Game on Le Max2 x820 => 1h30 game = lag and heat - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hello everybody,
I'm using this phone with Slim rom, nougat for playing Arena of Valor (MOBA)
When i'm playing 1h , my phone is getting hot then it start to lag.
I tried to do everything but i can't do anything
When i'm charging while i'm playing, it's unplayable. Too much lag and heat. I have to unplug the phone to play
I tried to do everything, like enable vulkan, dunno if the game support vulkan or not.
Other things, my sister has a LePro3 elite and the phone is faster then mine. Same RAM same CPU, we tried on stock rom and on ACIP 8.1
I can only play like 2H45 then i run out of battery and phone getting laggy
She can play like 5h without any problem as she also had a redmi note 4 MTK 5h playing
I also tried to reduce the resolution of the screen to full hd (1080p) or only hd (720p), antutu is the same and in game also lag and battery consumption is the same
Do anyone has tips for me ?

Well I don't have any tips but I can share my experience across different roms.
Best performance I get is on oreo roms (aicp unofficial, currently using lineage official). Tried stock but performance was worse according to me even though antutu increased by 10k.
Can't play while charging , too much lag. On heavy games (i play pubg mostly) battery drain is about 25% per match(about 30-40 mins). So 2-3 hrs sot expected.
Phone sometimes mildly overheats.

About 30% per hour for me
If I set economy battery I can play 25% per hour I need to do test. And phone get less hot
I also tried to underclock the CPU but I get too laggy in game loading
Did Vulcan work on Pubg ?

So, you're expecting to get 5 hrs. SOT while playing a 3D game, which will also probably be using your data connection from time to time to synchronize game data and progress? And also on a 2K screen? I don't think so. If you push it further, you might get 3 or 3.5 hrs., but I'm not too sure of that, either.
You can't compare a Redmi Note 4 with the LeMax 2, since the Xiaomi has a smaller screen and it's FullHD, while Le Max 2 has a 2K resolution screen, which will always need more battery juice. And the same appllies to LePro 3 Elite, which uses a similar screen to the one on the Redmi Note 4. You're not really comparing similar phones. On the other side, both Redmi Note 4 and LePro3 Elite have bigger batteries (4100 and 4070 mAh) so you can't compare.
There are lots of tutorials here, for this and othe phones, on how to get the best out of the phone and save battery. Try them, but keep in mind that you'll always be limited by the 3100 mAh battery in this phone, which I always found a bit too small for such a big screen and resolution.

I'm not only talking about the sot in game. But the performance compare to another phone with the same cpu
And where did u read u expect 5h?
I'm just sharing how much sot I get under game experience
As a said I also tried to reduce resolution of screen to 1920x1080 or 1280x720. Battery consumption and performance is the same as qhd...
One of my friend was playing with a zte axon 7 the phone didn't get hot in game
My brother has a Zuk 2 pro but I didn't do the test with him
Both phone with a snapdragon 820
My other brother has s7 but with exynos so I can't compare
Eu version
I just want to understand how to play and avoid the phone to go in throttle mode...
Reduce the CPU frequency maybe .. I don't know I try to find a way
People with who I'm playing can play more than 3h. I have to stop to charge because I can't play in charge
Envoyé de mon LEX820 en utilisant Tapatalk

All that is completely normal.
The phone heats like that because there isn't any way to "cool" it down. It uses the aluminum back to spread the heat and that's why you feel it hot. As for the lag whenever a processor reaches high temps for example 100° it will thermal throttle (slow down) to prevent any physical damages. Charging it while playing will make it worse because when you're charging your phone the battery also heats up. It's like fighting fire with fire. It just makes more fire. You can take some breaks whenever you feel the phone is too hot. And don't charge it while intense gaming to prevent any physical damage to your phone.

Yes that's why i'm not playing while charging because unplayable
I'll try one more thing before updating to oreo (dunno if i'll have the same issus with oreo)
I'll try to look the frequency of cpu Big/Little while playing and reduce them to avoid heat and also having better battery but less performance

I've found a solution...
Playing with a fan behind the phone.
The phone is not hot anymore and i can charge while playing now...
Super

Heyyo, out of curiosity, that Zuk 2 Pro... Was he running a custom ROM or stock?
I believe currently the Le Max 2 enters a power saving mode to try and keep the heat level down while charging which could be causing the "lag" you're feeling.
I could try and see if there's a custom ROM on another device how they attempt to handle charging while gaming and see if it's something we can use or not.
Zuk 2 Pro might not be the best candidate since it has a FHD screen and not a QHD like the Le Max 2 has but maybe we can try it.

Hi, i don't know if this will be usefull but i use my le max 2 for gaming, i mean full gaming (i play games when i have free time such as lunch break, at home, morning before working any free time i have) and i have no lag problem. I play mobile legends and heroes evolved both moba games. I always bring a powerbank to work, so even playing games while charging, i don't have lag. Im using RR ps version and im quite happy with this rom. No bugs, use google camera, reduce battery power setting to efficiency and viola a good rom that suits me. Maybe you should try RR ps version.

Hello,
It's on stock rom, he has Oreo now but he isn't happy of the photo quality. (he had a samsung before)
I'll try soon to go on Oreo maybe AOSIP and we'll see if i have lag while charging without the fan behind the phone.
If it's the same, i can always put the fan behind the phone ^^
@Irwan Fauzi Maybe it's a phone problem ? Or you don't play enought time ? (i'm playing like 2h non stop)
I can feel the phone screen hot and the back phone also
I'm playing AOV since november and i always had problem

Hi @ogy_j
I like to play with my phone too and after 10 minutes my phone is hot in bottom of the screen.
But I play short time, so I stop before phone start trotting.
I think you can try something like this
Handle Mobile Phone Cooling Pad

Fan + power bank

During day i play 1 or 2 matches thats about 30-45 minutes but at night i play from 9pm to 12am non stop even while charging i dont have lag..

so it's rom problem
I've use a fan like u show me

[Q] phone gets hot when playing games

when i used my phone to play cricket game within 5 minutes it got hot near the camera and i couldnt continue playing the game. I was totally puzzled. Also when i speak a long call for more than 20minutes of continuous the same heat is felt near the camera. Why is it happening. What is the remedy for this? I really feel bad when it happens
How hot did it get?
Why couldn't you keep playing?
Most likely the temperature isn't hot enough to cause problems but I'm surprised search couldn't help you.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
its is so hot that if u keep on playing you feel that u may burn your fingers placed over the camera region and the heat transfers to the whole unit as well.
might be an idea to underclock to 800mhz
I must say that playing PES2011 or Reckless Racing for ~15 minutes makes SGS2 really hot. Not hot enough to "burn your fingers", but it's still hot. Elixir says that battery temperature after play equals ~41 Centigrades, so the GPU is about ~60, 70 maybe? Can't check it, dunno how.
Does anyone else have that problem?
Same here, i played Order and chaos for about 6 min and it got extremly hot, so i quit and went to set cpu where i saw temperature was 51ºC...
However, i usually have it underclock to 800mhz and theres no heat(max. 31 i think), but i havent tried to play at 800mhz, i always overclock it to 1200 minimum for playing HD games and still do little stops sometimes while playing...

the same problem... but how do i under clock the device and how does that work for me to get out of my heat problem????
If you guys are playing at night time under low light conditions I suggest you get the App screen filter. It reduces the brightness below the lowest brightness settings that the phone can offer. I have noticed a big difference in gaming as my screen doesn't get hot anymore, only the back which is better than nothing.

I read some threads and they say that it has to be flashed, upgraded, rooted... confused...
Same Problem
Same problem here. Phone gets really hot around the front and back cameras, while playing games like RF11 or Asphalt6. Should I return it or flash a custom rom/different firmware. I am on XWKF3.
Same here on gaming..
The maximum battery temperature I've seen was 55 C while charging the battery, a game (Gangasta on message that data was downloaded successfully via Wifi) got stuck in background consuming a lot of CPU (~50%+).
Sorry guys, this phone as a severe design issue and the temperature problem can't be solved. You only can keep the cpu clock down.
He guys,
It's not only with playing games. My phone was doing nothing and the temperature raised (don't now the temp. but very hot) and the phone shut down, and was completely dead. Could not start it up. Could not charge it, because I thought it was empty. After cooling down, I took off the back and replaced the battery and I could boot it again. I was using internet 10 min. before. I think the cpu's where max. and getting hot. This is a serious problem, and I don't want to root my phone to clock down cpu. I am not a gamer so thats not a problem for me. First time this hapened in 1 1/2 month.
I feel realy bad about this. Did it shutdown because of the heat? Is there a safety thing build in? Is it damaged?
I' m wondering how the guys with overclocked devices cope with the heat. I have my phone only 5 days and it already crashed few times while playing games. Once it was getting hotter and hotter and it wasn't responding. i was worried so I had to hold the power button 10 seconds to turn it off. Maybe you(Frank-HTC) had a similar situation but with an app that was working in background?

Update your ROM.
I flashed XXF2 and it does appear to be running comparatively cooler now.
Sent from my galaxy S2
Had a similar issue - the phone used to get quite hot while playing games.
However, Samsung seems to have fixed this issue (at least for SGS2 India users)
I can confirm that updating the stock firmware (KF1) to stock KF3 has solved this. Intense gaming for 2 hours straight, with Wifi and lots of processes running, the phone is only mildly warm.
If you are experiencing this issues, please try backing up your data and updating your firmware via Kies.
My phone doesn't have this issues, I'm using a water-cooling system now.

ROM with best battery performance?!?!?

Hi All,
After trying more than 15 roms, I can say that the battery life has been disappointing.
Aprox 4h at best, which is not good enough.
Can you recommend a rom that has 5-6h SOT ?
i have same "problem"... if i use brightness full, messenger, and wifi on - i can write maybe 2h? and battery is dead...
have already 2 roms - 2x miui, 5.9.24 and now 6.xx
The Stock Rom

I tried about 10 Roms. The best for me is angels vs demons. Sot in screen below(screen in Polish language but I guess u know what means)

That doesn't make any sense to me. I use Loki's CM12.1 and l can get 6 hours of sot in a 24 hour period. Surfing, emailing and messaging with no games. Use Gsam Pro and better battery stats to find the draining apps. Use Amplify and Greenify donation to limit the wakelocks. Use the built-in privacy guard to further limit the wakelocks from Google play and Google play services.
I can get SoT of 6 hours with normal usage (no hard gaming) on CM 12.1 by danielpinto, this SoT screenshot is on his April build, now that the May 8th build is out i'm still getting 6 hours of SoT. note that SoT isn't a credible source of determining "best battery" in your case, but at least on MIUI based rom i can get 4-5 hours only of maximum SoT.
edit: i forgot to mention that in this case i didn't use any tweaks. just pure CM 12.1 config.
edit2: this is 2 days of battery. you can see on the second image about the activity, look at the awake and screen on parts, that's my "normal" usage since rn2 isn't my main daily driver.

Hello. My phone when I drop it in charger and used it the battery coming down!! Its mean drop it 55% after used with charge go to 54% and its normal get charger when leave it . And without charger the number of battery going down faster. Its that normal? I am in stock rom and used sim network wuthout any game just whatsapp.

Is there any rom with camera quality comparable to MIUI camera? I mean working hdr, quick focus, etc? I would love to change rom, but the camera is holding me back, i really like how it works ( except photos in low light )
If you wish CM rom then use "a better camera" app. I got advise and it's really better then the stock one. Maybe you can try Flyme on RN2. I am using it and I think I am getting better pics then MIUI.
15% less after 7 min of vidéo on a fresh install
Dear all,
I understand that the battery is draining fast but in that situation this is very fast.
I mean : 7 min of YouTube video (fail army)
And while typing my message here I am also losing about 3%
Do you think it can be due to the Rome smiui 7.2.3 or because my battery itself begins to be damaged?
Thx for your suggestions.

I'm using Daniel's ROM. I always use facebook, google chrome to read books, turn on wifi at home and 3G mobile data when going out. SOT is above 5 hours before getting to 20%. My screen brightness setting is Automatic so I can get clear vision.
Daniel's ROM is very good
5h what a dream iam never above on each rom at 3 h sot. By Using amp, nap and greenify

Battery life and usage

well every time a new phone comes out, early reviews are mixed with some having terrific batter while others are having a dreadful one. Theres only one way to have a scientific approach to measure a battery life, and it is to use a standardized test on the phone with most commonly used settings on and others off and no applications installed etc. Since that is hard to do lets just use a poll.. Whats your uptime, SOT and some major setttings...like below
UPTIME: 24hours
SOT: 6H15mn
Connectivity: LTE
Settings: Auto brightness, gmail sync
also put up screenshots of the battery tab so we can see the usage, not just people just starring at a black screen
thanks for voting guys but its also crucial that you post the infos as described that way we can help fellow members with bad battery life
Can't upload photo for some reason.

This can't be accurate; the GSM signal power and quality differs for every user and it's an important factor to consider. If I use my phone in two different locations in my city I'll have different results.

Yes there are many factors that impact the battery life unless we all run the same battery benchmark on airplane mode with default configuration and no apps installed, battery life is not comparable but it's just to get an average
The new chip is just bad. This won't get fixed.
You can try to use a custom battery savings mode and just enable the CPU limiter, it'll cap performance to the S8 but battery will be quite a lot better.
I can get a day or more but its no match for the Mate 10 Pro I had before
Sorry but won't post any screenshot as I have to put in charge everyday around 3 pm, unplugged at 7 am, to make sure battery will last til the end of the day =(
My previous 3 phones were S8+, Note 8 and Iphone X, all I can say is that S9+ battery life is much worse compared to the 3 of them.
Expecting an update to fix that, if it doesn't come in the next 10 days I'll return my handset.

You realise leaving it charging over night knackers the battery because it keeps trying to top up which over time puts a lot of extra wear and tear on it

Sorry if my first post was not clear : I put the phone to charge (induction) when going to bed around 1am, unplug it in the morning around 7am and have to do a complementary charge in the afternoon .
very good
The more it consumes internet over mobile data the power decreases. However, good at all

I don't want to disappoint you. But my previous phone was S8+. Unfortunately with the official update to Oreo the battery performances was a little bit worse than S9+.
Agree with the fact that with Android 7 Galaxy s8+ had a better battery life. But with Oreo... that's another story.

Bump this as some users are reporting very bad battery life while most can achieve 5-7 hours easily please participate in the poll
I have the SD variant S9+ and I'm in the very bad battery life camp.
I am also in the bad battery camp... I can get about 2-3 hours of SOT before it just craps out and I just spent 800$ on this thing. I'm ready to return it myself.
I'm on exynos and really enjoying my battery life. Anywhere between 5.5 - 7.5hrs sot depending on how I use the phone.
Rocking on 6 or 7 hours sot with all social apps, pubg mobile, Twitch, YouTube, discord.. Exynos version. Who has bad battery should move to Apple because u can't even make your android smartphone have a good battery.

Standby time is amazing, too. 9 hours overnight used only 5%.
The battery life for this phone is good. The standby battery life is not great. I don't get a good signal at my job, so when I get in I cut off my data. With the data off, the phone is still draining battery.
However, if I'm in a good signal area or on Wi-Fi, I can get 6-7hours sot.

Very clean. I only really had to uninstall Facebook.
How's the battery life, what screen on time you get?
About the speakers , are they really dual and also does it have gestures navigation?
Battery life is awesome. I get over 9 hours screen on time easily but your mileage may vary on how you use your phone. Yes speakers are dual and are very impressive for the price. Yes there is gestures navigation.

Can't you print screenshot on battery life and screen on time?
this phone easy lasts me a day of intensive video watching on 4g at high brightness so my usage can be inconsistent compared to some who stick to WiFi, have their screen on min brightness. I'm skeptical of posting SOT as you may think that's very poor whereas in fact for your usage it might be extremely good
How's your reception? What network are you using? Is there WiFi calling on it? I'm on 3 UK and struggle to find a phone with WiFi calling...
I still have a moto Z Play, but it is getting on a bit now and the g8 power/g power looks very promising!
How's the performance?

How's your reception? What network are you using? Is there WiFi calling on it? I'm on 3 UK and struggle to find a phone with WiFi calling...
I still have a moto Z Play, but it is getting on a bit now and the g8 power/g power looks very promising!

Reception fine on the UKs crappiest network,3.
No WiFi calling.
Performance is very good for no issues in general use that may lag on the m30s
I find 3 to be good for me, when I'm not at home (no network has signal here) I almost always have good reception.
I bought a pixel 2 XL second hand and it has awful reception.
Shame about WiFi calling... I'd buy one straight away otherwise
Software-Problem is solved.
I got the Stock-Rom from

Hellw Everybody ^^
I switched to my Moto G8 power 2 days ago because my previous phone Poco F1 had trouble with battery and motherboard. First impressions after 20 H from last charge and with 5,5 h SOT are very pleasent - 45% battery remaning still.
As far as everyday usage is concerned I am supreised how well it runs - not as fast as Poco but the user experiance is on par. On poco f1 animations used to be laggy from time to time.
The camera can produce a very nice and sharp picture however i always have to tinker with the settings to get a better result - the camera oever all is quite capable .

after the first charging i was disappointed but after the 4. charging the battery-capacity is better then beginning.
now i get 10 - 11 hours SOT - 3 to 4 days for me
display-brightness 85 %- german vodafone as provider, energy-saving-mode on, dark theme, 8 h mobile data on and 8 h. wifi on at one day. 1 h bluetooth on and listening music via bluetooth, whatsapp, browsing, some simple card-games and taking photos every day
Ordered mine on friday, 8 days ish to wait but the price was good.
As for wifi calling, i've never found much difference call wise.
i'm wondering how many people already got it, it's very quiet here and would expect some more activity.
I had to figure out the rooting process by myself,
with all my previous phones there was a huge fan base already at the time of purchase so everything came easy
What version of the MotoCamera2 app did the phone come with? Does it have Google AR Stickers yet?

after searching a bit, the moto camera 2 app is version 7.2.79.18-logan
apparently ar stickers is an old name for the current google playground,
it is not installed by default as that belongs to google phones ( the pixel for example) , but i did find some articles that it is possible to get it working on most devices, see:

Thanks for checking. Many Motorola phone actually do support Google's AR Stickers/Playground in the Moto Camera app, but it looks like that support hasn't been added yet for your device.
Hey! I bougt mine on last Friday 13th in Argentina, retar. Amazing battery life. Two questions here:
1. Can I add other official roms to my retar device? for example retla or reteu roms?
2. Is this the place to post things about Moto G8 power stuff? Because this is for Moto G Power but XDA has no G8 power sub-forum.
Can someone confirm if it supports 5GHz 802.11 n wifi? My partner has one and only seems to find 2.4GHz.

I think Poco has underclocked my CPU!

Hello,
I have been noticing my pocophone beeing sometimes laggy (so laggy that I think of throwing it into a wall) and sometimes, it freezes for few seconds (sometimes, I even have to force reboot it),
So I decided to try few things,
I started monitoring my cpu clock, and doing some benchmarks.
as opposed to the scores on geekbench 5 website, which are respectively 438 and 1745 for single and multi core performance, I get only 300 and 1096 scores!
as for the clock of my cpy, it never surpasses 1.8 ghz, while the advertised clock of the cpu is 2.8ghz!
Also, the performance cores rarely go higher than 576 mhz, even during benchmark!
Note that my device is fully stock (no root, locked bootloader, with the latest global update installed, android 10, miui 11)
So I am wondering, are you guys getting those scores or is it just me? and do custom roms have the same issue?
If this is caused by XIAOMI Software, I think this is totally unacceptable!
After recent updates antutu and geekbench scored declined, poco is doing underclocking cpu to make users force to buy new poco phone....it is really disturbing....i actually gonna root my phone and install pixel rom.
The Miui kernel of Pocophone F1 is capping the CPU at 2.09 GHz, I really don't know why but I think it's something to keep it cool and to enhance battery life

Unlock, install twrp and No gravity kernel. I get 360 000-370 000 in antutu with it. It also have a free kernel app.

Yup! It all depends on temps. It will throttle more as your phone gets hotter. If you live in a hot region there's nothing you can do. Just try to use it in cooler environments. And overclocking on mobile devices is not efficient. It is just there to tell you that you can.

Totally agree, but even if the phone is cool and the room temperature is 16 for example, the Pocophone F1 won't go over 2.09 GHz!.. This limitation made by miui kernel, no matter how hot or cool the phone is.

Even though I have never stayed on miui for over a week, I never had these issues. Wierd.
Well if the bootloader is locked only thing one can try is formatting the phone.
So I have charged my phone all night, and it seems magically fixed! (spoiler alert, not really)
It seems like it is a battery issue, under a certain battery percentage, miui will cap your cpu, even without turning on battery saver! because now, my cpu gets to 2.6 ghz, but still, the phone is so laggy, sometimes unusable laggy, as if it didn't have a flagship chip in it!
I have tested and I completely agree that the CPU is highly dependent on Battery Level. Even while plugged in (while low) the CPU scores are lower than should be.
But anything above 60% and you get what you expect. I'm assuming they are using the Apple version of extending battery life where they throttle CPU to make a dying battery last a bit longer. Remember that battery loses 10% first year, 30% second year and significantly more the years that follow.

Yup. MIui shuts a few thing off on low battery regardless if you have turned on battery saver or not. GPS is one example, I don't get location below 20% battery even if I'm floating next to GPS satellite.

I can assure you that this thing is not related to battery level at all, as my battery now is over 70% and it's still capped to 1.84 GHz..!

I don't know what's wrong with you guys' phones but my CPU clocks all the way to 2.8.

Either way, whether CPU or Battery, it isn't normal temperature and it completely explains why he's facing the issues. It's normally around Summer where most posts like these begin and people don't even take into consideration that factor.
I can confirm this. MIUI kernel is limiting the performance factor by a huge extent. On latest 11.0.9.0 ROM the big cluster is capped at 1.8ghz even when phone is kept next to air conditioner and fully charged.
After flashing a custom ROM or kernel, the issues disappeared. Phone performance was back to buttery smooth and no throttling even in 35C ambient temperature.
Yes i had the same issue. As phone became laggy, i became frustrated.
Unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom rom and kernel.
The device now so smooth and free. I am loving it now.
If you want to stay on MIUI(but i suggest you use PE10+ rom), and ok with rooting, do it and install some kernel manager like FK kernel manager. Now you can clock your cpu and gpu as you like. Overclock it when you are doing some intensive gaming or underclock it when you want to save battery. Moreover now you can charge your device faster. MIUI limits the charging volt/amph but you can change that too. Advance Charging control App helps with that. It can charge up to certain % which you can set after which it automatically disconnects charger so leave your device connected to charger and it won't harm your battery.
If you do it and it helps then thank me later?.
