same procedure as before with My backup pro last version .
My contact was well but for the second time I loose my tags and I can't tag my photos anymore !!!
I realized that the problem is related with the synchronization of contacts on google, but can not find the solution.
Can anyone help me, without having to erase everything?
So after 2 years on the HTC Aria, two phones are swapped (not literally since still have the Aria's) for Samsung Galaxy S3.
One of the HTC Aria's uses Gmail to save/sync contacts so it will automatically update phone contacts, the other has always stored phones/names in the phone itself.
Both Aria's are rooted.
What's the simplest way to save the phone contacts and bring them into the Samsung ? Since there is no SIM card on the new Android device, can't use a SIM card to transfer over. Export to a .vcf file on the SDCard does work but can the Samsung import contacts from there ?
Any suggestions ?
Will answer this myself in case it helps someone else.
I installed Android Sync Manager from marketplace, setup WiFi on home router, downloaded to laptop the PC app and contacts were transferred over as comma delimited file which I can import to Samsung device.

Importing the .vcf file should work. It's a basic standard, not something "aria-specific" or even "android-specific"
.vcf file is standard. It would work on any phones running Android OS.
Hi There all. new to the site. I just received an elephone p9000 today and when i tried to set it up and sync my contacts and details from my old device to my new one. (had a samsung galaxy s4mini)
It allows me to add my google account and says that it has synced. but when i go to my contacts list there is nothing. it does not ask me if I would like to restore the data from a previous device or anything like that. (I have also tried to setup/restore to a xperia z3 with the same account and it works no problem.) . Also I am having problems finding some freeware to do a simple back up and restore. It seems as if now days you have to pay to do it. this was my backup idea as the syncing was not working.
any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
