T-Mobile WiFi Calling - Future feature? (US model) - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

My wife has the US model Huawei Mate 10 Pro. I've searched and searched, but can't find any indication that this phone will *ever* support it. Has anyone heard otherwise?

I am using US mate 10 pro for over a month and it has its own settings to use wifi for calls when signal is poor and I guess it should work for u too.

no wifi calling - big disappointment
tmobile, mate 10 pro - us version. there is no option to enable wifi calling. may be you are NOT using US version. I called tmobile, they said its included in my plan, if phone supports it - it should work. there is no option to enable it - no secret codes, no hidden menu. its stupid, I have been so happy with my mate 10 pro, but now this wifi calling is a big disappointment for me ! how are you using wifi calling ?

What is the best way to try to get working Wi-Fi Calling and VoLte on this model phone? Just ordered it yesterday so I don't have it yet
Thanks
I am not a developer but experienced user.
There is MUCH confusion about VOLTE .
To get VOLTE in the past on 99% of phones you needed 2 Things .
1] A VOLTE capable phone .
2] Network SOFTWARE on that phone to enable VOLTE ( and often WIFI calling ). This means you only get VOLTE on Tmobile , for example with a Tmobile BRANDED [ or Metro OCS phone ] with the preinstalled software from the Manufacturer for that specific NETWORK.
Android was supposedly going to ADD this into their system but I don't think it's possible technically or legally.
A friend as recently as a week ago on SPRINT had an S9 with a VOLTE On/OFF setting and when he engaged VOLTE is affected call quality negatively - I heard it.
This is one of the reasons Sprint is merging with TMO , IMO.
I have heard rumors of 'generic ' or AT&T Iphones having VOLTE on Metro PCS/Tmobile for example but real VOLTE stays on LTE always and you never lose Internet due to a call - simultaneous STABLE voice and data is the benefit - not some little trick on /off thing.
If the F/DS is an Exynos you may have issues however someone pointed out in another thread that the Exynos should work with T-Mo WiFi calling.
I am using the firmware for the 965U1, it is generic software for US Based Snapdragon phones. When I flashed and put my SIM in, it detected T-Mobile and set up WiFi calling automagically. The VoLTE also works with no adjustments or settings.
So I am thinking at a minimum you should be able to get WiFi calling. Hopefully.

BLA-L29 (C432 Europe) - VoLTE work on T-MOBILE??

I cannot seem to get a straight answer on this. I am hoping someone on this forum uses the Huawei Mate 10 Pro BLA-L29 with the Europe or any branding for that matter on T-Mobile.
Initially, when the phone was released, VoLTE did not work on T-Mobile. The simplest way to check if this works is if you turn WiFi off, make a phone call on T-Mobile, and if the 4G symbol changes to 3G or anything else while you are on the call, it doesn't work. If it stays on 4G, it works.
Since then, Huawei has released the P20 line. They all work with VoLTE on T-Mobile.
So I'm wondering with all the updates the Mate 10 Pro has received, if they have now turned this feature on for US CARRIERS?
Or because they released a US version of the phone (BLA-A09) where VoLTE works on T-Mobile, they may be opting to not turn this on on the international version of the phone as to not undermine sales of the US version of the phone.
If anyone can definitively answer this question for me and if VoLTE now works, please attach a screenshot while on a call with a T-Mobile SIM so I can see.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this and helps me out.
I've rebranded my BLA-L29 to BLA-A09 to get this functionality to work because I don't want to unlock my bootloader and change the carrier and buildprop files which would make it work on a BLA-L29.
The funniest thing is when I email Huawei, they respond with "please check with your carrier"... It's not the carrier, it's their configuration file on the phone that either allows or disallows it to work.

Is there anyway to get VoLTE in the US for LYA-L29?

Get your carrier to enable volte on your service. Restart your phone and it should work

Do I have to take it to the store for them to do it, or can I just call customer service?
The other response is incorrect. Huawei has a whitelist of carrier MCC/MNC for VoLTE support. US carriers are not on it for LYA-L29.
VoLTE working fine in the middle east for the LYA-L29 for those who are wondering.
I don't know about North America though.

Volte works fine on the P20 Pro. Since that phone was never sold or supported in the USA there is no reason US carriers would be on a whitelist.
Volte also works fine on the Xiaomi MI Mix 2 & 2S which aren't sold or supported here.
Same problem in Canada too...the carrier has to work with Huawei to turn the feature on. I upgraded from an S7Edge which WAS VoLTE enabled by the carrier, so the account has the feature, but it did not automatically carry over.
Looks like there will be a few months before we get this, seeing how long it took for P20 Pro.
Anyone on UK EE with VoLTE available?

Hola
Can you please elaborate. For some of our carriers in Canada VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are only enabled with carrier branded phones. This is particularly true for Rogers and Fido. If you are dealing with Shaw, Telus and Bell I have seen different scenarios that certain non branded phones working ok for VoLTE and other phones not working at all.
I am with Fido and I bought the Mate 20 Pro from them and VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling work.

I'm with Videotron...hence the difference. They have been notoriously slow to enable the feature on new phones.
On the flip side, I was getting VoLTE on my old phone which was NOT bought from them (it was first registered on Koodo).
Rogers does not allow that -as you mentioned.

A follow-up on my own post:
- we all knew the Canadian version L0C is NOT dual-SIM - I finally got a chance to test this. Bummer.
- I put in my phone a Rogers SIM and VoLTE and VoWiFi WERE INSTANTLY ENABLED. So the software supports it, has to be enabled by the provider via the SIM cfg. Somewhat positive news - as we all thought, Rogers would only allow VoLTE on the phones they sell, the test proved this is not the case.

I can definitely tell that the call quality is a LOT better in my case with VoLTE on, as it uses HD codecs (G.722).
You can try for yourself by turning VoLTE ON and then play with WCDMA vs LTE settings...one will disable it right away. In my case even the call button in the dialer shows HD.
And yes, the damn icon is hideous and won't go away even with System Tuner.

MintMobile does provide Volte but they have no idea which phone models it works on so they don't advertise Volte. I had Volte functionality on MintMobile with One Plus 5, Essential PH-1, Xiaomi Mix 2 & Mix 2S, and Huawei P20 Pro.
But it does not work with this phone.
On Telus, the first time I set the phone up it made me jump through a hoop where I went to a Telus site and enabled the VOxxx stuff. Strangely, it seemed to be kinda random whether it was 'on' or not, and before the last 2 updates I don't think you could even trust the icon to be telling you the truth. I'm not sure why this feature is a big deal, codecs or not the voice quality seems fine on this phone regardless. Some people claim that enabling any of the VO stuff gobbles battery, I haven't really noticed.
Much like the AOD, it is sad that we have almost no control over the icons at the top - especially when space is at such a premium there.

Wifi calling in the UK

Just a query - does the HM20P have Wifi calling options in the UK? More specfically on Three?
Yes it does. Purchased mine from 3 UK and its the dual sim model. Never really used WiFi calling much as far as I'm aware but just tested it by putting the phone in airplane mode then turning the WiFi back on and it came up with the words 3 WiFi calling where the signal strength indicator usually is. Tried making a call and it works fine.
Not on O2 as of yet
Works on UK EE. The WiFi calling on the 20pro is different from on the 10pro. WiFi calling will only switch on if the gsm signal falls below a certain level. In my case I don't get WiFi calling upstairs but do downstairs

As I recall, that was how it worked on my Mate 10 (not Pro), which is kinda annoying if you live in a house that has borderline signal (like mine), I'd rather it just work as a preference. Oneplus 6 does it that way and gives you the option to choose.
Wi-fi calling works fine. Phone is single sim, unlocked model...bought outright from CPW, and wi-fi calling scrolls its way across the status bar when on wi-fi.
I'm on the three network...
I moved from three to Vodafone. When awaiting the phone number to be transferred it had WiFi calling. Once the transfer was completed I lost WiFi calling. I can't even remember where the settings are

WiFi calling is carrier dependant, so you'll only see the option and it will only activate if your carrier supports it.
3 & EE support WiFi calling
O2 doesn't (on pretty much any handset except Samsung ones)
Voda I'm not sure about
On the same subject, VoLTE (4G calling) is also carrier dependant - I know both 3 and EE support it, but I haven't seen the option come up on my phone. O2 (as usual) don't support anything and Voda are unknown

Vodafone support it, been using it a while on lots of my phones also volte works. And best of all you don't need to have purchased it from Vodafone.

Help? Why is the operator list shown without modes (2g / 3g / 4g)?

Hi dear community,
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G and wanted to check out, where I can see the different modes and if 5G networks are available.
Well, in fact that I'm a geek with frequencies and stuff, I was happily surprised, that actual phones show the operators and the mode. In Germany I've got 3 Operators (T-Mobile, Vodafone and o2) and we can see them each 3 times (e.g. o2 2G / o2 3G / o2 4G and so on) on actual phones. But with the new Galaxy Note 20 5G I can't I can only see the 3 without the modes.
Is it possible (perhaps with root, what I already wanted to perform) to change some settings in the build.prop or somewhere else, to activate that? Or do 5G phones don't have this feature anymore? The Device had Android 10 and I upgraded to 11. Still nothing. It was delivered with spanish Vodafone software (I still don't get it why) and even the update with the neutral software from Germany, didn't changed anything. Even the spanish Vodafone software and the welcome screen in spanish after resetting the phone didn't disappeared. I don't want to send this phone back, Can anyone help me please?
Please excuse my grammatical issues.
with googel controls now in effect slot of stuff that was once accomplished previously are now not. so I would likely is reason for no response, even though I am rooted on tmoble with 20 ultra (thanks dev team!) . I will be going back to using the 10+ because of this kinda stuff until scoped storage is hacked by a talented person.
as for your question, I am not sure exactly what your thoughts are, although I can only say that for tmoble pretty much always been it's a since 4g came out a scam to show only 4g,lte/hsp+ or whatever it is when the service is actually ¹g or 2g at best, here is a screenshot of the scam taken by myself showing 5G (LOL) when it in REALITY is so weak, my old KitKat s3 was faster. this kinda stuff happens all day long. t-mobiles ultra fast 5g network is actually a lie and is just enough speed it make browsing data work and designed to get to logged in to your wifi asap. because even with 10mbs download you actually have none when your upload is. 0.27 and according to their 'network specialists " I called that's within minimum the 5g range
