Device App Locked After Flashing Stock 20a KDZ. H830/T-Mobile - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
I have an unlocked LG G5. It was running 10J, and it got softbricked while trying to root it. I managed to flash a stock kdz (H83020a_00_1107) which unbricked it. The problem is that it included all the tmobile bloatware, including the device unlock app, so the phone is now network locked. If T-Mobile doesn't cooperate about unlocking it, is there a rom I can flash which doesn't have that app so the phone would no longer be locked (the device is not rooted, if that makes a difference)? I tried clearing that app data and disabling it, but that didn't help. The IMEI shouldnt be locked to their network, but they didn't seem too cooperative when I called them the first time..
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

[Q] Official SIM unlock on a rooted phone

My phone is rooted stock on the very first original ROM (forgot the version). I asked Sprint for GSM unlock, they sent the request, but it didn't go through. The "UICC unlock" option does nothing. Could it be because I'm rooted and/or on an old ROM? I didn't tell Sprint rep about the root.
Idk probably the root it mess with the system try flashtooling back to ZV4 and then try it but dont ota to ZV6 or else you'll lose root. Alsi they code/ method may be bad. What carrier are you trying to go to?

Thanks for the advise. I just figured out the problem- I froze a lot of bloat with TB, and it affected UICC. unlock. I did it a while ago, and it didn't occur to me right away to defrost before attempting to unlock.
I'm thinking about traveling to South America and want to use a local SIM card while over there.
OK well have fun, glad it works
However I'm not sure how to check that the unlock actually worked. When Sprint network is available, the phone will use it regardless of the SIM. I tried to install a T-Mobile SIM from friend's phone, and my phone came up with red X SIM icon in the status bar- the same as with no SIM.
Spring does not support unlocking.
Sprint does not support domestic sim unlocking but will allow international unlocking.
If you want to use another carrier then try out cloudyg3 1.2 rom or cm11 rom. You can use any carrier with them. Or else you have to modify your build.prop file and replace the ro.carrier.target from SPR to spr using the rom toolbox app and then you get a unlocked gsmphone.

[Q] International Unlock

Maybe I am new to this and could not find anything searching online. I have an LS990 on ZV4. I got this from the USA and it was on Lollipop. gave it to a repair guy who downgraded it to ZV4 AND it uses my SIM on GSM with global settings. It also runs the EDGE I have here.
Now, I have a few questions:
1. Due to some tries with my settings, I pressed factory unlock. Before, the phone had SuperSU and StumpRoot. Now it does not. BUT my carrier works fine and I am able to use it perfectly. I currently don't need rooting. Can I upgrade without this and still keep my carrier?
2. I try to access the hidden menu but all it says is "null". I wanted to see if I could access the APN settings. What do I do?
3. I am getting some System Updates of 293.3 MB. I am worried if I install, I will lose my carrier unlock. I have lost the rooting (StumpRoot and SuperSU already). The phone guy says, do not upgrade . Is it true that I would lose my carrier unlock?
I would like to add that my Network settings are on Global. When I insert any SIM in my country, it automatically picks it and works just fine.
I would like to add that when i installed RootChecker and SuperSU, they indicate that I have Root
I have went forward and installed TWRP. Now, I am waiting for how to upgrade to ZV6 such that I do not lose my international unlock which was done via the file change node.db and node.db-journal.
I accessed the hidden menu to see configuration of APN etc using Shortcut Master.

The international unlock solution on ZV8
After a few days of looking through the phone unlocking, rooting, bump'ding and twrping...I have a consolidated report.
My goal:
Sprint LS990 LG G3 with SIM-GSM unlock and data on the latest Android Lollipop (stock if need be).
Steps:
1. I started with ZV4, the original pre-loaded version. Obviously this is SIM blocked by default. I arrived at this state by LGFlash tooling the original stock ZV4 TOT from XDA.
2. I did not root or anything and i created no TWRP backups, hence I did not install TWRP either. This means I was at total Sprint original state.
I got over the accessibility settings and stuck at the configuring your phone page for a while by adding wifi connection. The step failed and I was fully able to use my phone without GSM. So be patient once ZV4 is loaded.
3. I went ahead and directly installed the stock ZV8 TOT, also available in autoprime's technique on XDA. Hence, I could have started from this as well as this was not an upgrade, it was a clean install, using LGFlashTool.
4. I went ahead and used the new rooting method for LG phones (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772). It worked!
5. Even rooted I had no signals. I used the method http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/unlock-sim-gsm-how-to-t2853594, did a simple restart and viola, my GSM voice and data were working. I had to select Global Network mode in my mobile data settings.
6. I have also Unlocked LTE using shortcut master, BUT I am yet to test it, I dont have an LTE SIM card at the moment.
Thinks to all the wonderful writers.
Can yo help me with data??

Help me unlock LTE band 40. Please

Vacation ruined? (sim unlock rooted phone)

I got an unlock code from cellunlocker.net (a site I've used a few times in the past) for my rooted stock-rom S6 Edge from Bell Canada.
When I try to use the code, the message says Unlock Unsuccessful.
Reading the details of the unlock code email, it says unlocking might not work if the phone has been "rooted and/or custom rom installed".
Surely rooting cannot mean one cannot sim unlock it after.... or does it?!?!?
Sometimes rooted phones actually dont unlock. Ive seen people have this problem before. If you Odin back to stock and try unlock should work no problem. From there you can feel free to root and such again with it unlocked no problem.

Experienced something similar myself with my S5 using Cellunlocker.net on rogers. I changed my runtime to ART and it set my binary status to custom. For some reason, changing the Runtime from dalvik to ART on my S5 set my status to custom and prevented any OTA, so I said what tha heck, i'll just root it and trick my status to get OTA, then I wanted to unlock it but it didnt work. I restored to stock after seeing it suggested on XDA, input code and it worked, was able to re-root after without any other issues. Not sure if it's the actual root or the custom status that blocked the unlock though but I think both set the status to custom.

How do I know the type of ROM on my phone?

I rooted my unlocked T-mobile LG G3 sometime last year, and I don't remember the root I applied. I also do not remember whether I applied a custom ROM, or not. Now, I'm want to update my phone (as I'm still running 4.4.2) using Marshmallow KDZ and Flash Tool and it's asking what type of ROM i have on my phone. Any idea how I can find that out? I don't want to do a hard-reset as I'll lose all the files on my phone. Thank you

Updating Root H850

Hey guys,
I think this is my first post on XDA
I have a UK H850, with TWRP and SuperSU and stock ROM. I have a very early version, something like version b.
Anyway, my reason for posting is I would like to update my firmware version because it is a year old to the latest version, or a custom ROM. I have looked around and I cannot seem to find a definitive answer on weather I can use flashfire app to successfully update and automatically reroot the device. If this does not work, what other methods can I look at? TWRP flash? Will I be able to keep my current data or will I have to restore from titanium backup?
Thanks :good:
TL;DR how the update do

Updating your firmware should be fairly easy with LGUP. (I've done it successfully several times with my UK H850.) Just find the KDZ files for your UK H850 here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h850-firmwares/ If you're going to flash Nougat firmware, make sure you have the latest TWRP: twrp-3.1.1-0-h850. After flashing stock firmware you'll have a stock G5, which means no root and stock recovery. (I don't believe there is any way to retain root when flashing stock firmware.) The good news is that after flashing stock firmware your bootloader will still be unlocked, so you can flash twrp-3.1.1-0-h850 with fastboot and then reroot by flashing SU with TWRP. You have correctly deduced that retaining your data will require separate action on your part. And don't forget that if you want to remove encryption on your data you'll need to format (not wipe) the data partition in TWRP.
Good luck!

EE. The latest firmware I've flashed is H85020d_00_EEO_GB_OP_0403.kdz. I'm using the G5 in the US with a SIM card accessing the AT&T network, so I have deleted the EE bloatware that came with it. I bought it, of course, since it was a European H850 with an unlockable boootloader.

Have you successfully unlocked the bootloader on the ee variant of the h850?? If so I guess you could also flash other networks ROMs and also lineage os right?

Yes, the bootloader on the EE H850 is unlockable. I wound up with the EE H850 by chance; I was ordering a "European version" of the H850 online for the express purpose of getting one with an unlockable bootloader. I have been able to flash all LG KDZ firmware on it with LGUP, and have successfully flashed TWRP via fastboot and then rooted it. I've never had a problem flashing any ROMS, although I admit that I haven't tried all the custom ROMs out there. I prefer stock ROMs such as Fulmics 3.5 for the LG camera.
