woops! did something dumb - How/Where To Buy Exynos - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I kinda thought that if I buy the carrier unlocked version direct from Samsung that it would be the Exynos. Woops just got it, and it is definitely SD. Anyways now Im wondering if I can exchange for an Exynos, or if im stuck with it forever

If you're within the return period, return it. If not, then you're stuck with it (unless you bought it with a credit card that has return protection).

Ok i got the first part. Now how do i get an Exynos?

You have to get it from a 3rd party. (Amazon, eBay, etc.)

Thank You!

Need 8525 Motherboard or 8525 w/broken screen.

Cheap EBAY car charger from Bargaincell.com fried the charging circuit/sync/USB connnector on my brand new 8525. The guy tells me he won't do anything about damages, so I'm stuck needing a replacement motherboard. Other than this my device is in perfect condition, so I'm not looking to part it out either.
If you have an operational motherboard, Please email me at:
natedog731 <NO @ SPAM> hotmail.com
THANKS!
Have you tried putting the phone in for warranty?
Well, I got the phone 2nd hand off of ebay (No Warranty). Shortly there after, another ebay product killed it. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1443395&postcount=22
I would still try and get it replaced through AT&T. I bought my 8525 through eBay and had an issue with it and AT&T still replaced it under the manufactures warranty for me. I've done it numerous times with phones over the years. The number you should call is 1-800-801-1101. It's definitely worth a shot...
Hmmm... I suppose the worst thing they can tell me is "no"...
I'll be damned... I didn't think that would work... A replacement is on the way! Thanks for the idea, TheBrit and ahfunaki!!
No problem, glad to have saved you some time and money...
And the nice thing is too, the phone you'll receive basically is brand new...
Bah... Cingular/ATT sent me a unit with the White screen issue. right out of the box... *sigh* A replacement for the replacement is on the way...

Or charge you for the new phone after they determine the damage wasnt due to a defect. You gotta be careful as they try to find anthing to make your fault. I got a couple boards if interested
LOL Just called them again tonight... Time for the replacement for the replacement for the replacement . The rep tried to talk me into taking a different model in exchange. "Sir, since you've had the trouble with that model, how about a different model instead? A Blackberry 7100, perhaps?" LOL. He didn't seem too surprised that I asked about the Tilt, and it seemed like he checked stock and said that there was none so far. We'll see what happens.
omg.....really>? if i would of known this i wouldnt of opened my phone and voided it....do you guys think that they will accept it?? i got my 8525 from ebay
to ahfunaki:
Can you write all procedure step by step, because I don’t live in USA but I have couple friends in USA with ATT account? I can ask for help but their don’t realize how to do it, because I was send my device couple weeks ago but in ATT local store refuse to help because of ebay purchase. A can call to ATT via skype and organize everything.
Sorry for my poor English.

Questions about those GSM unlock codes.

I posted these questions somewhere else but I did not get satisfying answers. So I thought I'd take it to the experts.
Well I found unlocked Atrix phones being sold for $800+ on ebay. But of course I'd rather try buying the unlock code myself from websites that offer this service.
I'm new to Android and never thought an unlock could be this simple compared to what I used to do with iphones!
My questions are..
1.Once the unlock code is entered with success, Does that make the phone unlocked forever? Or I need to keep the key and re-enter in cases such as formatting the storage drive or factory reset..etc?
2.Should there be any difference between an AT&T Atrix unlocked using a code and the Atrix to come later as the international version (Manufacturer unlocked)?
I'm just curious to know how would the phone still be unlocked if it needed a complete format in the future?
Thank you
1. Unlock codes are permanent
2. If an international version gets released, it MAY have a different firmware, and different apps preloaded. So it may come with HSUPA enabled and probably less bloat. But it would be just as unlocked as an AT&T one with an unlock code.

the UK version is a dumped version of the US one. as far as i know, there is no 4G in it. who knows if they will dump something else.
i think there is no 4G network at all in UK. maybe there is
as for the first question. i would an answer my self too. and i think that the answer is a NO. you dont need it. but i am not sure
i also have a question on my own i want to ask. if i buy the atrix now without the unlock code. can i still access the phone like as a media player, video player and net ? or i am stuck at the boot screen ?

Yes you can.
I've been playing with my Atrix, customizing it and installing apps for 2-3 days now with no SIM inside (until I receive the code I ordered from cellunlock.net)
On first boot it will ask you to create a motoblur account and then you can skip the "no sim found" screen.
Thank you

no dead pixels and not interested in selling.
I just got the Atrix unlocked to STC now. Everything did cost me around 2450 SAR (+I will spend 330 SAR on a 32GB class 4 microSD tommorow).
If you think this cost is ok. PM me and I will guide thru everything I did.
Thanks and gold luck.

shokran { thank you }
i already ordered mine yesterday from amazon.com waiting for it to ship to aramex shop & ship,
then i guess i will have to buy the unlock from celluck.net for another 200SAR.
but the total is more than what you told me the price of the phone alone with tax before it arrive to aramex is something like 653 $ tax included. i think 200SAR for shipping here and 200SAR for unlock. and we are close to 2800 SAR if my math is correct.
its just that i want to buy another one and i will pay around 2800 SAR if you are in riyadh and intrested to sell your phone " you will make a profit " because i need another phone

My experience unlocking my Galaxy Note I717R

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note I717R from Rogers and unlocked it to work with my existing service provider, MTS. I detailed everything in a blog post in case any one is thinking about doing the same (or something similar):

Hopefully someone finds this useful.
I had to pay $25 for this service, not $8. Did they drop the price?
Nice write up.. and always enjoying reading Canadian stuff

Sorry Amigo, there is no free unlock for non at&t models. You can pay $19 from www.cellphoneunlockers.com.
Those free unlock apps don't work on the note.

I was a useful post. Just as a head's up, I tried to get a code for the same model from 'unlockphonenetwork' and paid $34.95. They promise a code in 0-5 hrs. After waiting half a day, and not getting any response from their email support address, I filed a dispute with Paypal. Now I just have to wait. Now I wish I had used the same code provider that you did.

Thanks very much for that, I'll have to give that a try.
So in the interest of fairness as a follow up the code did eventually arrive after 12 hours. Now I normally would not be so anal (bad pun in light of the below) about these things, but the reason I bought one in a hurry and not spent more time in XDA Developers looking for a solution was because my daughter had been admitted to hospital in the Philippines (not serious, just dehydration from ongoing traveller's gut) and my son had just arrived with his Note that I had rooted before he left but not unlocked. As I wanted to communicate with them ASAP I thought the $35.00 would be a justified expense because they claimed they would provide it on 0-5hrs (within a minute of me paying for it the window on the site proclaimed that I (first name and last initial) had just completed unlocking a Samsung i717). At one point someone (Jason So) did reply to my email to support and just said 'were working on it'. In spite of me pointing out why I was in a hurry when they finally sent it, no apology or any explanation, so I'm not too impressed. I'll carry on with my Paypal dispute just to see what happens now and use your method instead, thanks again for the post.
Update: In the interest of fairness again, the seller did offer me a partial refund for being late ($14.95), which I accepted as the phone was already half a planet away with a 14yr old who would be challenged to flash it where he is. Interesting how these sellers never provide a name (I got the Jason from the embedded header) or engage the buyer in any sort of conciliatory dialogue, if they did they'd probably gain more respect. However I didn't want to give the seller an unfair rap, thus the update.

[Q] Shafted hard by samsung

OK here is my problem questions will follow.
i purchased my gtab 10.1 in usa.moved to philippines.screen started getting fuzzy then blacking out now its totally out. samsung refuses to repair it cause they don't do international warranty.then i went to samsung office here in philippines asked them about repairing my tablet.i was told they wont order or repair my unit cause its not from here and against there laws.so now im sitting here with a tablet that needs 2 parts.(1) lcd screen(2) lcd screen cable (mine is broken).i have looked on ebay none of the lcd screens come with the cable. gotta love samsung and how they do their customers. i dont even have a way to use ebay now cause i no longer have a bank account in usa or a place to send anything to. so does anyone know where or how i might be able to aquire spare parts for this thing?
Why is it Samsung's fault you broke the screen? And why is it their fault you made the choice to buy a tablet in one country when you lived in another? I don't see that they did anything wrong, tbh.

well for one you dont know all the info. you shouldnt be so quick to judge .im american from usa which i purchased my tab from usa. then after purchasing my tab i ended up moving.and what they do wrong is not support their products internationaly. also i did not break my screen. the lcd cable is what broke. the screen went bad before the cable broke so therefore samsung gave me a faulty unit. so yes i have every reason to complain about samsung and there support and product. so please read and understand before judging others. im asking if anyone knows where i might find parts im not asking for others to look for faults or degrading with remarks.

Posting this rant here isn't going to make samsung fix your tab.
Do you have a family member back in the states you can send your tab to and get them to send it to samsung to get repaired?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
wasnt posted as a rant only trying to explain my situation.i already said what i wanted and needed to samsung . anyway i do have family there but by the time i send this to them and they send it in my warranty will be over. so i figured i would just try to find the parts i need and get it fixed here out of pocket.

I9305 or not ?

Hey, I recently got my i9300 stolen and I am getting it back on insurance, however I was thinking to sell the new handset they give me and instead buy the LTE version PAYG from Orange (UK resident here).
Only issue is no-one in the Orange and T-Mobile branches can clarify to me whether the model has 2GB of RAM and is indeed the i9305.
In orange the phone they had on display under LTE version under 'About Device' showed to be i9300's with 1GB RAM but I'm guessing that's because they've just used a standard S3 for the sake of display?
No staff for some reason know whether it has the extra Gb of RAM, most people just stating the only difference is LTE.
In T-Mobile, the guy at least had the courtesy to say it WAS the i9305 they sell, but the device was locked if I tried to go to RAM manager or About.
My question is if anyone has bought a handset from Orange (only 450) and whether it is indeed the i9305 with 2GB RAM.
Also my second question I guess is, is there any point me getting this model or should I just keep my standard handset. I'm assuming as an ORange customer I could migrate to EE when it launches but I'm just not sure.
Thanks

personally if u enjoyed the s3 and samsung then go for it but i wudnt pay for another samsung roo problematic unless u wana flash custom roms to overcome them.
i too was thinkin the same but not confident with samsing the normal s3 is a big let dwn

I would go for it, because the phone will be as future proof as possible, 2GB RAM will allow heavy multi-tasking, and LTE will be there when it comes to your area.
And about them not knowing whether the ones in stock are I9305, go up to them and say "Oi clueless guy get a box and check what it says" seriously they turned me down for a job when I know more about Android than the iSheep that work there.
I might walk in sometime and ask them loads of technical questions.

I assume it cant be phone insurance you got with the phone then as you have no choice but to get a replacement of the same model I would have though. Given the choice i'd get the updated model.

What the OP said is he plans to get a replacement I9300, then sell it to get an I9305 and I was just saying I would.
Get the i9305.
easiest way to find out it is the i9305 is to look at the box and it is on the bottom left at the back of the box.
also it would be locked to orange
+1 I9305. enough said i think you have more then enough opinions. Ill see you in the I9305 forum bye for now
lol yeah i got it in the end sooo nice to go back to the S3 from the now heavily dated desire HD.
the box doesn't state the 2GB RAM, and they told me if I open the box to check the phone, I have to pay first :|
you're right, they know nothing, I saw the model number and said well if it's i9305 it's 2GB RAM to which the sales assistant retorted (quite cockily i might add) no the 2GB RAM is a model only available in Japan the only difference with this is LTE.
Well luckily I knew my stuff so bought it, checked, 1.75GB of RAM on my system and a nice titanium grey finish.
felt the sting horribly on my bank card though, need to sell the replacement phone now (any takers...).
for anyone wondering I live in Nottingham which should be getting 4G by the end of the year so I felt it was definitely a worthwhile purchase.
THIS BULL**** LIFE STORY ASIDE ---------
I'm assuming I can't flash a ROM made for the i9300? anyone know where to browse some interesting i9305 ones?
it's rooted and CWM'd up but I'm already wanting to try something different and less bloaty.
thanks for your input guys
cant flash i9300 roms unfortunately:crying: but hopefully as more of us get onboard their maybe some more development soon:good:
Breaking my cherry post...
I'm also looking to break my android cherry, having been an iOS user so excuse the noob questions. I have been looking to get a i9305 from Orange. My question is if I get the phone from orange, have it unlocked but not rooted and use a sim card from another carrier like O2 or vodafone will I still get OTA updates as those network carriers don't even sell the i9305.
I'm probably going to go with T-Mobile as they have a good sim only deal at the moment but as only Orange sell the phone on payg, would a T-Mobile sim work without having to unlock the phone?
Lastly how easy is it to remove the stuff that network carriers put on the phone, simple a case of deleting apps or is that where rooting comes in?
