Hello,
I made factory reset but didn't decrypt SD card before. SD card was ejected before reset, so I have all the datas, but cannot open them.
I tried with the procedure I found on internet:
- saving the encrypted data
- format the SD card
- encrypt of it
- copy of the saved content back to the SD
- decrypt
It didn't change anything.
Is there any chance that I may recover my photos and videos if I don't have any backup?
Best regards.

there's something wrong with it, some files i can't delete, any way to format?
Try formatting it through a computer.
OR
If you do a factory reset from stock recovery, it will format the SD card also.
But then you have to setup all the things again
I encrypted all my files on my external SD card.
I then wiped and installed a new ROM.
Now i cannot read the files on my SD card.
Is this because it was all encrypted under the old ROM?
As far as I know the phone creates a unique key for the encryption, so you couldn't read the sd card in another phone. By changing the Rom you've effectively changed phone, so the sd card is locked.
Either format the card, if you don't need the data, or restore an earlier nandroid (if that will recreate the key) to access the card again if you need the data.
Dear,
I've encrypted my phone and SD card with a password, then I've restore factory mode my phone.
After that, my SD card appear as blank and needs to be formatted.
How can i access it and restore data?
Noe: I do have the password but dunno how to use it!!!
Thanks
Hey everone,
I recently had to restore to factory defaults on my Z3. When I previously encrypted my phone, I didn't know that it also encrypted my SD card, I thought it was safe. Thus, when I went to restore some data after the reset, I couldn't access the data on my card. So, I'm asking if this is the proper method to restore data after factory resetting the Z3 with encryption:
1. Copy data off encrypted phone and SD Card.
2. Reset to factory defaults.
3. Reformat SD Card.
4. Encrypt the phone and SD Card.
5. Copy the data back to the newly encrypted SD Card.
Even though I used the same password to re-encrypt my phone and SD Card, I was not able to recover the data off the card. It was simply lost in encryption limbo. I assume this is how it is supposed to work even though the same password was used?
Dear All,
I encrypted my SD card using the encrypt SD Card feature in Android Lollipop. Later, I upgraded my phone to CM13 Marshmallow and I removed the SD Card from my phone during the entire process. Once the new ROM has been installed I encrypted my phone internal memory using the same password as the one I used to encrypt my SD Card.
Once I reinserted my SD Card, the phone couldn't read the encrypted files stored in there. Everytime I try to open a file (image, music, video...) it says "the file couldn't be opened it could be corrupted or damaged".
Can anyone tell me how to restore data on an encrypted SD card ? Of course, I know the exact password that was used to encrypt the data on the SD Card.

I thing you didn't get the point actually. Files are not corrupt, they're encrypted and I'm looking for a way to decrypt data using the encryption password.
i have same problem, please some one help.. thank you
