[GUIDE][HOW-TO] Revive Xiaomi Mi3 from being totally bricked - Mi 3 General

Disclaimer: I did this on a Mi3, although it might work for other Xiaomi devices. Don't blame me if it ends up blowing your device into pieces.
So after years of service, my Mi3 gave out. No blinking lights, screen won't turn on, and download/fastboot mode wouldn't work. Connecting the phone showed an unrecognized USB device. Thought that I would just let it go already, but the fixer in me couldn't help but try.
And amazingly, it's now brought back to life! Here's what I did:
Step 1: Download the flash tool and fastboot rom here http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Step 2: Install the flash tool along with the drivers in the program
Step 3: Disassemble your device until you have access to the motherboard and battery. You will need a few tools for this. A small hook or a flat screw along with a thin but sturdy card (like a credit card) can pop the back cover open. Here's a good disassembly guide. http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/xiaomi-mi3-disassembly/
Step 4: Remove the plug of the battery from the motherboard. DON'T CONNECT IT YET (Refer to the image attached below)
Step 5: Remove and then connect the USB from the motherboard. The port might not be properly connected. (Refer to the image attached below)
Step 6: Connect your phone to your computer via USB while the battery isn't plugged. Check device manager, click on "ports" and then check if it says "Qualcomm HS -USB QDLoader 9008" If so, you're on the right track.
Step 7: Extract the Fastboot rom you downloaded. Make sure that you've extracted it to the very core. You should see an "image" folder along with a couple of files.
Step 8: Open Miflash with admin rights and then go to the fastboot folder. NOTE: Do not choose the image folder. Choose the previous folder with cancro...
Step 9: Choose "save user data" at the bottom. You can try clean all, although choosing this kept giving me a hello packet error.
Step 10: Click refresh and the COM port should show up which should match the one you saw in device manager. If so start the flash. Mine took about 170 seconds.
Step11: After the flash succeeds, unplug the phone and then reconnect the battery to the motherboard. Then connect the phone to a charger and check if it works. A red blinking light might appear and that's okay. Just leave it plugged for a while and it should start charging normally. Charge it until it's full and then boot up!
I reassembled my phone after I was sure it can boot. It's working pretty well now! Cheers!

Connecting the phone showed an unrecognized USB device
U can just flash in mi flash in this case

Hello, I'm stuck in nearly same situation with my Mi3. Phone neither gets recognised by PC, neither gets charged (When connected to charger, red light blinks and goes).
And my phone's internal is full of data which I don't want to lose. By flashing fastboot rom, will it erase all data ?

[Q] LG Optimus L9 P760 dead?

Hi,
I have installed inappropriate version of CWM on my L9. Now it won't boot at all. When I press and hold power button to start the device, it stucks in a loop like this:
1. Short vibration.
2. LG logo screen appears for a second.
3. Black screen for another 3 seconds.
1. Vibration occurs again...
2. LG logo... etc
Situation above describes a behavior of the phone, which is disconnected from any wires.
Now when I plug shutted down device into USB port to Windows 7 PC, following mess happens:
1.Computer beeps like, USB device is connected.
2.Phone vibrates shortly.
3.Phone shows LG logo for a sec.
4.Phone shows black screen for 3 seconds.
5.Computer beeps like USB is disconnected.
... and again, and again.
Adb nor fastboot doesn't recognize any device (it did, before I have installed that wrong version of CWM, so USB drivers are OK I guess).
I tried hard reset, LG update tools, LGMobile support tool and of course I spent a whole day by searching this forum for any solution. I found similiar cases to mine (continuous beeps like Windows is detecting plugging and unplugging USB device), but this seems to be quite different because of continuous restarting of the phone, so the PC doesn't have a time to initiate USB device.
I would be really greatful for any help. Thanks
Edit: Problem SOLVED!
I solved it by following:
1. Download omap4boot from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971014
2. Install driver for continuously plugging/unplugging phone in windows device manager (use omap4boot-for_optimus-v1.21\usb_drv_windows folder for search driver). Install it while the device is connected to PC.
3. Run command line and navigate to the omap4boot-for_optimus-v1.21 folder and run start_fastboot.bat.
4. Disconnect phone from PC.
5. Select 3. item Prada (works for L9 P760).
6. When prompted, connect turned off phone to the PC.
7. When promted to fastboot devices, choose Yes. Device should be found now. At this point you have approximately 3 minutes (device should stop restarting itself for a while) to do the rest.
8. Run another command line (do not close current one), navigate to android platform-tools and run fastboot flash recovery command with appropriate CWM img file. File can be downloaded here http://mobotalks.com/android/how-to-unlock-the-bootloader-and-install-cwm-recovery-on-lg-optimus-l9-ultimate-guide/
Done.

Lenovo P780 - Won't boot

Hi All,
Have seen the numerous posts on this forum for the Lenovo P780, but cannot for the life of me get mine to work again
Model: P780 4GB (believe it is the Chinese version as when I first started it, Android was in Chinese (hence me trying to replace the ROM).
Here are the symptoms:
Black screen, won't power on, cannot even get into factory reset mode.
Tried the reset button on the back of the phone (some say 3-5 seconds others say 20 seconds - Tried both, nothing!).
Tried to fix the problem by doing the following:
Download the SP Flash Tools version 5.1352.01 and ran them on my Windows 7 Machine as Administrator.
Loaded the P780_ROW_S226_4GB_KIT_KAT (as this is what I thought would do the trick.)
Selected the MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt file and then Firmware Upgrade set, then hit download, connected the phone to the laptop (red light on the phone), SP Flash Tool then goes to 100% Download DA (in red), and then the message "Unrecognized ROM detected".
That's it nothing else. Can't power on the phone.
Any advice help would be appreciated before I throw this phone through a window!!!
Thanks,
Mak.

Hi Stympy,
I have managed to get an Android ROM installed on the P780. Details are:
Android version 4.2.1
Build: P780_S136_140306
The only problem now is that the rear camera does not work, and have been told that trying to install a non-standard ROM could have blown the rear camera.
As I am not experienced with flashing these (or any other types of smartphones), I have no idea if this is correct.
Any advice would be appreciated.

troubleshoot your excelvan mt10 tablet

This might be a long situp to write this, but i've experienced that a lot of the excelvan users do not really know, where to get support for their device. I've bought this device because the price was low. And so is the quality. It is assembled with a JTY mt10 smarphone mainboard, connected to a 10,1'' touch display.
I've bricked the device and getting help to retrieve it back to life was a pain. No support from excelvan, so I've experimented with it, to find the best possible solutions. In order to help you save time on rechearching this issue, I'll now post this, hoping it helps you getting the tablet back to life and running.
Notice: this is for excelvan mt 10 tablet only. I have no idea, if this works for any other product, so don't ask me, just look around the forum to find help. If the real hardware is bricked, this won't work either, your device should be repaired by qualified service persons to proceed with this.
1 setup your pc to get started.
I've installed the following software on my windows 10 desktop pc:
- The MTK Droid tools, links are supplied by this forum
- The MTK Sp Flash tool, you'll find links for that in this forum or get it from mediatek
- Philz recovery, use google to find it
- Kingo Root, you'll find it at the kingo root home page
- The Mediatek VCOM USB Drivers for Windows 10 (As for my PC) at Mediatek.
- The stock rom for excelvan mt10 tablet, you'll find it on needrom, download for registered users only
Installation of the software on your pc is straight forward, just follow the on-screen installation instructions and you'll be good to go.
Probably your device is bricked already, so no further action needs to be taken on your device.
The first thing you'll have to do is to see, if your drivers can connect to the device. To achieve this, follow the procedure below.
1. After setting up the drivers package, connect the device to your PC, using original USB cable. There are a lot of cables around there, but please use the original provided cable, as it is not sure, that other cables have all pins connected for this, so do yourself a favour...
2 Go to the device manager in your pc and look for your phone's name or the mediatek VCOM driver to run. If the device is booted up, you'll find them, if your device is bricked, you'll have to initiate the META mode of the 6572, to establish the connection. Luckily, the device has a reset button, so if it is bricked, you'll need to connect it to your PC, open up the device manager and press the reset button. (I've opened the device the very first time, to unsolder the battery leads, but I didn't know then, that there was a reset button...) The reset button is located between the micro USB and the Headset connectors on the right upper side of the device, the little hole there, use an insulated papar clamp to press it. In the device manager, you will see the driver popping up and after a short time, shut down. This is normal operation, sometimes it starts reconnecting over and over again, but that's allright.
3. First, you should try to get the preloader back on the system. This is very useful, many devices are bricked by shooting off the preloader. Open up SP Flash Tool, load the scatter file from the unzipped stock rom image for the device. You'll see the used blocks and partitions used by the software in the right pane of the flashtools program. Uncheck all blocks first, then click the checkbox at the 'Preloader', the first entry in the right pane..
4. Now connect your device with the USB cable to the pc. Yes, this comes first. Now press the 'Download' button, the dropdown bar should tell you 'Download Only'. If not, please select this from the dropdown and press download. Now the program waits for the connection, so press the reset button of your device. If all is setup correctly, your device will connect and download will start. First, you'll see a red bar running at the bottom part of the programs's screen, shortly followed by a yellow bar, showing progress of the download. If the download was successfull, you'll be notified accordingly. Disconnect your device and wait 10 seconds, then reconnect it to the pc. If your download was successfull, your phone will be recognised and stay connected, please look in your device manager on your pc, to see connection startup. You'll see the battery charging icon on your device, so it shows, that it is recovered back into it's life.
5. Now it comes to flash the rest of the firmware, so go back to SP Flash Tools, select the scatter file again, check all blocks EXCEPT the preloader and flash it to the device the same way, you've flashed the preloader. Now that you've selected more blocks to flash, you'll see that this takes much more time to download. So please be patient, do not tamper with anything, go ahead, get yourself a coffee or a beer and relax. If everything is okay, flashtools will inform you if the download of the firmware is successfull. If yes, you are good to go, for the first startup of your device.
Disconnect the device from your pc and power it on. If all is right, it will boot up android and you're ready to install and customize it for you.
But sometimes things just don't work this way, what can you do ?
Well, in my case, I've shot my preloader at the first try to flash the stock rom. Yes, I did not obey the rule that I should not tamper with this preloader, so it was checked also. This was a big mistake, after unsuccessfull download, the device did not react any more. The second time (I've bricked it again, because I would like to know, how to restore a bricked file system). So I've formatted all partitions, reinstalled everything and it worked fine. You can do this with the SP Flash Tools also.
I was tired of the 'Factory Recovery Mode', a standard piece of software, which seems to be some sort of rudimentary, so I'd like to install a CWM recovery for that. It would let me install a ZIP Update from the SD card, so it seems more usefull than that rudimentary factory recovery, but how to establish that ?
Searched the web for a long time. Used MTK Droid Tools for that, but this didn't work on the device. It could not create the recovery because of two errors:
- No found kernel GZ
- No found split boot image.
The search for the solution to these both errors resulted in just one thing: There seems not to be a solution for that.
If I can find the time, I will try to solve this but in this moment....
In this case, you'll have just one option left, install Philz Recovery. It brings touch capab8illity also, so it just seems ideal to have that. Besides the fact, that you can use the touch interface, the software brings a ton of usefull options with it, so it is the best choise for your device. I've extracted the ZIP file and dropped all items on my desktop to have a quick access to it.
This can only be done on a routed device, so you'll need to root it before continuing. Not rooting the tablet will result in hanging up the recovery program, so no use. I've rooted the device using kingo root. It runs on my pc and the only things installed on my device are the kingo root super user module and the kingo link module, for connectivity. The latter installations are done by kingo root and your PC, so you'll not have to do this yourself.
Rooting the device will take some time, so be patient. My device is connected as a JTY MT 10 Smartphone, when kingo root recognises it. It can take up to an hour to root. Probably there are other rooting programs out there, which could do the same, but I've tested a few of them, nothing else worked properly. I'll be using kingo root for this device in the future. Be aware, that the rooting with kingo root is session dependable, so after rebooting your device, you'll have to root it again.
You may now run the setup program for philz recovery. It can take more times starting up the program to successfully install the recovery on your device. I had to start the program 5 times, to get it installed completely, so if it is not working the first time, don't panic and start it over again.
The standard recovery image from the stock rom is not the same size as the recovery from philz. The program warns you for getting IMEI lost, so if you don't want this to happen, quit installation here. If you know what you do AND you have a backup of IMEI (NVRAM folders of the device) just go ahead. If installation of the recovery was successfull, you'll be notified by the program running on your pc. Now you can boot your device into recovery, by hitting the apropriate button presented by philz recovery setup program on your pc. To do this on the device itselft, power it off, wait 20 seconds, press the VOL + button and hold this while then pressing the power button. Hold these untill your screen lights up and select 'Recovery' from the menu, use VOL + for selecting, use VOL - to confirm. If the program starts, you'll notice, that it is 'Upside-Down'. That should not bother you, for this little inconvenience you get paid with a superb recovery.
In the next section of this post, I'll cover the backup and restore issues, using MTK Droid Tools, explain how to reinstall an IMEI, how to install a new MAC adress on the device. So stay tuned...

Hi!
You should watch this video and tutorial, it was helpful for me too.

Fixing Bootloop or a Bricked Micromax A311

Now, i have seen countless cases of people being not able to flash their MMX A311, as for me I was having the same problem too, turns out that the driver is the main problem.
I was trying out YGDP but i was stuck at "Enabling Download Mode"
and while trying out SP tools i was getting an error "s_brom_cmd_jump_da_fail (0x7f3) " .
Then again, I tried many things, and got my phone working in 10 minutes. :good:
So if u too are stuck, then try my method.
It is highly recommended you do this in Windows 7.
I did everything while my phone was switched off but battery was inserted.
Disconnect your PC from internet just to be double careful about the flashing.
First getting the proper driver:
Now, before installing the driver, make sure that you dont have any other driver installed rather than the one which i will provide, if you think you might have installed some other driver then try removing it by "usdreview" (but it didn't work for me though that's why PLEASE TRY THIS ON ANOTHER COMPUTER OR LAPTOP, MAYBE IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER LAPTOP OR COMPUTER OR MAYBE TRY IT ON YOUR FRIEND'S SYSTEM. THIS SOLVED THE "ENABLING DOWNLOAD MODE" PROBLEM FOR ME)
Download this driver, I did with this one:
Remove the (dot) and put " . " in the link. .
www(dot)mediafire(dot)com/file/8v32j8h5doflzi0/Mediatek+MT65xx+Preloader+Driver(dot)rar
Click to collapse
Extract it and remember where the folder has been extracted to, as it will be needed to install the driver.
Installing the driver:
Open up Device Manager.
right click on My Computer > Manage > on the side pane click on "Device Manager"
Keep it open.
Now first CHOOSE A SINGLE USB PORT WHICH WILL BE USED BY YOU THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE PROCESS. DON'T CHANGE IT!
Now use your usb data cable and insert it into your chosen USB port and then to your phone.
As you will insert it you will see a device popup in 'Other Devices' or some other tab named as "MTK65xx Preloader" or something similar like that.
NOW BE QUICK IT DISAPPEARS IN 3-4 SECONDS !!
Quickly right click on mtk65xx preloader and select "Update Driver Software"
Now as in the new window opened up, select " Browse my own computer to install the driver"
Browse to the DOWNLOADED DRIVER'S folder, select the folder "Win7" for Windows 7 and Above.
Now the driver will be installed.
Now after being installed, take out your phone from the usb cable, dont remove the usb cable from the computer because you make mistake while again inserting it back into to a different port.
Getting the stock rom and YGDP tool:
Now get the stock rom for A311 and YGDP tool from any verified site.
I downloaded mine from :
Remove the (dot) and put " . " in the link.
www(dot)needrom(dot)com/download/micromax-a311
Click to collapse
Download from this site needs user to be logged in, it barely took 2 mins for me to register and download it.
If you have any other site you trust then go on and download it from there, but I recommmend you to follow my steps and sites as I did everything and succeeded.
Download the ROM and also the YGDP tool.
Extract the downloaded file to some specific folder as this is the ROM and the tool required.
Installing and Using the YGDP tool:
I have seen people recommending latest YGDP tool but on the contrary I recommend the downloaded old version from the previous step, it worked for me like a charm!!
Install the YGDP tool from the extracted folder.
After installation, YGDP desktop icon will appear, open it.
put the password as: 369
Now, on the top pane, press the button "Config"
In the window opened, on the side pane, carefully select "8297W" for A311
And after selecting that, on the left side section,
in the " Please select CPB file : " , click on the button beside it and browse for your extracted folder of ROM and select it !
now it click " Apply " button .
It will take 1-2 minutes, and after this you will be brought back to the main window!
Now click on " Start "
And wait till in the bottom message log it says " ENABLING DOWNLOAD MODE" , now follow the next step !!
Flashing your phone:
As YGDP stays in enabling download mode, now insert your phone back to the usb cable which was left out in the computer.
Now, if you did everything correctly, YOUR PHONE WILL BE DETECTED and YGDP will start flashing by itself, wait till it says 100% with a green bar.
Remove your phone from the USB cable and then click "STOP" in the main window of the YGDP tool.
Power on your phone.
Your phone will be successfully be flashed and alive !!! :fingers-crossed:
FROM NOW ON, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP . :silly:
Feel free to ask questions.
If u have suggestions, I'm open for it!!
