I hope some knowledgeable person on XDA will help you. I can't say anything more than just reset mobile phone, but i understand it's not something anyone wants to do.

Maybe you have facial recognition or iris scanner on? Maybe something to do with Automatic Unlock?
Turn off automatic unlock
Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
Tap Security & Location and then Smart Lock.
Enter your PIN, pattern, or password.
Turn off On-body detection and remove all trusted devices, trusted places, trusted faces, and Voice Match voices.
Optional: If you want to turn off your screen lock, learn how to change your screen lock.

I have facial recognition and smart lock with trusted voice and trusted device, but I don't use it at home. In any case the screen turn on automatically when I don't use it at all (I.e. When it is on a table). What do you mean with "learn how to change your screen lock"?

It's a setting that turns on the screen when your hand or arm moves past the proximity sensor.

[Q] Lockscreen

I haven't seen anyone post about this, but I really want to know about the lockscreen. The thing is I love using the pattern lock, but what I dislike is that every UI I've seen, excluding sense, have removed their standard slide-unlock screen when enabling the pattern-lock. What I love about sense is that, it didn't remove the slide-unlock...
If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be really grateful.
Thanks!

The standard lockscreen is replaced with the pattern lock when enabled which is no different to the way stock gingerbread doess it.

Ouch, fail. So you don't have a lockscreen and pattern lock? Lockscreen for quick acces, pattern lock after prolonged period of not using the phone...
Major major fail.
Man,if you are into lockscreen.
Nothing comes close to widgetlocker{Sense 3.0 is the only other thing which comes to my mind},so many different themes to choose.
Windows/MIUI/iPhone/SE Arc & bunch of other themes to choose.
Widgetlocker is the best way to customise your phone lockscreen
I'll add another voice supporting WidgetLocker. Without wanting to state the obvious having widgets on your lock screen is fantastic (calendar, etc) and it keeps the slide and then pattern, as you want...
+1 for Widgetlocker, wouldn't be without it.
...it also lets you activate the screen with the home button, which will be ideal for those who can't get on with Samsung's placement of the power button.

Then don't buy it dude. You're complaining about every little detail. Everybody is waiting on the perfect phone but it doesn't exist and that will never happen.
Therefore, maybe you shouldn't buy a phone at all...

Very nice...how big is the impact on battery with widgetlocker?
It's so easy to replace functions with third-party programs on Android, I really have to restrain myself not to litter my phone with every nice app I find.

Purchase widgetlocker from the market, after that you can get various lockscreen themes{include only the sliders} from xda android section itself.
Only the slider is there in the theme, rest all which you have seen in my lockscreen are the widgets
Yeah the widgets were the things that made it look good, do you just move them to the screen or what?
Thanks for your help

These are the only settings available for the security lock.

I also have this problem and think it could be to do with the proximity sensor, the speaker button touches your face before the screen turns off. Chrome is to blame!
It's observed that the latest Chrome caused this strange issue. As long as you disable Chrome (or uninstall the latest update) the problem seems gone. I do also noticed that during phone call with BT headset, if I open Chrome the phone will also enable Speaker phone immediately.
Please test if this is the case for you. Several people in a Taiwanese forum confirmed this issue.

I am not sure if it's permission related (it should be...) and App OPS is kind of weak in this. Thus I suggest just try to uninstall or disable Chrome then check if this still happens. (you can disable Chrome via Titanium backup if the "disable" function is disabled in Setup-->Application)

ROM with pocket detection?

My GS5 keeps waking up in my pocket...I'm assuming that it is because the home button is being pressed. Is there a ROM out there that has pocket detection so that it won't wake up if it's in your pocket?

Also, I believe wanam x posed can do it, I'm not sure though.

Thanks...just installed...so far, so good!
So I installed that ROM, and Faux123's kernel, and it appears to be working great. I wish there was true pocket detection so I didn't have to disable the home button wake, but this will work for now.
Some lock screen apps e.g. Dynamic notifications pro can be configured to do what you want. They monitor the proximity sensor to know when you pull the phone out of your pocket.

The problem with that tho is it polls the sensor, which drains battery. The air wake feature of our device checks the orientation of the device. I would like to change it so it works on all orientations so when removed from pocket it would wake. That would be the perfect setup.

You quoted multiple people who had disparate solutions. Speaking only for myself, I was talking about a lock screen app, not a ROM. And it can be configured to do what you are wishing for. Block accidental use of the home button when locked. Realize when it is pulled from a pocket and wake up.
And it satisfies your newly expressed requirement as well; namely that it is not harsh on battery life. If you search my post history, I even quantified the battery use for that app.

Its still using more battery then the system framework can. Therefore its harsh on the battery for people who wish to get 18+ hours on battery. I make apps. I know how to read proximity sensor values. and you need to keep the device awake in order to do it. Maybe using root it would be different.
Anyhow, i was nowhere bashing any app. I was simply stating that instead of replacing your entire lockscreen, you could hack into the already existing code and make it ignore the orientation of the device to achieve what the OP is after.
Nothing you said refutes my comments or their conclusion. So we'll just have to disagree on the subject.

[Q] Screen lock timeout and force lock with button

I would like to know if there is a way to force user authentication (password, or fingerprint, etc) by pressing a button.
What i mean is that on a blackberry you can press the 'K' key to lock the screen and force the user to have to put in the password to unlock the phone. With Android it seems like the only option is to set it to lock immediately b/c if it is set to anything other than that, hitting the power button will just turn off the screen but not Lock it until that setting reaches the time you set for the lock to occur.
I assume it is not built in and i will need to download an app.
Thanks

That is not what I'm asking! I would like the ability to keep the screen off without it locking right away but have the ability to lock with the power button. There are apps out there but it does not appear there is an option to do this natively.
Oh... But why, I'm curious.
Very simple, i don't want to have to keep scanning my fingerprint when my phone is being charged on wireless charger after the screen times out. It is very convenient to lock the phone with a simple press of a button like blackberry. If you treat it like a business phone you will understand, but I'm coming from a blackberry so it is a very useful feature for me.

That is not the issue. Plus why would I want the screen on all the time. The problem is that the feature exists. However for what ever reason ATT disabled the option and lumped it together with turn off screen immediately. If i can figure out which CSC will turn this on it would be great but I don't know if it is a CSC option

I gave you a solution based on what you said you wanted: " i don't want to have to keep scanning my fingerprint when my phone is being charged on wireless charger after the screen times out."
Im sorry if its not exactly what you were looking for, but it IS a solution.
I think the two things you want are mutually exclusive. The only way to have what you need is use smart unlock. Otherwise, the phone either locks or it doesn't.

I never stated I want the screen on all the time. I simply want the option to lock at will using the power button. I appreciate the suggestion but it is not what I asked for and I'm familiar with the development options.
Still would be nice if there is a way to turn this on via a CSC option. still digging

Question Xiaomi Redmi Note10S fingerprint sensor no longer detected

This may be not accuracy, anyway. I had this device last year (not actually), and surprisingly, in some builds, this option is, simply, missing. But, if it, at some time, have showed, and the feature disappeared, then may be due to other reason.

In case the feature is missed, as it seems the main focus on the thread, try with an app like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher&hl=es_PY&gl=US to see if it helps. But consider that, as I said you previously, the option, in some builds, is not present, to choose from.

Set the lock screen:
And this will allows you to enroll the fingerprint.

Ok, then if I'm not wrong, even when you set a locking method first, then it doesn't ask for your fingerprint to roll up, as a second method to strong lock protection?
Activity launcher, not launching the FP, it's probably due to some restrictions from Xiaomi, not all the permissions can be granted by the user normally, it, usually, throws, a "java lang exception" error.
If the issue persists, I would recommend changing the firmware, probably there is a newer one.

Well, an update has to fix it, as I guess, you can downgrade, if you don't have the bootloader unlocked.
