Zebra TC-51 rooting or Possibly custom firmware help? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a zebra tc51.
I have all the images roms , reset files etc
Iv been trying to root the device for such time
Iv tried it on android 6.0.1 and android 7.0.1
Unsure if it's possible to root or allow much via the update.zip ( images of the device ) using there update-script
Reasons , debloatware it, we use our devices to emulate NFC to access doors etc for the functions we need , we change a lot of the operating system on our other devices to have. Better user function and ease of access , some functions and features of our software we run don't work due to having no access to parts of the system we have a device we can hardly use I have a another device with 5.0.1 from zebra but it's a older one that is rooted but it dose not have the hardware support we have
If someone is happy to help me unlock this device I'm happy to help pay some kind of support for your effort or send you a old zebra m40 something (haha)
But endless web hours on this topic for me , been looking at editing the update.zip
And allowing root support but I'm unsure
It's going on eBay shortly

TC51
I have a zebra tc 51 and tc70, both of which I have to unlock/reset to factory. Could you provide me with the files you have for your tc51? It would be greatly appreciated.

reset TC51 is possible
I reset TC 51 successfully a week ago. Just go to zebra site under support for mobile computers and then into android 6 OS and the third "+Full Image"
and download: Atlas_Ent_Reset.zip. place in a FAT32 SC card in root dir, hold down power and scan (top left) buttons concurrently til logo. Select flash via SC card and hit power. 6 min later, full reset to all default apps.

Need that firmware plz

Hi, Sorry for not being more clear regarding the file I mentioned above. The reset file I stated to download and flash to phone is not a firmware image for the TC51. It is a file that when applied to the phone via updating from the SD card. It is instructions to the phone to commanding it to hard rest itself. It is a very small file, I dont remember, but I think like 15mb, whereas firmware img files are far larger.
The are to versions, one being enterprise - it will reset with enterprise partition not being wiped and the non enterprise reset file will wipe all.
8 or so minutes later, you will have a TC51 booted into its default state, apps and all. Any passcodes locking it are cleared. The above enterprise/nonenterprise reset files are available for google services or none.
Once you click the one of the full image "+" symbols to expand the subtree, you will see the files I mention. You will also see the full image files you are asking about but you cannot download them without permission.
Sorry for the long msg, but one last point is, the small reset files that do not require password verif to download, I guess basically the phone is reset as if the stock rom was reflashed to it, but without the img flash. I did this week ago and works well. I am new to this forum, joining only to state the easy reset of the TC51 and have not seen any rules as to what types of uploads are permitted here, if all cool, I can upload the files here.

Hello
I am also in need of the 6.0 or 7.0 firmware pls nd thank u

My guy you are freaking money. I have been trying to unlock mine for like a year and have constantly gotten stumped.
Thanks very much for the help. Sending massive good juju your way.

Were you ever able to get root access? I am in the same boat, I have reached out to Zebra for assistance in unlocking the bootloader but they have not responded.
I did search in the software license which (according to their site ) says:
For instructions on how to obtain a copy of any source code made publicly available by Zebra related to Open Source Software distributed by Zebra, you may send your request in writing to:
Zebra Technologies Corporation
Open Source Software Director

I have not written to them on this matter through snail-mail. Perhaps that is the next step. As an indie dev its was hard enough to get access the the software revisions. I had to jump many hoops and it took over 6 months to get access the GMS and non-GMS versions for Marshmellow, Nougat, and Oreo.

[Q] perhaps a complicated question?

please forgive me for asking the following questions... i'll list phone info etc 1st...
(i have done my research not only on this site but many other sites... but poss cant find the answeres?)
details: i have a samsung (t-mob) vibrant : model # sgh-t959, firmware version 2.2, baseband version t959uvka6, kernal 2.6.32.9, (build number FRYO.UVKA6)...
**** note i updated from eclair via kies mini per t-mob's instructions as it was not avail OTA so i had to do it via a pc****(I DO NOT HAVE THE PC AT HAND AND AVAIL TO CONTINUE TO ROOT THE PHONE).....
-------
My question(s) if so can be kindly answered are as follows: (list of where i am in steps) to root my phone to get rid of bloatware.. but i THINK I NEED A ONE CLICK ROOT OPTION/APP to do so as follows per my computer situation and phone firmware?
#1 I run a MAC w/ 1.25 GHz powerPC G4 w/ Mac OS 10.4.11 having only 768 MB DDR SDRAM... none of the programs similar to kies mini run on my operation system because they req 10.5 or dual pross etc... so seems side mount/pc (not having a windows machine) will not work?
#2 i have tried ryan's z4 root and it does not work anymore after stock-up grade to froyo via kies mini from t-mob.
#3 i've been reading thruthis thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746129 DOES T WORK FOR 2.2?
#4 i dont really want anything special... i just want to get rid of the bloatware from t-mob... once up-dated to 2.2 added more now can't rot via one click/app...
(i have titanium back up and superbox, astro and oclf(which wont work now)
#5 i was looking at this galaxysroot apk .. but didnt see anywhere if it roots 2.2?
#6 FINAL QUESTION IS THERE A ONE CLICK ROOT OR A APK THAT I CAN USE W/OUT A WINDOWS MACHINE? OR ALSO IS THER A PROG THAT I CAN DN FOR MY MAC OS?
im a graphic designer/ also a discgolf basket maker... im willing to trade services...
i hope i've listed all info need for my situation... if not please contact me...
thanx for your time and viewing this message

If you could go use someone's PC, it would take less than 30 minutes to download the SMALL program file (ODIN) and then the 200+MB stock files needed.... once you have those on a PC, it takes about 3 minutes.
If you are having so many issues, certainly someone would let you borrow a PC?

[Q] Huawei U8160 (a.k.a. Vodafone 858 Smart)

It is posible to go from froyo to gingerbread or oxygen on Huawei U8160 (a.k.a. Vodafone 858 Smart)? If yes please teach me how. Thanks!
search google for SmartLucky rom for the 858. Its awesome even though its not gingerbread. Has multitouch too.
Does anybody knows if it is possible to flash the original wpa_supplicant (v 6.1) with the hacked version to see ad-hoc networks ? or can be anything else done ?
i saw smart lucky, but i don't understand italian.if you can translate the steps to install it i will be forever gratefull to you.
I've installed the smartlucky on my vodafone smart (italian) and works very well. I'm italian, i try to translate the instruction for the italian forum to install this rom
Prerequisite: the telephone must be rooted and the the recovery Clockworkmod 4.0.0.2 or above must be already installed (if you need instructions this steps I can translate it from the same forum)
Instructions:
1: Download the rom from the link in the italian forum (the latest build is 2.1.729, the 2.1.1 is only un update and must be installed after the main build)
2: Copy the file SmartLucky2.*.zip into the sd of your phone
3: Enter in recovery mode with colckworkmod (shutdown the phone and press and bring pressed volume-up + power on simultaneously till the load of the clockworkmod)
4: It is better to do a backup of your actual rom with the backup & restore menu (this step is optional but is better to do it in case of problem)
5: Go down with the key Volume down to the menu "Wipe data/factory reset" e confirm with the key power on. Select and confirm Yes -- delete all user data.
6: Go back to the main menu and choos "Install zip from sdcard".
7: Now choose the file "SmartLucky2.*" that you have previsuously insert to the sd card (point 2). Now the installation will start.
8: wait the end of the installation and go back to the main menu and choose "reboot system now".
9: now the phone will restart. The first restart is very very very long, please be patient!
For install the 2.1.1 update the procedure is the same, but you don't need to do the point 5
After the boot you need to launch no-frilld cpu to set the overclock of the cpu (if you want).
The differences from the stock rom are a lots, the principals (about me) are:
1: cpu overclock e underclock
2: photo-camera bring up to 3 Mpixel
3: multitouch enabled
Pay attention: the rom have a littel bug (actually unresolved, due to the multitouch): The back key of the phone is a bit moved to left respect the sign. It's not a problem to use, but is important to know that is necessary tap a bit to left respect the original.
If you need other info please ask me. I'm sorry for my error in the translation but I'm italian
thank you very much!I cannot entry in recovery mode .I tried as you said but it's just showing the hourglass and black screen.
you have to bring pressed VOLUME UP + POWER BUTTON also during the hourglass screen. Don't release buttons before the recovery mode is active.
did it work?
did it work? is it any better?
im thinking of getting it from vodafone.. only if it gets performance with the upgrade.
hope its in english.
Noob here..
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

HELP!! someone with vodafone 858 phone could upload their backup or system.img file. plz!! help my phone it stuck on boot screen
Vodafone to launch mobile money transfer service
LONDON— Vodafone, which owns 65% of Vodacom, will launch an international mobile money transfer service as part of a wider expansion of the M-Pesa platform, which has become a popular payment system in countries such as Kenya.
M-Pesa was launched by Vodafone in 2007, and has become a quasi-currency because it is used so widely in Kenya. It is also available in other African countries such as South Africa and Tanzania.
Vodafone is expected to announce this week that the M-Pesa platform will be available across borders, allowing customers in countries that have adopted the system to send money from overseas.
Mobile-payment systems are a growing focus for telecoms groups that see both a means of attracting and keeping customers and a new way to generate revenue through associated activities, such as advertising and discount coupons.
However, few have been as successful as M-Pesa. Its attraction lies in a technologically simple text message-based transfer system that allows people to be paid, and pay, using their cellphones. The advantages of security and low transaction costs have helped its popularity in countries where many people do not have a bank account.
M-Pesa will be connected to an international remittance hub called HomeSend — operated by Bics, a money transfer company — which covers more than 21 money transfer businesses in 35 countries.
The expansion of the service comes as Vodafone seeks to increase the mobile money business in other countries, and beyond basic payment systems into other areas of financial services such as insurance and banking. M-Pesa is used by more than 15-million customers, generating more than 165-million transactions a month.
The platform is already being tested in India, for example, which is seen by the UK-listed telecoms group as a potentially vast market for the service. Other countries will be looked at, according to those familiar with the service. Vodafone declined to comment, although a spokesman said it was always exploring options for expansion of the platform.
Vodafone owns 40% of Safaricom, the leading mobile operator in Kenya, and has identified demand among many Kenyans working abroad to send money home using a secure mobile transfer service.
Separately, the UK’s leading mobile operators will unveil their joint commerce platform this week using the new name "Weve" ahead of an official launch in November.
The new company, which had been code named "Project Oscar", will market a "digital wallet" scheme that has been backed by EE, O2 and Vodafone. This platform will allow third-party debt and credit cards to be stored on a secure service on the phone to be used as payment.

[Q] My Guophone I9600 android 4.2.1 is fully bricked. can someone help me, please?

Hello,
I am contacting you to see if someone can help me.
I have a Chinese phone. It is a Guophone i9600, MT6589 CPU quad core 1.2 GHz with 1 GB RAM.
This week it began to continuously display messages “memory full” and it told me to uninstall applications. I looked in settings options and it really showed internal memory was fully occupied ... when it wasn't true. There aren’t no applications installed nor data (including whatsapp app).
I restored the phone to factory defaults and it worked well. Now there was a lot of internal free space. After this, I installed lnk2sd app and I started uninstall applications that came with me smartphone ... but the phone has been bricked.
When I turn it on, it hangs in the original logo GUOPHONE. I don’t have any backup.
My laptop doesn’t recognize it. I have downloaded MT65xx drivers and when I try to connect the smartphone, it tells me not receive reply from the peer (I guess it will be smartphone). Therefore, I can’t use all that solutions that need to connect mi smartphone to my laptop (flash tool, CWM, TWRP, ROM manager ...). I think the only solution is to load a ROM file in ZIP format from the factory recovery menu.
I searched ROMS and I only found one in needrom.com (for Guophone I9602 (I guess you can be the same as mine, i9600)). I've downloaded it from a web page link and a mirror link, and one is a single file with img extension and the other one is a .rar. I have unzipped it and it has a few files with extension tar and img. I've tried everything, zip them, unzip them, renamed file extension... and nothing have worked.
I have also tried to generate a zip with the two img file (I think they're called recovery and boot) as someone said in some websites and it didn’t work. They said I have to include a META_INF folder, but I have no idea where to get it.
I have even located the manufacturer's website, I sent them an e-mail to ask them smartphone`s ROM zip file and they didn’t reply me.
One more thing, I bought two identical phones, one for a friend and one for us. Is there any way to get from me friend’s smartphone a file from ROM ZIP file to use it in our smatphone from recovery menu?
From my friend's phone I have downloaded (in "backup user data" option from original recovery menu) a file with backup extension. But when I try to restore it in me phone, it shows me a checksum error.
Thanks in advance. Excuse my poor English, please.
Best regards

From my friend's phone I have downloaded (in "backup user data" option from original recovery menu) a file with backup extension. But when I try to restore it in me phone, it shows me a checksum error.
Thanks in advance. Excuse my poor English, please.
Best regards

Zebra/Symbol/Motorola TC70 Factory Reset

I recently bought a Zebra/Symbol/Motorola TC70 on eBay that is apparently from a Walmart and is seemingly locked down with a custom firmware. I did find firmware files and flashing instructions on Zebra's website. You are supposed to boot into recovery and flash the main image and then afterwards you flash one of two smaller zip files. One is designated as Factor Reset and one is Enterprise Reset. In the description of these files, the Factory Reset says its wipes all partitions and data including the Enterprise folder/partition and the Enterprise Reset does everything but that folder/partition. Zebra seems allow me to download everything but the Factory Reset file which is the one I assume I need to remove the Walmart branded stuff.
My question is, is it possible to manually wipe this partition and gain the same effect as the Factor Reset file? Bad idea maybe?
Any help would be appreciated
Installation instructions can be found here: https://www.zebra.com/content/dam/z...date Loader Image - Non-GMS Release Notes.pdf
TC70 Locked Down
Did you get any joy in downloading the software for the TC. I have one too thats locked down to a custom firms software that and the Zebra site wont allow me to download due to registration of the device being with someone else
Another TC70 here in need of an enterprise reset. I have no idea of its provenance so can't access the stuff on the Zebra website.
Going the whole hog, a non-enterprise reset would be even better and a KitKat GMR ROM image as well would be REALLY welcome!!.
Thanks for any help
After a lot of trying to get the enterprise reset out of Zebra I had no joy. These are simply locked up so tight that once the purchaser has registered the unit only they can gain software for them. Its a pretty good good for the purchaser as they know if one of there handsets go missing no one else can use it so it should deter theft of these expensive handsets but its unfortunate for people who legitimately buy a second hand unit. I had submitted the purchase invoice to Zebra showing the unit had been legally obtained but since it was still registered to another company they couldn't help me. There seems to be a lot of Royal Mail / Parcel Force handsets floating around... avoid them as you will never get it to work. One things for sure Zebra are no way as near helpful as Motorola used to be.
Hope I can help you guys out a little on this one....
Got access to all roms, etc from the Zebra web site and can get anything they offer as far as factory resets (enterprise and otherwise), roms and manuals. I am uploading the ones I already have downloaded for KitKat, Lollipop and MM. If you don't see what you need when I post the links (hopefully here shortly), PM me and I'll download it from the website for ya.
Stay tuned...
*EDIT*
Here is a link to my Dropbox folder with the files for the TC70. The other files I already have and full firmwares are still uploading (due to only having DSL access where I'm at it's going to take a few hours). Check the unit you have and the Zebra website to confirm versions needed, but I believe the latest two versions of the enterprise reset files are up and ready to download.
Again, PM me for specific versions needed.
*EDIT#2*
Link to the thread I started where you can discuss and request specific versions of firmware for your TC70/TC75 or any other Motorola/Symbol/Zebra device firmware.

hi
I can not download the T51N0M3XCPUEF01203.zip file from their site.
can you help me thx

Hi,
I just found this thread trough Google.
And i was wondering if you could still access the files on the Motorola site.
Because file: T70N0LXXVRGEF21002.zip is the latest, but is missing the GMS certification.
something i think is needed/handy for using the Google Playstore on updates.
Or if anyone knows where i can get the updates, please let me know.
Edit: the correct 'GMS enabled' firmware should be: T70N0LXXARGEF21002.zip,
and it seems to need update file: 'T70N0L50ARPEF21002.zip'
and Lifeguard? updates?
new info

Hi,
I have bought an usb/charge cable for the TC70.
and it actually charges also without an adapter attached to it.
but on-topic,
I also see its 'protected' with Soti.
And i was wondering if you have an Factory Wipe image.
Because when i applied the Full Software Update, It forces the install of the Soti protection also,
rendering it kinda unusable.
But you can get more acces tough the on/off button in terms of connectivity, light settings.
The way to reset these is to put the reset *.zip file on the micro sd card, turn the device off, then hold down the lower button on the left hand side marked with a yellow stripe while holding the power key. It will boot into recovery, select install update from external sd card using the volume keys, then use the top left side button to select the zip. I have a TC70 wifi version and I need the latest update T70N0LXXARGEF21002.zip which you just cannot find or get anywhere. Everything works fine on mine except wifi, I need the wifi config .bin file I believe. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone has these files or has access to them can they download them and upload to a file sharing please.

I cannot find these files ANYWHERE without being asked questions by symbol, most of these scanner come from supermarkets and are ex contract but are still tied in zebras database to a contract so they will not release the files to you under any circumstance. This is really frustrating, the original guy bobtsunam who provided the dropbox folder has not been online since august so I think we are screwed.
Dear me, I am in a massive discussion with zebra/symbol support trying to get this file, they suggested I download it, I told them I couldnt, they now want the unit sent in to them.......this is going to be a long thread over a zip file....

I'm not sure if this helps or is known but just in case its not , so messing around with the tc70 i found myself in setting and was able to view apps, create lockscreen , access camera ,view pictures etc... and actually delete/disable apps, I was able to disable EHS and any other app installed. In my excitement I accidentally deleted a wrong folder which caused tc70 to freeze on boot screen lol. long story short I would like to see what others may add to this glitch so if anyone is interested in this process LMK
Does anyone know if it is even possible to disable Walmart setup app from tc70 settings and if so anyone know of what app I need to disable/delete? As I said I can access settings and many other areas of device .. will pictures of the apps it has help ?
i have reset file for tc700
i need the other os files...the reset locks up bootloader with password but ill share if need be hmu

I'm actually looking for the walmart roms, as my co-worker bought a used TC70 that has been flashed for Home Depot, and wants to use it for Wal-Mart.

(Re-post :) RK3126 - yk98vq-rk3126-v2.1 - Over-bricked ! (Yes, it's possible :D)

(this is a re-post of a new thread in a wrong section, thank the Merovingian who leads me here ! http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-assist/rk3126-yk98vq-rk3126-v2-1-bricked-yes-d-t3505962 )
Dear people all over the world, it's from far far away I write to you !
I tried to change the /system partition of the tablet, after several "auto-reflash" of the partition (the system on reboot deleted always my job), I flashed again and came directly in the "Loader" mode.
I don't know how, the parameter partition became altered, begin with a double "..Param..Param" and made the system unbootable.
From now, I wasn't able to write on the parameter partition any more.
Worst, I don't know how, the tablet start now in a MASKROM mode... The IDBLOCK and nandinfo are not available any more (not downloadable).
All software like "upgrate_tool", "batch tool" "android tool" "rkflashtool"... can neither upload data, nor download.
But the system still recognises the PID and VID (0x2207 & 0x310d), and the flash manufacturer (Samsung), it means, he can still communicate with the µC.
Is there still something to do ?
All ideas are welcome ! (From JTAG reprogramation, re-soldering to simple HW manipulation like pressing 2seconds the reset button ^^ I'm an adventurer ! And I can easily access to a small well provided lab...)
Wish you all the best,
me
