I installed accurate battery app, and it says that is better not to charge the phone more than 80%. I read about it in other places, is that true?

I've never heard of this before, but I've looked up the App.
It looks interesting, and doubly so since it might help determine how much capacity my old HTC 10 has lost. It reaches 25% and switches off and just bootloops after that (which I know is a battery issue, I'm just curious to see statistics, since the phone itself seems to be unaware of any issue).
As far as only charging up to 80% goes, I've never heard of it. The only thing I've heard is that you should never let the batteries completely discharge. Getting charge back into them might be a problem.
And anything that tells you the "memory effect" could he a problem is wrong. It isn't. Only on old Ni-Cad batteries etc.
Best not to leave it on charge once full as that keeps pumping and putting unwanted wear and tear on it
If you're going to be absolutely OCD about battery health, the absolute ideal percentage to keep them at is between 40% and 80%.
But in real world usage, you're going to get absolutely minimal (no) benefit from doing this. It's just not worth it.
All you need to do is avoid discharging the battery completely. Don't let it run out to 0%.

I've been doing this since owning the S9. I've only depleted the battery once, rarely let it got below 30%, and charged to 100 probably about only 5 times. I can't quite testify real world benefits yet (and probably won't for long since this is theoretically for long term benefits) since it's my first time picking up this practice with this phone. However, the frequency of my charge has been concerning me a little. Any other thoughts this or charging this frequently?

Daily Express. Same rag that posts that the UK is going to have a heatwave in summer and the coldest winter for 100 years, *every year*.
Does charging overnight have an effect on battery life? Yes, but the effect is mostly negligible.
My youngest son is currently using my 3 year old Nexus 6p. Throughout its life it has been on the charger all night, every night, and also topped up during the day.
It is still on the original battery and still gets around 4 hrs screen on time a day.

That's because there are loads of links that dispute it!
Facts are you said that leaving it on the charge will continue to "pump" charge into the phone, when in reality the charging circuits switch to trickle charging once 100% is reached!
As far as your S7 goes, without knowing your usage case I can't say for certain, but chances are the problem is more likely related to completely discharging the battery (which kids are wont to do) rather than leaving the phone on charge.

That's i wanted to know. I use my phones for years so I don't want that the batteries die faster. I want to keep them alive as max as possible. Anyway, I read a few things and it seems that this "40 to 80%" thing is true. I'm a little concerned [emoji28]

Some discussion here and elsewhere that Accubattery isn't that accurate. I've used it for a while on both S8 and lately on S9+. Accubattety says my 3 week old S9+ is down to 95% capacity already. Whatever, after reading on reddit and xda decided to uninstall it. As a result standby time has improved. I've no hard proof other than the battery has more left in it on my average day. Battery apps - waste of time I personally think!
As to keeping above 40% and below 80% then sure it is better for battery health. I even started to do the same myself. Like the last time I tried it on my then S8 I soon got bored of the hassle of topping up. Gone back to sticking it on charge pad at none fast charge overnight. Pretty much what I've always done. Battery never seems to take much harm. Should battery lose a lot of capacity then there's a fair chance I may be upgrading phone by then or just have a new battery fitted.
Charged previous S8 overnight for a year with occasional run to flat and capacity was at 98% according to Accubattery. Danger of being OCD over battery charging, just charge it right up and enjoy the phone!

This is probably a too long story to ask a simple question lol. I've tried every calibration, tip and trick to get my battery life to where it should be like others are reporting.my battery life has never been great just alright at times. And since gingerbread its been awful. I've even tried not installing any Apps to make sure it wasn't one of them causing drain. I've tried every rom cherry, alien, stock, fruit cake I'm on cm7 now. So I called AT&T and they wouldn't replace my battery because the phone wasn't upgraded on my line. (got it off craigslist). So I called moto and they said they would replace The battery. But they are out of them for 1-2 weeks. Plus 4-5 days for shipping. That being said I can wait but I'm tired of my phone dying in 4-5 hours from being in my pocket all day on campus while I'm in class, with light usage between . So while I wait for the replacement. I was thinking of buying a battery off amazon. And I was wondering how many people use or have two batteries and how useful is it? Or people that have one healthy battery is that enough in your opinion? Sorry that was so long and drawn out lol

I'm fortunate, I guess. My battery life has always been pretty good. One battery is sufficient as I'm never that far away from the ability to charge it with either a wall charger or car charger. Since I typically can go all day on a single charge, if needed, I'm content with just the one battery.
Just one and I don't feel like needing more than that...
I use my Atrix a lot, and I mean A LOT, but whenever I sit on my desk, I plug it into my trusty Lapdock and work from there, both on the phone and webtop. Very convinient I must say.
Obviously the Atrix charges while docked, so whenever I need to walk out of the office, the Atrix is 100% charged and ready to go.
Cheers!

underclocking with setcpu is the only thing that works for me. that and use the alien theme. for now, it will give you exceptional battery life when using a screen off underclock profile compared to others.. my phone actually holds it's battery while sitting around.. by which I mean, while sitting idle with the screen off I lose about 1% every 2 hours. ;-)
this also assumes you disable all networking when idle. green power automates this task. if you for example, leave an app like Netflix on pause and let your phone go idle, your battery will suffer. best to close all tasks before standby
I have not had any problems with the stock battery. The first week was really bad, and it only lasted maybe 6-8 hours. After that first week, it got waaaaaay better. I can get easily 2 days of moderate use on 1 charge. It seems like it's getting better as time goes by.
I have two batteries, but i rarely need the second battery but i just switch the batteries around so i get a good lifetime out of both of them. With light usage i easily make it through the day but my phone goes on charge most nights so i rarely test it more than that.
I bought a backup off of amazon. rarely use it, either on weekends when I am doing a lot of running around and can't charge it through the day, or at the end of the day if something comes out that i want to flash but don't want it to die.
Hey guys,
Some of you might've seen this on the N7000 threads,
This is to confirm that the same battery is sold to Canada on Ebay, and it works pretty well on the i717.
The battery is called the "3030mAH High Capacity Gold Battery"

I do not have the test results yet from Battery Monitor Widget, because I don't really know how to do a full MAh test. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this.
Through everyday use however, it does seem to give me an extra 10-15% on the battery (which is around one hour for me).
For those who are interested, order it from this Ebayer:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/270942481442?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Ps. The Charger is SLOW though, I usually use it on the other batteries overnight.
Have you had a chance to get numbers from battery widget?

I have this one and t he 3080 one. Both work ok- not much more lasting than stock. I get 35% by end of the day remaining with moderate use, push email, 10 widgets, and 14 alarms.
I have the 3000mah version from these guys and these are just 2500mah batteries repackaged. I thought that I was getting more battery life too at first, that's mostly because you are trying to justify the purchase subconsciously, but they aren't any bigger and are actually lighter than the stock battery
They do seem like good quality batteries, just not any longer lasting than stock unfortunately.
If it were possible to get a longer lasting battery in this phone that was the same size as the 2500mah one you can be assured Samsung would be selling it as an accessory for $50, people would gladly pay for it... Samsung wouldn't miss out on making extra money on accessories...

If it truly is a larger battery then it should take at least 30 minutes longer (using the 1 amp wall charger) to charge from dead to full.... But I found that my charge times didn't change any appreciable amount, so the capacity isn't any different...
Here is some times taken when i first received the battery.

It doesn't take any longer to charge from empty than the stock battery does, so Its not any larger. My charge times were within 10 minutes of each other when comparing to stock.
Ebay batteries that are the exact same dimensions as stock but claim to deliver more capacity than the stock battery are pretty much always lying about capacity. Its all marketing. If the battery was heavier than stock I might say it could deliver more capacity, but they are usually lighter.
There is an app on the market called battery drain...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...fender&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Be careful using this, it will drain the battery VERY fast, potentially heating up the battery to beyond safe temparatures. DONT SELECT EVERY OPTION!!!
Here are the options you can select to have it do all at once.
-Turns on Permanent Vibration
-Enables Wifi Send Data
-Constantly Max Loads CPU
-Sets Screen Brightness to Maximum
-Enables GPS Location Services and Constantly asks Device to Refresh Position
-Turns on Camera Flash
-Turns on Bluetooth and Constantly Scans for New Devices
I would also grab battery monitor widget pro by 3C (the paid version is $4) or another battery app that has detailed logging.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNjYzcxLmJtdy5wcm8iXQ..
Consistency is the key, what I would do is power down the phone and let the battery completely charge (use the volume rockers to turn the screen occasionally to see the battery charge level, its fully charged when there is a 100% shown inside the green battery).
Set the battery logging app and the battery drain apps either on the lockscreen if you have something like widget locker or set them on the first homescreen that appears on an initial boot so you can access them quickly.
Then unplug the phone, note the current time (open the clock on your PC for seconds), power the phone up, wait a set amount of time (say 1 minute from when you initially turn the phone on) and launch the battery drain app, turn on maybe 4-5 of the options (dont use all of them, you dont want to damage the battery), say max screen brightness, camera flash, wifi, bluetooth, & GPS and wait til the battery dies and note the time when it dies (shouldnt take more than 1 hour).
You can test each battery this way (make sure you pick the same options in the battery drain app) and if you have an app doing battery logging, you can pull up the stats after the phone dies and you plug in the charger to reboot it.
Its also key that nothing changes (dont install any new apps or remove any apps) between testing. What most testers do is factory reset the phone, leave all the settings at stock and install only the apps they need for testing. This might be a bit extreme, the key tho is to have consistency.
Using both batteries and testing them in this fashion would give more information rather than anecdotal. However, I can understand that it is a time consuming process.

How does the regular S6 get longer battery than the Edge when the Edge has a slightly larger (50 mAh) battery?
I'm coming from a S4 which barely lasts half a day, so I'm trying to justify if the price increase for the edge is worth it based on battery life alone. (I have seen both in store, and love the way the Edge looks, but if the regular S6 has a better battery life, I might just stick with it.)
I searched the forums to see if anything has been posted comparing the two but didn't come across anything.
The edge probably uses more resources for the edges. Also, I haven't come across anything saying the plastic oled uses more energy than standard oled.

Really that seems like something is draining your battery if next to no usage. Today will be my first full day with the Edge but I don't see me putting it down. lol I usually just put my phones on my wireless charger at times and if I need some juice quick I'll use fast charge. Such a think phone I wasn't expecting great battery life.

Apparently there is a bug with Wifi (at least on T-Mobile) that is causing some serious standby drain. I turned off my Wifi and the battery seems to be much better for me today.
The other thing is apparently the information stream. Due to it keeping the digitizer active even when the screen is off, it causes more battery drain. I turned that off too, since I don't get much use out of it.

Hi Xda, I need to replace my battery because I bought my phone from a man who destroyed it with something like 1300 charging cycles (number provided by Phone INFO ★Samsung). I knew that after 400-500 chargings using the same battery is dangerous. So I moved to amazon.it and I searched for Anker battery and I found nothing. I mean, there is the item on Amazon, but there are no more batteries for Amazon.it. So first of all, which battery is the best at the moment? Is better a genuine battery from Samsung (there's a €13 battery right now) or another battery (I don't want to pay more than €10-15 for a battery, because I have no money - the bad thing of being 15)? So, I know that Anker has a great value for money, but as I said there are no more, otherwise I must buy them from Amazon.uk. Is it safe, and convenient? After that, my final question is:
which battery (that I can receive in Italy) is better for my SM-N9005 Note 3?
Thank you, Ivan

I got my Note 3 2years now. Charged it 2874 times. Still the 1st battery I'm going for a orginal Samsung for 10euro.
On ebay like 20 dollars the note 3 replacement battery. Size 4200mAh and yes the difference between thr orginal and 4200 is tested out, much longer life. But one thing i noticed on orginal battery, when your phone shuts off due to low power you still have power to turn on and off maybe 15 more times. With this 4200 though it doesnt play like that, when phone turns off you cant turn back on
Holy the phone i bought from someone has 4580! well minus mine probably. had it for a month
I've just bought this below battery for my 2 years old Tmobile Note 3 for the past 3 days. So far so good. My Note 3 is on Note 5 port ROM and I tested this new battery for 3 days by having 5 widgets running on my screen, 2 email accounts syncing every 5 minutes, facebook is always logged on, location is enable, Data and Wife are also enable, 2 group texts for 10 and 6 people with moderate to heavy texting. The new battery lasts me from 8 am right after full charge thru midnight with almost 2 hours remaining. This battery comes with the new back cover and it looks good. I think you should get this.

Placed new orginal battery in my phone today.. checked with the app and counter was not on 0 but the same as with the old.. so I don't think that samsung info app isn't accurate
Phone Info is like a km counter, it show how many times you charged the battery, but not how many times you charged new battery. So it's normal

I bought a new genuine one, getting 6h+ SOT with Aryamod.
Well the app only says charger connector counter, doesnt mean its a full charge cycle. I have 2900+ on mine.
If you can find one in Italy (great company), search for 'MPJ Note 3'. I highly recommend both their 4500 and their 7500mah batteries, and other threads on this forum wait them.
Anker and Mugen as well are both highly respected (although I've not used them myself)
And obviously, the original is dependable.

well every time a new phone comes out, early reviews are mixed with some having terrific batter while others are having a dreadful one. Theres only one way to have a scientific approach to measure a battery life, and it is to use a standardized test on the phone with most commonly used settings on and others off and no applications installed etc. Since that is hard to do lets just use a poll.. Whats your uptime, SOT and some major setttings...like below
UPTIME: 24hours
SOT: 6H15mn
Connectivity: LTE
Settings: Auto brightness, gmail sync
also put up screenshots of the battery tab so we can see the usage, not just people just starring at a black screen
thanks for voting guys but its also crucial that you post the infos as described that way we can help fellow members with bad battery life
Can't upload photo for some reason.

This can't be accurate; the GSM signal power and quality differs for every user and it's an important factor to consider. If I use my phone in two different locations in my city I'll have different results.

Yes there are many factors that impact the battery life unless we all run the same battery benchmark on airplane mode with default configuration and no apps installed, battery life is not comparable but it's just to get an average
The new chip is just bad. This won't get fixed.
You can try to use a custom battery savings mode and just enable the CPU limiter, it'll cap performance to the S8 but battery will be quite a lot better.
I can get a day or more but its no match for the Mate 10 Pro I had before
Sorry but won't post any screenshot as I have to put in charge everyday around 3 pm, unplugged at 7 am, to make sure battery will last til the end of the day =(
My previous 3 phones were S8+, Note 8 and Iphone X, all I can say is that S9+ battery life is much worse compared to the 3 of them.
Expecting an update to fix that, if it doesn't come in the next 10 days I'll return my handset.

You realise leaving it charging over night knackers the battery because it keeps trying to top up which over time puts a lot of extra wear and tear on it

You realize I've been doing that for 20 years with no issue at all?
Sorry if my first post was not clear : I put the phone to charge (induction) when going to bed around 1am, unplug it in the morning around 7am and have to do a complementary charge in the afternoon .
very good
The more it consumes internet over mobile data the power decreases. However, good at all

I don't want to disappoint you. But my previous phone was S8+. Unfortunately with the official update to Oreo the battery performances was a little bit worse than S9+.
Agree with the fact that with Android 7 Galaxy s8+ had a better battery life. But with Oreo... that's another story.

Bump this as some users are reporting very bad battery life while most can achieve 5-7 hours easily please participate in the poll
I have the SD variant S9+ and I'm in the very bad battery life camp.
I am also in the bad battery camp... I can get about 2-3 hours of SOT before it just craps out and I just spent 800$ on this thing. I'm ready to return it myself.
I'm on exynos and really enjoying my battery life. Anywhere between 5.5 - 7.5hrs sot depending on how I use the phone.
Rocking on 6 or 7 hours sot with all social apps, pubg mobile, Twitch, YouTube, discord.. Exynos version. Who has bad battery should move to Apple because u can't even make your android smartphone have a good battery.

This is better SOT than I've ever gotten from any smartphone I've owned. 5 hours SOT and still 38% left.

Standby time is amazing, too. 9 hours overnight used only 5%.
The battery life for this phone is good. The standby battery life is not great. I don't get a good signal at my job, so when I get in I cut off my data. With the data off, the phone is still draining battery.
However, if I'm in a good signal area or on Wi-Fi, I can get 6-7hours sot.
