Phone contacts, import to other Android device - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So after 2 years on the HTC Aria, two phones are swapped (not literally since still have the Aria's) for Samsung Galaxy S3.
One of the HTC Aria's uses Gmail to save/sync contacts so it will automatically update phone contacts, the other has always stored phones/names in the phone itself.
Both Aria's are rooted.
What's the simplest way to save the phone contacts and bring them into the Samsung ? Since there is no SIM card on the new Android device, can't use a SIM card to transfer over. Export to a .vcf file on the SDCard does work but can the Samsung import contacts from there ?
Any suggestions ?

Will answer this myself in case it helps someone else.
I installed Android Sync Manager from marketplace, setup WiFi on home router, downloaded to laptop the PC app and contacts were transferred over as comma delimited file which I can import to Samsung device.

Importing the .vcf file should work. It's a basic standard, not something "aria-specific" or even "android-specific"

.vcf file is standard. It would work on any phones running Android OS.

[Q] Contacts question!

Hello!
I just bought a vibrant (bell) loaded with android 2.2 from a friend of mine, using it with rogers, I used to have a SE x10a. I made a mistake and didnt backup my contacts to my SIM, but I have a recent backup on the SDcard when it was in my x10. I was wondering if there's a way to import those contacts from the SDcard, onto my vibrant.
Is there a way?
Thanks.
You have a Vibrant with 2.2?
There are a number of ways to do it.
If you've got all your contacts on the SD card, yeah, just import on your new phone.
I recently migrated from a Blackberry and the way I did it was to export my Blackberry contacts to Gmail and then sync Gmail contacts on my new Vibrant. You should have it even easier because you can just sync on your Xperia, switch out sim to Vibrant and sync contacts there. If you've got all your contacts on the SD card, yeah, just import on your new phone.
D'oh, double post!

[Q] how to save contacts to sim on Mozart ...

Hi,
How to save to my phone contacts (all or one by one) to my sim card so if i use my sim in another phone I get my contacts as well?
cheers...
Any body facing same issue
I don't think that is possible. You can copy the sim contacts to your phone so they can be synced to Windows Live but not the other way around.
You have to remember that WP7 is a very cloud based mobile OS...
thanks for reply, but its a basic feature that SIM can be used in other phones and not every phone syns with cloud or with outlook. so need transfer some important contact on SIM so these are always there. any other way transferring contacts from Mozart to other phone e.g. Motorola or Nokia. Bluetooth?
cheerss
I understand that other phones can do that, but WP7 is not other phones and right now it cannot be done. Sometimes missed features on the OS can be complemented with an app, Have you tried that?
Bluetooth is not supported either, at least not right now. You have an easy way to pass contacts to other phones, since WP7 is cloud based, you can manage all that stuff through the internet! Just go to your Hotmail contacts or Gmail contacts (or others, Outlook, Yahoo, etc) and export them in a format that you can import on other phones.
Agreed that WP7 is really at it's early stages and loads of features are missed e.g tethering
but my problem is that i use my SIM in some other phone while on roaming and that phone is a basic Motorola phone, not connected to internet and just for calls and sms. now how to transfer contacts to that phone? I only know the way of transferring contancts via SIM or bluetooth. any suggestion?
cheers...
Try to see if you can connect your phone to your computer and manage the contacts via motorola software or other. Also check if you can import contacts directly in your phone (nokias can do this). If you import via PC or phone you can export the contacts from the internet and then import them on the phone.
actually my other phone is a very basic Motorola L2. so need soem straight forward method to copy contacts.
But one thing strange, copying/saving contacts to SIM used to be a standard feature always. does this mean that in future we won't be having any SIM memory?
cheers...
I have no clue if this would be added to WP7 on future updates, but i don't really need it, as smartphones in gereral are more and more cloud based, and WP7 is even more cloud based than iOS or Android for instance.
Bringing old query again
any app out there that can copy the contacts to the SIM on HTC Mozart?
Hi, old query again.
is there any method even after Mango upgrade, to copy contents from my HTC Mozart to the SIM?
I don't understand why we cannot copy our contacts on windows phone to the sim card.
Its a cloud based OS and its supposed to send and receive your info from online accounts like Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail and others.
Maybe on homebrew someone will be doing it

[Q] How to copy contacts to GT-P7500

How can I copy all my contacts from my Galaxy S GT-I9000 to my GT-P7500? I need both my phone and SIM contacts.
Thanx.
What I did on my galaxy 3, but should work on all Samsung phones is: on contacts go to options then export to sd. A folder named external_sd will be created on the sd containing your contacts as 00001.vcf file. Copy them to your PC, then the tab, or sent them with bluetooth directly to the tab. Then on the tab go to contacts>options and finally import from sd. Find your file and click ok.
Hope I helped. I'm actually getting the tab on Wednesday and not 100% sure if it works that way.
sent from my CM7 nokia 3210
Thanx. Actually I forgot that I was able to import directly from the sim card so I took the sim from my SGS, loaded it into my tab and then simply imported from the sim to my tab.
PS. I love Pink Floyd too!
If you sync your contacts with google they should just be there when you sign in to your google account. Just like apps.

Import Contacts

Hi all,
My father recently bought a Samsung Galaxy s II from At&T and is in the process of transitioning between jobs. He's had a Blackberry work phone since 2000 so he is looking to transfer all the contacts. The only problem is the firm wiped the Blackberry before they gave it to him. He has all of his outlook contacts, which is the bulk of what he needed anyway, saved in a zip file (Well he says its a zip file I havent seen it yet to confirm) attached to an email he sent himself. So my first question is: is there an easy way to transfer the zip of contacts to his phone and have them show up in his contacts list? If not or if its not actually a zip file, could we in theory transfer the contacts to a spreadsheet and then get that on the phone? Any help would be great, thanks guys
Jared
Probably easiest to import them to Google Contacts on a computer, then sync to the phone.

.vcf not importing all the contacts

First of all, Hello guys!
I wanted to share a problem that I'm facing with. My cousin had a some oldy samsung duos phone(cant remember exact model). So he used it for business. He has over 3400 contacts in it. He got a new phone, and now he asked me to transfer his data, documents etc to the new phone(which I did). Everything went fine expect contacts. I used laptop and MobileGo by Wondershare application to do a manual back of everything he needed. When I exported all the contacts to a .vcf file. He had 3476 contacts al togheter. When I imported that .vcf file to a new phone(also samsung j5 j500), it said that import finished successfully but there are only 978 contacts. There were some duplicate(on the old samsung as well, but not as much to lower contact list from 3400+ to <1000).
He isn't that much into phones,so he didnt use sync option to sync with gmail or something similar.
Can you guys help me,please? I ran out of ideas how to fix this..
Best regards,
Nikola
